IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE NIGHT. FATE HAD OTHER PLANS...
Anna’s not looking for love. Fresh from a divorce, she needs an escape. One reckless night of fun—and the gorgeous Irishman who buys her a drink at the bar promises exactly that. No last names, no strings, just fireworks.
Liam’s used to hiding behind his game face. But after a brutal betrayal and an even messier brawl, he’s lost his soccer career, his team, and his reputation. A one-night stand with a stranger? Just the distraction he needs. He never expected to see Anna again…Until she turns out to be his son’s new teacher.
Anna knows she shouldn’t get involved with a student’s father, especially not him. But Liam’s not the man the tabloids say he is. He’s everything she thought she wasn’t ready for. Which makes him so much worse.
The Player’s Promise by Tierney Page London Hearts series #3. Contemporary romance, erotic romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Anna needs a restart after getting her divorce papers. Liam is celebrating his new job and teammates. Their one night is unforgettable. Finding out she’s his son’s new teacher is a shock to them both. But not unwelcome.
Loved the instant chemistry, the emotional backstory of both Anna and Liam, Finn of course, plus the unquestionable support of her two friends and her brother. Plus the humor of the two friends was so salacious it made me laugh. I do wish she’d said “no” or reported the other teacher for his unwanted advances. She was clearly uncomfortable. Great resolutions.
Sensuous, heart-clenching, humorous, and enticing. 4.5 I received a copy of this from NetGalley.
You nailed it, Tierney! The Best book from the serie (my humble opinion😁). Funny, heart-breaking but still heart-warming...this story is a 5+ stars for me!
Tierney Page really said “let me give you filthy banter, emotional depth, a sexy Irish football player and found family” and somehow made it all work perfectly 😭
This book had me feeling EVERYTHING. It was funny, emotional, spicy, heartfelt and honestly one of those romances that just feels so real underneath it all.
Liam… yeah I get it now 🫠 The dirty talk on this man??? Absolutely elite. But what really got me was how soft he actually was underneath all of that. He’s this huge Irish football player who could easily come across as intimidating, but at his core he’s just someone who loves deeply and wants to do right by the people he cares about. The way he loves his son, the way he cares for Anna, the way he genuinely tries to be better and work through his own issues?? That was the standout for me.
And Anna 😭 My heart genuinely hurt for her at times. She’s trying to rebuild her life after everything she’s been through while also holding onto this dream of becoming a mother. Watching her slowly open herself back up to love, happiness and the possibility of something more with Liam was so beautifully done.
But can we PLEASE talk about Finn because I was absolutely obsessed with that little boy 🥺 His relationship with Anna genuinely made me emotional so many times. The bond between them felt so natural and full of love that it honestly added an entirely different layer to the story for me.
I also loved the friendship dynamics in this book so much. Anna, Gemma and April genuinely felt like real best friends and those moments brought so much warmth and humour to the story.
What really surprised me though was how much depth this book had underneath all the romance and spice. The conversations around men’s mental health, violence in sport, trauma and accountability were handled so thoughtfully. It never felt preachy, it just felt honest. Seeing male characters actually reflect on their behaviour, seek help and try to grow was something I genuinely appreciated.
So yeah… this book basically had everything for me: ✨ sexy Irish man ✨ filthy banter ✨ emotional healing ✨ found family ✨ amazing friendships ✨ a precious little boy I would protect with my life
This is the first book to make me cry this year! An absolutely stunning conclusion to the London Hearts series, but it's bittersweet to say goodbye. Tierney's writing has gotten stronger with every book she's released and she should be so proud of this one!
The story follows recently divorced school teacher Anna, who has a one night stand to shake out the cobwebs (if ya know what I'm saying). He's hot, he's Irish, and she'll never see him again. Right? WRONG BITCHHHH. Because Liam is the father of Anna's newest student - one she's grown a soft spot for. He's also a pro footballer, SINGLE, and harboring secrets of his own.
The chemistry between Anna and Liam was electric from the very first page. Their story packs plenty of heat - that's for sure. But underneath all of that scorching spice is a soft, tender heart. Tierney will make you laugh one moment, really getting you comfortable before ripping your heart out the next. The discussions surrounding mental health and childhood trauma were beautifully written, and my heart ached for these characters.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the female friendship group in this book. The friendship between Anna, April and Gemma is so special and one of my favourite parts of the whole series. They are the epitome of girlhood, and Gemma - you will always be famous. Tierney crafts such layered and likable characters that feel like coming home.
The Player's Promise delivers HEAT, heart, vulnerability, and of course, a lot of laughs. As Tierney would say herself - BANGER.
Quick Summary: A one night and onto a forever with you/forever family romance
My Review: The Player's Promise by Tierney Page is book #3 in the London Hearts series. It is categorized as "General Fiction (Adult) | Romance." It was released on 5/26/26.
