“Stone-cold hottie meets disaster human: a mythological romance I didn’t know I needed!”
Alright, let’s get one thing straight: if you told me I’d be thirsting over Medusa—yes, that snake-haired, stone-turning icon—I would’ve politely asked you to step away from the Ambrosia wine. But here we are. I’m in love with a mythological monster, and I’m not even mad about it.
In Ensnared by Medusa, Alicia Montgomery and Adilyn Andrews take the ancient myth, throw it into a blender with modern sass, spice, and supernatural drama, and serve up a romance that’s equal parts ridiculous, steamy, and totally addictive. This isn’t your grandma’s Greek tragedy—it’s a monster romance, and it’s here to slither into your heart.
Our leading lady? She’s Medusa, reimagined as a sexy, sarcastic, very done-with-everyone’s-nonsense type of heroine who is tired of being the villain in someone else’s story. Honestly? Mood.
Enter our brave, occasionally clueless, and very charming hero who manages to not get turned to stone (which is already a win), but also somehow gets tangled up in a plot involving secret societies, magical guardians, and a whole lot of sexual tension. We’re talking “should we be doing this while possibly being cursed” levels of hot.

Ensnared by Medusa is a wildly fun, steamy, and surprisingly heartfelt read. A whole new take on Greek mythology, and I’m here for it. Perseus and Medusa aren’t what you’re expecting, and I absolutely devoured this in less than 24 hours.
That said, I did feel a little like I was missing something at times — perhaps this ties into another series? I got the sense I should already be familiar with Eros and Psyche’s story going in. That’s probably on me for not checking first, though it didn’t impact my enjoyment enough to knock any stars off.
It wasn’t until I started reading that I realised I’ve already devoured most of Alicia’s other works (Blackstone Mountains, Blackstone Rangers, True Mates, and True Mates Generations), so I had high expectations — and they absolutely delivered.
I loved the enemies-to-lovers dynamic, the captivating banter and the way Medusa’s character is both strong and relatable. The world and urban fantasy/PNR themes in this book are so interesting, the spice absolutely spices, and the emotions hit perfectly. 👨🍳 💋
This book combines some of my favorite tropes. At first glance, shifters, gorgons and mythology shouldn’t mesh but this author makes it happen.
Ms. Montgomery is a master of shifter romances in her earlier works. Her collaboration with Ms. Andrews integrates shifters and Greek mythology by making Perseus a wolf shifter who was adopted by a pack after his mother died.
He is assigned to work with Medusa (a namesake, not the original) but she her gaze can turn one to stone and her hair is snakelets. Additionally, she has the power to identify and rank levels of magic.
The banter between them is captivating as they fight their attraction. There is also suspense and subterfuge as she is being blackmailed to save others from her extended family. The characters are easy to visualize and relate to. The world building is intricate and detailed.
I enjoyed this book immensely and look forward to continuing this series.
Love these Greek mythology romance twists. Medusa, she was named after the original one, is helping to find a certain type of person. Ones who aren’t exactly human. She and Perseus are teamed together. And that starts the enemies to lovers part of the story. Between the danger and tension these two have no way of stopping what fate has in store for them. Action and adventure with some danger thrown in make this a great story. I love the characters and all the problems they find themselves facing.
If this book was a movie, you would be on the edge of your seat, holding your breath waiting for what was going to happen next. You would find yourself yelling at the characters a lot. I really loved this book. It flowed well from beginning to end. I want to be Medusa when I grow up. She is strong, sure of herself, and well put together. Perseus, honestly I really liked him. I can’t narrow down just a few. Together they just work, both as a couple and partners. The book was fun exciting and entertaining. I recommend it whole heartedly.
Medusa and Perseus have an eventful first meeting but that is only the beginning. Medusa is out to save her "sisters" but along the way she looses her heart. Perseus has to face who he is and what he is willing to give up to keep his secret. This story is full of mythical creatures and spins an enthralling story where gods and demigods, shifters, gorgons and more mix in a steamy, fast-paced romance that weaves passion, betrayal, and redemption into a story that will leave you craving more.
This was a strong start to the Guardians of Vale Crossing series, it had that element that I was looking for and thought worked as a fantasy romance novel. Everything was what I was hoping for from a mythology fantasy going on. that I was looking for. The characters were wonderfully done and worked in this universe. Adilyn Andrews has a strong writing style and am excited for more.

I’m always looking for a food Mythology retelling and this one took the cake. Medusa is probably my favorite because of her back story and this book did her well. I love how it made her seem like an actual person. I love her relationships and the way she grew as the story went on. Definitely a must read.

I enjoy a good mythic/monster romance and this one from AM/AA did not disappoint. Full of action and romance, betrayal and heartbreak, hope and redemption, Perseus and Medusa have to break down their walls before they can face each other's truths.
Well this is not a typical retelling of anything Medusa realted which was great because this is a fresh take and that means that it is not over done. So good.

I loved this so much!!! This is the second book I’ve read that has a “god and goddess in a modern world” feel and I love the concept! I enjoyed the characters and their journeys. I also am a sucker for a standalone! Loved it!!!!
