Presley goes back home to help Katy plan for her wedding to Chris and instead of nuptial bliss, realtor Bethany Granville is found dead in Katy’s salon. Katy didn’t even know Bethany. Ever curious Presley wants to solve the murder but as usual things aren’t that simple and grow even more complicated when ex-friend Dirt who was in jail for murder escapes.
Is he headed back into town? And did Chris know Bethany? All these are questions Presley is determined to get the answers to.
As a child, Laina thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.
Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.
She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.
She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. Her blog, In Pursuit of Fabulous, was launched to share the daily fun in her life as a Real Midlife Housewife of the Midwest.

I like this small town murder mystery with deception and gossip. This is a Presley Thurman mystery. Ms. Turner is a new to me author. I enjoyed this book and characters. Ms. Babb voiced the characters well.
Presley returns to her hometown to be the maid of honor at her best friends Katy’s wedding. She is not very happy that Katy has decided to marry Chris, but is biting her tongue and being the best support friend she can be. Presley’s relationship with Cooper has hit a bump and they are now on a break. A dead body is found at Katy’s beauty shop, but Katy doesn’t know the deceased, so why does her fiancé Chris?
Presley finds herself once again knee deep in murder and trying to solve the crime. With the same humor, quirky characters, and adventures as previous books in the series, the reader will enjoy some great plot twists, the return of some past characters, and a set of mysteries to resolve.

Well written. Presley goes back to her home town and it was lovely to catch up with Katy. The mystery was surprising, there was a big twist I hadn’t seen coming! Do not read this book as a standalone, best read this series in order.
After a couple of books where Presley's been in Texas and Cabo San Lucas with Cooper, she's back in the Chicagoland area, and this book is about a little girl time. Or it would have been if Presley hadn't discovered a dead body in her girlfriend’s beauty shop just when she arrived back in her hometown just a little south of Chicago. Her friend Katy doesn't know the realtor, but Katy’s fiance does. Oh, and before this all happened, Presley was trying out a new career of writing a food blog.
Will Presley try to figure out the murder? Does her friend's fiance have anything to do with it? Who would have something against a realtor anyway? Will Presley finally have struck gold in her new career as a food blogger, or is this 30-something woman still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up?
It was fun to see the switch up in this novel. The last couple of books have focused on Presley and Cooper, and now it's time for Presley to return to her roots. It was fun to see her interact with some of her gal pals and her mother.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Katy has decided to marry Chris, and Presley reluctantly agrees to be Maid of Honor.
An exercise in biting her tongue, Presley commits to keeping her own counsel about Chris and his mistreatment of Katy - until circumstances make than unlikely.
Katy says she finally agreed to marry Chris when she realized that despite their ups and downs, she could not imagine her life without him as a part of it.
Presley is in a bit of a relationship funk herself - Cooper spoke to her about getting married and she was more overwhelmed and shocked than engaging in a conversation about it. And he took a break - that might just get bigger.
It will become clear that good pal Dirt was allegedly not behind the murder of the Senator - and harbored some unexpected feelings.
Maybe the wedding march will have to wait for some other couples - Katy and Presley do not seem to be headed anywhere like that with Cooper and Chris.
A humorous, but personally bumpy, girl and friendship power mystery.
I received an advance copy of this book, but have read most of this series on KU, and bought several books in the series.
Our heroine is there to help her friend plan her wedding, but as usual things don't go as planned.
This is book eight in the series, but it functions perfectly well as a standalone. While it includes characters from previous books, you can easily pick up on the essential relationships needed to enjoy this story.
This is a cozy mystery featuring a somewhat ditsy PI, our heroine, who nonetheless seems to get the job done. By now, she has figured out how to make her unorthodox approach work for her. We are treated to a fun story with lots of twists and turns and a healthy dose of humor. I found the plot easy to follow and very engaging as I tried to figure out what crazy thing our heroine was going to do next. Overall, it made for a very enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

We find Presley Thurman going back home to Alkon for her best friends wedding and walking right into When immediately upon arrival she goes to her friends beauty salon and finds it not open yet for business for the day and a dead body inside, not her friend, nor a client of her friend. So why is the woman dead? and why is she left in Katy's salon? of course Presley must insert herself as much as possible in the investigation while still trying to help her friend finish up wedding plans and Presley must also try to figure out what to do about her own love life as her and Cooper (her boyfriend) seem to be not getting along at the moment.

