A rockstar romance with all the British emo and indie vibes. Made me so homesick for London! But this book was more than just a rockstar romance; it was about intense grief, overcoming depression and loss of identity. The raw and intense emotion from the MC’s absolutely touched me.

Seren, the daughter of legendary rockstar, is living a safe and small life hiding in her Vinyl store in London and sworn off musicians years ago. Harry, a walking tabloid headline, is still grieving from a past tragedy and has lost himself in the fame and is the last person Seren would get close to. But after a strawberry milkshake catastrophe outside her Vinyl shop, their connection quickly deepens into something neither of them saw coming. In each other, they find comfort, vulnerability, and a kind of understanding that fame has never allowed. But as the world closes in, and old wounds are reopened by songs that sound too much like confessions, love alone might not be enough. This is a story about choosing someone - even when it’s complicated, even when it hurts - and learning how to be seen when you’ve spent your whole life hiding.

Seren is our emotionally unavailable FMC who relies on her resentment with her Dad to keep herself together. By trying to be everything he is not, she forgets to be herself and figure out who she can become outside of the family name. Sometimes I really wanted to slap her, but I also wanted to hug her because she is the way she is because she cares and she feels deeply even if she doesn’t voice it. It’s in her actions. Her journey of discovering herself and finally being openly vulnerable after she has covered her emotions with dark humour for so long was touching. The family healing was also an important moment in this, and exploring the family dynamics and despite each being dysfunctional, they are still able to come together for Sunday dinners as one.
”How much of my life have I spent defining myself by what I’m not rather than what I am?”
Similarly, Harry getting the confidence to put himself first and get on that train to emotional healing was long overdue. At first he seemed so reliant on Seren - which is never healthy - and as such was afraid leading to him making mistakes and bad judgement. However you could feel he loved Seren so deeply in how he was gentle with her when she was still unready, and didn’t push her past what was comfortable for her. Ultimately, Harry was the character I most resonated with and felt connected, and Anna really wrote his character well.
”Because I know what this is. I’ve felt this kind of ache before; the sort that digs into your bones and rewrites your centre of gravity. I’ve just found a sliver of peace. And I already know I’m going to ruin it.”
The romance between them was oh so torturous and a little toxic. But eventually they were able to become who they were meant to be separately before starting fresh and I think that’s the best take. Sometimes things have to fall apart before they can come back together.
“I didn’t fall in love with you the way I was supposed to. It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t slow. It was immediate. Violent. Like you tore something open in me that’s never going to close.” “You didn’t just ruin me, Seren. You rebuilt me.”
We really got the rockstar experience with this one! Their synergy and connection through music and song writing is what tied this all together. The music was the glue. The studio sessions, late night writing, jokes with the band mates and concert performances were so fun. I can’t wait to read the other band mates’ stories!
”Instead, I let the exhaustion catch up with me. The exhaustion of fighting this, of denying how far I’ve already fallen, of pretending that what happened in that studio was just professional collaboration when it felt more like communion.”

I was lucky enough to get the ARC of “The Sound Between Us” ❤️🎶
I devoured this book in less than 24 hours! The slow burn… the complexity of the characters… the fights & the make ups!! I loved it all… I could 100% see this being a movie!! 🎸🎶❤️🥤 Make sure to read it when it’s released 9/29/25!

the way i dreaded picking up this Arc, but at the same time still intrigued to see how it’ll end 🫣
you guys know i like to keep things honest here with my reviews; i had considered not posting about this since i didn’t rlly enjoy it but one reason why i like posting reviews is that it also allows me to keep a visual log of all the books i’ve read! so here it is!
this book had a quite interesting premise & plot — a burnt our artist meets a breath of honesty, a woman shying away from the Hollywood spotlight, running her very own Record Shop in London; together they find their spark again for music & art, taking bold steps & facing their own insecurities and fears, and along the way finding their way towards each other.
the writing style just wasn’t something i enjoyed; it felt very disjointed and unpolished — it was very much feeling like those early-days Wattpad fanfic iykyk (and don’t get me wrong i loveee a good fanfic & it’s so amazing how some of it had been turned into real
books now!!)
there were also some descriptors used in the book that were very repetitive, word for word the whole phrase, only a few pages apart from each other — and i found that a little odd; i’m not sure if it was an overlooked mistake or intentional but it just made the writing feel unpolished!
that being said, though this book is now published, i did receive this as an Arc copy to review — thank you to the author & the team at @talesandteacupspr for this copy! i’m still grateful for the opportunity to read this 🫶🏼