About the Book: "...a spicy, forbidden romance about second chances, secrets and lies...
One reckless night of fun...
No last names, no strings, just fireworks.
A one-night stand with a stranger?
It was supposed to be one night. But fate had other plans..."
In My Own Words: Guilty until proven innocent while heartbroken (+1) meets blindsided and starting over while heartbroken. Who knew one night would turn into forever?
What I Liked/Loved:
- I liked the unique POVs and experiences of the leads.
- I liked that the characters did not have it all together and that they were doing all they could to survive the hand they had been dealt.
- I liked being able to see the challenges and hardships that the adults and the child had to navigate through.
- I loved seeing the healthy support network, from Liam's son's sweet classmate to the MH rep.
- I loved that the adults had to adult themselves through the hard parts. (If you know, you know.)
My Final Say: This novel gets the slow clap, tearful cry. It was gut-wrenchingly good and gave my heart a workout.
There was a lot to unpack in the story, from an emotional perspective. (And that is my love language.) Everything that happened was so believable. It dealt with a lot of raw emotion, with all the feelings mixed in.
This story is definitely a keeper and a read-on-repeat gem.
I need the audiobook on this one. To hear this story brought to life, I can easily predict the ugly cry, along with a smile, a head shake, and a celebratory cheer.
Other: Readers who enjoy sports-themed romances, second chance post heartbreak scenarios, single dad +1 stories, found family dramas, and ONS to forever with you novels will like this one.
Appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Forever (Grand Central Publishing) | Forever), and to NetGalley. Thank you so very much for granting access to a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest critique. It was a pleasure to review. I am very much looking forward to reading this entire series.
Am I the only one completely heartbroken that this series is over? I honestly need 100 more books immediately. I loved how Anna and Liam connected through their shared pain. Both were navigating the aftermath of long term relationships and all the complicated emotions that came with them. Liam was such a devoted father to Finn, who was absolutely adorable and added so much heart to the story. The pacing of Anna and Liam’s relationship felt so natural and believable. Nothing was rushed, and you could genuinely see them slowly falling in love with each other. I also really appreciated how Tierney explored childhood trauma, the lasting impact it can have into adulthood, and the importance of therapy and healing. The mental health representation throughout the book was handled beautifully. And, of course, Tierney absolutely delivered on the spicy scenes! They were incredible and somehow exceeded all my expectations.
I’m so sad this series is over!! I was so excited for Anna’s story and it did not disappoint! Reeling from her divorce, Anna is simply going through the motions and trying to heal. Liam is a single dad and an athlete with a messy past. I loved the way they healed each other and their connection. Liam’s son Finn was also so sweet and I loved seeing the bond between him and Anna. The found family throughout this series is top tier and I loved seeing all of Anna’s friends and their partners in this one. It was hilarious, spicy and a great conclusion to this series! Thank you NetGalley, Tierney Page and the publisher for an eARC.
As soon I read the prologue, I knew The Player's Promise was going to be brilliant. That first bit was brutal, so painful to read, frustrating, and incredibly raw. It made me ache, but it also made me so excited for the rest of the book. I loved how genuine Liam and Anna's romance was. At its core, theirs is a story about two people falling in love and doing their best in the worst of circumstances.
I loved how they connected through their pain—both coming off of long-term relationships and dealing with heartbreaking circumstances. Liam was such a dedicated father, and his son, Finn, was just the sweetest. My heart broke for what happened to them, and I really loved how Tierney Page navigated childhood trauma, therapy, and healing. Anna, coming off of a fresh divorce, was also sensitive, unsure, and coming to terms with her life looking very different than what she had expected and hoped. And it is in this mutual vulnerability where they meet and where they come to care for each other so, so much.
Seeing them open up to each other, seeing Anna and Finn together, seeing them slowly allow each other into the tender, wounded part of their lives was just beautiful. The pacing of their relationship felt perfect—so many lovely scenes where they flirt and fall deeper in love, so many small conversations and little gestures that show rather then tell the attachment and draw that they're both feeling towards each other. Tierney built their romance moment by moment, and the promise of where everything was going had me completely giddy.
That's not to say there wasn't drama and angst and so much pain either. All of the messy drama, all of the heightened moments, all of the risky situations they found themselves in that had me pulling out my hair were crazy and (mostly) out of their control, and I enjoyed seeing how they weathered it all together. What I thoroughly appreciated was that none of these things happened because of misunderstandings—Liam and Anna were champions of communicating. And it made them feel believable; they always treated each other with respect, and they always talked things through even if it was the hard thing to do. Because that's the way you act when you love someone.
