A Few Favorite Quotes: ‘Love, family, forever. That shit’s for them. Me? I’m just the wicked devil still dancing on the edges.”
“I want to worship you tonight, amore.”
“I want to make you smile more than you flinch, Kitty Cat. Please, give me the chance.”
I swirl my drink again, watching the amber catch the light. Maybe it’s better this way. I’ve never been the relationship type. Too reckless, too charming for my own good, too busy burning through nights and women like matches.
At least, that’s what I tell myself. But the truth, the truth is different.
Because there was one.
One girl who mattered. One summer I can’t shake no matter how many women I distract myself with. Her hair burned like copper in the sun, her laugh salted the air, and those eyes, as blue as the sea we swam in, saw every flaw I tried to hide. That girl burrowed under my skin and never left.
There’s no shortage of names. Models, dancers, influencers, half of them saved with emojis I can’t even remember assigning. cherries, black heart, fire. Hell, most of the women in this city are in my phone, all waiting for me to light the match. Normally, I’d spark one and burn the night away without thinking twice. But tonight? Every name feels wrong. Every smile is the wrong shade of red. Every laugh, too hollow compared to hers.
I hover over a random name, then tap out a message before I stop cold, my thumb over the send button.
Me: You up?
The thought of meaningless sex, of some stranger in my bed, leaves a sour taste in my mouth. My stomach twists tighter. Normally, it would be easy. Quick, dirty, and forgettable. But not now. Not with her damned constant presence haunting me.
The old Matteo would be laughing his ass off at the shadow of the man I’ve become in the last week. Funny how a ghost from the past can inflict such damage. Suddenly, I’m questioning everything, my life choices, my flirty playboy ways, my career… nothing seems good enough anymore.
his book was so unlike anything I’ve ever read and I really enjoyed it. I love an fmc who’s a badass, and our girl Cat was the start of this show! I also really loved Matteo but he didn’t stick out that much to me unfortunately. The plot was amazing though, from when they first see each other again after 4 years to the moment they have a sweet ending. It is filled with intense plot twists that I never would have seen coming, and they shook me to the core. Also beware… Sienna Cross loves playing with emotions, you’re guaranteed a couple of tears shed on this one. Usually I second chance romances were they have a very complicated history, and I love reading the flashbacks. But for this, I wish we had a few more of those because we still don’t know that much about their summer together. But apart from that the plot really was great. She’s supposed to assassinate him and the tension from that, the strong hate to love component, and the wounds of their past make up their amazing romance. Cat and Matteo have amazing chemistry for sure, and Matteo truly would do anything for her! This book was a fun read. If you love some mafia romance then this is a great option! I give this a 4/5
Thanks to Grey’s Promotions for providing the eARC. This is my honest opinion.
A Wicked Kind of Temptation
Some books don’t flirt, they strike. ‘Wicked Devil’ by Sienna Cross opens with a pulse of danger and keeps that beat steady, turning every chapter into a dare you do not want to refuse.
The story leans hard into that delicious push and pull between control and surrender. The love interest carries that wicked energy in a way that feels equal parts intoxicating and unsettling, and the heroine does not simply fold. She pushes back, questions motives, and forces the tension to earn its place. That dynamic is where this book shines most: not just in the heat, but in the psychological edging underneath it, where attraction becomes a battlefield and every glance feels like a negotiation.
Pacing wise, this one reads fast. Chapters end at the right moments to keep momentum high, and the author knows how to stack scenes so the tension keeps escalating rather than looping. A few plot beats land where you expect them, but the emotional charge makes up for it, especially when the story slows down just enough to let the characters’ cracks show. The writing is direct and addictive, with a confident rhythm that suits the darker tone and the devilish vibe promised by the title.
A strong four star read for when you want your romance sharp around the edges, a little reckless, and impossible to look away from.

Wicked Devil is the fourth and final book in the Ruthless Heirs series, and Matteo Rossi finally gets the spotlight he deserves.
The story picks up three months after the explosive ending of Brutal Heir. Matteo—the tech genius and heir to the Gemini empire—can’t stop thinking about the girl he once loved during a summer in Sicily. Meanwhile, Catriona McKenna is grieving the loss of her fiancé… and she knows exactly who’s responsible. She’s given 24 hours to kill the Rossi heir, the same boy who once stole her heart.
Hurt, betrayal, and unfinished business collide as old feelings resurface. But as secrets unravel and truth bombs drop, the question becomes: can their love survive the wreckage of their past?
I loved watching their story unfold. The twists had me emotional, the reveals had me relieved, and the found‑family moments added so much warmth to the darkness. I’m sad this series is over, but so happy Matteo and Catriona got the ending they deserved.
If you love dark mafia romance, enemies to lovers, second chance, touch-her-and-die energy, and found family, this finale delivers.
Please check the trigger warnings—some scenes may be uncomfortable for certain readers. But if you can handle the darker themes, Wicked Devil absolutely belongs on your TBR.
Matteo and Caitriona "Cat" shared some really beautiful moments in wonderful Sicilia for a bit, but the real life they lived in was a cruel one, which made it impossible to continue being together. Or at least that's what Matteo thought it would be better for Cat's future. Now, Matteo has to defend against the girl he left behind, because she was sent to revenge her fiancé's death. But can Cat leave her feelings aside and finish the job she was trained to do?
