I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

I picked this book up when I had a stressful and busy week and just wanted a comforting and fun read. And that's exactly what this book was. I enjoyed reading about Bo and Neptune who meet on a cruise organizing by the paranormal dating agency Jinx. Neither are there to find romance, but they connect and they grow closer. While the title mentions it as a summer fling, it's obvious from the start that there are deeper emotions involved.

I really liked this romance, both Bo and Neptune were great characters and I loved them together. I liked their banter and the way they opened up to each other. There are some great scenes with them getting to know eahc other and telling each other about themselves. I liked seeing Neptune telling Bo about his past, including the people who mattered to him as well as events from history he experienced. And their visit/date to Rome was so fun. I liked seeing Bo have a chance to relax and think of what she wanted besides her work.

This was such a lovely romance story and I really enjoyed reading about these two. I thought the setting aboard a cruise ship was fun too, although I would've liked to see a bit more of the ship and their experience of the cruise. There is a cameo appearance of the couple from book 5 as Bo works for Mei. I also appreciated how there is a bit about Neptune's powers and we got to see some of them in action.

To summarize: This was a sweet and cute romance between Bo and sea god Neptune, there's a bit of steam as well. I really liked these two together, I liked their banter and the way they opened up to other about themselves. Their date in Rome was such a great scene. The cruise ship setting was fun too and I liked learning a bit about Neptune's powers and history. There is no drama and I liked the epilogue.

Oh, honey, if you're a fan of Laura Greenwood's magical matchmaking, then buckle up because Summer Fling with a Sea God is serving romance with a splash of divine swagger! Our favorite modern-day god of the sea, Neptune, is back, and this time, he's caught in a delightful slow-burn love story with Bo, a Xian Fae who’s trying to keep her head above water as manager for the superstar musician Mei (yes, from a previous book—Greenwood always knows how to tie her universes together!).

This story gives you everything you'd expect from Greenwood: wit, charm, and romance that’ll have you smiling like you're watching a rom-com under the stars. There’s playful banter, a dreamy scene in Rome (because who doesn’t love a little Roman holiday with a god?), and a perfect balance of steam without going overboard on the smut. It’s flirty, funny, and exactly what you need for those days when life feels too serious.

And let’s talk about the chemistry—Neptune and Bo are just adorable. Their romance feels organic, and the slow-burn vibe makes every moment count. Greenwood keeps it light and breezy, never veering into cringe territory, proving once again that she’s a master of delivering feel-good, heartwarming tales that don't leave you drowning in cliché.

So, if you’re in the mood for something fun and uplifting, this book will be your perfect poolside companion. 100% recommended, and yes, Neptune can take me on a Roman vacation any day!

***Does include some mild spice***

Flirting With Neptune is a look into the relationship of Mei's manager and so although it isn't required to read the other books, I would suggest One Night With Chiguo only if you want a general insight into the relationship between Bo and Mei . Each book in ths series is a different couple but with usually one participant related in some degree to a participant in the previous book.

The best parts of the book to me is the Preface, which is formulaic throughout the series but provides readers with a look into the god(s) and/or paranormal found in the particular book you're reading. This is further elaborated on in the Author's Note> at the back of the book.

As for the story it wasn't one of the better ones. Bo comes off feeling quite a bit different than she did in the previous book and Neptune just felt dull, without any personality until towards the very end. Since of their stormy start, Bo's indecisiveness and the hero being a lurch, the majority of the book is fumbing conversations that aren't worth eavesdropping on. And not until past the midway mark do we get any action, which comes around in one of the most awkward ways to date.

All in all it was an okay read if you like a brief romance based on little known gods from around the world and aren't looking for a committed long-term relationship.

SUMMER FLING WITH A SEA GOD is the sixth installment in the Jinx Paranormal Dating Agency series by Laura Greenwood. This particular story is about a Chinese Xian diety who is a workaholic manager and a Roman Sea God who loves his freedom. Get ready for a little steam and lots of romance.

