The night’s made for confessions. It cradles them safely, suspends them in the blackness, holding them until morning when we can either acknowledge or ignore them... With Elly’s love secured, and Haz’s all but guaranteed, I thought Nic would remain the only bleak spot in my existence. But a new threat emerges, a ghost from Nic’s past who will do anything to prise her back—even if that means coming for me. * Vying Girls is book two of two in a sapphic, why-choose duet. Content warnings can be found inside the cover.
I received Vying Girls as an ARC right after finishing Tricky Girls, and I was really excited to read it. However, I have to admit that I didn’t feel it quite lived up to the first book. At the risk of being unpopular, I think the book contained too much sex and too little plot. It took quite a lot before I was truly drawn into the story. I had been looking forward to getting deeper into Tilda and Nic’s backstory, but it felt a bit flat. The same goes for the Damien part, which in many ways felt rather half-hearted.
It was also my first “why-choose” book. I’m not sure it’s really my thing, but I actually thought it worked well in both Vying Girls and Tricky. That said, it made it harder to fully immerse myself in the different relationships, as it was difficult to really feel the individual characters.
Overall, I think the book was okay, and I would definitely recommend that anyone who has read Tricky Girls also read Vying Girls, in order to get the full conclusion. If you’re into dark romance, ffff-relationships, and a hell of a lot of smut, then this is the one.
What a great edition to Tricky Girls. I really enjoyed this as much as I did the first book. It was great to learn more about each characters past and watch them grow closer together, even if that meant pushing away first!
Who knew dry humping could be that hot!? The spice in this one was so good! Watching Tilda and Nic’s relationship develop was *chefs kiss*
Highly recommend this duet! Now I need to find me some more sapphic why choose books because I need more after this 😂
Written in first person with 4xPOV’s. Dark Romance, Touch her & die, Students, Healing From Trauma, Why-Choose (FFFF). 16x Spicy Scene.
thank you so much to holly thorne for providing me with an ARC!
i wanted to love this one so much, but it just didn't feel quite as strong as the first book.
the whole damien storyline didn't really work for me. it felt like it was there, lingering in the background to give the story some kind of direction, but it just didn't feel particularly interesting aside from the flashbacks/nic's past.
i also feel like the book lacked the kind of romance i like. i wanted to see more of tilda going on dates and having proper romantic moments with her girls outside of sex. the first book had so much of this which i loved, and the early on in the vying girls we had a bit of this too, but not much further on in the story.
i did enjoy the development we got with tilda and haz, and finally seeing the payoff for tilda and nic. i would've liked to see a bit more of elly and tilda though.
overall, it wasn't a bad sequel, i guess it just didn't quite meet my expectations as i loved the first book so much.
I received this book as an ARC from the author and could not put it down. I love that we got an in depth glimpse into their backstories, it made the characters that much more relatable. The spice was on another level!! I lost count of all the scenes!! Tilda and Nic’s chemistry just took my breath away. This book has so many exciting elements, drama, spice, suspense and action. Read it!! You need this book and these characters in your life, promise.
I received an ARC for free for an honest review and good lord I'm glad I did!
Holly Thorne continues to execute the enemies to lovers trope throughout this series between Nic and Tilda leaving you constantly guessing will they or won't they in the most delicious ways.
Throughout, you see Tilda's relationship with Elly and Haz grow and intensify at different paces creating this different and unique connection with each character, all while she still remains in the dark of her and Nics past until she doesn't...
If you're a masochist for toxic lust and yearning the kind that leaves your heart hammering and your breath panting, this is for you!
3.5 ⭐️ *subtle spoilers [indication of how book ends]*
I could not WAIT for this book!! The first book had me chomping at the bit.
The first book was so good, I had high expectations for this. I love Haz, Elly, and Nic and was happy to see them come back to life.