I was instantly captivated by the mystery behind the girl who was searching for revenge and who kept on hesitating in completing her mission. It was a complicating task for her and that lead to more problems, because her own family gave her a deadline regarding this issue. And everything that came after was super nerve-wracking, having tons of suspense and many uncertain situations. I really liked that strange tension between Cat and Matteo, not knowing from the start what they shared before getting in that situation. Discovering their story was something I craved for even from the beginning, being super curious about what they shared and why they ended up in that complicated situation they were in.
I loved that I had such a wonderful experience with my first book read by Sienna, loving the way she knew how to mesmerize me with this intense story. I was instantly immersed into this book, being constantly surprised with each reveal that was made throughout this story. An amazing mafia romance which will definitely keep you captivated.
Thank you so much for accepting me for this e-ARC, Grey Promotions and Sienna Cross. Always super grateful for these opportunities.

Although this is the fourth book in a series, it was easy enough to follow without having read the earlier instalments. The previous couples are clearly identifiable, and their connections to the main characters make sense without requiring backstory.
The story follows a second‑chance romance built on a holiday fling from when the characters were eighteen. They fall in love under the Italian sun, she becomes pregnant, and he promises to take care of her. That is, until he’s shot and decides he must leave her to “keep her safe.” The problem is that this logic doesn’t hold up, because she’s Irish mafia and he’s Italian, so danger is already baked into their lives. His disappearance devastates her, and she throws herself into the Irish mafia world, training as an assassin with her brother. Four years later, she’s sent to kill Matteo as revenge for the death of her arranged fiancé, and this mission brings them face‑to‑face again.
From there, the plot becomes increasingly dramatic: she can’t bring herself to kill him, they both hide the truth from their families, and they end up on the run together.
For all the twists, I never truly felt their love. Most of the emotional foundation is told through flashbacks to their teenage holiday romance, and the present‑day relationship doesn’t build enough depth to justify the intensity of their choices. Some of the plot beats felt over‑the‑top or unconvincing, and the sex scenes didn’t add much.
Overall, this was an easy, enjoyable read, but landed firmly in the “okay but nothing special” category for me. It was readable, occasionally dramatic, but ultimately not something I’ll remember in a few weeks time. That said, this is the first time I've read anything from this author, and I would definitely read more from her in the future. And I am intrigued to read the other character's stories.
*Thank you to the author and Grey's Promotions for an ARC of this title.
Wicked Devil is a fast-paced, addictive dark mafia romance filled with danger, tension, and a powerful second-chance love story.
Matteo Rossi, heir to the powerful Gemini empire, is used to living with a target on his back. But when a masked assassin with striking blue eyes repeatedly attempts to kill him, something about her feels hauntingly familiar. When the truth is revealed, Matteo comes face to face with Caitriona “Cat” McKenna—the woman he once loved and left behind.
Cat has been sent to New York with a mission to eliminate Matteo as revenge for the past, but the deeper she gets, the harder it becomes to pull the trigger. Their shared history, lingering feelings, and unresolved heartbreak make every encounter charged with emotion and tension.
Told through glimpses of their past and present, the story builds a gripping mix of suspense, action, betrayal, and romance. Matteo and Cat’s relationship is full of push and pull as they navigate danger, trust, and the undeniable connection that still exists between them.
With strong chemistry, emotional depth, and plenty of twists, Wicked Devil is a compelling read for fans of dark mafia romance, enemies-to-lovers tension, and second-chance love.
Thanks to Grey’s Promotions and Sienna Cross for letting me read this ARC! I have left my honest opinion.
I don’t know how to feel about this book. The storyline was great, but I could NOT connect to anything in this book. I’m usually fully invested in a book while reading, but not with this one.
I’m giving it 3.25 stars because the story itself was really good, and I think that not liking the book was a me-problem. And, also, it felt as if this book could be 100 pages less, but let’s get into it.
I really liked how Cat was hired to kill Matteo, while she knew damn well what their history was. Matteo didn’t, and it took him some time to figure it out (like any other man lol). The way they went from wanting to kill the other to wanting to be together to going back to the killing was so fun to read (and it also gave me whiplash lol).
And UGH, I’m such a sucker for a Mafia-type-of-guy with a secret heart. He would burn the world down for Cat, and I love that for her. That’s exactly what she deserves.
Without spoiling anything: this story was great, the ending was everything this book needed, and I almost had to swipe away a stray tear, almost. I would recommend this book if you want a simple dark romance, but I’m not entirely sure if I want to read a future part 2, to be honest.
I still want to thank Sienna Cross for letting me read this!
As the heir and tech genius to the Gemini Empire, Matteo is used to having enemies coming for their pound of flesh, but when a masked assassin catches him off-guard in his office, it throws him for a loop. Although her identity remains hidden, her appearance sends him into a spiral, bringing up memories of a summer he swore to leave behind, but hasn’t been able to forget. When repeated encounters with his blonde nemesis escalate, finally putting his loved ones at risk, he tries to catch her, only to see a ghost of his past brought to life. Now he’s torn between loyalty to his family, and a chance to keep the promise he broke long ago.
Caitríona was sent to New York by her family to end Matteo as revenge for the death of her fiancé, but every time she’s gotten close, she hesitates, unable to forget her first love, despite how he left her four years ago. When her family gives her 24 hours to finish the job or find herself on the wrong side of a gun, she has to make her move or run forever. When Matteo finally sees her face and realizes who has been chasing him, instead of retaliating, he offers to help. Now she needs to decide whether she can trust him now when she couldn’t back then, and whether letting him help will be worth the risk that he’ll ruin her all over again.
