If I hadn't received an ARC for review, I would have DNF'd this one. Not because it isn't thoroughly researched or thoughtfully written (which it is!), but because it's the dry sort of academic book, not the fascinating kind.
It's an important topic, and Hertzke handles it with care, though he's not immune from hyperbolic, emotional language when faced with a perspective he finds threatening. It's a book that those studying, or simply looking for a perspective on the subject of religious freedom would likely benefit from reading.