In an effort to promote her boss in the paranormal world, Bo has booked Mimi on a Jinx Cruise Ship, basically a Love Boat for gods and the  paranormal. The first morning out, Bo meets a dolphin shifter. Managing a singing star doesn’t leave much time to relax let alone spending time with a handsome dolphin shifter, but it is a temptation she cannot resist, even after she learns he's a sea god.  As they grow closer she keeps telling herself, this is only a Summer Fling. Nothing serious can happen. At the end of the cruise they both will go their own busy way. But will they, long distance romance is so hard to do.

This was a nice short story of a growing romance. I recommend this story of a not particularly powerful Chinese diety and a Roman God of the sea.

I did receive a copy from the author and this is my freely given and honest review

Very enjoyable (and makes me want to try others in the series)

This isn't my usual style but, as I like a lot of Laura's other books, I thought I'd give this a try - glad that I did!

I haven't read any of the preceding books in this series so can't comment on how well it fits in / follows on or whatever but I can say that it definitely works as a standalone read.

The main characters (Bo & Neptune) are presented well (and from two viewpoints), not just objectively descriptive but with appropriate colouration from the observer - a polite way of saying that their lustful thoughts (and actions) are tastefully captured!

The supporting characters & environment are well drawn and certainly complete enough for this story. (Presumably, some will feature in the other books of the series, providing links/details that might help but are not required to enjoy this book).

Overall, this is a book that is well-balanced between dream & steam, thoughts & actions, and was a delightful introduction (to me) of yet another side of Laura's talented writing!

This book was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed reading about Neptune in this story. It was also nice to learn more about Bo as her and Neptune grew closer throughout the book as well as getting to catch up with Mei and Chiguo from Dating A Music God. I look forward to reading about Thor in the next book Rejecting a Thunder God.

He's not like Poseidon

A sweet romance mixing gods and mythology from round the world. The god realm is fun to picture, a Greek temple next to a Chinese shrine and an Italian restaurant. The idea of ancient gods using apps in the modern world is also great. The story is lighthearted with plenty of humor, and there are some fun steamy scenes between the main characters.

Bo is Mei's manager (book 5, Dating A Music God) and goes with her when she's performing on a Jinx cruise. While enjoying the view she meets a dolphin shifter, though they forget to give their names to each other before she has to dash. Neptune is pleased though when he sees her again and though neither is on the cruise looking for love, the more they get to know each other the more they are drawn to each other. But is it just a summer cruise fling or can they make a long term relationship work?

I loved the sweet banter between this pair as well as Neptune's problems of being compared to his Greek counterpart, Poseidon; and meeting his family.

Another entertaining, easy to read book from Ms. Greenwood. I don't think I've ever read anything from her that I didn't enjoy!

This series is about regular paranormals falling in love with ancient "mythological" Gods. I'm mostly familiar with Norse, Greek & Roman mythology. This one briefly touched on ancient Asian deities, but it's a real light touch so my lack of knowledge didn't impact my enjoyment.

There is no emotional stress in this story (a good thing in 2024!), & it's easy & enjoyable to read. My only criticism is I wish it had been longer.

Highly recommended, though be aware it's intentional very light reading.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Envy can be a positive emotion…
…especially when it leads us to seek out similar happiness for ourselves.

*Even *I* would give up a morning cup of coffee for a chance to swim with dolphins!
*I really enjoyed the “comparison” to ancient gladiators and modern-day musicians…explains a lot about how the immortals developed a human following in order to become gods.

Some sage advice from the author:
Always continue learning (people, places, things).
Food is a wonderful way to share a piece of home.
‘Sometimes, you find things when you're not looking for them.’

Fave lines:
‘Travel is one of life's true pleasures.’
‘The sea always has a way of bringing people together.’

I would LUV a sculpture by a god … looking forward to more artwork in ‘Competing Against Thor’.

