This collection was a fantastic appetiser. Based solely on the extracts, I might not have been as interested in some of the titles. However, the essay by each author was really engaging. It took me longer than I would have liked to review this book because I got wrapped up in wanting to purchase each title as I read. In this way, I think it is a very successful collection of samples.
Really liked this gift from Algonquin, which gave glimpses into several novels (all of which I intend to read; one of which I have, thus far) as well as an essay from each author about the book, what inspired it, etc. I like that glimpse into the author's psyche. Like a little book panel in print.
