We jumped into this series at book 12 because we were heading to Joshua Tree and thought it would be fun to read. It was fun to read. The beginning of the book had some clumsy writing and uneccesary details, the constant talks about cheez -its comr to mind. My son actually asked me to skip most of the silly jokes and food references because they were distracting from the story. That is really the only complaint though. The story was good, the plot was a little "fantastic" but exciting and it was appropriate for the 8 - 12 age group.