one thing about me i’m always gonna love a musician romance!!!
this one started off really strong but something just fell a bit flat for me about half way through, not sure why!
i think dual pov worked soooo well for this book!! and i loved that they were both musicians/songwriters because i just love when characters write songs about each other🤭
i didn’t really care for any of the side characters and for me what really makes a book is well written side characters!!!
this was an arc so that might be why there were errors but i definitely noticed a lot of grammatical errors and continuity issues, it could’ve done with better editing!!! in particular, i really noticed throughout that where the word ‘like’ should’ve been used it just wasn’t there???? it feels like someone went through and removed every time the word ‘like’ was used, eg ‘i hope you traditional british cooking’ or ‘nothing the careful exploration we shared’ 😭😭 so weird not sure what’s gone on and don’t know if it’s just in the arc copy i had but very odd and it happened a LOT
in another part everywhere like would normally be used it said ‘such as’ instead even though it didn’t make sense ‘it sounds such as a promise’ .. very confused lol
overall i did enjoy this but didn’t LOVE it and didn’t have the feelings i usually get with a romance, i just wasn’t invested enough!! and for me there’s much much better musician romances out there !!!

I love a snarky, sassy, gives 0 f*cks FMC, and Seren was just that. She was wildly unimpressed with Harrison and his fame, and Harrison had to win her over to continue getting to know her.
This was a quick read and a fun one. The book had suck great banter - I found myself giggling on several occasions. I loved the character development and Seren's best friend (who will be a main character in book 2 - The Silence Between Us).
I wish the book would have included a playlist. Since the book was music-focused, it would have been cool to listen to whatever Seren and Harrison may have listened to.

Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that is about to be released September 29th called, The Sound Between Us. This is about Seren, she's the daughter of two musicians and she loves music but after seeing fame first hand growing up she decides to stay away from it. She stays to herself and tries to stay out of the spotlight, she spends her days working at a record shop. One day she collides with someone outside the shop, spilling her milkshake all over him, he's a famous singer named Harrison. He's completely taken back by the fact that she's not an instantly giggling and excited fan, she doesn't seem to be phased by him at all. Which intrigues him. There is instant chemistry and a pull between them that is undeniable. Neither of them want something to complicate their lives, but they keep being put in each other's paths.
This was a story about falling for someone you think you shouldn't, but then making each other better versions of yourselves in the process. I always enjoy books about music and this rockstar romance was entertaining and fun! I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series! 💛📚

The Sound Between Us follows a famous musican on the road to self-destruction until he literally runs into a girl who is trying to live a normal life away from fame. Seren, the daughter of not one but 2 musicians, wants nothing more than to continue her life working in her uncle's record store. Harrison is in a boy band on their verge of losing everything they worked for. Together, they help each other realize what they really want out of life.
This ARC was hard at times to get through. I felt like the story kept repeating itself. There were also a lot of grammar errors ( although this has not officially came out yet and could still be in the editing phase). In the end, I enjoyed the story a lot and was glad where it ended. Thank you for the chance to read your work. im looking forward to seeing where the next book takes us!

The Sound between Us by Anna Bloom was a nice easy read, Seren is the daughter of 2 talented musicians, she avoids the lime light and trapings of being famous at all costs.
Harrison Carton is the lead singer of a popular boy band but with the world at his fingertips he feels very alone.
The attraction is instant when Seren and Harry meet, to Seren he's everything she's spend her life avoiding, to Harry she's everything he wants.
I enjoyed the dance of Seren and Harry giving into there attraction even though they couldn't see how it was going to work and how they were able to over come there fears to get the happy ending they both deserved. An easy to read, entertaining book.

