Exodus failed to accomplish what this book did and I was a sobbing mess on and off to the last 15% of it.

Someone said Cecilia and dom were like a chase Atlantic song and I couldn’t agree more besides the neighborhood as i listened to them while reading but also Alexa play tv by Billie eilish and the night we met by lord Huron 😭
The Ravenhood trilogy brought us to this book—Dominic’s book. The events that took place in Flock and Exodus are told here in Doms pov. I laughed, gasped, and sobbed—there’s no in between. Utter heartbreak, profoundness, healing, beauty and brilliance is all I saw here. This undeniably gives more substance to the trilogy itself

THIS BOOK. This book that I have so many words for yet none can do it justice. I wish Kate had wrote these books as dual pov initially because reading this changed my entire perspective on Dom and this series as a whole.
Doms a man of many secrets and internalized so much of how he felt. I was amazed by the inner workings of his brain especially in how he processed everything so deeply in every way possible ❤️🩹
I honestly didn’t know how to feel about Dom at first—about any of them. In flock, he was presented as cryptic, cold, and utterly hot lol (dare I say stormy) from Cecilia’s (fmc from the books pov) and wouldn’t say I was completely obsessed with the man although I did love him. However, it was only until I read this book that I realized Dom was so much more than that. His words cut deep but there was also beauty in them. We see his heart and who he really is and I absolutely loved it 🥹
Evidently getting doms pov was everything I didn’t know I needed. it made such a HUGE difference hearing his inner monologue, his feelings and more importantly the feelings he had for Cecilia and how he loved her. I also loved the new scenes between them and I even started to open my heart to sean here and even Tyler. As for the phone call scene with dom and Sean.. that was definitely something else 🫦 iykyk

It’s actually so amusing to me because I could say the same about Tobias. It wasn’t until reading the last half of exodus and the finish line that I grew to love him more despite all that happened. This reaffirmed my belief on how each characters pov is so necessary as it truly makes all the difference in a book. I’m so thankful Kate gave this to us because now there’s closure to his story
The first 20ish % of this did bore me a little since it was mostly business talk of the club (hence my 4.5 rating but in my heart dom deserves 5 and ♾️). But thankfully Kate knew what to include and what not so this wasn’t entirely repetitive (only a few parts). Regardless, I’m aware how essential all of it was since a lot began to make sense—all the why’s and how’s from flock and half of exodus. No questions were left unanswered!
“It's time to sleep, Petit Prince."
The execution in writing this was beautifully concluded and so worth the read if you weren’t a fan of his or didn’t understand him—as here you will. I will now forever treasure this book and what it gave. The angst, suspense, spice and emotions from the last books were here as well and fully felt and it was flawlessly written. This gutted me and wrecked me all at once as if I didn’t know what happened but I guess it had the power to do so because we got how he felt during those moments and the build up leading to it. The last 10% of this was such a full circle moment, even more after the events that happened and I have no words for it—I simply loved it and the note at the end? 🥲 I can’t wait for Tyler’s book!
**As I have already read the series entirely, I would definitely recommend to those that want to read it to read this book after Exodus and stopping at page 361 and continuing the rest after the finish line (there’s 384 pages). This is not to be read first due to spoilers.**

I fell in love with Jean Dominic King in Flock and was beyond excited when it was announced that we were getting more of him and from his perspective. In Kate Stewart fashion, she had me feeling all of the emotions. I was smiling, laughing, and swooning until I wasn't the tears flowing until I was a sobbing mess. It's best to go in blind so I'm not giving you much.
“Here’s my confession . . . I know what I’m holding,” she murmurs, “I know his worth.”
I press a salty, damp kiss to her temple, my whisper for her ear, my last confession, far, far too late. “I love you too, Cecelia.”
No more rain.
If you loved The Ravenhood Trilogy like I did (it's my fav series), then you need to read this! There were some scenes that we had seen before, but there were also so many more that we hadn't seen before giving insight into the story and tying up some loose ends that still had me a bit confused. This was absolute perfection, and I loved it from beginning to end. Though I'm a Tobias girl, I still love Dom. It destroyed me in the best ways and also gave me some closure and healing. The last chapter absolutely wrecked me, and I may forever be!

I’m obsessed with Dominic King. I have been since the moment I met him in ‘Flock’. Getting a book from his perspective was something I never thought we’d have but everything I wanted. It was brilliant. Perfect. I laughed, I swooned, and I cried buckets, but I loved every moment. I’m going to make this short and sweet because no one should be spoiled by all the epic we get in this book…
If you’ve read and loved ‘The Ravenhood’ series, this is a book you need in your life. It has so much we haven’t seen before and so much more insight to the story as a whole. Kate’s writing is always superb and she knocked it out of the park with One Last Rainy Day.

