Loren Piper Strikes Again

Rate this book
I, Loren Piper, am a hopeless romantic.
And I have a terrible habit of falling for the wrong guy.

It's official: I just met the man of my dreams.
Some might consider our funeral meet-cute a red flag, but not me. I'm almost, nearly, definitely positive we're meant to be together.
The problem? He lives ten hours away.
The solution? Drop everything and move to be with him. Obviously.
Life is wonderful-until I discover the man of my dreams is actually a two-timing rat bag.
Now I'm stuck in a new city with a rapidly dwindling bank account and a mother throwing around, "I told you so," every chance she gets.
Enter: Elliott Grant. The playboy next door who happens to have a spare room I can actually afford.
All I have to do is move in and not fall for him.
Simple, right?

When Loren Piper strikes, we definitely have a hit! This book is a love letter to every person just trying to make it work and hoping to find love along the way.

Loren Piper is every type A person's worst nightmare -- she makes decisions on vibes, she plays it by ear, and hilarity ensues. This book made me smile so many times and I loved it. Despite me yelling "NO LOREN NO!" multiple times, she is just so fun that you cannot help but cheer her on. Loren is every single one of us trying to figure it out on day old coffee and vibes.

With an impulsive move from Maryland to Nashville (there was a guy), a questionable apartment (NOT THE MOLD), no job in sight (don't worry), and a hot neighbor, what could possibly go wrong? I feel like some should cue a "dun, dun, dun" right there. You know Murphy's Law, Loren is about to experience it on a epic level. But don't worry, with the help of her new friends Meg and Rebecca, and her series hot neighbor, Elliott, she is gonna figure it all out.

I loved watching her interactions with Elliott -- they go from banter to flirty regularly and it will leave you laughing as these two with their baggage dance around each other trying to just figure out if they both want the same thing.

The vibes, the dialogue, the romance -- everything hits just right for me in this one.

I was lucky enough to get an e-arc of Loren Piper Strikes again by Jenny Fyfe...firstly I will read anything Jenny writes, as Jenny Fyfe (for romance) or Jenny Hickman (for fantasy) and this did not disappoint! (and i'll try and write this with no spoilers!)

Firstly Loren and Elliot, ugh i love them! They are so relatable and funny and cute...and the banter is *chef's kiss*

There were a number of moments when i genuinely laughed out loud...but there were also moments when i was like 'yes, Jenny' like when she actively shows Loren and her bestie Meg taking photos of a guy's licence etc as a way to look out for each other.

The chemistry between the two of them is there on the page from the jump. Loren is sweet and chaotic (in such a true way) so Elliot's nickname of Chaos for her, is perfection! and don't even get me started on the sexy barman of a golden retriever that is Elliot.

So yeah, it's funny, and cute, but also sweet and affirming...Loren goes through a real transformation in this book of what she expects from herself, her life and what she's willing to put up with/expect from someone else.

Jenny - i hope we get to see more in this series, August and ? Meg and ? etc. like we need them all!

📖: Loren Piper Strikes Again

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫

“𝘍𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵.”

Sparked by her interest in the man of her dreams, Loren leaves her family’s funeral business behind and moves to Tennessee on a whim. She’s got no solid plans, but she’ll make it work. Right?

Tropes:
👀Dual POV
🫟Chaotic FMC
🏠Hot player neighbor
🫂Forced proximity
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒Found family
🗣️Banter
🌶️Open door

Loren is a hopeless romantic following her heart. Elliot is her jaded neighbor who locked his heart away years ago. Their flirty banter toes the lines. And when they become roommates, their control threatens to slip.

What begins as a chaos of fresh starts, string of bad luck, and huge heartbreak, Loren and Elliot might just find they are both exactly where they are meant to be.

Hilarious and heartfelt, Loren Piper Strikes Again had me giggling and kicking my feet from start to finish!

Huge thanks to the author for the review copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This was pure gold from Jenny Fyfe, who is defintely an autobuy dither for me. I had so much with the chaos that is Loren Piper, and even more fun with Elliott’s thoughts as the sunshine chaos ensued. This is just a true feel good book and I loved everything about it. Loren was such a unique character that was compounded by Meg and Rebecca. Josh? We loathe Josh. Elliott and August? Comedic gold. Elliott? A knight in shining armor book boyfriend, truly. The trajectory of Loren’s past and present love lives into her future one in this book give serious Opalite vibes, and I am here for it because this girl is a hopeless romantic and deserves some luck in all facets of life. The female camaraderie also knocked it out of the park in this, even though I was a little nervous at a few points that it wouldn’t. This is a real-life adjacent story about two semi-broken people looking for love, looking for what they’re meant to do in this life, and it is like a warm hug for your soul.

