In a town where secrets cling to the trees like moss, some things are better left buried. For Skyla Bishop, being uprooted from her life in sunny Florida to the remote, chilling town of Hemlock Hollow is a nightmare. The forest is too dense, the locals are too watchful, and the feeling of being an outsider is a constant, unnerving weight. She and the other two generations of Bishop women are no strangers to whispers and rumors thanks to a so-called family curse that scares men away. But Hemlock Hollow holds a different kind of darkness, one that whispers of missing people and things that go bump in the night. When a chance encounter with three devastatingly handsome and enigmatic men leaves Skyla's world spinning, she's pulled into a reality she thought only existed in her grandmother's wild tales. These men are more than they seem, and their intense, possessive interest in her awakens something ancient and powerful within Skyla herself. Forced to confront a destiny she never knew she had, Skyla must navigate a world of supernatural politics, rival packs, and a fated Bond that could either be her salvation or her ruin. Because in Hemlock Hollow, the woods are watching, the shadows have teeth, and falling in love might be the most dangerous thing she could ever do.
I loved this standalone. It had everything a perfect fated mates reverse harem is supposed to have. I didn’t want it to end! I swooned, I cried, I loved all the characters. It was perfection.
Wasn’t sure what to expect when reading this ARC as I was in a bit of a book slump but this made me smile and made me cry. The spells between chapters made me wish I was a witch so I could try them out. The perfect book to read for Halloween
Buckle up and turn off your brain. Actually, just take the whole thing out of your skull and set it aside for later. You won’t be needing it for a while.
Why did the author even pretend this was about an apothecary shop? It’s like she wrote a couple chapters of a small town, cozy, Hallmark Halloween romance and then got bored. Remembered she had an old, crusty why-choose, wolf-shifter horn fest under her bed, dusted that bad boy off, and called it a day. Here we go.
Meet Skyla. A barely-not-a-high-schooler from Florida who is moving to the northeast for a couple months with her mom and nana and is super pissy about it. She smells like lavender and sage and is from Florida. Like any good FMC she is 50% bratty and 50% horny. Please notice that leaves 0% left for self preservation. Also she’s from Florida. Meet Rose, Skyla’s Nana. She’s smells like, and I quote, “lavender and wisdom.” Right. Nana is a super powerful witch but you don’t know that yet. She inexplicably doesn’t tell Skyla anything about who she is or what she can do or how to make spells or how to use her power or what is going on. But other than that she’s great. Meet Amara, Skyla’s mom. She’s also there. Well, kind of. She spends 90% of the book at a conference securing “important contracts for the apothecary.” Sure.
The Bishop family (who all smell like lavender and are from Florida) open an apothecary shop in Hemlock Grove or something. Skyla works for exactly 5 seconds before three super hotties come in and get her all in a tizzy. This is how they enter the scene. Tell me this is not for real. Please. “He enters with the fluid grace of a predator, flanked by two friends who move with the same confident, almost arrogant bearing. They head straight to the cupcake stand…” Amazing. Anyway, time to meet the love interests. Because yep. She gets three.
Meet Eli. His hair is midnight black and he’s an alpha. He’s a walking smirk with abs and a chiseled jaw. Meet Tristan. He is also an alpha (I thought there could only be one alpha in a pack??) but he’s not *as* alpha as the other alpha. Also he’s a blonde. Meet Caleb. He is a beta, so he (apparently) doesn’t have a knot. But his dong is the biggest. According to him. So suck it, alphas. But not literally. They don’t do that in this book.
Anyway. A lot of stupid shit happens. Some girl named Alex is eviscerated like 10 feet from Skyla and she somehow doesn’t hear it. And nobody gives a crap about this. I cannot stress enough how little anybody cares about this event. What else happens? I don’t even care. Oh. Skyla is revealed to be an Omega, which is super rare. Also she’s a Fated Mate to all three of these yahoos which “isn’t uncommon in Wolf Packs, though it’s incredibly rare.” Huh?!? Which is it?! Oh and because she’s an omega their bond gives them all eternal life. A fact they forget to mention to her when they sit down and explain the whole bonding thing to her. She finds out after the fact and is mad and how do Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and Tweedlebeta respond? They basically say, “oh my bad, we thought your nana told you.” She eventually decides she doesn’t have the right to be mad at them about it. And this is why we can’t have protagonists who are 19.
