What can I say.. this book read like it was written by AI. It was awful and I honestly didn't want to finish it but am against not reading till the end. There was absolutely no consistency, it jumped all over the place, there is no sense of time or place, storylines didn't match up. For some reason we have to know what everything smells like and the same description for everything is used over and over again. This was a very hard read to get through and just left me confused and frustrated. I got this free from Amazon and glad I didn't waste my money.

🌙 Book Review: Lilies at Dawn Rossi Dark Romance

Author: Vivien Thorne
Genre: Dark Romance | Mafia Romance | Suspense

Lilies at Dawn is the kind of dark romance that pulls you in with whispers of danger, forbidden desire, and family power struggles. From the very first page, the Rossi world sets itself apart an empire built on loyalty, blood, and betrayal.

The story follows Isabella, a woman raised to be a pawn, who is forced into an arranged marriage with Matteo, the dangerous Rossi heir. Their relationship is as intoxicating as it is destructive filled with moments where love and hate blur, leaving you unsure if redemption is even possible.

What I loved most is how the book balances intensity with vulnerability. The author doesn’t shy away from the darker edges of romance, yet the emotional depth gives the story weight beyond just passion and power. The chemistry between Isabella and Matteo is undeniable fiery, raw, and sometimes unsettling but it makes sense in this world where every choice comes with consequences.

The pacing is tight, the writing atmospheric, and the tension never lets up. Some scenes will test your comfort zone, but if you enjoy mafia/dark romance tropes, you’ll likely devour this in one sitting.

Highlights

> A powerful, brooding hero (Matteo) with secrets
>A heroine (Isabella) who learns strength in her own survival
> Mafia family intrigue and betrayal
> Tension-filled romance that keeps you on edge

Final Thoughts

Lilies at Dawn is not a lighthearted love story—it’s messy, passionate, and shadowed by danger. If you’re drawn to mafia romances where love is as much a risk as a reward, this first installment in the Rossi Dark Romance series is a strong start. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book to see where this dangerous journey leads.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely for fans of dark, forbidden romances that dare to cross lines.

DNF

What is even happening in this book? I feel like every scene started in the middle. Characters kept showing up with no introductions, but then it was like we should already know their whole life story. I swear I just read a character introducing himself to the fmc then a couple chapters later they’ve known each other for years… what?

I started skipping around after a few chapters but eventually just gave up completely around 45%. I checked the Amazon reviews and someone suggested this is ai, which now makes a lot more sense.

The story happens too fast and is too choppy. I felt like I had to reread the ending of a chapter to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. The flow is off. I like the premise and the characters but some of them seem to have no purpose at all.

Did not like.

This story does not flow well and has no consistency. Some of the characters' actions do not make sense. I will not be reading the rest if this series.