Presley is headed home for her best friends wedding to on and off again boyfriend Chris whom doesn’t have the best record. When she finds a body in her friend Katy’s salon, Presley can’t help but to get involved to her mom and dads dismay. The more Presley digs into who could have left the body in her friends business the more things start falling apart; such as her friends wedding, an ex friend breaks out of prison. What will Presley do?
Narrator Michelle Babb is a joy to listen to and she always makes the characters seems so real that you feels as your friends with them.
Presley is back in her hometown as the maid of honor for her best friend Katy. But when a body is found in Katy's salon, putting a damper on the wedding, Presley jumps into action. Laina Turner has unique and clever stories with with fun characters, humor, and plot twists and turns you don't expect As much as I liked the book, I couldn't give it more stars because the editing/proofreading was so bad. And sometimes the dialog is hard to follow (who is saying what).

Presley returns to Alkon to attend Katy’s wedding. However, her own relationship with Cooper has hit a wall. What else could distract our heroine but another mystery. Vows and Victims is an excellent novel that includes welcomed old friends and resolution. I recommend this book and the other Presley Thurman mysteries.

Not only do we have a new murder, but the senator’s murderer is not actually Dirt! Plus Katy is getting married but the new dead body is found in her beauty salon, which really messes up things. But things get crazier when she learns something about her fiancé, as well as how Dirt feels about her. Crazy! I really enjoy this series and now that editing is getting better I’m enjoying it more!

An happy occasion is marred by another murder. Presley is determined to help her friend Katy by solving the murder. This story has a couple of subplots that also needs to be solved. This book is a little shorter and a quicker read than most of the other books in the series. Fans of the Presley Thurman series will love this book.

Vows & Victims (Presley Thurman Mystery Book 8) by Laina Turner
This is a clean cozy that is a quick listen. I missed out on the beginning of the series, but there was enough back story that this made sense. I liked it enough to go back and get the rest of the series.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. I have always enjoyed Michelle Babb's work!!!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This time you get a double Good-bye. Presley is back home for her best friends wedding and before the day really even starts Presley finds a dead body. As Presley trys to solve this murder mystery another lands into her path.New and familiar caracters have you wanting to fallow through to the very end to see who's at fault.
Presley heads home to help her friend plan for her wedding. Things take a turn when the local realtor is found dead. As usual Presley is determined to find the person responsible. Another good book in the series and Laina does a great job with the story line and characters.

It’s fall and I thought a cozy mystery book would be the perfect thing for the season. This book was just meh though. The main character constantly talking about how she can’t eat this food because it has too many calories. And how if she eats a muffin she’ll never fit into her dress was so annoying.
I didn't really care for this book. I didn't read the one that told about Dirt killing the senator, if I had I might have understood it more. I thought it was boring at times. I hope that others enjoy it, but I didn't.
Presley returns home for Katy's wedding, to be the maid of honor. Within minutes of her arrival she finds a dead body on Katy's shop. Of course she must figure out this mystery.
Presley as a food blogger just does not sound right! She returns home for her friend Katy's wedding and everything seems to fall apart as she discovers a body.....yes, again! Good story line

I love the humor and the characters, of course. I love the story/plot and action. I love how I am unable to figure out who dun it until the in. What more could I want in a mystery?

A humorous read with suspense, murder and humor. Don't know how that will work out. You will have to read to find the answer. I found them a quick easy read with humor.

Presley does it again. She shows up in town just in time to find a body. This time it's in her best friend's business. And of course she can't leave well enough alone. It is in her BFF's shop and just before her wedding. What choice did she have.
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is filled with action, adventure, and twist and turns. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
This was a decent read and the plot was quick and engaging. However, Presley's constant agonizing over what she was eating got very old, very quickly, and it really ruined the vibe for me.
I enjoyed this book. The main characters are fun and some of the supporting characters are a hoot. The plot is straightforward, and the premise is finding out who killed the real estate agent and why. The answers were as convoluted as you can get in a mystery. I definitely recommend this book.
