A world torn apart by greed. A boy bound by prophecy. A rebel who swore never to bow again.

Casteel was born to muck out stables, not carry the weight of kingdoms. But when he shifts into a silver wolf—the prophesied savior whispered about in legend—he’s dragged into the spotlight as a symbol for priests who are even crueler and more corrupt than the nobles they replaced. Crowned in chains of faith and fear, he knows he is nothing more than a puppet dressed in prophecy.

Nero has spilled blood for freedom, losing everything—his family, his faith, his heart—under the emperor’s greed. He has no intention of letting a boy, barely a man, undo the rebellion’s sacrifice by becoming another false idol. With his bow and assassin’s aim, Nero infiltrates the ceremony meant to crown the wolf savior… and prepares to end it with a single arrow.

But when he looks into Casteel’s eyes, he doesn’t see a ruler. He sees a prisoner. Miserable, broken, and used. His hand falters, his arrow misses—and in that heartbeat, the truth strikes harder than any the boy he meant to kill is his fated mate.

Now Nero must decide if destiny is another chain meant to bind him… or the only hope left to save them both.

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

This series is really cool because every book is in the same universe, and they're all interconnected, but also they're pretty independent. Which gives a lot more variety to the plots in each one

I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 3 in the Wolves of the Five Kingdoms series, and you don't need to have read the others before this one. Helpful, but not necessary.

Casteel shifted into a silver wolf when he was scared by a snake. He is then plunged into a life he never wanted. Nero is sent to kill the one who claims to be the silver wolf of prophecy. But when their eyes connect across the courtyard, Something in Casteel's eyes make him falter and then both men are drawn into a world of power and politics that might well cost them both their lives.

I loved book 1, gave it five stars. Book 2 got four but I read it on KU and didn't write a review. This book I found to be on a par with book 3.

Casteel doesn't want this life, the High Priest Doran using all sorts of ways to "persuade" the silver wolf out. It's clear until much later in the book WHY he wants to wolf, but he makes it very clear he wants the wolf under his power. Nero offers Casteel a way out, and CAsteel would have taken it, he really would but Nero ends up being his mate and then there is all sorts of back stabbing and double crossing and I wasn't sure which was way up sometimes!

It's quite a bit darker, I think, than the other two books. Casteel suffers badly at the hands of Doran and Nero has suffered fighting for the rebellion. Once Doran grabs power, it's very clear he is not concerned about the people of this land, just what he can get out of them and he will do whatever he wants.

Not especially explicit, for a fated mates/werewolf/paranormal book but I loved that it wasn't.

What this book is about is more than the smex between these two. It's about dealing with the hand that fate dealt you, and doing what you need to do to free your people from under a madman. Even if that might get you killed.

Just a note, very well played with the wolf! Never saw that coming!

4 very VERY good stars

This was really a great book. Casteel and Nero make a lovely couple, both with their strengths and flaws are amazing MCs and Victoria Sue tells their story amazingly well.
I recommend reading the previous books in the series, it's not necessary, but they are very good too and you will enjoy seeing old characters.
I think this is my favorite in the series, the sacrifice the MCs are willing to do in order to keep the other safe and how they grow personally and as a couple throughout the novel, the action and magic, the wonder I felt while reading; a must read indeed.
It's well edited, with solid writing, it has deep MCs with an interesting secondary cast, the not romantic plot keeps you engaged and the heated scenes are, well, hot.
Don't miss it!

More Twists and Turns than a Fats Domino song from the 50’s

Holy Cow, Y’all! Great ending to a great series! No spoilers here… when an assassin sees his mark, the stable boy, and realizes it’s his bonded mate!? Whats he to do? Well, as roles become blurred and lines crossed, Victoria Sue again weaves a web so twisted, I couldn’t figure out what would happen until the very end! At one point, I was so wrapped up in the situation with the evil priest, (his mama didn’t raise him right or something) I had to stop and pour myself a drink, before I could continue reading! I laughed, wept and cheered while reading this book… Victoria has a way of drawing you in and holding you there! Best read in order, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES!

The Omega Assassin
this was a really good book. I sometimes struggle with the paranormal because I feel like I get lost in the world building and I dont know what is going on. This book did a great job of world building I didnt feel like it was 5 chapters of explanation just to understand what was happening nor did I feel lost like I didnt understand wjat was happening. I read this book in a single setting and stayed up till 1am to finish because I wanted to see what happened. Of course it had the HEA we all need and love but it was done it such a great way. At first I thought it was going to be a slightly bittersweet hea but it all worked out in a beautiful way

This book was thrilling from beginning to end with great imagery, magic, mystical creatures, and the classical theme of good versus evil. Casteel is a simple young stable man when he shifts one time to a powerful wolf creature. It is nothing he can control despite an evil head priest who tortures hime for it.

When Nero, a leader in the resistance movement, comes to assassinate the Silver Wolf to stop the evil abuses and death crossing the land, he can't bring himself to make the kill. Later, he is shocked to learn that he is Casteel's mate. This launches an exciting, action-packed tale. Very entertaining reading!

The Omega Assassin is a great ending to a fantastic series. Casteel is a wonderful and caring character. It takes Nero a little while to accept what is happening between the two of them but once he does he’s with Casteel all the way. I absolutely love the vivid picture that Victoria Sue’s words paint in my mind. The Skellarae horses added a lot to the story. I’m sorry to see this series end but I know Victoria has a dragon series starting soon and I’m looking forward to reading those books!

Perfect ending to the series

Casteel is sweet and gentle, forced into a life he never wanted.
He suffers horrific abuse at the hands of religious leaders.
Nero is battle hardened and is desperate to end this new religious fervor.
When he realizes they're fated mates, his priorities change.
These two were so wonderfully portrayed, both willing to sacrifice to keep the other safe and happy.
There's lots of fast-paced action, danger, drama, and betryals.

Great addition to the series!

I loved The Omega Assassin by Victoria Sue. I loved Casteel and Nero's story. They both had their own insecurities and hiccups and self esteem issues but being bonded and fated mates helped them work through it. It was an entertaining story and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I read this book using the Kindle unlimited app.

An Intense Romance

This storyline has strong characters, good character development, drama and conflict, slowly developing romance, and a final hopeful resolution at the end. Some of the conflicts are bloody battles, some emotionally intense, and all laced with paranormal portent.

Sweet conclusion to series

I love Victoria Sue’s characters, but I must say that her world building just keeps getting better and better. My emotions were up and down as I read this book because it is that kind of story with lots of emotions and feels. I’m rather sad that this is the last of this series.

Wow! What a fabulous end to this series. Casteel shifted into a wolf in book 2. In this book, he can't shift and the priests are very cruel as the try to get him to do it again. Nero, is going to kill Casteel but misses. When the two become bonding, they ultimately are on a run for their life. The world building is amazing in this story. The hea and epilogue were the icing!

I think this was my favorite book in the series. I loved Nero’s stoic personality and dependability. He was exactly what poor Casteel needed. Their story had so many twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat.

A really good ending to the series. I'm not sure how I feel about certain events. They seemed a bit out there but overall I thought this was a good read.

Fate bound Casteel and Nero together but they had to fight hard for their HEA. There were so many close calls and at times I well up as events unfolded.

I adored Casteel: he was sweet, kindle and had a gentle soul whereas, Nero was weather hardened and suffered terrible loss. These two found love when the least expected and embraced it.

Fantastic book!