Mental health, abuse, and trauma are big themes in this story, for Liam and Anna—and Finn. I thought these topics were handled with care and portrayed in a layered and realistic way. It was so refreshing to read these discussions happening between characters and also the revelations they have in their POVs. Seeing Liam work on himself for the sake of his son and for Anna, whom he would so clearly do anything for, was just another reason for me to love him, and them.
I cannot give The Player's Promise anything less than five stars for how glued to its pages I was. There was tension and angst, but there was also sympathy and warmth. I adored reading about all the ways Liam and Anna took care of each other—and themselves. This one is an absolute recommendation for anyone who loves emotional, heart-wrenching, but sweet and hopeful romances. If you love seeing him taking care of her; if you love seeing her be a safe place for him to break down—this is a must read.
Edit: An addendum to my review because it periodically flickers into my mind, and that's likely worth mentioning here, especially now that the book is out. And please heed the trigger warnings and disclaimer at the beginning of the book! There's a pretty late reveal of a sexual assault towards the end. And considering the amazing mental health rep and discussions all the characters had over trauma, grief, and healing, I would have just liked a conversation or something more to address it fully. It doesn't really change my overall enjoyment and rating of the book. But I think it is the one thing that it misses when discussing these characters' growth and fully wrapping everything up.
﹙ five stars ﹚
— thank you forever for the gifted finished copy and the e-arc via netgalley to review!
I raced through the Players Promise over the last two days because I literally could not put it down!
I feel like I have loved each of Tierney’s books more and more and this one might just be my favourite of all!
By now we know that Tierney can write a perfect smutty read. One that you’ll want to devour and that’ll get you all hot and bothered. But what makes this read even more incredible is the emotional undertones across the whole story. I mean I literally cried at the last couple of chapters.
Through Anna and Liam, you explore having to start from square one after what you thought was your happily ever after ends. We also explore how our childhood trauma has shaped you as an adult. I love how much of a positive light is shed on the benefits of therapy, whether that’s for children or adults and the mental health rep was incredible in this book.
Tierney’s reads are just so easy to read and that’s exactly what I want. They’re fun, exciting, sexy, absolutely hilarious, and will have you kicking your feet swooning over how romantic they can be.
Why you should read it: 💚 forbidden romance 💚 single parent 💚 the smuttiest of smut 💚 top tier banter 💚 Found Family 💚 emotional healing
The Player’s Promise comes out May 26th so only a couple more days before you can grab your own copy!
Please also take note of all content warnings which are listed at the beginning of the book.
Y’all, I was in Tierney’s DMs shamelessly begging for this ARC, and I am happily shocked she put up with me. Worth it though, because The Player’s Promise absolutely knocked my socks off. This is the perfect finale to the London Hearts series, and I am unwell with how good Tierney is at mixing plot, feelings, and filth.
Anna is 35, newly divorced, and spiraling in the most relatable way. Liam is 32, a hot footballer single dad with a messy ex and the emotional range of a man written by a woman. Their chemistry is instant, and the emotional growth goes even harder.
Tierney’s sprinkled in jokes had me cackling and the spice was exactly the level of 🔥 I wanted. April and Gemma brought the best “truth hurts” friend energy that forced Anna to stop self sabotaging. Then the ending hit with the reminder that your timeline is your own, and suddenly you are (I am) crying on your (my) couch with all the feels.
A five star, laugh cry swoon finale. Thank you to Tierney and Forever for the ARC. I am devastated to say goodbye to this series, but this was the perfect sendoff.
The Player’s Promise is book 3 in the London Hearts series by Tierney Page and I’m so sad to see this series come to an end!
Anna is recently divorced, trying to put the pieces of her life back together and is definitely not looking for love. But on a fun night out with the girls, she has a no strings attached, one night stand with a hot Irishman that she will never see again. Until she finds out that he is the father of the new student in her class.
Read this one if you love: 💚sports romance 💚one night stand 💚single dad 💚forbidden romance 💚found family 💚lots of chemistry 💚witty banter 💚spicy🌶️🌶️
This emotional, heartfelt romance was the perfect ending to this series! The heavy topics were handled with care and were balanced out with humor, the female friendships in the story were perfection and Liam’s son Finn stole the show! I’ve had so much fun reading this entire series! I can’t wait to see what Tierney does next!
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read an eARC of The Player’s Promise. All opinions in this review are my own.
Irish Single Dad with a dirty mouth need i say more?! This book had me hooked. It was way more emotional than the previous two. I was laughing and sobbing my heart out.
Both of them were blindsided by the life they thought they were going to have only to be left wondering how to pick up the pieces and start over.
They had such great chemistry and as always the spice was spicing but I didn't feel like it took away from the plot at all. I enjoyed all the characters and feel like this one was my favourite out of the whole series!