I received an early copy of this book from Greys Promotions and it was so worth the wait. Having read the preview at the end of Brutal Heir, I knew the premise of the story, but I did not expect it to hurt so much, and boy did it ever. Right from the beginning, I was waiting for Matteo to realize that Cat was the woman after him, and the flashbacks of their time in Sicily had my heart breaking right along with them. I loved how quickly Matteo realized that he had been in love with Cat all along, but although she loved him back, she also couldn’t trust that he wouldn’t abandon her again. Their past was woven into every decision they’ve made since, but some hurts are too big to forget.
Wicked Devil is a beautiful story filled with enemies to lovers, “touch her and ☠️” moments, second chances, an assassin FMC, and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book; it’s beautifully written.
Cat can’t bring herself to kill Matteo, even though he’s her target. He’s her first love, and their secret connection makes her dilemma about whether to kill him so emotionally compelling. Her inner conflict was portrayed so well.
Matteo’s dedication to keeping Cat safe, even if it means lying to his own family, was so heartwarming to read. His commitment was truly admirable.
The relationship Matteo shares with his family is lovely — they’ve got his back without hesitation, unlike Cat’s relationship with her own family, where she feels overlooked and unsupported.
My only issue with the book was the abundance of names; I found myself losing track of them at times.
This is a 3.75-star read, and I definitely recommend it.
Thank you to the author and Grey Promotion for the ARC.
From seeing more of Matteo in Ale’s book we knew he was hung up on a woman so the yearning in this book was absolutely impeccable, absolutely no notes😩
After the events of the previous book there is a score to settle and our FMC Cat comes to remove Matteo from the chess board. Cat thought this would be an easy enough task since Matteo up and left her some years ago, yes Matt I’m angry at you for this, but even though distance was between them the spark never faded. Matteo falls just as hard as he did when he first laid eyes on her and now he sees this as a chance to win back the only woman who will ever have his heart😭.
Our FMC is absolutely fierce and she is certainly not afraid to give Matteo a piece of her mind. She is protective of her heart and rightly so, and she does not make it easy for Matteo.
Matteo is obsessive and possessive of Cat, even though she does everything possible to distance herself nothing will drive him away🤭.
I don’t want to give too much away about this book but it’s fast paced with plenty of twists and turns and a couple that really packs the heat.
Thank you to greys promotions who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
I was so sad to see this whole series come to an end, but what an ending it was!
An old flame surfaces for Matteo, but not exactly in the way he would have thought. Cat, his former summer fling, has showed up into his life yet again. This time, however, she’s after him for a previous crime he committed, and she only has 24 hours to get it done. If she doesn’t? They’ll both pay.
What ensues is quite the tale. There’s this back and forth cat-and-mouse game of sorts, and then things really start to take off. Secrets are revealed.
I really enjoyed this last installment of this series, but I am eager to see what Sienna comes up with next!

Tasked with bringing down the man she once loved, assassin Caitriona McKenna finds herself face to face with a past she thought she had buried long ago. Seeing Matteo Rossi again brings back memories of the boy she once met in Italy, the one she gave her heart and soul to. And for Matteo, it is clear from the get go that the love never stopped. Not for a second.
Okay…who is cutting onions around here? WHO??? Cause there’s way I cried as embarrassingly as I did while reading this book.
I genuinely think this book broke me in the best way possible. Ever since the ending of Brutal Heir, I have been patiently waiting for Matteo and Caitriona’s story and finally getting it felt like emotional whiplash. These two were everything I could ever want and more. Just constantly pulled toward each other like gravity was enough to send me. No matter how much distance, betrayal, or chaos stood between them, they kept finding their way back and this couple was the absolute definition of ride or die
“It’s raw and tender, and it’s every apology we don’t know how to say out loud.”
Going into this, I knew Matteo had a reputation. Playboy extraordinaire, charming, a little too smooth for his own good…so I fully expected to struggle with that side of him. But what really surprised me was how much of himself he had been compartmentalizing all along. Underneath that reputation was a man who had never truly moved on from the woman he loved. I loved how open he was about his feelings, how he didn’t dance around them once things started coming to the surface. And despite the fierce loyalty he has to his family, he was willing to go even further for the woman he lost. My man is a Rossi through and through!
And Caitriona…my heart absolutely bled for her. She’s standing at this impossible crossroads between loyalty to the family she was raised in and the boy who once captured her heart. Even when she’s angry at Matteo, even when she tries to push him away, you can still see how much she wants to protect him. The emotional push and pull between them was intense and so painful to read at times. She was a warrior queen and I will not hear a single bad thing about her, I’m literally willing to go to war for this girl (as did Matteo).
“Outside, the rain keeps writing the same story. Inside, we pretend we don’t know how it ends.”
Sienna honestly outdid herself with this one, I would go as far as saying this might be her best writing yet! The emotions felt so raw and real, the stakes were so high with danger looming around every corner. And what I loved the most was how in tune everyone was with their emotions. Ale and Matteo shared such a bond and I adored that these hardened men feel deeply and aren’t afraid to say “I love you” to the people who matter to them.
And of course the cousin crew still owns my heart, body, soul, everything I have to give at this point. Over the last three books I’ve fallen completely in love with this cousin crew, and this book really drove home just how much they mean to each other. Seeing Rory and Alessandro thriving made me ridiculously happy. It feels like just yesterday I was rooting for them and now we’re seeing them living their happily ever after. And not to mention, I was literally in tears during chapter 42 cause they’re such a tight-knit group and it was so endearing seeing them all come together again. Finding their own happily ever afters hasn’t pulled them apart at all, if anything it’s made their village even stronger.