I really wanted to love this book because I am such a Dom girly. Always have been since the moment I read the ravenhood series two years ago. He’s a book character that wedged himself into my heart and has managed to stay in the back of my thoughts ever since first meeting him. So with that being said, I had really high hopes for this book. I was looking forward to getting more Dom and getting to be inside his head, but….this book felt way too choppy and all over the place. There were way too many conversations from Flock and Exodus that were just eluded to instead of reliving them again in detail. It left me so confused at times and it felt like I either had to have JUST finished reading Flock before diving into this, or I needed to tandem read this with Flock in order to be able to fully understand what was happening.
It also felt like the writing in this book was rushed. Since we’re experiencing this story from Dom’s POV, I felt like I shouldn’t be so confused about what was going on throughout the inner workings of their business deals. But everything was so vague and so coded that half the time I didn’t understand what was going on, why it was happening, the relevancy of certain scenes, who he was speaking to through texts, and who some of these characters were. It seemed like so many names were being dropped without an explanation as to who they were. The timeline also would just randomly jump from scene to scene, as if the author was simply just jotting down Dom’s thoughts in any scene that he may have been in throughout Flock without any flow. There were also SO many scenes from Flock that she simply just cut out and gave a quick three sentence retelling and kept it moving. Like…I don’t know if it’s just me, but if a retelling is being written by another characters POV, I want ALL the details from their perspective.
Anyways, this book just felt rushed, disorganized, and super choppy. I think the only thing that got me through was the fact that it was a book about Dom who I absolutely love. Other than that, I would have probably DNFed it because the first half of the book was very boring. I still balled my eyes out at the end because an old wound got opened up again, but even with those emotions being brought up, it wasn’t enough to allow me to look past the writing style throughout the whole book.

I couldn't physically wait for this book. This was a gift from god, also known as Kate Stewart.
I'm floored. This was incredible, gut-wrenching, soul-crushing, heart-breaking, healing and emotional story of one amazing motherfucker. No one can tell me this series isn't life-alteringly beautiful, because it changed the core of me. And I'm so beyond words. I adored this book, it's indescribable.
You don't get many scenes retold from Flock, you get added scenes, behind the scenes, an insight into Dom's troubled mind and his heart being stolen by Cecelia. You see an unbreakable brothers' bond. I could go into so much detail about how much I became obsessed with this book, but I don't think it needs it. There is so much we didn't see in Flock, so much we missed and a quantity of things are making sense now. You even see how much Cecelia and her way of life in the future is affected by their insane summer and the love she will always carry with her. As a bonus, you get an immaculate spice, which, honestly, there was a little bit of personal want of more of Dom spice in Flock and Kate delivered here. You know what's coming, so it was hard and heavy reading this book. All the same, it gave me so much and you even sense the rightness of Tobias and Cecilia together. The tears wouldn't stop after 75%, but I still loved it.
Reading this story it in the rain with Spotify playing The Night We Met, that's a religious experience. I can't wait for the next chance I have of reading this, a masterpiece, again.
Dom made her a Queen before she ever realised. 😭

well... i’m a SOBBING MESS after finishing this.
first of all, i have to admit the first 50% wasn’t really that exciting. don’t get me wrong, i enjoyed a lot of things, but there were some repetitive stuff that didn’t hold my interest because i had already seen them in Flock. yeah, i knew this book was going to have a bunch of scenes i’ve read before – but from a different perspective – and i have no problem with that, i just feel like some scenes were necessary to be shown again and others weren’t.
but overall it was great to see Dominic’s perspective. i loved him in the Ravenhood Trilogy and having his POV made me understand and appreciate him a lot more. i also could see how much he adored Cecelia and i found all their scenes together really sweet, especially the new ones! i liked to see more of them.i’m still a Tobias girlie though and nothing can change that.
now about the last 20%... so heartbreaking. i went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading it. Kate Stewart really surprised me because i wasn’t expecting all that.
all in all, it’s a great book! i’m gonna be honest, i thought that a whole book about Dominic would be unnecessary, but i see how wrong i was. a few things make more sense now and so many questions i still had were answered. and i guess i can say it gave me the closure i didn’t know i needed.