💚Single Dad 💚She's his sons Teacher 💚Forbidden 💚Footballer MMC 💚Found Family
4.5⭐️4🌶
Bonus points go to the girls friendships, their banter and unwavering support for each other was so much fun to read!
Thankyou to Tierney, Netgalley and Hachette for the opportunity to read this one early 🫶🏻
Loved this series book two and three were my favourite. And I’m so sad the series has come to an end but so excited to see what Tierney has up her sleeve next.
Anna finally getting her HEA was the best way for this series to end and Liam was perfection. Loved them. A book with a great storyline and a whole lot of spice 🌶️.
This book is a perfect writing mesh of Ana Huang and Sara Cate. Equal parts addictive chemistry and emotionally developed storytelling. Easily the spiciest installment in the series, but also the strongest in terms of character depth and plot. I couldn’t get enough of either one!
I absolutely cannot wait to see what Tierney has up her sleeve next.
Tierney does it again. Amazing amazing book. Deserves more than 5 ⭐️ This book had me laughing so hard. But also had my crushing on the Irish footballer. Such a well written story. So glad Anna got what she wanted in the end. A family. Anna and Liam were just perfect 🩷
this was book 3 in the London hearts series! Probably my favourite in the series as it’s a sports romance and I’m a sports romance girlie. I literally couldn’t put this one down! The others took me a bit longer to enjoy but I devoured this one! Liam is a single dad football star and Anna is his son’s teacher. After a one night stand they both can’t forget each other until they run into each other again. Liam is dirtyyyy talking Irish man and it’s hotttt 🥵 This book completes the series and was such a fun and quick read! The found family and friendships throughout this book are so wholesome and sweet! And boy was it spicyyyyy 🥵🙊
Thankyou NetGalley and tierney for the early arc 🫶🏻
I absolutely love Tierneys writing. April, Gemma and Anna have a special place in my heart. The banter between the friends paired with the golden retriever MMC made this book perfection.
Tierney said ‘let’s go out with a bang’ and a bang she did (metaphorically of course, plenty of it in this one so don’t panic ✋🏼)
The third and final book of the London Hearts series is finally here and I’m genuinely so sad to see this series come to an end!
The Player’s Promise follows Anna and Liam, both emotionally exhausted humans trying to get by after both their lives took a turn they didn’t see coming. Both Anna and Liam are dealing with more than meets the eye, and as much as Tierney is known for her signature banter, she handled their stories with the grace they deserved.
Anna is really going through it. Fresh out of a divorce, trying to keep her dream of becoming a mother alive, whilst also aggressively protecting her heart from the walking wall of a footballer who has no business occupying her thoughts but refuses to leave her alone.
Liam however, looks intimidating given his profession and his size, but is really just someone who loves hard and tries to get it right, for his son, for Anna and for himself. I truly appreciated how willing he was to confront his own issues and grow. We love a man with emotional intelligence and self awareness (a genuinely rare species honestly)
This was by far Tierney’s spiciest book yet. I managed to remain composed… outwardly. Internally however, the spice level had me doing laps I was absolutely not fit to run. Liam sir, I was unfamiliar with your game 👀🫦🔥
As always, the highlight of the entire series for me has been the friendship between our core three ladies. Their conversations are unhinged, and the level of chaos they operate at should honestly be studied, but above all else they are fiercely loyal and endlessly supportive of each other.
If you haven’t read the London Hearts series yet and you love your romance full of heart, banter and spice, I cannot recommend this series enough!! 🥹
Thank you to The Bookish Type and Hachette for the ARC!!
The Players’ Promise by Tierney Page is an emotionally messy, chemistry-filled sports romance that perfectly balances heartbreak, healing, and self-destruction. Built around second chances, complicated family dynamics, and forbidden attraction, the novel delivers an addictive reading experience filled with emotional vulnerability, explosive tension, and characters who feel painfully human in all the best ways.
At the centre of the story is the connection between Anna and Liam; two people carrying the weight of betrayal, disappointment, and emotional exhaustion in completely different ways. Anna is fresh out of a divorce and desperately searching for freedom, while Liam is attempting to rebuild his life after losing almost everything that once defined him. Their relationship begins as reckless escapism, but the moment their worlds collide again, the emotional stakes skyrocket. The chemistry between them feels immediate and undeniable, balancing emotional intimacy with intense physical attraction in a way that keeps the tension simmering throughout the entire novel.
Liam, in particular, was such a compelling character to follow. Beneath the reputation, anger, and emotional walls is a man struggling with guilt, fatherhood, public scrutiny, and the consequences of his own mistakes. His relationship with his son added an extra emotional layer to the story that made many of the heavier moments hit even harder. While he absolutely has flaws, Tierney Page writes him with enough depth and vulnerability that it becomes impossible not to become invested in his journey.