“You’re allowed to be real with me.”
This book felt like an action movie with feelings. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time…like seriously. But the softer moments were just as captivating cause it really hit home what second chances should feel like. It wasn’t easy or neat. The past didn’t just magically disappear. But every moment was worth it.
Sienna absolutely killed it with this one. I really cannot stop raving about it (apologies for the long review). And honestly? I am so not ready to say goodbye to this universe. I’m crossing my fingers and praying we somehow get an epilogue novella or something because I am not emotionally prepared to let these characters go. But I’m so happy to have been a part of the journey thus far and can’t wait to see Sienna’s next masterpiece.
This was my first read of author Sienna Cross and it won’t be my last! Wicked Devil was action packed from page one until the very last page, I could not put it down. Matteo Rossi, our mafia MMC is the heir to the Gemini Empire. He is used to always having a target on his back however when a masked assassin with beautiful blue eyes tries to shoot him in his office that throws him off guard. Even though her identity remained hidden, just her sheer appearance stirred up old memories from when he was nineteen and spent the summer in Italy, leaving behind the love of his life. The one girl he has had a hard time forgetting, but it couldn’t be her. He walked away from her to keep her safe from the dangerous life that he lives and give her a chance at a normal life, not one where she was always looking over her shoulder. After the masked assassin makes multiple attempts on his life, he decides that he is going to catch her, he can’t risk putting his loved ones in the cross fire. He finally catches her and tears the mask off to be met with none other than the love of his life, Caitriona McKenna.
Caitriona has been sent to New York by her family to end Matteo, the guy that she never got over, as an act of revenge for the death of her fiancé, a fiancé that she never had true feelings for. She tries three times, three times she comes close. She hesitates and misses each time. Unable to forget her first love, despite the fact that he left her four years ago without an explanation. Her family has given her a 24 hours deadline or else her brother will be sent to finish the job and her brother doesn’t hesitate or miss. When Matteo finally finds out who the blue eyes belong to behind the mask, instead of retailing he decides he is going to help her.
There was a lot of push and pull between Matteo and Cait’s relationship, you can tell they still love each other so much but the problem is Cait is afraid to trust him again with her heart. He walked away and she never stopped loving him. The flashbacks of their time in Sicily and how they fell really pulled at your heart strings, you saw how much he loved her and how much he didn’t want to walk away but he was doing it because he thought that he was doing the right thing, he never stopped loving her and she never stopped loving him. This book had it all: mafia action, suspense, betrayal, love. You will swoon, you will laugh a little and it will pull at your heart strings and you will fall so in love with Matteo and Cait’s relationship and the wild roller coaster ride to them finding each other again while bullets are flying all around them. Wicked Devil releasing on Tuesday, March 10 and if it is not at the top of your TBR list it needs to be! Thank you to author Sienna Cross and Grey’s Promotion for the opportunity to read this eARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you to the Sienna Cross and Grey’s Promotions for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
One of my favorite reading experiences is accidentally discovering a series out of order and still becoming completely invested in the story. Wicked Devil by Sienna Cross was exactly that experience for me. Even though this book is part of a larger series, it stands firmly on its own while still making me curious enough to go back and read the earlier installments.
Matteo and Caitríona’s story is built on a foundation of complicated history, unresolved feelings, and dangerous circumstances. Caitríona arrives in New York with one goal: revenge. Matteo, the heir and tech genius of the Gemini Empire, never expected the masked assassin targeting him to be connected to a past he’s never fully escaped.
What unfolds is a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic that keeps you guessing. The story constantly balances danger, emotional tension, and moments where the past forces both characters to confront what they once meant to each other.
One of the strongest aspects of the book is the emotional layer beneath the action. Beneath the power struggles, intrigue, and high-stakes tension lies a deeply personal story about loyalty, sacrifice, and the difficulty of choosing love when trust has been broken before.
The push-and-pull between Matteo and Cat works particularly well. Their chemistry is undeniable, but what makes the story compelling is the way Cat refuses to simply fall back into old patterns. She questions Matteo, pushes back against him, and forces him to prove that the man he is now is different from the one who hurt her years ago.
Another element I really enjoyed was the family dynamic, especially Matteo’s relationship with his cousins. Their loyalty and connection add depth to the story and create a sense of community within the larger series. It’s clear that these relationships shape many of Matteo’s decisions and give the world of the story a stronger emotional foundation.
The pacing also works in the book’s favor. Chapters end at just the right moments to keep the momentum high, and the tension continues to build throughout the story. Even when some plot beats land where you might expect them, the emotional weight behind those moments makes them satisfying.
Overall, Wicked Devil is an addictive mafia romance that blends danger, emotional intensity, and second-chance romance in a way that keeps the pages turning. For readers who enjoy enemies-to-lovers dynamics, complicated pasts, and stories where love and loyalty are constantly tested, this one is definitely worth picking up.

So the verdict is in: Sienna does it again. This is the fourth book of hers that I’ve not only received as an ARC but also had the chance to read, and every single time she reminds me why I love mafia romance. I’ve always been drawn to mafia books—no matter the trope (except love triangles, that’s a definite no)—and Sienna’s writing, her worlds, and the way she builds these stories are absolutely phenomenal. Every time I think the next book won’t hit as hard as the last, she proves me wrong. Like this one, for example. I said her last book was the best… I lied. This one is the best. Or honestly, they all are, lol.
