This book was a recommendation from a friend & I’m so glad I gave it a read. It’s definitely a fun concept for a seasonal read because sometimes, a little bit of demon smut is necessary at Christmas 🤭
It’s a case of a gift exchange gone wrong (or right, depending on how you look at it) when Moira ends up with a family heirloom of her ex. Pair that with a bit of his 🩸 (from her throwing said book at him) & some late night reading… then poof: two demons appear in the bedroom & you can guess where things go from there 😉.
It’s short, sweet & smutty & overall a nice spicy distraction from the busy holiday season. I recommend you take a little look if you like a bit of MFM/MM action!

A fun and spicy dark Christmas novella. Moira was dumped by her ex two days before Christmas and unknowingly summons two demons from the spell book she got as a white elephant gift. Yule and Killian appear and decide to have some fun with her instead of unaliving her. Moira is pulled to them and they spend the night together, leaving Moira wanting more. When the next Christmas arrives, she summons them again. Ready to join them in the underworld.

I do have to say that DeFore impressed me with her ability to craft these characters that are fully fleshed out characters in such a short period of time. It feels like she can drop us into all the action and tension and letting the head build while still giving her characters such beautiful depth and genuine emotion. DeFore’s descriptions are so vivid, atmospheric, with just the perfect amount of wicked – she’s making each and every scene come alive. Even with seductive demons and the holidays. The pacing is perfect and you never feel it let up, keeping you on your toes and breathless and you are entertained from beginning to end.
I highly recommend this fun, spicy, demon filled novella.

They Came Upon A Midnight Scream is book 1 in The Christmas Playlist series. This story was a very entertaining, short, paranormal, spicy, holiday read. Ballerina Moira was just dumped by her ex, whose family owns the ballet company she dances for. She obtained a book from the holiday exchange that her ex had apparently tossed in, not really knowing what it is. She can't stop thinking about the break up and to help take her mind off things, she picks up the book and starts reading. She can't seem to focus though. There is a line in the book that catches her attention though, and she read it aloud accidentally summoning the demon and his companion from within the book. They are only here for 24 hours and boy do they make sure to use it to their advantage.
I enjoyed this story. It was enjoyable and entertaining. After all the light, fluffy holiday reads, I needed something a little darker and this definitely hit the spot for me!

This is a paranormal…no, monster romance…wait, it’s a demon romance 🤭so make sure you’re into that before reading. Oh, and this will be a smut filled story with horns 😏so again, make sure you know what this means before reading.
This is a smut story, but don’t worry. There is an actual story here in this novella. Honestly, I am not sure how H.N.DeFore was able to fit so much into the story.
Alright, for example Moira, the FMC has a sh*t life. Like, she’s got ballet, but like garbage family and one friend who actually cares for her. She’s coming out of a garbage relationship with a dude who is not only an adult virgin, but also classis. He dumps her because she isn’t of his elk. Don’t worry, he gets what’s coming to him 😏
I tell you all this because Moira has some drama in her life that we get to see and then she also meets a demon and his companion Killian. Oh, and Killian who isn’t a true demon because he was human at one point also has his own backstory, which we learn about.
Spoiler his life also sucked. It seems if you’ve got a sh*t life the best option is to get this Yule book and summon the demon Yule because it’s just bliss after that 🤭
Now, we don’t learn too much about Yule, but we learn some lore about this book and why Yule maybe isn’t as well known as he should be. We also get kind of an explanation about the inheritance of the book, but not too much. It’s a novella after all.
There is also some primal play. It happens once in the book and it’s sorta towards the end after Moira's fight with her ex-boyfriend.
Oh, and the first time Moira meets Yule it might be a little dubious, so keep that in mind.

I instantly fell in love with our FMC, she's a fellow monster smut reader... and she's a force to be reckoned with!
The MMCs...I mean they're a both deliciously dark and gorgeous demons...with some very special little tricks up their sleeves.
You get one grumpy demon and one golden retriever demon...but they're both unhinged and obsessed with their summoner.
I mean who wouldn't want your demon boyfriends to be boyfriends ?!
These characters will have you fanning yourself... cause they're hot as H3LL together... I mean they are demons!
If you enjoy some unhinged demon MMCs for the holidays then this is a must read!

Ummm okay wow! I wasn’t sure how this novella was going to play out and signed up to ARC read this kind of blindly 😂 I expected a monster paranormal romance, but make it Christmas-y. I did NOT expect it to be like this though, and I mean that in the best way possible!
In this book you’ll find ALL THE SMUT, demons, MMF (with a little MM action), DP, choking, 🩸 play, and primal play. And let me tell you, I gobbled it up in one sitting.

