She has been a keen writer for most of her life, focusing her attention on poetry, song-writing and essays in her younger years before finally venturing into authoring novels in her mid-forties so is now making up for lost time! She loves penning second-chance romances with a happy ending and finds her inspiration in rural landscapes, real-life people and real struggles.

When she is not putting her organisational superpower to use in her day job or hanging out with her characters, Elizabeth May Ellis loves long walks with her dog and spending time in her garden. She is obsessed with sweet peas, salvias and fairy lights, drinks too many lattes and eats far too much cake!

The Other Side is one of those romances that quietly sneaks up on your emotions. Elizabeth May Ellis writes with a gentle honesty about heartbreak, timing, and the kind of love that never really lets go.
I really enjoyed how this book explored what ifs — what if we'd stayed, what if we'd said yes, what if we'd been brave enough the first time? Holly's journey felt raw and relatable.
She isn't a perfect heroine, but that's what makes her so easy to connect with. The writing captures that bittersweet feeling of returning home and realizing that memories still have a heartbeat.
What stood out most to me was the emotional warmth — it's not over-the-top dramatic, but quietly powerful. The chemistry between Holly and Adam feels real, grounded in history rather than lust.
And the setting of Wicken Vale adds that cozy, small-town comfort that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and stay awhile.
My only small gripe is that a few moments felt predictable - some tropes you can see coming from a mile away. But honestly, that didn't ruin the experience; it made it feel like a safe, familiar hug of a story.
Overall, The Other Side is a heartfelt, beautifully written second-chance romance that reminds you how love can change - and sometimes come full circle. Perfect for readers who enjoy tender, reflective stories with a cozy English charm.

Captivated from the first page, I read this book in two days. The writing was beautiful, the characters realistic, and the plot intriguing. I enjoyed the dual timeline and the well-written love triangle, which kept me guessing until right near the end. If you love a closed-door, kisses-only romance with swoony quotes, angst, and a beautiful love story, you'll love The Other Side.

I look forward to reading more by this author.

Cute, witty, and just the right amount of emotional — The Other Side hooked me from the first chapter! The “Then/Now” chapters are written so well, and I loved how the pieces clicked together as the story went on.

Holly is hilarious and relatable (seriously, I want to be friends with her), and there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud. If you love second-chance romance with a side of “who will she choose?” suspense, you’ll fly through this one.