What I especially love is not just how well she writes, but how unexpected her stories are. The way she ends her books always leaves me thinking I know what’s coming next, only for her to completely flip the script. This book had that exact moment, and I’m thrilled it did. That plot twist? Major.
Starting with the book itself—it’s absolutely good. It’s plot‑driven, it has spice, but it also has action and momentum. You never feel like it’s dragging or rushing; the pacing is just right. And the action? I loved it. In a good mafia romance, the romance should be amazing, yes, but there should also be danger, tension, and that adrenaline‑filled drive. This book delivers all of that.
Now Matteo and Cat… where do I even begin? These two are the definition of right person, wrong moment—star‑crossed lovers who, no matter what path they take, always find their way back to each other. They have a real backstory, and Sienna does such a great job taking us back and letting us understand how they met and who they are. Some might think it starts as insta‑love, but it absolutely does not. There’s history there, and once you see it, you’ll understand these characters completely.
There’s yearning—phenomenal yearning. There’s an enemies‑to‑lovers vibe (I mean, she is literally trying to kill him). And I love a man who knows when he’s wrong and will do whatever it takes to protect what’s his.
That secret at the end? I did not see it coming. Even with the preview Sienna gave us in the last book, even with how this one starts—I was like, wait, what is happening? And that’s a good thing. Mafia romance can sometimes get predictable, but not here.
If you love a good mafia romance with plot, action, spice that will make you blush, found family, a badass FMC who’s an assassin, a man who yearns, and a plot twist that will leave you in shambles—this is it.
WICKED DEVIL is the fourth and final instalment in Sienna Cross’ contemporary, adult RUTHLESS HEIRS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is twenty-three year old, IT tech genius and reluctant heir to the Rossi Italian Crime Family Matteo Rossi, and Caitriona McKenna, daughter of Irish mobster Seamus McKenna. WICKED DEVIL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Matteo and Caitriona) using present day and memories from the past, WICKED DEVIL follows Caitriona McKenna as she has been ordered to take down the man she once loved. Approximately four years earlier, Matteo Rossi and Catriona McKenna had fallen in love but Matteo Rossi walked out of Caitriona’s life, leaving our heroine a shell of her former self. Fast forward to present day, a gun fight ends the life of someone close to the McKenna family, and our heroine is forced to obey her father’s command-kill Matteo Rossi, or forfeit your own life.
The world building focuses on vengeance, and Caitriona is warned that if she refuses to obey, she will not be coming home.As the Rossi family circles the proverbial wagons, Matteo will discover there is more to the woman he continues to love than he could have ever imagined.
The relationship between Matteo and Caitriona is one of second chances as Matteo is determined to reclaim the woman whose heart he destroyed. Caitriona struggles to forgive and forget in the wake of losing everything she loved. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful, dangerous and determined secondary and supporting characters including Matteo Rossi’s large extended family of siblings and cousins, co-workers, and friends, as well as Caitriona’s questionable McKenna Crime Family. The requisite evil has many faces-not everyone will survive.
WICKED DEVIL is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, dysfunctional family dynamics, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is dark, dramatic and edgy with a bit of a twist I suspected early on. The second chance romance is emotional and heart breaking; the characters are desperate and determined.
This is the fourth and final book in the Ruthless Heirs series. In Wicked Devil, Matteo Rossi is Gemini’s hacker. He is really good at building security for the family. He does everything for his family including killing their enemies. He has been keeping a secret from everyone in his family. Years ago he met a woman, Cat, and fell in love. Sadly he left her and never told anyone. He did not even tell his cousin, and he tells him everything. When someone takes a shot at him, he goes after the assassin only to find out it’s the love of his life. Now he must keep another secret. He refuses to let his family know who tried to kill him. Matteo is determined to keep her alive and this time he’s not letting her go because the last secret he is hiding is why he left her.
Caitriona loved Matteo but when he left her, he broke something inside her. Her family turned her into an assassin. They show her how to kill and disappear without leaving a trace. Now they send her to kill Matteo. It should be easy because she hates him. However, the moment she lays eyes on him, visions of them on a beach come back to her. Every time she tries to kill him, she is reminded of their time together. The moment they are face-to-face, she can’t pull the trigger. The bad thing is her family now knows she missed and if she doesn’t deal with that in 24 hours, her brother will kill Matteo. She just wants him to stay alive. What will happen when she finds out why Matteo left her?
Sienna Cross had me feeling bad for both of them. This whole time Cat thought Matteo didn’t love her only to find out he was trying to protect her. Her constant fear of thinking he could die at any moment. His guilt over losing the love of his life and also not telling anyone in his family was sad. Him trying to figure it out on his own, doing things behind their back felt lie a betrayal. The chemistry was definitely there. I loved their scenes together, even when they were arguing. Their constant running had me on the edge of my seat. I was scared for both of them, but I was also rooting for them. When truths were revealed, it was definitely an emotional roller coaster. It was filled with drama, angst, danger, secrets, suspense, action, heart breaking moments and shocking twists. I enjoyed the series so much. I will always remember these characters, the couples, the parents, and the cousin crew.
