War looms. Magic stirs. And a girl born of silence may become the storm no crown can command.
Hidden away by ancient spells, Lirien has lived her life in shadows, unseen by the courts that dread her awakening. But when battle shatters her sanctuary and chaos spreads across enchanted soil, she's thrust into a destiny she cannot outrun.
With Kaelen bleeding at the heart of war and her own magic awakening, Lirien must hide as the world burns--or rise as something the crowns never foresaw.
The Enchanted Wing is a fast-paced fantasy perfect for fans of epic fae courts, ancient prophecies, and heroines who discover power they were never meant to wield.
Dalton has always been drawn to the power of storytelling. After spending 15 years in the hair industry–where creativity and connection were daily essentials–he returned to his first love: writing. That rediscovery gave rise to The Enchanted Wing and its unfolding series, where mythic wonder meets emotional depth. Dalton lives in a small town in Texas with his loyal dog, Grey, who’s never far from his side during late-night writing sessions. His work explores transformation, memory, and identity, inviting readers into worlds that feel both magical and deeply human.
The Enchanted Wing by Dalton Way feels like the kind of fantasy book that grabs you by the throat in chapter one and refuses to let you breathe normally again until the final page. This story is packed with ancient magic, dangerous secrets, prophecy drama, emotional chaos, and enough tension to keep you aggressively saying “okay, one more chapter” for hours. Lirien was easily my favorite part of the book. She has that isolated, hidden-away upbringing that could have felt familiar, but Dalton Way gives her so much emotional weight that it genuinely works. You feel her fear, her loneliness, and that growing realization that she may be far more powerful — and far more dangerous — than anyone ever expected. Watching her slowly step into that truth was incredibly satisfying. The atmosphere in this book deserves praise, too, because it absolutely commits to being dramatic fantasy in the best way possible. Ancient kingdoms on the verge of collapse? Check. Dangerous magic? Check. Whispered prophecies and political tension simmering under every conversation? Also check. It has that sweeping cinematic fantasy energy that makes the entire story feel larger than life. The pacing also sneaks up on you. It starts with mystery and tension, then suddenly the stakes explode, and you realize you are emotionally attached to characters who are absolutely not safe. This book does not hold your hand emotionally. Once the chaos starts unfolding, it keeps escalating. And honestly, the emotional core surprised me the most. Beneath all the fantasy elements, this is really a story about identity, fear, destiny, and what happens when someone spends their entire life being told to stay small and hidden. That emotional thread keeps the story grounded even when the plot goes full magical catastrophe. If you love fantasy with hidden powers, dangerous destinies, fae-style atmosphere, emotionally tortured characters, and a heroine discovering exactly what she’s capable of, The Enchanted Wing is such a fun read. It feels like the beginning of a massive fantasy journey, and I already know this series is going to destroy people in the best possible way emotionally. The audiobook honestly made the experience even more immersive for me. The narrator captured the eerie, magical atmosphere perfectly and imbued the emotional scenes with great weight. Fantasy audiobooks can sometimes lose momentum when there’s heavy worldbuilding, but this one kept the tension alive the entire time. The quieter moments felt intimate, while the bigger reveals and action scenes carried the kind of intensity that makes you immediately need the next chapter. It felt very easy to get lost in this world while listening.
I was gifted an audiobook copy of The Enchanted Wing by Dalton Way.
This story leans into a whimsical, fairy-tale style fantasy with soft magical elements and vivid imagery. The atmosphere feels gentle and imaginative, creating a dreamy tone that will likely appeal to readers who enjoy cozy or atmospheric fantasy worlds.
The narration brings a calm delivery to the story, and the descriptive passages help paint the setting and magical elements clearly.
If you enjoy fantasy that focuses on magical imagery and a lighter, fairy-tale style storytelling approach, The Enchanted Wing may be a good addition to your reading list.
Not only do I recommend this book, I plan on reading it again.
The Enchanted Wing by Dalton Way is the first book in a four book series, and I cannot wait for book two. I quickly fell in love with the protagonist, who is equal parts loyalty and determination. With just a couple sentences, Way paints a clear picture of characters, not just their appearance, but how they move through the world. In the same way, you can feel the energy in the room whether it’s dead still or swirling with magic, and it’s easy to get lost in this book. It starts slow, but the world Way builds is worthy of the time it takes, and I found my mind going there even when I wasn’t reading. The second half of the book is at a full sprint and I could not put it down.
I received an advanced copy of The Enchanted Wing from Dalton Way in exchange for an honest review.
Stayed up till 1am to finish reading this book and I was not disappointed! I couldn’t put it down. The thought of going to sleep without knowing what happens next with Lirien hurt too much. Truly captivating, amazing writing and the DETAIL!! Dalton really knows how to set a scene and you can picture every detail, literally down to the point of a blade of grass! Highly recommend!! Can’t wait for book 2! 🤩
A spellbinding tale that will keep you seated for hours—depending on your day plans.
Dalton creates a tale that not only spins characters to life, but the world—the air, the trees, the light—becomes enveloped in the very magic his words spring in every sentence.