What stood out most to me was Tierney’s writing style itself. The emotional delivery throughout the novel feels natural and immersive, making it incredibly easy to become attached to both the characters and their struggles. The balance between emotional tension, romance, and heavier subject matter was handled in a way that kept the story engaging without losing the emotional weight behind it. There were multiple moments throughout the book where the emotional intensity genuinely caught me off guard in the best possible way.
The pacing made this such an easy book to binge. Every chapter seemed to introduce another layer of conflict, emotion, or tension that kept pulling me further into the story. Between the complicated romance, Liam’s personal struggles, and the constant pressure surrounding their situation, there was always something emotionally compelling happening. The forbidden element of the teacher/parent dynamic only heightened the tension further and made their relationship feel even more chaotic and addictive.
Despite the romance-heavy focus, the novel also explores several darker and emotionally confronting themes throughout the story. Readers should absolutely pay attention to the trigger warnings going into this one, as the book does not shy away from trauma, abuse, manipulation, and emotionally charged situations. Some scenes are genuinely difficult to read, but they also add to the rawness and emotional realism of the story.
I would highly recommend The Players’ Promise to readers who enjoy emotional sports romances, forbidden relationships, damaged but layered characters, messy healing journeys, and high-tension chemistry. Fans of emotionally intense contemporary romance with flawed characters and complicated emotional dynamics will likely become deeply invested in Anna and Liam’s story.
Overall, The Players’ Promise is an emotional, addictive, and deeply engaging sports romance filled with heartbreak, vulnerability, healing, and chaos. Tierney Page delivers a story that feels both emotionally messy and incredibly consuming, and after following her journey online for quite some time, it honestly feels surreal to now be part of her NetGalley ARC team for the third instalment of the London Hearts series.
* This review contains minor spoilers* I presume you have not found yourself here by chance, you have probably (just like me) enjoyed the first two books in the series and look forward to reading Anna's story and rooting for her to finally get her long deserved HEA. And, in true Tierney style, you'll get all the wonderful, well fleshed out characters, a swoony romance, a golden retriever Irish footballer who falls first and falls HARD, friends who feel like family, wit and banter and, of course, spice that's sizzling! The same easy, seamless, fun writing that we've encountered before, is here and you are guaranteed to be kicking your feet and reading half of this book (at least!) with the biggest smile on your face. Tierney gave me all I was hoping for and actually even more because Liam is 100% flawed perfection and I will not hear otherwise.
So yes, the romance is brilliantly delivered, and even though it stars off as a one night stand, the chemistry is undeniable and when Liam and Anna meet again, their relationship felt very organic and natural and I was fully on board with them declaring their love after just a few short months because it made sense. Liam and Anna both come to this with emotional baggage and a fair amount to unpack, we see some bad decisions but for me, it just made them more flawed and realistic and I was therefore more emotionally invested. Both Liam and Anna's relationship with Finn was lovely to read and it just adds to Liam's perfection how hard he's trying to improve himself and be the best father for Finn. April, Gemma and Max are an amazing and supporting ensemble for Anna and they keep her afloat when she feels like giving up.
A few niggles to note (and this is probably due to the fact that I am a teacher in a private prep school in Central London). If the school is as prestigious as suggested I highly doubt the following: - Teachers being able to be on their phones at any point during the school day - Teachers contacting parents (even in an emergency) using their personal phone number - A Y2 child goes missing and nobody notices for a significant period of time. If Finn was Y5 or Y6 I would say maybe, but at such young age children are just not left unattended. - The allergy incident. So much focus and care goes into safeguarding children these days (both physically and mentally) it's hard to imagine only one member of staff being aware/ responsible for all the children's info and any food containing nut being allowed on premise. I'm not saying it's impossible, I just fell it would be HIGHLY unlikely. - Anna being able to leave her class with someone else and just run off in search of Finn for two hours. Hmmmm... - Anna not meeting Liam from day 1. I don't know how Finn was in school for a whole month before Anna and Liam meet again - Tash going from being a full time devoted mother and wife to COMPLETELY abandoning Finn? I'm not sure. I get that maybe she was unhappy with Liam and for whatever reason he hadn't realised that they had issues. It's a whole other thing to literally abandon your child to only then go and have another baby with the new man? This didn't feel realistic. And her reaction when Liam called her to tell her Finn was in hospital, is she or is she not a monster and if she is did Liam actually never clocked this?
Ok, enough with the niggles. Overall, this was a jolly good time, I read it in a sitting and Tierney delivered skillfully exactly what the doctor prescribed. I was happy to suspend belief and dive into this and I promise you are going to have a great time reading this! Thank you to Tierney Page, Little, Brown Book Group UK | Sphere and NetGalley for this review copy, all opinions are my own.