Be still my beating heart, I have been waiting patiently for Cat and Matteo's story and I sure wasn't disappointed, Sienna Cross had me a blubbering, emotional wreck, but I couldn't stop turning the pages. Caitriona (Cat) McKenna had been trained by her brother Donal, to be an assassin, she was good, and she became known as "The Angel of Death" but Cat's latest target didn't sit well, she and Matteo Rossi had history, history of wonderful days in the sun in beautiful Taormina, they had given everything to each other but just when she needed him most, Matteo had left , Cat returned to her native Ireland and her ruthless mafia family and Matteo returned to his wealthy, close knit Italian family in Manhattan. Nico Rossi, Matteo's powerful father, was head of the, Gemini Empire crime syndicate, the Rossi and Valentinos were very close families who would walk over hot coals for one another, the younger members were known as The Cousin Crew. Matteo was in his office at the Velvet Vault nightclub, facing a stunning masked female, a female with a gun pointing at him, a female who has somehow breached the strict club security, a female who's beautiful eyes looked familiar. Matteo knew that he could overpower her but something stopped him, Cat had him in her sights but knew that she couldn't pull the trigger on the man who had been her gentle first love, but Cat knew that Matteo had to die or her younger sister would pay the price. This is the story of Cat and Matteo's treacherous journey as Cat feels pressure from her family, she knows that they will show her no mercy if she fails. Matteo is instructed by his family to track down and eliminate the assassin who almost shot older brother Alessandro's much loved, pregnant wife. This is a beautifully told love story saturated with danger, fast action and a renewed. all consuming love tumbling from the pages as Cat and Matteo try, against all odds, to find a way forward. I love Matteo's family and the cousin crew, they are ruthless with their enemies but they love with a passion, once accepted into the family they will protect you with their lives. A well deserve five stars. Thank you Gray Publishing and Net Gallery for this ARC, my review is totally voluntary.
Wicked Devil by Sienna Cross is a fast‑paced, addictive read that delivers suspense, emotion, and a compelling second‑chance Mafia romance.
This is the fourth and final book in the Ruthless Heirs series, and from the opening scenes it pulls you straight in and keeps you guessing. At the centre of the story are Matteo and Cat. These are two characters that are shaped by their past and driven by betrayal, revenge, and unresolved feelings.
Matteo is the cocky, charming heir to his family’s legacy and the head of technology and security for Gemini Corporation. Cat, once soft and innocent, is now a cold and deadly assassin known as The Angel of Death, sent to eliminate Matteo for what he did years ago.
The problem with this plan, is they have a past. The narrative switches at times, between past and present so we get to see glimpses of the summer they spent together. Matteo, struggles to understand how she became who is she is today.
Cat comes face to face with Matteo after so long and she hesitates. All the long buried feelings come rushing back and she doesn’t know if she can go through with the plan.
After several failed attempts, Cat is warned that someone else is coming to clean up her mess, forcing an uneasy alliance between her and Matteo. From this point on, the suspense ramps up significantly. The twists keep coming, and I found myself genuinely on edge as the stakes continued to rise.
While I struggled slightly with Matteo’s decision to completely ghost his family, especially given his position and how strongly their family bonds are portrayed, I still appreciated the sentiment and the emotional depth of those relationships. His family’s loyalty and willingness to rally around each other was one of my favourite aspects of the story, which made that choice stand out even more.
The re‑development of Matteo and Cat’s relationship was emotional and heartfelt, filled with tension, regret, and growth. Their journey together added real weight to the story and balanced the action beautifully.
Overall, Wicked Devil is a gripping, twist‑filled romance that will keep you turning pages. It’s a great choice for fans of second‑chance Mafia romance who enjoy high stakes, strong emotions, and complex characters.
Wicked Devil is the final instalment in Sienna Cross’s Ruthless Heirs series and it delivers everything you want from a dark, high-stakes finale. Twisted, emotional and completely consuming, it leans hard into the second-chance romance but this one is wrapped in revenge and long-buried truths.
Matteo Rossi has always been the quieter, sharper mind of the Gemini, more comfortable behind a screen than in the chaos of their world. But there is nothing soft about him when it comes to Caitríona. He carries the weight of their shared past and the way he is willing to burn everything down to protect her gives him that deliciously dangerous edge.
Caitríona McKenna is just as compelling. Driven by grief, loyalty and fear, she comes in ready to pull the trigger but their past refuses to stay buried. Her inner conflict is written so well. You can feel her hesitation, every crack in her resolve as the truth begins to unravel. She is strong but not untouched by what they once had and that tension makes her impossible to look away from.
What really stood out is their shared history. This isn't just any enemies to lovers story, it is lovers-turned-enemies, tangled up in betrayal, loss and misunderstandings that cut deep. Their every interaction is loaded with tension, every moment teetering between violence and something far more dangerous for both of them.
Their chemistry is intense and leans into that darker, obsessive side of them both. The spice is hot and emotionally charged, fitting perfectly with the tone of their relationship without overshadowing the story itself, it adds to the pull between them rather than distracting from it.
There are twists surrounding their time in Italy and the truth behind it that keep the tension high. While the drama is big, it never loses sight of the emotional core. Watching them try to piece everything together while fighting their feelings made this such an addictive read.
Wicked Devil is a fitting and satisfying end to the Ruthless Heirs series. If you love morally grey heroes, fierce heroines and a romance built on pain, passion and second chances, this one will absolutely pull you in and refuse to let go.