Some super baddie alpha from a rival pack kidnaps her and wants to do a ceremony to destroy the bond so he can have her eternal life perk for himself. She meets …. some other chick. Let’s call her Emily. She finds out Emily has to do whatever her alpha says because she was forcefully bonded to him against her will. Skyla is super upset about this (bile rises on numerous occasions) and vows to save her. During the bond breaking ceremony everyone comes to rescue her (but not her mom she’s still “securing contracts”) and her Nana sacrifices herself to save Skyla. Skyla then comes into her full Omega witch powers and kills everyone from the rival pack. Including Emily presumably. I don’t know. She’s never mentioned again. No one gives a fuck. Alex 2.0. Anyway that’s about it. They’re going to live in Hemlock Hollow or whatever permanently and she’s going to bang her dudes and her mom’s got so many contracts I guess. The end.
Please enjoy this selection of amazing quotes:
“You’d look gorgeous buried under that snow out in the woods.” (Spoken by a mustache-twirlingly bad villain)
“I…want to knot her until she’s screaming my name.” (Barf).
“He grabs a piece of plastic off the boxes he’s perched on and starts twirling it through his long fingers, and I find myself mesmerized by the simple movement.” (Girl, get a grip.)
“Because I am more darkness than innocence, more winter storm than summer rain.” (Save it for your MySpace page.)
“I find myself hoping desperately that they don’t give way and sprinkle a dusting of fresh snow over what will soon be my naked, vulnerable body.” (I laughed out loud at this.)
“I’m shitting myself as well,” he admits with a smirk, squeezing me tighter against him. “We can shit ourselves together,” I laugh, and the sound helps ease some of the tension coiled tight in my chest.” (Wow. Just wow.)
“You couldn’t have known,” Tristan says gently. “None of us could have predicted this.” (Said about something numerous people predicted.)
“…to sit in the space where she spent so many years helping people find hope and healing.” (They have lived here and worked in this shop for like 2 months tops. What the fuck is she talking about years. Did the authors even read this?)
“The tea leaves have settled into a perfect pattern—the unmistakable shape of a small cabin, complete with what appears to be a chimney and a front door. And right beside it, clear as day, is a tiny five-pointed star. My breath catches in my throat as understanding washes over me like a warm wave. It’s as if I instinctively know what the leaves are telling me…” (Skyla. I think it would be virtually impossible for the tea leaves to be any more obvious.)
Anyway there you go. Now you don’t have to read this vapid, repetitive, clunky, stupid waste of time.

This was a book club pick that I DNF’d after 10 chapters. I can usually persevere through most books, even if I don’t love them, but this one made me cringe too much.
I loved this book. Such a great read and adventure. And I loved the wording used in this book, like when Skyla comments on her family being weird and hocus pocus ways. And then when she’s trying not to think about the boys. Saying “ okay, sky, think of something other than naked Eli. One Mississippi, two Mississippi. It’s not fucking working, Mississippi. I could stop laughing at that part. Strongly recommend this book. Such a feel good adventure story.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book ⭐️⭐️⭐️ narrator First person- multi POV 🌶️🫑 MF no sword crossing Solo narration- not particularly great, her FMC voice was perfect! But there was 0 difference between any of the bar acted voices so it was really hard to keep up with the story. Also, the volume was quite up and down, as if one minute she was next to the microphone and the next she was sat back, plus there were the odd words or lines that were over loud an crisp- as if they were a last minute addition or correction.
The story was really interesting and it at all what I was expecting from the cover or title! I expected something cozier and cutesy, particularly after the first few chapters mentioned so many comfy things like Gilmore girls and practical magic. But instead we got a layered plot and characters with a deep history and dark past.
I love a dark read, I love shifters and witches and I enjoy a cozy read so this is pretty much my ideal book, but it was towing the line really, not fleshed out enough to be a great paranormal romance, too much trauma and darkness to be cozy.
I enjoyed it, I will red this author again and give the narrator bother chance also, but I won’t be re reading this book. I would recommend it to people that like twists, passion, darkness and a great witch storyline. There wasn’t much spice and the multiple mates weren’t thrown in your face which makes it so a good book to read if you’re new to, or intrigued by the why choose trope!
This book was the coziest little trap I’ve ever fallen into. One minute I’m sipping tea, thinking “aww, cute snow town,” and the next minute I’m feral, clutching the pages like, “MA’AM WHAT DO YOU MEAN THREE FATED MATES??”
The world-building? Gorgeous. I could practically feel the cold breeze and hear the locals whispering like, “Yep, another supernatural disaster brewing must be Tuesday.”
And the little spells at the start of each chapter? I was reading them like I had any business dabbling with magic. If something starts levitating in my house, I blame this book.