Honest ARC Review!
I thoroughly enjoyed the connection between Harry & Serene. It was raw and MESSY. It wasn't perfect, but it was real. "This is surrender. Conscious. Intentional. The slow fall into something we’ve been circling for too long." Brilliant writing. Read like a song in and of itself. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED.
Relatable family dynamics. Living up to expectations and carrying burdens that we truly manifest ourselves sometimes. Finding love and understanding in the people who raised us and probably know us better than anyone else. Loving them, despite their flaws.
I'm SO excited for The Silence Between Us!

Things I forget… I love rockstar romances. The amount of drama that is so far removed from “real” life but circles so closely. The exaggerated grand gestures that are adorable beyond belief. This book has all I love from rockstar romances.
There’s also such a vulnerability from Seren and Harry that I connected with. I highlighted so many passages that it’s like Anna was writing things right out of my head. This is a beautiful and wonderfully complicated story. I want more of them, I want to see them continue their growth, because my goodness they do a lot of it.

I am once again completely enthralled by Anna Bloom. Her writing is breathtaking, her prose lyrical, and her stories unforgettable. There’s simply no way to capture in words the way she crafts love. It’s that unique. Harry and Seren were a match made in musical heaven, their complexities weaving together to embody the very soul of The Sound Between Us. But it wasn’t just sound that echoed through the pages, it was pure magic.

Love me a rockstar romance. And the meet cute was honest and sweet. But this book was simply OK. I just didn’t care for the FMC really. Serena’s story is supposed to have made her guarded and jaded. Yet, she just comes off as rude and cold. And there are a bunch of typos where the words “like” or “as” are missing and it made me have to reread lines a lot because it didn’t make sense. I do love a good single dad story though and I liked Flick so I’ll continue on in the series.

Literally HOW is it possible that I've been given the chance to read so many amazing ARCs recently? This book was absolutely everything. I started reading at 3:06 pm and finished at 7:56 pm. I devoured it, all while savoring each and every second. Harry and Seren were both equally broken in their own ways, and found each other in the most phenomenal way. It was unbelievably beautiful, and the sequel is going to be just as amazing, I know it!!

I don't normally read these types of books but i absolutely loved it. I loved the banter and the chemistry between the characters. It was easy to read. I enjoyed the writing style. I would definitely read more from this author