Okay, anything Jenny Hickman writes is pure gold — but this might be her most delicious rom-com yet. The FMC is absolute chaos in the best, most lovable way, and the MMC? A golden retriever in human form. Their chemistry is so effortless and electric that you’ll find yourself smiling, giggling, and literally kicking your feet from happiness.

It’s witty, swoony, and full of that heart-fluttering banter Jenny does so well. If you’re looking for a comfort read that feels like sunshine mixed with a little bit of disaster energy, this one’s it.

This book was all vibes for me. From the very first page, I was sucked into Loren’s beautiful, awkward, chaotic mind and Jenny’s fast paced writing. I read this while I was sick in bed last Saturday, and it was the perfect combination of spicy rom com with a warm cozy HEA.

Loren navigates a lot of tough situations as we move through the story; chiefly being broke in a new city and (spoiler alert) her douchebag boyfriend. Enter Elliot, Loren’s neighbor and our very own commitmentphobe MMC.

The description of joy when finding a quarter really took me back.
The crab cake throughline was excellent.
The bowling was EVERYTHING. The bumpers 😂
The shared family stress/drama was well done.
The banter was hilarious.

The interpersonal relationships in this book are well developed. These characters are NOT perfect – they are flawed and real and silly. I was just as invested in the side characters as the main characters, which is rare. I loved the female support!!! More of that in books please.

I enjoyed rooting for these two – a hopeless romantic and a jaded lover. I loved how they supported and lifted each other up. I also liked the 3rd act “get it together” moment. It was satisfying to see them both grow.

I got this as an ARC, and I have to say, Jenny never disappoints! the main character, Loren, could insta-love with a lamppost and I love it! she falls hard, fast, and unapologetically. as someone who was the same, and felt broken because of it, this book made me feel seen and loved for it. and also, Elliot? he can get it. any it he wants, all his.

I laughed out loud throughout the whole book. If you are looking for a romantic comedy this is the perfect book for you! You will be giggling nonstop and agreeing with Loren because her POV is so relatable.

I LOVE LOREN soooooooooo much! She is my spirit animal. Her chaos is such a beautiful thing.

Elliott is such a gentleman. His knowledge of pockets is excellent. Iykyk.

Highly recommend!

Jenny does it again! This is a laugh out loud, rom com about a hopeless romantic and the chaos that ensues when she moves to Nashville to follow her one true love only to be met by life’s realities, a broken heart and a hot neighbor! I laughed, I squealed and kicked my feet, and I loved every minute!

This book had me absolutely cackling! I loved it and could not get enough of Loren and Elliot. Loren is so endearing and her inner monologue was my favorite. Elliotttttt— I loved him! Their banter and chemistry was amazing! Go read this book for a fun, sweet and spicy rom-com!
October 15, 2025
OMG this book was a hit for sure! I devoured it and could not get enough of it! This was my first non-fantasy read of Jenny’s and let me tell you, it checks all the boxes!!

Loren is a little nerdy and a whole lotta awkward and I freaking love her. She’s got the sass and determination to get what she wants, yet the true heart of someone who’s been burnt before and doesn’t easily let go of the voice in her head giving her confidence a shake at each turn. Elliot is literally the guy next door that you know you want but shouldn’t. He’s hella (yep the best word) hot, has a bit of OCD, who also carries scars that run deep. They both are struggling to get out from under parents who want to do what they feel is best, even if it’s at the sake of their kids. Always having the feeling that no matter what you do, they will never be pleased. These two have the banter, the heat, and the most delicious slow burn!! I laughed until I cried, had the heartstrings pulled, and the fan to cool down. And don’t get me started on August and Meg. These two are the perfect “ride or die” for our main duo and maybe, just maybe, have more coming our way with them. This is such a fun, cozy, rom-com that I can read over and over!

Thank you so much Jenny for the chance to ARC early!

Everyone knows I love a Jenny Hickman/Fyfe book and this one was no exception! 😍
I honestly love how willing to love Loren is, even though she’s also impulsive and (aptly nicknamed) Chaos. Does this lead to some rather bonkers choices? 100%. But I love her anyway.
And Elliot. Sweet idiot Elliot. He has a few too many secrets, but honestly he just needs a hug (seriously Jenny, WHY DO ALL YOUR MMCS NEED HUGS MORE THAN ANYTHING??)

