ill give it 5 but needs some salt in my opinion

For years I have been seeking confidence. Last night I sat down and really thought about what confidence is, I came to the conclusion its primarily about feeling safe and giving that feeling to others. So I searched amazon for books on feeling safe and found this one. To my surprise, and great joy, it turned out to be the best method I have found for being confident and living a life with less stress and anxiet. However, I think you should take chapters 5 and 6 with a grain of salt. The author starts talking about energy fields and Gods and Godesses. He claims with certainty they exist, and they might, I don't know. But as a Christian I choose to leave such things, which I don't understand, up to God. If you want to mess with all that im not objecting, just thought those who are thinking about purchasing the book would like to know that energy manipulation is a substantial part of the book. Although the energy field discussion and such discredit the author as scientific, his advise in chapters one 1-4 is life changing. I kinda wish he had not included the energy fields because I think the book may have appealed to a larger audience. I have not reviewed a book in a while and have prolly read 300 self help type books in the last 7 years or so. I have also read as many as 30 on stress, fear , confidence and the like, and I must say the simple methods in this book have worked better than anything I have found. There is also clear explanation on why they work. I feel very lucky I found this book and send blessings to the author. For another more scientific book that expands on a method the author uses try "hardwiring happiness" by rick hanson. Bloom explains the need for safety better in this book and has several techniques that hardwiring happiness did not. Hardwiring happiness may help expand your understanding of the technique of noticing and expanding pleasure, which Bloom advises. I hope this review was not to rambling or opinionated. I highly recommend the book for anyone who deals with stress, anxiety, or wants to be more confident. Unfortunately I think thats most of us! God bless :-) Cody

I liked the overall viewpoint on anxiety and the troubles of the world, but he seemed rather anti-meds, which I am not.

I read this book while also doing work on boundaries work and discerning how I can be a better advocate for myself. It gives a whole picture of safety in terms of caring for the body, cultivating helpful attitudes, and keeping centered.
I have seen William Bloom in a few online spaces, and I like the calm, positive energy he shares. Reading this book felt like I was learning some of his secrets for showing up in the world.
I read this book somewhat quickly, as the ideas don't seem foreign to me. It was just nice to have it all in one place, and I ended up making a list of all the techniques he suggested as a one-page reference for myself. For me, this book is a good map for finding where I could add to my current practices.

This gives invaluable practices to add into your life. If you are a highly sensitive person then this is essential reading. William explains simple techniques that you can use to help keep yourself centred and grounded – the world “out there” instead of coming in at you. What he teaches in these pages has been a life-saver for me. William is a spiritual teacher with appreciation of various traditions and psychology, so his approach is grounded and sound.

The best self-help book I've ever read so far.Treating yourself as a parent for your soul, visualizing an environment to prevent your energy, using nature(soil, trees, gardening hobbies which is related to structure of the world) to boost your energy are the important points that impressed me and also the effect of Carl Jung on William Blooms thoughts and the way he teaches us to have a opinion about the world and humanity's problems in a general way as a responsible human-being made me love this book more.It changes you without feeling guilty and encourages self-love in a reasonable,an honest way and does not advice unrealistic goals so it becomes more helpful and remarkable book.

When I first began reading this book I thought that his approach was a little simplistic. But as I continued reading it I realized that it was affecting me more deeply than I originally thought. There have been times in my life that I would not have found this book helpful but for now, it is a book that I relate to. I intend to read it again and try to apply some of these suggestions to my own life.

I decided to buy this book after our property was broken into and I was feeling very unsafe. I found it an easy read and some advice was helpful. I was unsure about how the influences of energetic connections contribute to such situations and especially`the sins of the fathers`! There was also sections on how and why people commit such crimes and maybe we could change our feelings towards them. I still have much work to do in that area.