That really hurt. The emotional damage this book did is too much😭❤️🩹
I have a love-and-hate(the good kind of course) relationship with this book. Love because of its uniqueness and the plot development which was intriguing and captivating. Hate because those freaking few chapters before HEA fecking ripped my heart out. They fucking destroyed me😭.
I knew that the peace toward the end was too good to be true..and the emotional damage it did totally wrecked me. I had to summon all the strength I could to get finish this book because I was so damn broken...but I wanted to finish it,,i needed to...
Because not every day does a book starts with the FMC pointing a gun to the MMC. I needed the start and the end tea. You know the curiosity once the book has your attention and you need to understand "the why/ the reason" But damn did the tea shatter me🥺(in the best way possible).
Perfect read for dark mafia lovers, enemies-to-lovers trope enthuasists, and badass FMC lovers.
🏵𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: • Dark Mafia Romance • She's an Assassin • He's Mafia Heir • Second Chance Romance • Hired to off him • Enemies to Lovers • Secret Child • Found Family
The final book in the Ruthless Heirs series that focuses on the next generation of the Kings of Temptation and Wicked Devil follows Matteo Rossi, heir to the Gemini twins. Unlike the others, Matteo isn’t known for his brute force. Instead, he’s the strategist, the mastermind, a man whose weapon is his mind and whose keyboard can be just as deadly as any gun. But beneath his calculated exterior is a man who has experienced the highs of love and the pain of loss. Years earlier, when he was only eighteen, he fell deeply in love with Caitriona McKenna during one unforgettable summer. But to protect her, he made the painful decision to walk away. Now Cat is back in his life, but things are very different. She no longer sees Matteo as the boy she once loved, she only sees the man she believes is responsible for her fiancé’s death. It doesn’t matter that the engagement was an arrangement between their families; Cat wants revenge, and as an assassin for her Irish mafia family, she fully intends to get it.
This dark, gritty, and emotionally intense story delivers a thrilling and suspenseful cat-and-mouse story packed with action and powerful family dynamics. The relationships and friendships throughout the story add depth, while Cat proves to be just as fierce and formidable as Matteo, if not more so. Their story dives deep into loyalty, secrets, heartbreak, and obsession as danger closes in around them, steadily building the tension. As the story unfolds, Cat struggles with the conflict between her desire for revenge and the hatred she believes she should feel or the love she’s never truly let go of. Forced to choose between Matteo and her family, she faces an impossible dilemma all making this book a gripping and satisfying conclusion to what has been an incredible series
Wicked Devil by Sienna Cross is the fourth and final book in the Ruthless Heirs series and it ties the entire Ruthless Heirs series together with a dark, sexy, emotionally loaded finale that blends revenge, forbidden love, and second chance heartbreak into a story that feels both brutal and beautiful. Matteo Rossi is the reluctant heir with blood on his hands. Caitríona McKenna is the assassin with a broken heart and a loaded gun. The Plot is revenge, lies, and a ticking clock.
Caitríona first meet Matteo four years previously. Back then they shared an insanely hot chemistry, they were each other’s first love, but the broken promises, the lies and mis-guided beliefs tore them apart. Now Caitriona’s family have sent her to kill Matteo, believing that he murdered her fiancé. But the past refuses to stay buried, the lies, explosive chemistry, the truth Caitriona’s been denied all play into her internal conflict. Whilst Matteo must face the girl he loved and lost, the girl he broke.
There’s so much going on here at times it was difficult to keep up yet it all flowed, keeping the tension high and stakes even higher. Pressure from Caitriona’s family builds and she is given just 24hrs to complete her task, or her brother will step in. Secrets begin to unravel, and a truth starts to emerge that changes everything.
Caitriona and Matteo’s journey is far from a gentle love story, its dark and driven by revenge tension. The emotional history between them is rich, with a constant tension just waiting to explode off the page and reveals that hit hard. Whilst Caitríona’s strength makes her unforgettable, Matteo’s devotion is devastating and deeply romantic in that “I’d burn the world for you”. A great ending to a fantastic series.
What an explosive, emotional, and high-stakes conclusion to the Ruthless Heirs series. If you’ve been waiting for Matteo’s story, let me tell you: the tech genius does NOT disappoint.
The Tropes: 🥀 Second Chance / Secret Baby (with a dark twist)
🔫 Assassin Heroine vs. Tech Genius Mafia Heir
🇮🇹 Star-crossed lovers (Sicily to the Gemini Empire)
⏳ 24-Hour "Kill or be Killed" Ultimatum
⛓️ "Touch her and you die" energy
🖤 Found Family
The Plot: Matteo and Catriona’s love began at eighteen under the Sicilian sun. It ended in broken promises, a secret pregnancy, and a devastating abandonment. Matteo thought leaving Cat would protect her from his world—instead, it threw her right into the center of it.
Four years later, Catriona McKenna isn't the girl he left behind. She’s an assassin grieving her fiancé and she’s just been given a brutal order: Kill Matteo Rossi in 24 hours, or her brother will be sent to finish both of them.
The cat-and-mouse game that follows is dripping with tension. Seeing him again brings every buried feeling to the surface, and as the clock ticks down, Cat has to decide if she can trust the man who once shattered her heart.
Why I Loved It: I’m so sad this series is over, but Matteo and Catriona got the ending they truly deserved.
The Tension: The "enemies-to-lovers" vibe is top-tier. Cat makes Matteo work for every single inch of her forgiveness.
The Emotion: The truth bombs and reveals had me reeling, but the found-family moments provided the perfect warmth against the dark mafia backdrop.
