The time traveling issues, erasing of events, and conflict of Akira's perceived weakness in the physical world despite being able to poses physical beings was really frustrating. But it's still half decent.

Rating Update 3/31/2019 - 3 to 4 stars. The whole theme of Akira being unable to save the women in his life is the central theme of this volume. It's so resounding that it does not deserve anything lower than 4 stars. I feel like it could reach 5 stars though....

Update 19 May 2019
I find that certain sections of this volume, dealing with the Akira and Jun's slow escape from Hell, as well as Akira's investigation, could ultimately lower the cumulative rating of the volume to three stars. Even the individual ratings for certain sections support this:

Pages 0-116 Four stars
Pages 117-188 Two stars
Pages 189-214 Four stars
Pages 214-222 Five stars

Following the cumulative rating of 3.36 would be a dishonor for the eight pages of five star content. I cannot bear to have the rating at four stars and in my heart I feel that the cumulative rating is closer to four stars by far than a three star rating. I did enjoy reading this volume, despite pages 117 through 188 that dealt with Akira's investigations into Asuka.

Rating Update 28 May 2019
Four stars to three stars.
I am following my cumulative rating which lowers the overall rating of the volume from four stars to three stars.

Update
With the adoption of my new rating system, a three star rating is befitting. The original review and rating updates conform to the new rating system. I have looked through my "Devilman Lady Abridged" folder to remind myself of this volume's content. The individual page ratings in the update form May 19, 2019, is broad and not accurate. The rating remains at three stars because the slow investigation into Asuka lends nothing groundbreaking. The scenes with Jun escaping hell and Akira unable to save Jun at the end of the volume, four and five star-rated sections respectively, cannot raise the volume's rating. This volume could have been five star-rated if it's focus on Akira being unable to save women was the buildup, and all other slow parts were removed. Instead, there's the long scenes of Akira and Jun walking out of Hell, and Akira's long investigation.

I am bothered by the three star rating. I find this volume to be 3.5 stars, since I cannot decide between a three or a four star-rating. For now, I round down to three stars. In my "Goodreads Books" excel worksheet, I had written to change the rating back to a four star-rating.

Update
I would like to add that I am sure that the five star-ending went great with the rest of the volume's focus on Ryo since his investigation culminates with his despair. I did not enjoy the investigation but the ending is consummate with it. This is to push for the idea that the five star-rated ending does not stand on its own as a small scene but a decent cumulative work.

Update
To remind myself why the four or five star-rated (I cannot decide at the moment) ending carries the volume to a three star-rating, despite being only a few pages of the volume, there is necessary buildup, such as part of Akira's investigations and Jun's capture. The ending cannot be viewed with such emotions in a vacuum.

Update
Accurately explaining the progression of this volume and compressing it in a rating type is a little challenging. From what has previously been stated, this book starts out with a four star-rated beginning before slipping into a tedious two-thirds portion rated at two stars, before concluding in an escalating four and final five star-rated ending. The middle two star-rated portion feels slightly unnecessary for the beginning and concluding part. The beginning and concluding part feel necessary for each other and are pleasing, which would have given the book a five star-rating, but unfortunately the middle two star-rated section lowers the rating.

I have left the color of the rating as yellow with a grey outline because, though I lean towards the three star-rating, I am still slightly hesitant and view it as more as an educated assessment.

The only way I could see this book reaching a four star-rating is if half of the book corresponded to the five star-rated ending and the other half corresponded to the two star-rated content. The average between the two halves would be 3.5 stars, which would allow for a four star-rating. I do not see this as possible since the two star-rated content probably took up at least two-thirds of the volume.