The story is complex and has substance, the writing tone was well done and the characters are likable. Though I liked how the book wrapped and was glad for the happy ending, it felt as though the plot was an after thought. Tricky Girls was incredibly well thought out and meticulously edited, however, it felt like this was rushed out. The apex of the story didn't happen until 85% of the way in, and while that isn't always bad, it felt like the author remembered toward the end that she needed to conclude main conflict of the story.
I look forward to reading more of Holly's work!!
*I received an ARC of this, thank you to Holly Thorne and team*

First and foremost, the book as a whole was absolutely captivating I read it in one sitting as soon as I got it. The story was flowing, the characters amazing (besides some), the spice… chefs kiss! I loved that we got to see more of backstory for Nic and Tilda and how they were as kids, puts a lot of Nic’s behaviour into perspective, even though she was a little bit annoying with her back and forth all the time until she finally saw the light. Elly continued as adorable as ever, caring about her family and doing everything for them. But now let’s focus on THE most important thing: HAZ! Completely and utterly in love with her and everything she says/does. How do I get myself one? What do I have to do? It’s been a while since I enjoyed a character this much, I want to wrap her in a blanket and keep her safe (not that she needs it). As for Tilda, she’s one lucky girl and I really liked that she’s showing her love for the girls in a different and unique way for each one.
I’m really looking forward to reading more books from her and hopefully we’ll see more of the characters in the future.
I was so excited that I was able to start this right away! I read book one not realizing it was a duet.
So amazing! Great ending for the girls and I think all my questions got answered. It was nice getting to like Nic towards the end. She was definitely one of those difficult to like characters for me.
thank you so much to Holly Thorne for the opportunity to be an ARC reader!! 🫶🏻 i devoured this book in 2 days, the writing and story line was so captivating I couldn’t put it down! (rip my sleep schedule)
i loved the way we got to see more of the full dynamic between Tilda, Elly, Haz and Nic. so much trauma, trust, depth and love in their relationships with each other-it warms my heart🥹
not to mention, THE SMUTTTT??🥵 10/10000 written so well and so spicy 🔥
i personally enjoyed this book even more than Tricky Girls! I loved the suspense of how everything was going to play out with Nic and her tragic past resurfacing. I also loved that we got to see so much more of Nic in this book; all her heartache, trauma and grief and then finally allowing herself happiness made me feel so many emotions and i am SO happy that she got the happy ending she always wanted 😭

I received an ARC of Vying Girls and was so excited to dive in after loving Tricky Girls. This book really holds the same energy as the first, if not taking it even further. The character development was wonderful to watch unfold, each girl felt authentic, layered, and complex. Holly Thorne has a real gift for writing characters who are messy, real, and relatable, and I appreciated how their dynamics kept me hooked from start to finish. While I think there’s still room for the story to push even deeper, this was such a satisfying and compelling read.
I got to read this as an ARC and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved getting to learn more about Haz and Nic in this book. It’s not very often second books in a series hold my interest, but I could barely put this book down. I do wish we could have seen more cute dates the characters went on like in the first book, but I did appreciate learning the history of some more of the characters. It was a tad bit darker than the first book, though I can appreciate that when it is done tastefully; as it was in this book. Overall, a great read that I highly suggest!! :)
I was given an ARC copy of Vying Girls by Holly Thorne and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily. Thank you Holly for this opportunity to read this amazing story.
What a ride. I really loved the first book, and in the end of it I just couldn’t wait for the second and it didn’t disappoint. And here we are, wishing I could just erase everything just to read both again.
Goddamn all these parents for corrupting these kids.
Holly made a great job in these characters and the bonding between the trauma they all share and made sure to make them human. They’re not perfect (even tho Elly might be) and I really loved seeing them grow all together.
The plot kept me really hooked, and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished.
Oh... and the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ . That chapter 20 just left me without breath.
I loved both books and these character will always be in my heart. I'll reread these for sure. The first book is a confort read and now I guess this one will become one too.
I can’t wait to read more of Holly books in the future.
Just like in Tricky Girls, Holly made an amazing job on the pace and character building of this story. My only complain is that i wish we got to see more and more of them, but this is a novel and (as much as it is to me) not a bible.