One Last Rainy Day! Really? Even the name alone of this book makes me want to cry!
"My rainy days are yours, Dominic. If you want them."
"It rains a lot here," he says after a few long beats.
These two lines killing me every time I think about them. They had something that Tobias and Cecelia never had. I know Tobias was different when it came to his priorities about love and Cecelia, but no one can convince me of what Dom and Cecelia had was ordinary.
"It's okay, Cecelia. I'm as close to happy as a man like me deserves." - Dominic
I was happy knowing Dominic got to experience love at some point in his life, and even though the man he was and the things he did made him seem like a bad person on the outside, I truly believed that he was doing those things for the greater good.
"She is too beautiful. Too smart. But too young. This girl will be your undoing…" - Delphine
And she was… I didn't like Delphine tbh, but she was right about one thing I guess…
"Sean's still on my side for the moment, my most trusted, my brother by choice, and my best friend for the same reason. That truth resounds deep as he rattles next to me in fear." - Dominic
I feel like we didn't get to see enough of this story through Sean's perspective. He was the sunshine and most lighthearted person in this series. I liked him with everybody, especially his relationship with Dom, and whatever they had was way special than any other brotherly relationship anyone had in this story. One Last Rainy Day! Really? Even the name alone of this book makes me want to cry!

"It rains a lot here," he says after a few long beats.
These two lines killing me every time I think about them. They had something that Tobias and Cecelia never had. I know Tobias was different when it came to his priorities about love and Cecelia, but no one can convince me of what Dom and Cecelia had was ordinary.
"It's okay, Cecelia. I'm as close to happy as a man like me deserves." - Dominic
I was happy knowing Dominic got to experience love at some point in his life, and even though the man he was and the things he did made him seem like a bad person on the outside, I truly believed that he was doing those things for the greater good.
"She is too beautiful. Too smart. But too young. This girl will be your undoing…" - Delphine
And she was… I didn't like Delphine tbh, but she was right about one thing I guess…
"Sean's still on my side for the moment, my most trusted, my brother by choice, and my best friend for the same reason. That truth resounds deep as he rattles next to me in fear." - Dominic
I feel like we didn't get to see enough of this story through Sean's perspective. He was the sunshine and most lighthearted person in this series. I liked him with everybody, especially his relationship with Dom, and whatever they had was way special than any other brotherly relationship anyone had in this story. This was so heartbreaking and cathartic at the same time😭 Loved this book, it gives a whole other layer to the original trilogy. I would say you need to read all three books of the original series to get the full effect of this one but it is a perfect addition to this saga.

I’m emotionally wrecked. This hit me harder than any other book in this series, far surpassing my expectations. When Kate Stewart first announced that she was going to write Dom’s novella, I assumed it would be verbatim to the other books, only from his POV. Dom. My dark cloud. My rainy days.
⛈️ Part human, part monster, and stuck in limbo for the foreseeable future.
Dom had demons. It ate away at his psyche. Constantly battling his inner self with hatred, but wanting to do right by his brothers. The toll it took on him was his downfall.
⛈️ I’m not a praying man, but as of late, I find myself begging for that numb every fucking day.
Dom deserved so much better. Being in his head and knowing the way he loved Cecelia…heartbreakingly beautiful. He loved her so fiercely. Worshipped the ground she walked on. It was so tragic to watch unfold.
⛈️ I wanted her so goddamned much that I would have defied anything or anyone who tried to separate us.
Showing her how being with her revives me and that every day we’re together, she brings me back from the brink, collecting pieces of humanity and empathy I felt I lost.
That she alone is the pinprick of light that brings me back when I get lost in the dark.
That she’s the only being alive that has ever been able to make me feel so much at once.

Exodus was NOTHING compared to this. I shed a few tears for Dom in Exodus, but I was a Tobias girl…. AFTER THIS????? I am broken. I was completely unhinged in my breakdowns during this book. I doubt I’ve ever cried so hard over a fictional character.

Whew knowing this was going to hurt didn’t make it any less hurtful. Even though I am happy with who Cecilia ends up with, doesn’t make it any less hurtful. There was real love and pain from every angle.
What I loved:
Understanding the bond Dominic and Tobias shared and how similar they actually are was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Also understanding Dominic and his internal struggles was something I needed to understand his behaviour towards Cecilia. This book definitely made me love him more. Which made the ending only harder. But at the same time it didn’t hit as Exodus??
The way Dom spoke about Cecilia had me swooninggg
What I didn’t like 😵💫:
There was so much business talk (which is necessary I know) but it made a lil boring sometimes, especially when you already have read three books before explaining the whole business. So I found myself skimming a little🫣
Also this book has put me in a reading slump so idk?? I would have LOVED it, if Dom’s pov was already included in the other books so everything would have went more seamlessly. Now it felt a lil choppy and hello, I really needed the float scene in details from his pov🫣
Also I really did not need the other bird’s their pov.
I’m torn I think in the end, I didn’t need this book. Yes it did add depth at Dom’s character and made me love him even more. But the love I had in the other books was enough I think??? I might change my mind on this haha

Honestly so disappointed in this. Was expecting so much more and not a retelling from his POV of the books. Would’ve been 10x better if she wrote a novella of dom and Cecelia having a rainy day. Everyone is saying the whole book made them cry… how?! We all know what happens to him and this book just wasn’t sad. Disappointed and probably won’t read anymore in the legacy series when they come out.

can you die from fictional heartbreaks? because i think i just cried all the H2O out of my body…and still am. i knew what i was in for. i knew what was coming AND YETTT I somehow managed to get my heart ripped out of my chest again. I’m still being blinded by tears as we speak. kate stewart doesn’t just write romance, she writes emotional warfare and we all are just left ruined, crying in the fetal position.