I truly didn’t think I would read this book after my not-so-fun-time with The Suite Secret, but here we are…
Credit where credit is due, it’s definitely an improvement on multiple fronts, but there were still a few things that needed work.
Characters: The two main characters were way more developed and no longer felt two dimensional. While Anna had moments of cringy dialogue or unrealistic narration, she was still a solid protagonist. Liam, however, was a pretty incredible MMC—he was very competent and understood the trajectory of his life even when things didn’t go to plan.
Unfortunately, pretty much all of the side characters were still underwhelming and underdeveloped. And yes, Gemma still pissed me off. There were two main antagonists in the book but they were both very mediocre. I ran into the issue where characters were only written for a specific purpose, and because of that, these characters felt unrealistic or (again) two dimensional. Danielle annoyed me so much because she was only there to cause drama. Up until the end of the book I still didn’t understand her actual purpose other than to piss me off. Same goes for Roger—he only ever appeared to cause drama, piss me off, or make Liam spiral. And look, you don’t need to tell me what these character favourite colours are, but you need to give me something more to make them more realistic.
Plot: The story didn’t jump around a lot like in The Suite Secret, and instead focused on the main couple and their story line rather than twenty side quests (which made so much more sense). The pacing was also pretty good; the book jumped straight into it in chapter one and stuck at a fast pace most of the time.
However, It was kind of predictable at points. I’m upset there wasn’t a chapter dedicated to Anna talking to Finn about her relationship with Liam, and instead we got told that it happened. Which brings me to my biggest problem with this book.
✨Show don’t tell✨ Something I’m sure you’ve heard of if you’ve taken just one english or writing class ever in your life. A concept that apparently Tierney doesn’t know.
I had a similar issue in The Suite Secret: Tierney would either say something and not show it, OR she would show you, but then proceed to tell you what she just showed you. It was incredibly frustrating. Now she’s just not showing anything so…yay?
The BIGGEST instance of this was actually in Anna and Liam’s relationship. Anna and Liam had a very physical relationship right from the get go, but as the story progressed and they kept having said physical relationship, they started saying how it gotten past physical. Mind you, they’d had maybe three whole conversations unrelated to sex prior to this conclusion and hadn’t even gone on a date. There was no shift in their interactions that showed their relationship had changed to mean something more. I mean literally nothing they were the same people in the first and last chapter.
Oh, and there was so much sex but it was all kind of the same. Not much variation…and when they’re getting down and dirty every second chapter, there needs to be some changes every now and again.
But look, overall it wasn’t a bad book, in fact I did for the most part enjoy reading it so MAJOR IMPROVEMENT! Based on this book alone, I think Tierney Page has potential to write some really good spicy romance books, she just needs to further develop her plot and characters.
The Player's Promise, London Hearts book 3 of 3 by Tierney Page
Anna is nursing a broken heart after her divorce. The last thing on her mind is men. She got a new place, a new teaching job at a great private school, but she still feels... empty. She lets her two best friends drag her out for a night of fun, something she hasn't had in a long time. She didn't expect to get hit on by a ridiculously hot Irishman that night. Taking the advice of her brother's fiancée, one night of fun with no strings attached might be what she needs to kick this gloomy feeling and get back into the swing of things. No last names, hit it and quit it. She can do that. But when it was the best night she had ever experienced in her life, and could not stop thinking about him, maybe not exchanging information wasn't the best idea.
Liam and his son's lives have been turned upside-down. After getting kicked off his football team for assaulting the man with whom his girlfriend had cheated (his teammate), they moved from Ireland to the UK to start over. New country, new team, and since his ex all but abandoned their son, the distance is a good excuse to give him for why his mother isn't around, not that she just doesn't want to see him. After practice with his new teammates, they all go out for some drinks. Not his scene, but he needs to bond with these guys and some adult time. Not interested in the groupie women pawing at him and the other guys, he wasn't interested in a one-night stand with any of them. Then, when he spots a gorgeous woman across the bar who didn't seem to know who he was and was more interested in her friends than all the guys at the bar, he was very interested. A few flirty gazes show an interest, and he decides, screw it. A one-night stand might just be what the Dr ordered. Give a fake name so she doesn't realize he's a famous footballer. No last name, no phone number exchange. It will be great, and it was great. So great that he regrets giving a fake name, wishes he had gotten her number, and wishes he had paid more attention to the drive to her flat so he could see her again. Then, when his son started school, and there was an issue, he had to go speak with the teacher. His new teacher was Anna.
"You don't want to sleep with me?" He leans in closer, his voice dropping dangerously low. "Believe me". His gaze travels slowly from my eyes to my lips. "There are lots of things I'd like to do with you, but sleeping isn't one of them." Oh Shit. He's brazen.