The pacing of the books is one only few authors can do: everything happening has it's own perfect time fitting into the narrative. There's no time on the book where you wonder "what's happening? what's this scene for? this is happening too fast!". Everything happens in a great pacing, so very natural you even forget you're reading a book. It makes you part of the narrative, sucking you in to the point you forget you exist and there's a whole real word outside those pages.
The aesthetic and tropes are immaculate, the gothic vibe so very haunting and beautifuly mixed with the violence and mafia word.
THE CHARACTERS, OH MY GOD. Tilda, my Matilda, such an adorable and understanding little magical witchling, so sweet and understanding of those broken girls even tho she's a broken girl herself. She works so hard to make all of them feel loved and understood and seen, the devotion she has over those women, the caring and attention to the little details, it's hard to express how much one character shows love and attention to three different characters, but Holly made it.
And the girls... oh, my handsome mascs, Elly the perfect mix of dominance and soft loving, Haz and Nic the most delicious blend of aggressive darkness and strong passionate devotion. Those three love Tilda in their unique ways, each giving her (AND EACH OTHER) something lacking. They complete her and each other so nicely, Elly giving Nic and Haz that softness to cushion their harsh personalities, Haz being the funny, fiercely protective and adventurous member of their party, and Nic being a kind of glue, a bond that brought those two together and is there for them even when she can't be there for herself. Their relationship with Tilda is beautiful when they're couples, but when they're all together, that's when the gears fit and make this vintage and slightly tilting clock work.
Each character has their own struggles and personal matters, their own trauma and fears that make them react to...life the way they do. Nic's hatred for Tilda, everyone that failed her and specially for herself, Tilda's loneliness and longing for love and validation, Haz's trauma with love and her making of her own self-fulfilled-prophecy, Elly's sense of duty with her family and that hopelessness for her future that comes with it. And in the end, each one of them helps to heal those disfunctional beliefs of the other.
ANYWAY, such an amazing sequence and end of the duology for those girls... My Fantastic Four is finally together and on their way to healing, and i wish i could see a whole another book of them just being happy and catching spells of love and bonding.
Nooooooow on our way to the second part of the series, following Fina, Aurelie, Violet and Blakely!!!! Soooooo many questions about those four! Who is Margot to them, specially Fina and Aurelie?? Why is Violet always around if she's just Blake's hook up? WHYYY are Fina and Blakely always teasing, pushing, poking and provoking Aurelie?? And why does she just let them??? Who's Aurelie and why all the fuss around her? WHAT'S GOING ON, I CAN'T WAAAAAAAAAAIT.
If just like me, you want:
•Poly relationships with a hot woman being adored by more hot women •Gothic & Darka Academia vibes •College setting •Mystery •Mafia and secret societies
“We just have to wait for spring?” She smiles. “Yeah. It’ll be here before we know it.”
❤️🔥🕯️⚔️⛓️💥🌕🌑💋💍🏑🥊♟️🚨🍻⛺️🔪💊
I was so excited to hear Holly Thorne came out with book 2 just because I wanted to read more about Elly. My sweet little ray of masc sunshine! I never in a million years thought I would be rooting for Nic by the end. I love Tilda with Elly, I love Tilda with Nic, but I am still on the fence with Tilda with Haz romantically. I love Haz when it comes to emotions and Tilda needing her for someone who understands the darkness.
“We love the dark, you and me.”
Haz I think scares me because she is impulsive and doesn’t seem to worry about her words, actions, and how Elly & Nic may feel. I just feel like she may be a little dismissive and if you’re going to be in a throuple especially with my sweet baby angel Elly.. you can’t be like that. Haz’s story was very traumatic and I am so intrigued on how the hell she got out of the accident alive and to the hospital. Guess we will never know?