Solid 4 stars for a light, fun read, and because my sense of humor IS the gutter, I am 100% down to play inappropriate Scrabble if anyone else is willing to be soundly beaten. 😂😜 (I’m very l, VERY good at Scrabble).

This one is spicy, so clean readers, you’ve been warned.

I received an advance copy, all opinions are my own, and a review was not required.

THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING.

This was my first contemporary romance, and OH MY GOSH JENNY HICKMAN HAD ME CACKLING.

Loren is such a trip. SUCH a trip. She's so real and she's the person that I both want to be and want to be best friends with. I loved seeing her impulsive (no, girl, we do NOT move across the country for a man we had a summer thing with) moves and seeing her learn and grow. Pushing herself out of her comfort zone was a good reminder that growth best happens in the uncomfortable and uncertain moments. Elliot had me cackling as well, and their banter. I am SUCH a sucker for good banter.

There were also softer moments that had me wanting to reach through my kindle to hug her. I absolutely adored her.

Pick this book up NOOOW.

"Everyone has heard the saying: Love conquers all. Well, that's a load of bull if you ask me. I'd love to know why the folks who came up with it didn't write more helpful proverbs. Something like: 'Don't fall for someone at a funeral.'"

Loren Piper is stuck. She works for her parents in a dead end (ha!) job in the small town she never has been able to escape. A brief romance with a man in town for a short visit leads Loren to take a risk. Move to Nashville where he lives on whim with no job, no apartment, and no furniture. What can go wrong?

Loren Piper Strikes Again is Jenny Fyfe's solo contemporary romance debut, but it reads like she's been doing it for years. It's hilarious and heartwarming, sweet and spicy, and also my newest obsession.

I adore this story. It's everything I love in a contemporary romance. It's a dual POV story with so many laughs, lots of swoon, and the perfect amount of spice. When I reached the end of the story I was so sad that it was over. I wanted to spend so much more time with the characters.
CW/TW: Cheating (not by either MC). There is a brief mention of pregnancy loss (not for the FMC).

Loren is such an endearing and relatable FMC. She's a hopeless romantic, who tries to see the best in people. She's also unbelievably brave. I can't fathom moving to a new city alone with no plan, especially seeing as it's her first time being out on her own. I love her determination and drive to make her dreams come true without outside help. The female friendships and bowling nights are complete girl squad goals. I love how important those friendships are not only to Loren, but to the story.

Elliott is book boyfriend royalty. I love how layers of his personality and past get peeled away throughout the story. He's funny, charming, and completely down bad for Loren. Loren and Elliott have the best banter! The tension is perfect and builds throughout the story. Although the attraction is there from the get go, it's still a slow burn. When the fire catches though...watch out! Piping hot!

I love Fyfe's foray into contemporary romance and I hope that her journey into this genre continues. I can't wait to read more from this series! There's two other members of the bowling crew, so I'm hoping each gets their own story. Fingers crossed!

If you like contemporary romance/romantic comedies, then Loren Piper Strikes Again needs to be on your TBR! This fantastic story releases November 11th! Pre-orders are available now. Don't miss this one!

*A huge thank you to Jenny for the opportunity read an ARC. All thoughts and comments are my own.*

"But I'm not looking for fine. I want fizzy tingles and flapping butterflies and shortness of breath."

"Almost like I was looking for permission from the universe of some higher power that it was okay to go. To take a chance on myself. Or on someone who could end up being the love of my life."

"I could be friends with Hot Elliott as long as I don't let myself get hypnotized by his blue, blue eyes."

"To Erwin, Glenn, and Harry. Three strong, independent women."

"Is it possible to fall in love with someone's arms but hate their personality? Asking for a friend."

Oh my stars…I loved this story. Loren (FMC) is such a mess…and I see so much of my own 20s experience in her. Not the unbearably hot sex god neighbor Elliot (MMC), but in the slob tendencies, that ache to fall in love, the financial pitfalls, and the questionable life choices. I loved that she grew into a complete person without losing all of her chaos…because at 40, I am still a slob and am still a sucker for falling in love (mind you, I am married now and live vicariously via books).

Anyway, enough about me, let me note how amazing the banter is in this book. Jenny, you are a queen. If you have read anything by this author, you KNOW she’s amazing with building chemistry and tension through banter. And she floored me at how exquisitely is it done in this book. What’s more is that she doesn’t only write that chemistry between the mains, but also with supporting characters. And by the way, I am ravenous for the supporting characters stories now bc they were such good examples of found family. The quick friendship Loren finds at her temp gig and the brotherly camaraderie between Elliot and August are true to real life! I love how this shows that we can’t live in a vacuum, community and authenticity are integral to both surviving and thriving.

