There is something undeniably special about YA romance with those first intense emotions, the feeling that everything matters more, and French Kisses delivers that in spades, set against the most gorgeous sun-soaked South of France backdrop of sea, surf and endless blue skies.
When eighteen-year-old wildchild Margot —is dragged along on a month-long Eurocamp holiday in Biarritz, she’s convinced her summer is officially ruined. But almost as soon as she arrives, the mood begins to shift… thanks in no small part to two very different French boys, Félix and Antoine. Suddenly, between surf lessons, sunny days and two boys that she's attracted to, France doesn’t feel quite so terrible after all.
But this story has so much more depth than a holiday romantic love triangle. As the days pass, Margot begins to rediscover parts of herself she thought she’d lost, her love of the water, her place within her family, and a sense of who she might want to become. There’s a quiet tenderness to her journey, particularly in how she navigates old friendships, including reconnecting with her former best friend, and the uncertainty of standing on the cusp of adulthood that should resonate deeply with so many young readers.
And while Margot’s story is central, the stat of the show is younger sister Rue. Living with cerebral palsy, Rue’s determination to learn to surf is nothing short of inspiring. It’s a beautiful, effortless piece of disability rep that adds so much depth to the narrative.

Romantic, Emotional, Sweet.
This book immediately made me look up flights to Biarritz. For me that's the sign of a great book, wanting to immerse myself in the setting. I loved Margot and her family. Margot, Rue and Wren are three formidable sisters. They could take on the world, all with different ways of seeing the world.
I must admit there were some parts of this book that brought me right back to being a teenager with the confusion and decisions Margot faces. If I read this when I was Margot's age, I may have inhaled it in a day.
For me this book was truly about the main character finding herself within her life, her family, her hobbies. Creating a new path just for her. I loved it.
I have read a few of Jenny Ireland's books and can't wait to read the ones I've yet to.
I'd recommend this book as a summer read, to escape into the waves and follow your heart.

Well this was super fun! Just got to read the final published version of Jenny Ireland’s new YA, French Kisses which is out tomorrow! The title says it all really – full on summer romance. Surfing, family drama, beach parties, cute French boys... The perfect beach read for you and your teen!

A gorgeous YA romance that swept me off to Biarritz in France. Great setting, characters and dialogue with plot twists and substance as well as sand, sea and… no spoilers! If you need a page turner for your summer holiday, this is the one to pick.