Elly having to deal with her grandfather being sick, her family back home, and possibly leaving school was so sad for me. I wish we saw more of Elly in this book. She was definitely not a priority to the author and it showed. I loved how we got to go home with Elly in Tilda’s POV and how Nic came in and did something really sweet for her. ELLY DESERVES ALL THE GOOD THINGS. Tbh, I did cry when her grandfather did pass. Broke my little heart for my baby.
“They have no idea how much they complete each other- There can be no day without night, no sun without the moon.”
I love Blakey and that whole storyline when Tilda found them and got them to find Nic and get Damien away. Also? Fuck Damien and I bet we will be seeing more of Joey in the future. I bet we will get more books on that. But Damien was SICK and I kinda loved how the chapter ended with Tilda saying “you fucker” and it was solely her decision to do what she did hehe.
Nic, Nic, Nic. That's all I gotta say. I was kicking my feet and giggling after a while. Even when she was annoying the hell out of me. MY LORD. I love a moody masc. That’s all.
And my girl, Tilda. I felt super seen by her in this book. When she said: “I know I’m fucking horrid but I’m not hurting anyone on purpose.” That really got me. She truly thought she was hurting others, she thought she was the problem, she was so overly emotional because she wanted people to just like her, to get along with her- a true example of a people pleaser, a fixer. All I can really say is I feel so seen in her character in so many ways it’s crazy.
“My first soulmate, a love so unbreakable it almost consumed us. But we clawed our way back, built us back up, the two children in us refusing to give up on something so rare.”
“Bane of my life, love of my life.”
“Knights vying for the chance to save the princess.”

Thank you for the ARC! While I thought the first book was stronger, this was an OK sequel.
I found the quality of writing improved a bit in book 2, but like the first book, Vying Girls would benefit from being edited down a little. There's a couple of side plots that probably didn't need to be there. The book did relatively neatly wrap things up in the end, but the book felt a bit wind-y and like the author was making it up as they went. Not sure how I felt about the Damien angle, it felt a little incomplete or awkwardly imposed.
It was good to get some backstory on Haz, although I wish her backstory was a bit different to the others but I suppose it explains her friendship with Nic. Less emphasis on Elly in this book, but nice to see Tilda being sweeter and more appreciative of her. I still found Tilda a bit meh, but she was more likeable in book 2. Less romance than book 1 though.
Nic I still do not like. While getting the context of her childhood and adolescence was important for understanding some of her behaviour, I still found her behaviour towards Tilda appalling, unjustified and not believable. It's probably a personal thing, but I can't really understand how Nic could have ever rationalised her behaviour and for it to drag on for about 1.5 books. I think I was also expecting something more egregious from Tilda's past regarding Nic e.g. bullying and therefore a role reversal in the present where the bullied (Nic) becomes the bully. I'm glad Nic turned things around, but it was still weird. Tilda is very forgiving!
Like book 1, the dialogue felt real. As I alluded to in my book 1 review, I normally find mafia plot inclusions a little cringe. I am actually quite intrigued by it in book 2, and want to learn more about this uni's dark underbelly. I wish the complication and drama toward the end had more to do with the existing mafia adjacent characters, rather than inserting Damien in.
Overall, I still enjoyed the book but found the second half a bit hard to get through.
I received this book as an ARC after reading Tricky Girls, the first in the duology. I was so excited to be able to take part in the ARC read. I read TG back in February and then twice since then before getting to ready Vying Girls.
The character building in these books is top notch. It's so easy to love all of them, despite their flaws. VG picks up where TG leaves off. You get a lot more of the backstory between Nic and Tilda which really helps you understand their connection. Slowly you start to see them understand each other, what happened between them, and how they balance each other so well. Nic really struggles with caring for Tilda while still being so angry. Being able to gain some insight into both of their upbringings was wonderful and allows the reader to see where they're both coming from. They learn some secrets about each other that kind of brings them together, a common enemy if you will, that helps them move on from mistakes of the past.
Along with their back stories, you also get to see Haz's back story. To see her open up about her past was probably my favorite part of the book. She loves so deeply behind that tough exterior that she shows.