I think anyone who needs a fun romcom, who has had a messy era, or who enjoys top notch banter should give this title a try!!

Could there be a more adorable and feel-good book? I devoured this one in a single day because I literally could not put it down. Loren Piper is a hopeless romantic who’s stuck working at her family’s funeral home and feeling like her life is standing still. On a total whim, she decides to move to Nashville to follow her heart after meeting a guy just days before. What follows is an incredibly endearing story of self-discovery, a verrry slow burn romance, and the ultimate feel-good journey.

I absolutely adored Loren’s character. She’s quirky, chaotic, warm, and so relatable. Her inner thoughts and struggles felt like reading my own sometimes. And Elliott!? Just sheeshhhh, I will leave it there.

And can we talk about Jenny Fyfe/Hickman’s signature banter? Nobody does it better. When the slow burn finally catches fire… HOT DANG. You need this book in your life and on your TBR immediately!

Loren feels stuck in her hometown working at her parent's funeral home. An instant connection with a mourner leads her to the impulsive decision to move to Nashville to be closer to him. She ends up moving in next to Elliot. A few kind deeds lead to a friendship and maybe something more.

Read if you like:
-Friends to Lovers
-Neighbors to Lovers
-Roommates to Lovers
-Slow Burn
-Leaps of Faith
-Nicknames

Loren Piper Strikes Again was impossibly cute and so much fun! I love that Elliot called Loren Chaos, because she really was chaos incarnate but in the best way. Her series of 'happy accidents' really lead her to right where she needed to be. I now need my own bowling shirt so I can join her Wednesdays for a few beers and a few strings. I love that she not only found romance but also found herself a couple of ride or die besties. They are female friendship goals, and I hope all of them get their own books, because they deserve it.

Jenny Fyfe is an auto read author for me so when the opportunity to read an ARC of her newest contemporary romance came along, I was in!

I loved Loren’s chaotic energy, her all in attitude, and her perseverance to make a life of her own. Loren left her hometown and her job working for her parents in their funeral home after meeting Josh and enjoying their short time together and their instant chemistry. Loren packed up her stuff and off to Nashville she went! Soon Loren finds out Josh isn’t exactly who he made himself out to be and Loren is floundering in a temp job that she likes but she can hardly pay her bills or eat. She’s lucky to have found a friend in a coworker, Meg. She’s also constantly running into her hot hot HOT neighbor Elliot.

Without giving any more away, I highly recommend you read Loren Piper Strikes again!

I absolutely adored this book, and was honestly so excited when I got an e-arc of this book. I have been in love with Jenny's writing so when I learned of this book it was a need! Jenny never disappoints with her writing.

Loren is definitely a little bit of a train wreck, but in an endearing way. She makes decisions that often don't make sense, based purely on the vibes she gets and well... a little bit of build up in her own head. Loren is pure chaos in the best of ways and every type A *cough* Ellio's *cough* worst nightmare. She's messy, she doesn't clear her notifications, and she makes general decisions that sometimes will have you wanting to shake her and say "No Loren No". But this also led to complete comedic gold with chemistry between Elliot and Loren that will have you fanning yourself.

The polite term for our Loren is a hopeless romantic, literally packing up her life and moving to a new state on a whim to follow a guy she met in one weekend at a funeral..yes you read that right, a funeral.. was a choice. But she has hope in spades that she can make it work. Elliot however is your typical closed off jaded but hot neighbor. He'd rather have one night connections over a relationship and has locked his heart away for years, that is until he can't seem to stop flirting and connecting with Loren.

With dual POV's, characters you can connect with, forced proximity, an adorable found family and banter for days you honestly cannot go wrong reading about this hot neighbor and our chaos girlie. The growth is sweet and believable and you will definitely have the time of your life with this cast.

Thank you absolutely SO MUCH Jenny for the e-arc, please let me read the next one. I need more of this little found family.

“Fight with me all you want, Chaos…”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is one of my FAVORITE books of the year!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Loren is a hopeless romantic. She’s also a hot mess (in the best way) and I absolutely loved her for it. She makes some pretty questionable decisions, but she’s also a great reminder to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Elliot is anti-commitment and lives life with structure—the complete opposite to Loren’s chaos. He’s also charming and protective, and seeing Loren through his eyes was both funny and endearing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Their banter? Some of the best I’ve read this year. The tension and chemistry was electric. And it’s a slow burn that’s so worth the wait! Loren Piper Strikes Again is a true laugh-out-loud, kick your feet, swoon-worthy romance! There was so much in this story I loved.