Don’t we all wish we were famous sometimes and want to live that rock star life?
What they don’t tell you is all the little things that you miss out on or sacrifice for the fame. Is it worth it? Harrison Carter, doesn’t think the fame is worth the hype anymore, it’s somehow lost its luster and when he can’t seem to drown out the noise anymore, his grief gets the best of him. Incoming Seren Rogers, is Seren the one who will finally help him drown out the noise, help him keep his head above water long enough to remember the music?
I read the sound between us by Anna Bloom as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) and it was definitely an enjoyable read for me. Seren Rogers our FMC has been silent for too long but when a chance meeting with Harrison Carter, the lead singer of Elementary rock band, turns into something more, Seren finds herself daring to dream. Funny how being around someone you vibe with can inspire you to do the things you’ve always wanted to do but have never dared to reach for. I enjoyed the elements of self-motivation and realizations that Seren’s story inspired as well as the realizations that Harrison has from observing Seren. Their connection is unmistakable and in reading about it, I can’t quite put my finger on what was missing out of this story. Harrison our MMC ‘s story was equally as inspiring as Seren’s and together they made for an amazing amount of chemistry and pure fire was ignited between them. I think it might be the lack of back story on the both of them, tragedy for both characters are a key theme throughout the book and we explore Seren’s relationship with her father but I think I wanted more of Harrison’s back story in terms of where he comes from and his relationship with his parents. A relationship with his mother was mentioned and maybe I need a little bit more of this as some good character build for Harrison. The sound between us is book 1 in the vinyl hearts series and I can see how this book set up the next book which is the story of Jamie and Flick, Harrison’s bandmate and Seren’s best friend, the second book is entitled the Silence between us. The sound between us, does set this up very nicely. I enjoyed learning about the not so desirable side of the industry and Anna does a good job of painting this picture, we also have a live example in Seren’s dad of what holding on to the fame for dear life and this storyline was very interesting to read. I give the Sound between us 3.75 stars for reasons I’ve already outlined, I felt like something was missing and I think it was the back story which would have given me more character build of Harrison. I would definitely continue the series and I would recommend this book 100% if you’re into music and want to read about what it’s like to be famous and recognizable everywhere. How easy it is for artists to lose their way and forget why they got into the business to begin with as well as what it’s like to find it again, what it’s like to let go and be loved. From early on, though, I felt something wasn’t quite right. I’m not sure if it was the writing itself or the author’s overall style, but it often felt like the story was trying too hard to make a statement. Deep, meaningful messages were constantly being driven home, so much so that when the genuinely significant moments arrived, their impact was lost.
What I did enjoy was the music element. Music was used in such a way to express emotion, identity, and the quiet power it holds. That aspect really resonated with me, and it added an authentic layer to the story.
This was my first foray into “rockstar romance,” and it wasn’t exactly what I expected. I thought it might follow the typical “rock star meets fan” trope but this wasn't that.
Seren, trying to escape the world that fame had built (and broken) for her family, and Harrison, living the full celebrity experience, both find solace in the quiet moments. In each other, they find the space to just be — not the performer or the legacy, but simply Harry and Seren.
Their relationship begins with a chance encounter at the record store where Seren works, and from there it blossoms into something deeper. They slowly uncover what happiness really means to them, confront their own flaws, and search for peace outside the blinding lights of fame.
That said, I have to admit: Seren grated on me at times. Yes, her guarded nature is understandable given her past, but she sometimes came across as a little too pretentious.
The story was predictable in parts — but honestly, what romance isn't? Despite that, it was enjoyable. It had its cute moments, but overall, it was just okay for me.

First off, this book gets 4 stars from me. I did get a copy to review and so some grammatical errors were in my copy but I didn’t count that against the book. There was also a couple spots in the book that contradicted itself so I’m thinking that was just some early errors and will be corrected in the final. Also a few chapters repeat themselves. For example when they were in the apartment, it talks about a certain scene and then switches to the others perspective and it repeats itself. This wasn’t necessary. So now to the reason for the 4 stars. While it is a cute romance book with a happy ending, I felt the story of the MFC (Serene) struggles with her identity. Eventually she figures it out. And she realizes love can help and that her dad isn’t the villain she makes him out to be. Now the love mess. He falls first for sure. The small amount of time I don’t think is realistic so if you’re looking for realistic, this isn’t your book. So they try this relationship, then the ex gets in the way. She leaves, he tries to get her back. Eventually they work it out and then something else happens and then they end up again together. While the situation with the ex is very predictable, the second one was to a point and understand but when he explains more to her about the situation, she doesn’t hear or it’s forgotten later on in the book. This was a little confusing. The first half is great! The last part seemed like the author wasn’t sure where to go but wanted to add drama and did it. Do I think it could have been better with the plot? Yes! Is this book an easy romance read? Yes! I did enjoy this book and the author did a great job with the music industry aspect. Also something to keep in mind is the terminology is British so as someone in the US, if I didn’t have friends or watch shows from the UK, I would have had to look something up. In conclusion, if you want a romance story with a happy ending that is where both the MMC and MFC are musically inclined and involved in this life, make sure to check this book out.

The story was easy to follow and the writing was beautiful. I loved everything about this gorgeous read. It's definitely one that I will re-read again in the future. Plus I loved the slow burn chemistry between Seren and Harrison. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.