And then there's Elly... The most patient, the most tender heart, it's hard not to love her. The woman of my dreams, right there. *Sigh*
The friendship/bond between Nic, Haz, and Elly is beautiful. They are truly the meaning of "chosen family," and are there for one another always and they all show love and care for Tilda in different ways and allow her to be what they need.
The spice level in this book is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. I love Holly Thorne's spice scenes and this book definitely did not disappoint. She definitely took those scenes to the next level.
I'm already looking forward to reading it again, and I love these characters so much that I want more!!
After falling into the world of Hazlehurst in book one, getting to read the ARC for Vying Girls was such a treat!
Let’s start with the characters development… overall I enjoyed the development of the characters in this book. I appreciated getting to delve more into Haz and Nic’s respective pasts as I felt it explained their motives better in book one and two. We were also given a glimpse into how Tilda has grown up, I’m not sure it was necessary but I appreciated the information all the same. The only downside I have re the character development is that of Elly; I feel we fell in love with Elly in book one and she somehow faded into the background in book two.
Now the plot… I’ve seen others review this book and feel that the plot was not up to the same standard of book one. I however would disagree, yes I understand that the Damien storyline felt that it was constantly on the edge of becoming the main big thing and didn’t, but I don’t necessarily see that a negative in this book. I feel it added to an already enticing story. The development between the characters and their relationships felt to be the more prominent plot line and Damien was there to simply add to it. Overall, I actually feel that the plot in this second book was stronger in the sense it had layers, if the reader looked well enough.
And of course, the sex… if you enjoy sex scenes with multiple characters and/or steamy moments of will they won’t they, then this book will not disappoint. I don’t feel that at any point were the sex scenes there just for the sake of it, they felt natural and organic to personalities of the characters.
So, overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others along with book one.
First of all I want to say thank you Holly Thorne for the ARC copy of Vying Girls! Tricky Girls became on of my top favorite dark romances for 2025 and Vying Girls just did as well! Secondly i want to apologize for getting this ARC review up so late! I had some personal things (some unexpected and some not) arise and unfortunately i had to sort of kinda put reading on a back burner as life just seemed to have gotten overwhelming busy for a little bit there. So again, for that, i am so genuinely and so deeply sorry! Now, going into the review—anyone who has read Holly Thornes books before, is no stranger to her amazing writing! the way she creates a plot that holds your attention the whole way through and has you trying to guess what’s gonna happen WHILE still writing top tier spice is utterly amazing! In this conclusion of the Girls of Hazelhurst series you continue with the story of all four main characters you got to know and love in Tricky Girls, and without spoiling anything for new readers, let’s just say you definitely get to know and love them a whole lot more. In this book you embark on a journey of love, friendship, a whole lot of fierce and determined and strong women, magic, and a whole lot of found family! if you were contemplating picking this one up, do yourself a favor and read it because you won’t regret it! Please do be aware of TW’s though! Please read through them thoroughly and proceed with any caution necessary!!
Dark Romance is not something I read a lot of, but I made and exception with Tricky Girls after getting that book recommended by a friend and was baffled about how much I loved it. When I finally got my hands on the sequel, Vying Girls, I was all in to finally get that resolution that just had been hinted at in Tricky Girls. We knew Nic hated Tilda from something she had done in the past and that Tilda had no clue who Nic was.
Vying Girls is all about redemption, forgiveness and love and it was an amazing sequel giving me all the answers I craved. Tilda is finally admitting she is part of the sapphic community. You get the horrid backstories of Tilda, Nic and Haz, what they endured as children, their trauma and darkness, and what they must try to move past. Finding out why Nic hates Tilda so much, why Tilda is harming herself and why Haz is so reluctant to love someone is making you just want to hug them. Fortunately, the quartet of Tilda, Elly, Haz and Nic just makes sense, they complement each other and together they are unbreakable once all the old shit has been resolved. Tilda is one lucky girl with those three girls in her life!
I received a free ARC from the author and leave a review voluntarily.
