Ariel can see the dead. In fact, if she stays in one place for too long, the dead with unfinished business will find and latch onto her, giving her no choice but to assist them or suffer in pain. It all started after her aunt passed away. This has made dating or developing any type of relationship very difficult for her. She is looking at a very lonely future, and all she wants is to be normal.
Vio is a four-hundred-year-old immortal who was not born, but made and stitched together from parts taken from others. All he wants to do is be able to die.

“She sees the dead. He made from one.”

Death, aka Dennis, strikes a bargain with the two, granting their desires if they work together to find the madman who is raising the dead. And they have one month to do so. Ariel soon discovers that she is a spirit healer and that Vio does not have any ghosts attached to him. He is not only handsome, but he is safe to be around. Maybe this is her chance at a relationship, but if they are successful in their search, he will die. With the clock ticking, what follows is a well-written, fast-paced, action-packed, dark romance with part of the story set in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

This story is perfect for fans of Dennis, aka Death, whom we met in Foster’s novel Post Mortem Management, and for those who enjoy a bit of darkness and morbid in their fantasies. It is a story with tough choices and no-win situations. Shadow’s Grace is book one in a Gothic duology and ends on a cliffhanger, so I am counting the days until I can read the sequel.