We follow Skyla, who goes from Florida sunshine to Hemlock Hollow’s frosty, witch-infused chaos. She steps foot in this town for two seconds and instantly inherits: 🧙♀️ a family curse 🐺 three dangerously attractive men 🌨️ snow trauma ✨ and a plot thick enough to drown in
The Omegaverse tension?? Listen. LISTEN. I have read slow burns, but this one had me kicking my feet and giggling like a possessed Victorian child. Every growl, every “are you okay?” with that protective edge… I ascended.
Then THE BONDING CEREMONY hits, and suddenly I’m wiping tears, fanning myself, and whispering “this is art.” It was emotional, magical, and so swoony I nearly fell off my couch.
And the Bishop women? Skyla, her mom, her gran absolute icons. If they told me to walk into the woods at midnight with a jar of salt and a questionable chant, I’d be like, “Which direction?” Their love, secrets, and fierce unity gave this story the warmest, witchiest heart.
The ending? A bittersweet, teary HEA that wrapped everything up beautifully while still emotionally ruining me (in a nice way). This standalone RH had everything: spice, wolves, witches, family feels, tension you could cut with a ceremonial dagger I DIDN’T WANT IT TO END.
Absolute perfection. I loved every chaotic, magical second.
Pumpkin Spice Apothecary is a fascinating series starter, with a great plot and a plethora of diverse characters. This spicy and emotional reverse harem witchy-wolfy story brings the heat, action, suspense, emotion, and drama galore! Eli, Tristen, and Caleb are alpha growly shifters who are all fated mates to Skyla, who is a driven and independent young woman who has no idea what she really is. I loved learning more about her family and history as the story unfolded. The scenes between her and her mates are sizzling! Her stubbornness definitely gets her into trouble, and it is interesting how sometimes she’ll spout off and other times she won’t say anything. I would have loved to see more of the dynamics between Eli, Tristen, and Caleb since they grew up together and have always been thick as thieves—I felt like we barely scratched the surface with those three. Skyla’s mom and grandma are a beautiful support system for her, and their history and how it interweaves with the wolf pack is beautifully built. The action scenes are packed and powerful, balanced well with the touching moments between Skyla and her three mates. The drama and danger elements are threaded throughout nicely to keep the pace and plot moving forward. The single narrator performed Skyla’s role very well, but I wish she would have switched up her voice tones and inflections for the various other characters and their perspectives. The entire story sounded like one person’s perspective instead of the 4 different personalities and characters who lead this tale. Overall and enjoyable audiobook—it’ll be interesting to see where we go next.

Let's start with the vibes: imagine the coziest, most picturesque small town, buried under a blanket of snow, where everyone knows everyone... and a few of them might just be supernatural beings. It’s the perfect setting for our girl Skyla, who trades Florida sun for Hemlock Hollow's frosty mysteries. And speaking of mysteries, the Bishop family curse? The whispers of witches? I was hooked from page one!
But the real magic starts when Skyla literally stumbles into three devastatingly handsome men who just scream trouble in the best way. This is where the Omegaverse elements shine, and let me tell you, the possessive, "who hurt you?" energy is off the charts. The tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife!
My absolute favourite, heart-melting part was the bonding ceremony. It was so beautifully written, full of raw emotion, ancient magic, and enough swoon to power the entire town. It was the perfect payoff for all the delicious build-up.
And can we please talk about the family feels? The Bishop women....Skyla, her mom, her grandma, are a force to be reckoned with. Their bond, their secrets, and their fierce love for each other added such a rich, heartfelt layer to the story. It’s not just about fated mates; it’s about the family you’re born into and the one you find.
In short: This book has it all! Witches, wolves, a snowy small town, a fated bond that will leave you breathless, and a family you'll wish you could join. Do yourself a favour and get lost in Hemlock Hollow. Just maybe leave a light on… the shadows have teeth, after all! 😉🐺✨
Well, I’ve enjoyed a couple other books by Doon, so how could I not check this one out?! Oddly, I’ve no idea what number in the series this is, as, while it’s triple-listed on Goodreads, none of them contain series numbers, nor do Amazon or Audible—odd but no biggie.
If I had to guess: I’d say book 1, because it starts out with the FMC and her family relocating, newly/actively, to Hemlock Hollow.
Written in first-person POV, alternating. (Though you have to pay attention if you do the audio, as a female narrators ‘his’ parts as well and it’s easy to miss that you’re in his head now. Present tense.