This was a great story - a quick read filled with a lot of emotion.
Seren, the female main character, is sarcastic, closed-off, and fiercely values her privacy. She's kept her heart guarded, but for good reason. As the daughter of two famous musicians, she knows exactly what she doesn't want to become. To her - the industry feels formulaic, all empty words and heartless performances.
She is more-or-less content staying under the radar...and then she bumps into Harrison Carter, the lead singer of Elementary. Seren recognizes him, but makes it very clear that she isn't impressed by his fame, his music, or his band. But that's exactly what draws Harrison to her - she treats him like a normal person, not a rockstar.
Their attraction is undeniable, but Seren knows all too well the cost of fame. Her father loved the spotlight more than his family and she remembers her mother calling for him before her death. Her stepsiblings also love the fame, leaving Seren feeling like an outsider with her own family.
Her relationship with Harrison forces her to really analyze things. She may have some talent of her own, but she does not want to be defined by her parents' legacy. The fear of judgment also lingers. What if people don't like her music? What if they dismiss it as nepotism instead of real talent?

Seren Jones is the daughter of two famous musicians but chooses to live a quiet, anonymous life, working at a vinyl shop. Until Elementary front runner Harrison Carter walks into her shop and turns her life upside down.
The Sound Between Us is a rockstar romance that checks all of the boxes. A famous musician grown weary of the rockstar life. A talented FMC that has chosen to remain in the shadows. Media circus, intense connection, and they come together to make beautiful music. I loved the meet-cute between Harry and Seren and I also love that it repeated in the third act.
There were multiple parts of this book that had me emotional and even tearing up. The depth of Harry's love for Seren and the way he professed it took my breath away. I absolutely love the way that Anna wrote these parts of the story.
A part of the book that I struggled with was the third act breakup. Seren finally admits her love for Harry but then let's Henry come between them. She knew Henry was trying to manipulate her and Harry but she allowed it to happen. I feel like she caused undue suffering for herself and Harry for no reason. In my opinion, the book would have been stronger if they had worked thru it instead, and teamed up to take Henry down a peg. Seren could have still worked on herself and her music. Harry could have still decided to retire. They could have decided to spend those last weeks of the tour apart to work on themselves respectively and decide to come back together in Glastonbury at the festival. The strawberry milkshake scene still could have happened.
One of my favorite parts about this book is the Sunday family dinner where Seren finally accepts her family for who they are and how they are able to love her. I'm really looking forward to Flick and Jamie's story next.

She has one rule: she doesn't start dating anyone from the celebrity world. She manages to keep this until one day the famous boy band Elementary visits London, and everything turns upside down from there.
The other main character, Harry, whose manager gave him the name Harrison years ago, goes to London to tour with the band Elementary. Between shows, it's nice to clear your head and mingle with the crowd. Taking advantage of this, Harry bumps into Serene at her workplace in Cambden... Oh, I loved how these two met!
It soon becomes clear that they have both experienced tough times and suffered from grief. But they have one thing in common: their love of music.

Likes: I’ll admit, the first few pages had me unsure if this one would click—but once the banter kicked in, I was all in. Seren’s sarcasm is sharp and well-timed, and it’s her voice that really anchors the story. The writing itself is beautiful, almost lyrical at times, with musical references woven in that feel natural and meaningful. As someone who grew up around music, I appreciated the nuance, but it’s written in a way that’s accessible even if you’ve never touched an instrument.
The emotional tone and rhythm of the prose are part of what makes this book special—it’s the kind of story that would lose its *magic* if adapted for screen. It’s intimate, internal, and deeply tied to the way it’s told.

But suddenly a chance encounter between Seren, Harrison Carter, from a current hot band, and a strawberry milkshake throws both Seren and Harrison’s lives into chaos.
Are these two lost souls the answer to each other’s aching heart song? Or just another proverbial weight for their ankles?