The Hero: Matteo never stopped loving her, and watching him fight for his second chance made him my favorite Rossi heir.
⚠️ Note: Please check trigger warnings, as this is a dark romance with some heavy themes. But if you can handle the "wicked" side of the mafia, this is a must-read finale!
🌟🌟🌟🌟.5/5 I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Greys Promotions and Sienna Cross!
~ Tropes ~ 🔥Mafia Romance 🔥Second Chance 🔥Touch Her and Die 🔥First Love 🔥Lovers to Enemies to Lovers
~ Review ~ Oh man how I’ve missed a mafia romance! Mafia romances are my favorite genre ever! We have Matteo and Caitriona who are first loves. They met MANY years ago and fell in love and had a beautiful summer. Matteo being part of the Italian Mafia, had to go fulfill his role and break all the promises he ever made to Cat. Cat, whose family is part of the Irish mafia was WRECKED when he left her not only heart broken but with a little reminder of their tryst. She has spent years fortifying her heart and her body. Now an assassin, she is sent to target Matteo after he is responsible for the death of her fiancé (they were a business engagement so not really pressed ab this nor is Cat tbh). She is expected to take him out by her fiancé’s father but every time she can, Cat seems to hesitate. After being given a deadline by her fiancé‘s father, she decides to flee as she can be the one responsible from Matteo’s death and is evading her own. Matteo sees this as a chance to not only help her, but to work his way back into his heart. He has seen his cousins fall in love, and all get married while he has never forgotten, Cat and what she meant to him, and if he were to have had a family, it would’ve always been with her and only her. I was honestly in such a slump and this book got me out some forever grateful. A mafia romance will always do that for me and and I’m so excited to read more from Sienna
This is the fourth book in the Ruthless Heirs series. I’m enjoying this series and this author because every book is not an arranged marriage which is usually the main trope in a mafia book. In this book we have Cat who was sent to eliminate Matteo. Matteo killed her fiancé and to retaliate she must kill him. Now this should be an easy task for the Angel of Death, but Cat has a history with Matteo. They met when she was almost twenty and they fell in love and had a relationship but Matteo broke it off with no explanation other than he wasn’t ready. Poor Cat was devastated and now she is being tasked with killing him. Although she has several opportunities she is unable to complete the task and now her brother has been sent to kill him. Since she didn’t do what was required her family is extremely upset with her. To make matters worse while attempting to kill him she also shot Matteo’s cousins wife. So now his cousin Alessandro is trying to find her to kill her for almost killing his wife. With assassins on both sides hunting Matteo and Cat, these two have to deal with their feelings for each other. Neither Cat nor Matteo have been able to move on and find love, in fact Matteo is extremely jealous of all his cousins finding love and having children. This was such a great story. I’m a sucker for a second chance love story. As we learn about their history, told in flashbacks from both their perspectives you want these two to find their way back to each other. Great characters, (I especially loved Cat she was such a badass) and an amazing plot, with some nice spice too.
I was hooked on this book. I was immediately pulled in and invested in their story. This would have been a 5⭐️ for me, but there was one thing that bothered me. Slight spoiler and that thing was that he doesn't ask about his kid until the last half of the book. I understand that he didn't want to pressure the FMC but the first words out of my mouth would be How's our kid. Other than that I really like this book.
Cat is an a$$a$$in for her family. Her fiancée has been k!//3d and his father is demanding justice for his son. So they send Cat to eliminate the person who k!//3d him. That person ends up being Cats first love Matteo. They didn't end on the best of terms. They made so many promises to each other but in the end Matteo breaks them. But no matter how much Matteo hurt her she can't bring herself to be the one to end him. Because she can't finish the job that puts her in her family's crosshairs. Can she find a way to move on with Matteo and survive the danger coming her way? Matteo is the Gemini heir. Years ago he meet the love of his life and let her go. It's one of his biggest regrets. Years later someone takes a shot at him and that person was Cat. He can't believe the Cat he knew has turned into this new version of her. He knows he should tell his family he knows who the a$$a$$in is but he still cares for her. Things get even more dangerous when Cat can't finish the job and he wants to find a way both of them survive. He will do anything to make that their reality and hopefully after things settle he can find a way to get her to give him a second chance.
Thank you Grey's Promotions and Sienna Cross for gifting me the last book in the Ruthless Heirs series. I loved Matteo in Brutal Heir and was so excited to read about him and see him fall in love. Unfortunately, I think my expectations for this book were a bit too high. While I did love this book, it did not stand out to me like Brutal Heir is.
I love Cat. Like I love a badass fmc and she is literally the embodiment of that. She was pushed into a role that she took on and delivered amazing results. Unfortunately, the only person that she cannot kill is that of her former love, Matteo (who leaves her when they are 18 because he doesn't want her to know about his world). Oh my boy, never give up love for something like that because fate is a funny thing.
The book felt very repetitive to me. I loved the cat & mouse game and I wish we could have gotten more scenes where they are chasing each other (her trying to kill him and he trying to figure out who she is). I just felt like they kept saying the same thing in different wording for the first half of the book and it made me take longer to read bcause i felt like the story wasn't progressing. BUT once the action started, oh boy, I could not put it down! I hated that Matteo had to hide from his family because I love the bond he has with them. And while I understand, I wish we would have had more scenes of the cousin crew.
Overall, it was a good ending to a great series. I just wish it was less repetitive and more action pack with more banter.