I was drawn in right away—who doesn’t love a good fresh start / creepy small town read?! It grew intriguing very early in and I was hooked! Things are just … (without spoiling anything) not all they seem!
Packs:
🍂 Shifters. ⚗️ Magic / witches. 🍂 Small town. ⚗️ Fresh start complete with culture shock. 🍂 Secrets. ⚗️ Instalove / fate. 🍂 Fated mates? ⚗️ A / B/ O / dynamic. 🍂 Rival packs. ⚗️ Danger. 🍂 Found family. ⚗️ Mysteries everywhere. 🍂 M4t3 bit3s.
Overall: This was a really fun world to slip into—cozy, suspense-y, secretive … and later heartwrenching. Oh it was so, so good. I’ve only recently discovered these authors, but I’m quickly coming to love them! Totally need more in this world. 4 stars.
🎙️ Audiobook: Great! The narrator did a great job, for the most part. She could come of a little robotic at times, but mostly she acted and it was decent. Overall sound quality is okay—not as crisp and clear as I’d like but decent, again. 4 stars.
I thought this was going to be a straight up cosy omegaverse but there are some glimpses of darker elements which I enjoyed too. It did leave me wanting a bit more though as one in particular felt pretty pivotal but there was no real follow up after it happened (the incident at the party with Alex). I'd have loved to have seen more of the hierarchy and fallout of the warring packs too as the mythology and history of the packs was one of things which kept me hooked.
I listened to the audio and it felt more like a talking book for me rather than an immersive listen as there wasn't much variation between the performances of the characters but the narrator was perfect for Skyla. There were a couple of times I got Tristen and Caleb's POVs mixed up along the way but as the MMCs are together most of the time so it didn't really matter; Eli was 100% my favourite and felt like the most developed of the three.
Skyla was definitely the stand out role though and this was giving Practical Magic vibes from the get go. I loved her relationship with her Nana and her mum and I enjoyed the reveal about the Bishop curse. I really enjoyed the spookier elements of the story and would be interested in a return trip to Hemlock Hollow for a follow up.
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
I thought I was getting a cozy witchy read… then Hemlock Hollow showed me its teeth! 🎃 “In Hemlock Hollow, the woods are watching, the shadows have teeth, and falling in love might be the most dangerous thing.”
Skyla’s move from sunny Florida to this colder, snowy little town quickly turns into so much more than she bargained for. Witches, shifters, secrets, a family curse, and three very possessive fated mates gave me cozy cottagecore vibes with a darker edge.
And the chemistry between Skyla and her three mates? The tension was there, the possessiveness was strong, and I was absolutely here for it🔥
I especially loved the Bishop women and the mystery surrounding their family history. The story has that cozy fall atmosphere, but don’t let it fool you… there’s plenty of darkness hiding underneath.
If you like witchy paranormal romance with twists, secrets, and just enough spice, add this one to your list! And now I’m wondering… why am I suddenly craving a lavender margarita?
💫 Pumpkin Spice Apothecary by Melinda Terranova & Cassandra Doon Paranormal Romance | Small-Town Romance | Reserve Harem | Witches & Shifters | Family Curse | Found Family | Fated Mates | 359 pp | 4⭐
💫 Favorite Quote: "She smells like magic, like power, like something wild and untamed that calls to the wolf in me in ways I don't understand.”
This was not what I was expecting, it was better! I expected a cozy, small town romance, (never read the blurb), but this wasn’t cozy at all. It was tense, eery, dangerous, sexy, hot, spicy and heartbreaking. The history of the Bishop’s was sad, finding love and losing it. Nana was amazing, Skyla and her relationship with both her Nana and her mother was solid and beautiful. But I understood her pain at not being told what she was getting into with Eli, Tristan and Caleb. Some kind of training from her family would have been good, instead of sending her into the world like a sacrificial lamb. The Blackthorne guys were hot, sweet, protective and so eager to get it right with Skyla, not that they always did, but you could see their hearts were in the right place, even if they messed up, and they did, a lot. My heart broke for Emma, I kind of hope she gets a second chance story and also for Skyla at the end. I really enjoyed this, the spice was hot, the characters were so well written, I really cared and shed a tear at the end and the story and action were fast paced and punchy. If they write more, I want to read it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️
I just loved everything about this book. There's magic and wolf shifters and the sp!ce is oh so good.
Skyla moves to Hemlock Hollow with her mom and grandma because her mom wanted something new. Her mom opens a shop called Pumpkin Spice Apothecary. Skyla notices weird things when she goes for her run in the woods. Always feels like eyes are watching her. When she is working at the shop, she sees three gorgeous men enter and when one talks to her she feels this pull towards him.