I wanted to love this book so badly. Beyond excited when I heard about it and read it in a day while traveling. It was an awkward read for me, almost felt like I needed to be reading flock simultaneously, the story felt choppy, I wanted to get Dom’s perspective on some of my favorite scenes but the parts we already know from flock were glossed over. Tons of additional information on Raven background stuff and what happened to the guys but wasn’t what I wanted from this story

let me start by saying Jean Dominic King means everything to me i love him so much and my heart physically hurt by the end of this book. since the beginning of flock i knew without a shadow of a doubt that i was wholly and completely a dom girly and this book further proved why🥹
after reading exodus i was COMPLETELY TERRIFIED to read this book because the tears i shed that day…
although most of this book was scenes we read in flock and exodus seeing them in doms pov was everything i needed. even though i knew how his story concluded i was still delusional enough to think maybe he’d get a happy ending😭 (like i said absolutely delusional)
i laughed, i swooned, and cried hysterically and it was worth it. to see dominic fall in love and finally seeing those cute moment between him and cece from his perspective was everything 🥹. while the first 50% was i little slow due to the fact that i knew what happened that last 50% immediately made this a five star for me. the last chapter was my fucking undoing and i will NEVER NOT EVER get over that heartbreak😫
reading about doms funeral physically broke me, seeing the guys povs from the events that happened after dom died answered a lot of my unanswered questions and gave me the closure i needed while breaking my heart all over again. when tobias carried doms body down the steps chipped at my heart. tyler adopting zach put me back together a little bit🥹.
did this book obliterate my heart…yes. would i do it all over again… yes. these characters will stick with me forever like no others have and i’ll never get over these books

I didn't want to read this story because I knew already how my beloved Dom's journey ends via book 2 Exodus, in the Ravenhood series. It seemed a pointless endeavor to court such heartache all over again, just to see events I was already aware of, play out again, but just through a different lense. But I was wrong about that. This story solidified things that I already knew. Made them glowingly obvious. Facts not to be denied.
But the journey here with Dom was still worth it.🖤
And though the explanation given here towards the end, that it was all part of a master plan in the end, that Dom was aware of and made plans for its execution when the time came, only to be carried out via Tobias and Cecelia; I'm still not and will NEVER buy what you're trying to sell here Ms. Stewart..
🧐 YOU know that Dom should not have died. That he should have been allowed to live and bask in the blessings that he had been denied for the whole of his life. No one was more deserving of love than Dom.. NO ONE.
A fact so glaringly obvious by the continued shadow of Dom's presence, that Ms. Stewart places in the second half of book two, Exodus, and sprinkled throughout the entire book of The Finish Line and now here, in Dom's own view of his journey.
And though many things played out for the good here, after he was taken from us, it still doesn't change the fact that these things could and would have played out even better and sooner had he still been there to witness it..
But nonetheless, this was an epic tale simply because it was in Dominic's voice. In all of his raw and unfiltered glory. And also the love that was reserved for only him, being expressed in the openly exquisite & painful beauty by those who love him..
As much as I love this book. And as much as I love book 1 Flock, I can't say if I will continue on with this legacy series spin off, in order. The only one I want to read is Sean's story. So he better get one🤨

I wanted to give this 3 stars, thought about it, then changed it to 2. This book was so unnecessary and it provided nothing new to the story.
It could have been a 130 page novella about what Dom was working on behind the scenes. I enjoyed about 20% of the book and it was mostly the ending. The added POVs were a nice touch and I hope the future novels in the spin-off series build off of those.
Kate’s writing tends to make me very emotional and this fell short. Dom’s mind felt like a lake compared to Cecilia’s ocean. He didn’t make me feel anything other than contempt.

I am violently sobbing. I woke up this morning to this baby in my kindle and I immediately cancelled all plans to read it.
I knew Dom’s POV would be emotional, but I don’t think I knew I could fall for Dom even more than I did. Getting his thoughts through this book really changed my overall mindset for what happens to him in Exodus. Getting to know his final thoughts and the events that occur after.
I don’t think I’ll be okay ever again.
I don’t want to reveal too much in this review because it’s not worth even the tiniest spoiler.
When you read the last chapter… wow.
Thank you, Kate, for another trip into this world. It’s truly amazing.