There are some great components of this book. I was intrigued by the family backstories and the trauma surrounding them but it didn’t progress enough for me.
There were multiple instances of miscommunication and third act breakup (these aren’t tropes I dig).
I guess the other small issue with it was the story got a little lost around the middle, forgot things previously laid out and felt like a change of trajectory at times. Or frequent repetition of phrases, which I wouldn’t normally notice, but felt common place from 40% onwards.
As I said the bones are there! The author is a good writer, I highlighted quite a number of quotes I loved early on, it just lost its footing.
“She’s all raw edges and half-finished moments; moonlight and bruises wrapped in skin”
“Time stretches. The formation and destruction of planets pass as the earth spins on its leisurely course toward my inevitable destruction.”
“The, his thumb presses into the swell of my bottom lip. His breath hot and a whisper from my mouth. ‘Look at me.’ His voice is rough sugar. I don’t think I choose to obey; my eyes fly open anyway.”

I had never read one of Anna Bloom’s books before, and after finishing this one, the first thing I did was put the second book on my TBR.
This book delivers the promise of the rockstar romance premise that readers want. There are the notes we all hope will be hit; celebrity, heightened drama, temptations, and the person that sees you when no one else does. My brain is full of good books with bands in them, but the memorable ones have all these things, plus something I didn’t realize I was looking for.
On some levels, these characters work perfectly and effortlessly, while on others, I love that they really need to work against their habits and surroundings to trust each other. I wasn't expecting how well these conflicts would blend with the way these characters relate to the industry that controls their world and how they lived their lives before they met each other.
The angst is amazing, but the banter in this book is fantastic. The writing ranges from quick-witted and really fun, to descriptive and vivid, without being repetitive. It draws parallels for the reader between the characters and the situations they are in to create a deeper relationship to the story. I thought the careful writing added an element to this book that sets it apart, and that’s exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for.
I really enjoyed this book. I’m so glad there is more to come, and I can’t wait to read the next one!

It’s no secret that I adore rock star romance reads, so when I heard one of my favourite authors was launching a new series in this trope, my excitement levels went through the roof!
The Sound Between Us is the perfect title for this incredible story. I absolutely fell in love with Harrison-one third of Elementary and our leading man. Seren, who shares the storyline’s spotlight with him, is such a fabulous character too. I was rooting for them both from the very start. They shine individually, but together? Pure magic.
The chemistry between Harrison and Seren is electric - not just romantically, but creatively and emotionally. They bring out sides in each other that are raw, real, and deeply moving. Watching their journey unfold felt like riding a rollercoaster of emotions; all I wanted was for both of them to find their happiness.
There’s plenty of drama, and while I saw some twists coming, it didn’t take away from the emotional punch this story delivers. I felt deeply connected to both protagonists and was completely swept up in every heart-wrenching and heartwarming moment.
Anna Bloom has once again proven that she knows how to craft a deeply emotional and captivating story. I’m already counting down the days until the next installment - especially since this one perfectly sets the stage for Jamie’s book! I need to know what’s next for the members of Elementary, and of course, for Seren too.

This was probably one of the very few rockstar romance books I’ve ever read. I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this genre as it’s not something I usually gravitate to but I was pleasantly surprised. I feel like this author did a good job at understanding the cost of fame. While our FMC, Seren, is the daughter of two musicians, she found herself hiding away and just trying to be herself instead of being stuck behind her parents shadows. Our MMC, Harrison, is a lead singer of a band but the higher he rises in fame, the colder and lonely his life becomes.
When they both meet, I felt like the connection was instant and you could tell that they are both each others greatest want or greatest worry. The author did a great job at making this relationship a mess, especially when both MC’s are trying to find what they truly want in life so it’s only natural that it lead to constant uncertainty in their relationship. This story did have forms of grief and trauma but I do sort of wish things were touched on a bit more to get more background information about our characters and how they felt. Overall, this was a nice little easy read that was a decent palette cleanser for me and I think a lot of readers will enjoy this one!