When Skyla goes to a party, she encounters something crazy and when she sees the three guys again she feels these feelings for all three of them.
Skyla will learn there are dangers in this town and that the three guys are hoping to protect her. She will also learn more about herself and her grandma and mom too.
Will Skyla give in to what she feels for these three or will she run the other way? What about the dangers that seem to be wherever she turns? Read this book to find out. Oh so good!
Oh, this book might just be my break back into shifter romances. Skyla having moved to a new town with her mother and grandmother to open up a new apothecary, being thrown into the world of witches and shifters, and having to deal with what she truly is is sure to throw you into a fun ride.
The good mix of drama, spice and romance make this such a fun reverse harem shifter read.
And can't forget giving Donna Frank the praise she deserves as she did a wonderful job narrating the book. The only downside I had was that I did get lost a few times on which character I was on with just having the one narrator so the three MMCs merged together a few times for me. Other than that, it was a fun journey to go on and I'll happily be keeping an eye out for both authors and narrator's other projects.
This was just a great story from start to finish and I loved every second of it. Skyla, her mom and grandma have just moved to small town life, her mom has opened an apothecary in town. Skyla is going about her business when she meets Eli, Tristan and Caleb. These young men are HOT HOT HOT!! Btw, I just absolutely love the name Eli.
This book was just beautifully written and the bonding scene between them was just so wonderful and it definitely had me in my feelings.
I hope there are more books like this. It wasn't dark, it did have some scenes though. Overall I thought it was a cozy little PNR book I could read in front of a fireplace (if I had a fireplace) and curl up with a nice cup of chai or hot chocolate.
Absolutely not what I expected, but OMG - I LOVED IT! What I thought I was getting
🎃 Small town romance 🍭 Sugar and spice, everything nice 👻Found Family
What I got 🧙A badass witch FMC from a family of badass witches 🐺 3 hot as hell shifters who are determined to make her the centre of their universe 💀A plot that will have you grabbing your tissues and bursting with joy in the same paragraph
This was the book that popped my omegaverse 🍒 (I was a little terrified TBH - I didn’t realise when I put my hand up for the ARC, I just love Melinda’s books that I have read) but now it definitely will not be the last!
This book was perfection. Loved the characters, the plot and the writing style. The story was fun and light until it wasn't and then it puts you in your feels.
Donna Frank narrated this and she did a wonderful job with voicing all the characters. I think it would have a better wow factor as an audiobook if there was at least duel narration if not multiple narrators for the MCs parts.

Great fall read or whatever the mood strikes. You have witches, shifters, alphas, omegas, fates mates, hidden identity. Skyla and her mother and grandmother move to a new town. Her mother has bought a store to sell her apothecary items. Her and her grandmother work there with her. While living there she meets three men. They tell her what age is she who she is to them. While also dealing with a rival pack that wants Skyla. Read Skyla’s story to find out what she is and what happens to her abs these three men.
Tension/Chemistry: 🥵 1/5 Spice Level: 🌶🌶 2/5 (based on what I read but I didn't get to 50% so potentially 3?)
Spicy Chapters: 13, (DNF ch 15) Number of Spicy Scenes: ?
🎧 Audiobook: Individual female narrator Narrators: Donna Frank Audio Rating: 3/5⭐️ (narrator doesn't adjust her voice for male characters so it's a bit harder to follow)
This story was entertaining. I loved characters and their chemistry for each other. It was a reverse harem with paranormal elements which I loved. The town of Hemlock Hallow was uniquely mysterious. I think that the voice acting was done so well. I think the actor did the characters so well. They all managed to sound different from each other..

A standalone listen that is perfect for the fall season. A swoony reverse harem romance that's so much more. Doon delivers the sweet, the heat and all the feels in this well written, beautifully balanced and wonderfully narrated read / listen. A paranormal romance that's well worth the time and I can't wait to see what's next from Doon!

After moving to Hemlock Hollow with her mother and grandmother Skyla, her mother opens a shop called Pumpkin Spice Apothecary. Skyla starts to notice's and feel she is being watched. Things get stranger when three very sexy men walk into the shop. Feeling a pull towards them. Danger seems to follow them. Or are they to protect her against the danger. So hear me out, witches and wolf shifters and a witch omega! Three beautiful wolf shifters that are 2 alphas and a beta. A witch omega that has no idea who she is. This is a must read! Brilliant concept!