The book’s trigger warnings include, but may not be limited to, drug use, suicide references and ideation, self-harming, child sexual misconduct and rape (in past but heavily discussed), and death of a family member.
After that torturous cliffhanger in book one I couldn’t wait for book two. Vying Girls was so worth the wait! There is so much spice in this FFFF why-choose dark sapphic romance and it’s hotter than hot. If you’re looking for dark themes, power play dynamics, and captivating characters you won’t be disappointed.
In Vying Girls we get to see the deeper development of the romantic and sexual relationships between Tilda, Elly, and Haz. There is also a wild threesome on Tilda’s birthday where Tilda gets to try something she’s always wanted to try. Is it normal to be jealous of fictional characters? We also find out all about Tilda and Nic’s pasts and traumatic childhood experiences. Yes there is a happy ever after but it’s not easily achieved. Especially when a very dark figure from Nic’s past threatens everything they’ve precariously attained.
As much as I enjoyed Tricky Girls, I absolutely loved Vying Girls, and I can’t wait to read anything else that Holly Thorne writes in the Hazelhurst setting.
The main characters feel like real people and the topics that are discussed are really important.
Tilda’s relationship with Elle, Haz, and Nic are all different yet beautiful in their own way. They need different things from one another.
Don’t even get me started on Nic and Tilda. Their history is insane and so well thought out by the author. It was interesting to get to see their relationship progress but at times a little frustrating lol.
I also adore the found family aspect of this book not only between Tilda and the girls but between Nic, Haz, and Elle. The history shared between them made their relationship with Tilda that much more interesting.
The dark academia vibes of this book was exactly what I wanted and just in time for fall.
I do have to say that I usually never guess major plot points before they happen, they always just go right over my head lol but when Tilda got kidnapped I did see that coming easily.
The ending felt good to me and really tied everything up. I can walk away from this book knowing that they are all living in the book universe happy. I am so excited for Holly Thorne to release more books!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I received this book as an ARC. It was everything I hoped it would be. The story was compelling, the character growth and backstories were so well written I couldn’t put the book down. I absolutely adore Nic and Tilda’s chemistry and not just the Roman’s between our femme and her mascs but also the friendship bond all mascs have with each other. I love how protective they are and how they’re willing to do anything to keep the others safe.
The spice was absolutely delicious🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️And there’s a few spicy chapters that are my faves but I won’t spoil🤭
All in all a great conclusion to the first. This book(in truth both of them) have become faves of mine and I can’t wait to get a Nic tattoo(her arm sleeve specifically) this will be my second book tattoo(total of 10 tattoos but just one book related one) so you can imagine how much I love this book and these characters that I’m getting them permanently done on my body🖤That’s how much I love them🖤
Put this book at the tippy top of your TBR cause I promise you’ll absolutely love it🖤
Yeah, this was everything I wanted in the sequel to Tricky Girls. Tilda finally discovering who Nic is, but that not being the end of it — taking nearly the whole book to really align their views of the past and rediscover each other. Haz’s background in detail, and why she can feel the same for a person as Elly does but manifest it in such a completely different way. How Elly resolves care for her family with her own future. How Tilda comes to accept her feelings for each of these girls. Plus, an actual storyline beyond all the relationship drama!
At the same time, it’s kind of that weird situation where I wouldn’t call this the greatest book ever because it’s not much without Tricky Girls. There’s no point in a payoff if you skipped the build-up, you know? Yet, it’s a fantastic end to the story. Of the two I would always choose Tricky Girls, because that saucy slow burn toaster oven was just incredible. But, this actually IS the payoff. So, both? Can I pick both? (Or “all of the above,” as the case may be?)