I read this book in one sitting and I was completely hooked from the start. Loren Piper was such a fun, chaotic, and brave character. Elliott, her neighbor and eventual love interest, was charming, funny, and so swoony, like a human golden retriever, always teasing but also protective when needed. Their banter was perfect and electric, full of tension and humor, and the slow burn romance made the chemistry feel real and earned. I loved how Loren grew through the story, learning to take risks, and trust herself. Jenny Fyfe balanced humor, romance, emotional beats, and personal growth seamlessly. The ending was satisfying and hopeful. Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

oren Piper Strikes Again by @authorjennyfyfe

Thank you so so much, Jenny, for this ARC! I adore your romantasy books, but this was such a great book for my first contemporary of yours!!

Loren is a hopeless romantic.... and after meeting the love of her life.... much to her parents' dismay.... she ups her life and takes off to Nashville.... wellLife is.... crap but she's found a job, a friend, and a cupboard.. I mean apartment. Life should be good, right..... even with an annoying neighbour.

Elliot is the neighbour and a hot one at that.... he is a 'commitmentphobe' but is absolutely taken with Loren... I love the nickname he gives her! Chaos is very fitting!

I love the banter between these two! I love the side characters, too! Meg is amazing! The story is so good if you want normal, awkward, flawed, and very relateable MCs with family drama and great banter! Then this is the book for you!!

Thank you again, Jenny! Cannot wait to read more of your contemporary books!!

THIS WAS AMAZING !!! GO READ THIS RIGHT NOW !!
The cutest contemporary romance ever! It was sweet, it was cute and SO FREAKING FUNNY! I laugh so many times !
The FMC is a lot to handle, but she has a heart of gold, she's funny as hell and she's brave, she stands up for herself, enough is enough! The MMC is perfection, he has a sense of humour that's... Uuuuuugh it would drive any woman insane! He makes everything look hot, the sexy bartender... The spice is just well done, the tension was building and you'll be rewarded!
The sides characters are great, I loved Meg, the relationship she had with Loren was the sweetest! August was hilarious and sweet...
I really can't find something bad about this book !!!

4.5 stars. Well I absolutely devoured that! My first time reading a contemporary by Jenny and now I need to go read her others asap!

The story follows Loren Piper on a chaotic journey to find herself and love. The pacing felt a bit frenetic, but it worked really well for the story. I couldn’t put it down!

The banter! The nicknames! The female friendships!
There was so much to love in this story.

I didn’t want it to end- I need more Loren & Elliott.
And I need books for Meg and August and Rebecca too!
Oh and I need to start going bowling with my girlfriends (with thrifted bowling shirts of course).

Thank you to the author for the chance to enjoy an advance copy.

Loren Piper Strikes Again but not Jenny Fyfe! Loren Piper is in her late-twenties and trying to figure her life out outside of the world she grew up in. Her adventures take her from Maryland to Tennessee where she meets new friends, gets a new job, and embarks on a new adventure including one with love. The story is fun and lighthearted with all the trials and tribulations that comes with a rom-com. The banter is on point and it’s hard not to love the story! If you want a fun contemporary rom-com, I can’t recommend this one enough!

Thank you so much to Jenny Fyfe for the gifted ARC! I can’t wait to read more of the Unlucky Strikes Series! All opinions are my own.

Perfect! Just what I needed!
I had so much fun with this book. I love Jenny’s writing, it’s so easy to fall into - just enough humor, and lots of love and emotion. Loren and Elliot were great - I loved reading their story, their banter and friendship was great, and seeing their relationship grow was just lovely. It really was just the perfect pick-me-up after some pretty challenging reads. I really enjoyed this one so much, and I can’t wait for more books in the Unlucky Strikes series!!

Thanks so much to Jenny Fyfe for the advanced copy!! All opinions are my own.

Jenny Hickman is an author I will always read. She never fails to make me fall in love all over again. Elliott is such a green flag. I was so in love with this fictional man. I was kicking my feet and giggling like… well, like Loren Piper. Her lovesick, hopeless romantic personality was done so well, in a not-cheesy way. I loved the side characters, and the relationships built and shown outside of the main romance. Overall a great, quick, easy romance to pick up.
Thank you Jenny for allowing me to ARC read this 💕