This was a great story. Plenty of Tierney's humor comes in that I've always loved about her romance book reviews. There were serious topics discussed, healing trauma, sweet and sad moments. I enjoyed this read a lot. I like to be kicked in the feels a bit when reading a story, and this did that for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and the author for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Summary: The Player’s Promise follows Liam, a professional footballer carrying the weight of his past mistakes, and Anna, a woman determined to protect her heart while building a life on her own terms. As their connection deepens, they must decide whether they are willing to take a chance on a love that feels right, even when timing and circumstances seem to be working against them.
Thoughts: So this one was a fun, spicy time for sure! It was lighthearted but still had depth and complexity, and Tierney created such a nice, loving and familial vibes between all the characters. Anna was such a strong, independent woman and I loved seeing her find herself again in this book. She was an absolute powerhouse, and seeing her trust and become vulnerable after being so hurt, was beautiful to see. She had some depth and growth, and some really admirable traits that made her a well rounded character. Liam was such a genuine and loveable mmc. He had a reputation, but beneath it all he was protective and cared so passionately for those he loved. Seeing him share his past and really open up was lovely to see too. And the way he always showed up for his kid? So amazing and a reflection of a present and loving father. The chemistry between them from the start was so on point. It was hot and sexy, and the tension and longing amped it all up for the reader. The spice was plenty and never left you unsatisfied! I really enjoyed seeing the natural development of their relationship, where they built that trusting and caring friendship. It made it real and allowed me as the reader to fully absorb myself in their connection. The more emotional moments hit really well and I liked how Tierney touched on all the important topics in their pasts. She never glossed over them, they were always present and had to be dealt with in order for their relationship to thrive. Her writing was fast paced and easy to read, and it was hard to not get caught up in the story. That said, there were a few aspects that just didn't click for me. I knew going into this it was going to be spicy, but I think by the end it got a bit repetitive and too much for me. I enjoyed it and it was well written spice, but it was the same thing constantly and I so would have preferred more emotional, genuine moments. I wanted a bit more depth and emotional exploration from the characters outside of the bedroom. We got a glimpse of a few mundane, more meaningful moments, but as a hopeless romantic, I wanted a lot more! It also led to some parts being rushed and not talked about nearly enough. Even so, I was still obsessed and invested in Liam and Anna's story and loved their happy ending. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read and I'm keen to jump into the others (yes I read them out of order, but couldn't pass on this Arc opportunity!) and see what Tierney has in store for us all next 💞
I’ve genuinely loved every book in Tierney Page’s London Hearts series, and this one was no exception. I originally found Tierney on TikTok because her humor is exactly my vibe—she appreciates all things romance, from beautifully emotional to completely unhinged and deliciously smutty, and I was thrilled to see that same voice come through so clearly in her writing. Her debut hooked me instantly (I blazed through it in one sitting that turned into a full-on morning), and she hasn’t let up since. In the words of the woman herself, “Absolute BANGERS”!
This third installment follows Anna, the newly divorced, heart-of-gold angel of our trio of besties. She’s a primary schoolteacher who has always dreamed of having a family of her own, now left picking up the pieces of her broken heart after her ex-husband wasted years of her life without being honest about not wanting children. (Yes, we hate him. Correctly.)
After some much-needed motivation (pep talks and maybe some liquid encouragement) from her best friends, Anna finally gets out of her comfort zone for a night out—and ends up in the arms of a devastatingly handsome Irishman who reminds her of exactly what she’s been missing (multiple O’s). What’s meant to be a perfect one-night memory quickly spirals into something much more complicated when she discovers her mystery man is the father of one of her new students… and not exactly who he said he was. Enter Liam (not the name he gave Anna); professional footballer (rugby for all of us Americans), secret-keeper, and walking temptation with an accent that makes you melt.
Of course, their chemistry is undeniable, and what follows is a forbidden, steamy, can’t-keep-their-hands-off-each-other kind of relationship that will have you kicking your feet and grinning like an idiot.
Both Anna and Liam bring their own baggage from their failed relationships and traumatic childhoods into the mix (because of course they do), and the story takes you through all the highs and lows—healing, vulnerability, fear, and ultimately, love. And while the emotional depth is there, it’s balanced perfectly with some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a while; mixed perfectly with Tierney’s signature humor of course. I’m not kidding when I say I woke my husband up multiple times laughing (and possibly multiple times from the spicy scene inspo, IYKYK!)
I absolutely adored this book and honestly feel a little sad at the thought that the London Hearts series might be coming to an end. That said, if this is any indication of what’s next, I have zero doubt Tierney will take us on another wildly entertaining, deliciously spicy, and heartfelt ride with a whole new cast of characters; and I’ll be first in line to devour it.

Yall. He calls her angel. That’s all that needs to be said.