A sweet summer romance. I won’t say fling as it’s more than that although there is a bit of open endedness to it due to work and life. Bo you may remember from Mei/Mimi’s story. It’s fun to see the strict and buttoned up manager let her hair down and just relax and enjoy herself. Neptune is different from what I’d expected but not in a bad way. I guess I’m guilty of assigning Poseidon’s traits to him as well. A cruise love story with a decent amount of spice. It starts with a chance sighting of a dolphin swimming in the sea and ends with two people falling in love.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Despite being on a Jinx cruise, talent manager, Bo, is too busy for romance. Launching the next phase of Mei/Mimi’s career is taking all of her focus. She especially doesn’t want to do anything to offend or anger the gods. Imagine her surprise to find out the dolphin she watched swim was not only a shifter, but Neptune himself. Neptune isn’t looking for romance, but he’s intrigued by Bo. As their attraction and connection leads to a physical relationship, could it be more than just a summer fling?

After meeting Bo as a side character in Mei & Chiguo’s story, it was nice to see her find love as well. The connection between her and Neptune was nicely established. Laura Greenwood does a great job utilizing the rich tapestry of world mythologies in this series creating a believable world where the pantheons coexist. With Greek and Roman gods merged in many traditional stories, it was nice to see them clearly delineated here. A fun and lighthearted romance.

Why have I not found this series sooner?! I love series where the characters carry on from one book to the next, moving from background to lead and back, and this seems to be the case here.

Neither Bo, not Neptune are looking for romance when they join the cruise, both have other reasons to be there, but let's face it, it's a romance book, we know why we're here!

It's sweet, it's romantic and it's low drama - sometimes that's exactly what you need! Now to go binge the rest of the series!

Summer Fling With A Sea God (Jinx Paranormal Dating Agency #6) by Laura Greenwood is a paranormal romance book. This author’s books are so much fun to read. For me they are a palate cleanser between my dark and twisted dark romance novels. This book is funny, light, romantic, clean and refreshing. I really enjoyed the characters and thought they fit the story well.

The paranormal dating agency Jinx connected Bo and Neptune. Oh what a pair they make. Definitely expect to laugh, laugh and enjoy every minute of this story.

All aboard for love!

Bo is on board a Jinx Cruise with her client Mimi. Managing a singing star doesn’t leave much time for herself but spending a little time with the handsome dolphin shifter is a temptation she cannot resist.

Neptune finds himself drawn to the dark-haired beauty. There is something about her that just feels right.

What a gentle, sweet romance! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I enjoyed this story. Most of these in this series are sort of airy and light hearted. I did not know that when the Pacific Ocean meet the Atlantic Ocean that they did not mix. I learned a couple of months ago that they did not. It was a shock to me. I can see why the Jinx Cruse needed a God of the Sea. I had fun reading this one. I really enjoyed this story. Bo, our protagonist, is on one of the Jinx's Paranormal Dating Agency cruises, working as the agent for her friend, Mei, who is some of the live entertainment. As the cruise progresses, Bo runs into a dolphin shifter who is none other than Neptune himself! As the cruise progresses, Neptune and Bo are swept into a summer fling, but the real question is...what happens when the cruise ends? Fans of quick, breezy romance will like this story!

Another funny, enjoyable story about the Gods mixing it up and falling in love. It was great reading about past characters that pop up from time to time and seeing how their stories move forward. This series and the Obscure series are my stress reliever, I mean how can you be stressed when you're laughing about these characters antics!! I love me some Laura Greenwood!!

So, like other reviewers have mentioned, I don't usually read this kind of book as I’m more of a urban fantasy reader really. But yep I liked this one, read it quite quickly. I was engrossed in the story between the couple and how it develops. I can see the attraction of this book and I’m glad I gave it a try. Recommended read.

A cute story, I enjoyed how Bo and Neptune met. They were both attracted to each other and tried to avoid each other, but it was difficult. The time spent on ship kept you reading wondering what they would do next. I loved how music was a part of the story. I highly recommend this quick fun read. A short sweet read. Bo is working for her client and meets neptune, but she doesn't realise it is him at first. Talking flows easy and the flirting is harmless. Bo and neptune didn't go on the Jinx cruise for love but both realise they have a spark together. A good read and well written.