the three flavours of top - gentle top, rough top, and woman who just fucking hates you
I mean yeah the sex is great. you're reading this to read a sad girl being adopted by and then shared between three tops right? the spice is strap-oriented in a way that feels a little heteronormative, but it's very evocative. and the different dynamics between Tilda and the three ladies are all well done and distinct from each other. the romance part is big feelings, baggage, and awful communication, which I love
the drama arc, is, well. the university remains a wild setting, a mafia-run university where it's less drunken frat boys slipping roofies and more orgies and fight clubs in crypts. then you have fun side characters like manic pixie free use masochist and bull dyke who will pick her teeth with your ribs. and these are the nice helpful ones. that being said this could all be very realistic, I lived off campus at my university so I wouldn't know
to be honest, give me the book without the villain even showing up and I've have liked it even more. but for whatever reason people don't write books entirely for my consumption
I love that while it’s why choose and definitely full of fantastic spice. The point of all the relationships is to elevate Tilda’s healing and better portray different sides of her.
In this second book we fully embrace Tilda’s queerness now. She’s found herself. She gets to grow in her intensity with Haz’s passion. She gets to grow in her softness with Elly’s kindness. And she gets to understand her trauma through her joint history with Nic.
All of these characters are so well rounded and complex. They all have their own tragic backstories that are explored and I think entirely relatable for readers. I believe most of the “dark” aspects of this duology settled in their backstories that many people have some experience with, not in the romance itself. I enjoy that the romance is more a place of fun and discovery and not necessarily the traumatic element of the storyline. This allowed me to be fully immersed in the plot!
If you are reader who loves trauma healing- this is definitely a must read!
I enjoyed this book for what it was, a fun, spicy dark romance. It is perfect for fall and fans of dark academia. The relationships between the four FMC were unique and I was rooting for all of them, but Nic has a special place in my heart. A good balance of plot and spice. I’m not sure if it was a standalone sequel, but make sure you read the 1st book ‘Tricky Girls’ for you will be utterly lost. A must-read for any sapphic dark romance fan.
❤️Things I liked ❤️ Great masc/butch rep (Nic baby 💋) Polyamory/why-choose? The vibes Mafia crimes
🔥Things I Could Take or Leave 🔥 Dual 1st person POV (The narrative voice for Nic spoke in incomplete sentences, which was distracting) Toxic Yuri (I like dark romances, but I felt some of the characters were mean just for drama, not for meaningful character development and I wanted the romance between the other characters outside of Tilda to go deeper) Length (this is a sequel and I think this could have been one book, or a much shorter sequel)
I received this as an e-book ARC and am giving my honest review.
I'm not sure I have ever loved a sequel to a book more than the first book until now. The emotional roller-coaster this story takes you on is so intense and leaves you on the edge of your seat begging for more. The writing is just phenomenal... the descriptions, the raw emotions seeping from the pages is pure bliss. There is so much character development among all four girls throughout the story and it's absolutely beautiful to see how each of them handle the stress and chaos life is throwing at them. Truthfully, I didn't care much for Tilda in the first book and now I couldn't be happier that she found her way into Haz, Elly, and Nic's lives. The way they all care for one another and the way they show their love and affection is all encompassing and just magnificent. It speaks volumes to the trauma they have each had to overcome and the work they continue to do to be better and not just for themselves but for each other. I did not want this book to end!
A huge thank you to the Author Holly Thorne for the opportunity to read this ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
5/5🌟 Be still my tiny queer heart! One of the best duets I’ve read and everyone must go read this now! 🏃♀️ The conclusion to Tricky Girls that I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for has arrived & let me tell you it did not disappoint! 👏🔥
This book was well worth the wait, well worth the months spent ✨YEARNING✨ for the happy ending that our beloved girls deserved. These characters, their stories, the banter/humor and overall relatable-ness of it all is just SO good and well represented. And the spice was SPICIN’! 😮💨This duet will forever hold a special place in my heart and has quickly become an ultimate comfort read. Legit you can catch me yapping about it daily to anyone that’ll listen! Holly is a superb story teller & master at weaving this beautiful world together. I loved the deeper look into the secret society and mafia ties we got in this and I cannot wait to see where the girls of Hazelhurst take us next! 😍
Special thanks to Holly for the ARC copy of this book! ILYSM 🫶🥹