Ok, but actually moving on, there’s quite a bit to unpack with this one. There’s something easy and sweet about the London Hearts series and that’s why I keep coming back for them. That being said, I cannot say they are the most amazing books ever. They are sweet, they make me smile, they make me laugh, and they make me cringe in the “oh this is so cute” way, but they have flaws. However, I didn’t want to put this book down until I finished and I LOVE ME a sports romance and single dad, put that together and you have a happy reader lol.
Now, I will say there came a point where the spice was too much for me. I don’t mind spice, I don’t search for it, but I don’t mind it BUT when over half the book is smut then there begins to be problems because at that point it becomes boring and you begin to search for the actual plot. In addition I found Anna rather annoying (as I usually do) and unreasonable but other than that this really was a good book
Moving in, to talk about Liam….(which lemme just quickly say these books have the most generic names ever it makes me laugh I love it) he had me hooked. He was caring, protective (perhaps too much but hey we all have flaws), and he loved with his entire soul. BUT THEN, he made the biggest mistake of admitting the most horrendous secret I done ever heard….HE HATES PIZZA. Lolll jkjk that’s not horrendous but that scene where she was like “who hates pizza??” I felt that, and honestly I don’t know why, but knowing that made me connect further with him and although I disagree with the stance I truly do like Liam’s character. I like the way he treats Anna and I LOVE him with his son.
Also I LOVE how much the trio and their patterns were in this one because the trio is what makes this book and overall series so warm. I loved them all (Gemma’s such a real one I love her) and they got Anna through the hard times when she really needed it.
Now, I’m gonna wrap this up but before I do….THEY A NOTTING HILL MOMET OMG. A FREAKING NOTTING HILL MOMENT, NOTTING HILL IS OKE OF MY MOST FAVORITE MOVIES OH MY GOODNESS. Now, I had a love hate relationship with this scene bc wtf u mean u stealing from one of my fave movies but at the same time awww ur drawing from one of my fave movies 😭
I’ve followed Tierney Page’s book recommendations for a while, but this was my first time actually reading one of her books and... it definitely did not disappoint👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. In this story, we follow Anna, a lovely teacher looking for a fresh start after her divorce… and desperately needing an escape 👀. Then there’s Liam, an Irish soccer player whose life completely unravels after a horrible betrayal and a messy punch-up cost him everything: his career, his team, and his reputation. A one-night stand with a stranger??? No last names, no strings attached... just the fireworks🎆 and distraction they both need. Until… Liam never expected to see Anna again, only to discover she’s going to be his son’s new teacher. Tatataaaaaa And Anna... she knows she shouldn’t get involved with a student’s father, especially not him.
I think this book had the perfect balance of plot and spice. My heart was completely with Anna; she deserved so much better. Honestly, I think she should’ve sued her ex’s ass off ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 I’ll absolutely be reading more of Tierney Page’s books after this one, and I’m so glad I finally got the chance to read her work. Thank you to NetGalley, the fabulous Tierney Page, and Forever Publishing for the ARC. I can’t wait to read more from the catalog.
Thank you NetGalley, Forever, and Tierney for the ARC! Per usual, my review and opinions are 100% my own
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tierneyyyyyyy. You have outdone yourself on this one. Per Tierney's usual style, she PACKED in the heat. Dare I say it's her best yet?! She also packs the emotional one two punch straight from the get go. I knew from the last book that I would have some strong feelings for Anna with what she's going through, but I really did not expect to go through this emotional rollercoaster for Liam as well.
This book was emotional, packed with heat, so heartfelt with the best family / found family one could ask for. I love the world that she's created and all of us could only be so lucky to find a support group like this.
We knew from book 2 that Anna would be going THROUGH IT in this one. The future she had envisioned was nowhere in sight and I can't even imagine that after 8 years of marriage to her ex-husband. Who would have thought (us. all of us lol) that one night could change the entire trajectory of her future? A one night stand with a hot Irish stranger she picks up at a bar ends up being the best decisions she's ever made.
And Liam?! The MOUTH ON THAT MAN. Balanced with the emotional depth and him being the best father is the perfect combo for all of our ovaries to burst. The spice is TOP TIER in this one ladies and gents. From the beginning all the way to the end, the heat is absolutely scorching and the mouth on this man needs to be studied and replicated.
The real tugs on your heart come with our lil man Finn though. No kid should have to go through what he went through and it infuriated me that someone could be that cruel. I was in love with this lil man and the way he formed his bond with Anna while trying to be so strong through it all. His bond with Anna is tear-worthy in the best of ways.
All in all, I am obsessed with this series and what a way to end it. I did end up finishing the last little bit on release day, so of course I had to get the audio to immersive read the ending and MAN OH MAN. You need to experience Liam's dirty filthy mouth on audio ladies. Just trust me on this one.