All Moira really needs is to catch a break. I mean, what else can go wrong after you've had your boyfriend tell you that you're not good enough for the family, and that the relationship wasn't going anywhere because you're too career oriented. Not to mention that you might've smashed the crappy white elephant book that was gifted to you from the work Christmas party into his face.
A Christmas alone sounds like heaven. Just crappy rom-coms and a big comfy bed... Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that two beings that could've been written in one of her monster smut books would magically appear in her room, or that they would stick around... But as the trope so commonly happens in the books, "F#CK IT!"... Do demons have more fun?
This was a fun, flirty, dirty holiday novella where the boyfriends are boyfriends. Redemption is sweet, and Bigger is better in every aspect.
Take the moment by the horns, Yule will let you know what to do. Killian isn't going to let you down either 🥹

This was a fun little dark romance novella, and I’m always here for that. I’ve read novellas that are pure smut for the vibes and others that mix in solid plot, but this one felt like it wasn’t totally sure which direction it wanted to go. The characters were really interesting and we were given glimpses of their backstory, but because it is a novella, I found myself wanting more time with them.
Honestly, I’m hoping this is just the start of their story, because there’s a lot of potential here and I’d definitely come back for more of these characters if there’s more to come.

Moira never in her wildest dreams or nightmares would have expected to summon not one but two demons. Yule and Killian already share a MM relationship. The addition of Moira brings a new, fun element to their relationship.
I really liked Yule and Killian. If this was an See more images of omegaverse story, then Killian would be the beta. Because it was his first time being summoned, his enthusiasm was infectious. Yule, Killian, and Moira sure made the most of their one night together.
If you are a fan of monster romances, you will want to pick up a copy of this book. Fans of H.N, will enjoy this steamy read as well.

Call this book Doublemint cause it doubled the pleasure and doubled the fun. That white elephant gift did all it could and I loved it. The casual banter and connection between all the characters is to be applauded. It’s not easy to have a book with a multipartner relationship, especially when two people were partners first, and have it feel equal. But that’s exactly what this author did. And…merry smutmas to the reader! This was fire. I had to know what was going to happen in the time Killian and Yule had, and what would happen once that time was up. And oh my was I happy with it. I honestly need a longer book for these three. Definitely a recommended read.

What happens when you accidentally summon a demon the night after your boyfriend dumps you. For our FMC she becomes the cream in a very spicy demon sandwich. This book is short, fun, spicy, and a tiny bit dark, our FMC may be a little reluctant at first but she ends up highly satisfied. If you like monsters and are in the mood for a quick Christmas read grab this one and devour it in one sitting. This book was given to me as an ARC from twisted chaos pa and above is my honest review.

I haven’t read anything by this author before but I absolutely adores this Christmas “monster” novella. I loved Killian and Yule as our demon MMCs who end up being accidentally summoned by Miora, our lovely FMC who has to spend the holiday season after being dumped. I do love that we get a little bit of backstory of these demons and that not only do these demons provide Miora with some festive “fun”, they also prove to her that her ex wasn’t the one for her. If you are looking for a quick, fun, festive smutty read, then this one will be for you!

First off, thank you to H.N. Defore and Twisted Chaos for allowing me to read this before release <3
I loved this rendition of Yule/Yuletide and how it becomes super spicy. The fact you add in another male into the mix makes it even more hot. Our FMC is a badass and stands for her independence as well as despite any fears towards anyone, remains herself instead of cowering.
Spice is 5/5 with how much detail and images you can conjure up from each scene. <3 Definitely a smutty holiday novella to read.

OMG seriously loved this little novella. This was the perfect blend of spicy monster smut that I needed in my life and then wrap it in Christmas makes it even better. H.N. DeFore did not disappoint on this story. Yule, Killan, and Moria are the prefect group. Moria has to deal with being dumped and then dealing with the ex after she ultimately summoned Yule not knowing what she was doing. Though Yule does decide she needs a little revenge he does it in the sweetest way.

Overall the story is great. A quick, holiday read where two demons find love with the mortal ballerina who has finally decided she’s worth more than being someone’s last choice. Their relationship is sweet and the spice is spicy. However, the book has typos, it repeats information, and doesn’t always stay on track. Some things are mentioned like we should know what’s going on but it’s the first time it’s been brought up. Overall I enjoyed the book.

This is a super short fantasy romance. Moira is a ballerina that is dumped by her boyfriend right before Christmas. She's performing in a theater that her exes family the owns, the night they break up there is a white elephant gift exchange. What Moist doesn't know is that it's a spell book that will change her life forever. After a very spicy 24 hours with 2 demons, she has to decide what to do with the book and the rest of her life.

Now this was a really fun novella with plenty of spice. We start out with Moira, a ballerina dancer who had just been dumped and got a crappy White Elephant gift of a book she can’t really read. But magic finds a way and brings two hot demons Yule and Killian that get to stay for 24hrs. She definitely makes the most of her time in a very hawt way. Loved this so much for just what it was, short and spicy, with just enough plot.

Deviously spicy with a decent storyline tossed in. Moira doesn’t just unknowingly summon one demon, but two. Demons who aren’t just naughty, they’re stunningly sexy and know how to use their powers to drive you insane with pleasure. Moira has a difficult decision to make but she’s got a year to come to terms with she wants to do. Hopefully there’ll be a sequel because I’d like to read more about the demon duo and Moira. This is a good, quick read to keep you warm and toasty for the holidays!

Monster smut with a Christmas twist.....
This was a great story for a novella. The character development was well done for the shortness of the story.
I always love the banter between characters, but I definitely loved how the FMC didn't back down from the monster even though he was "big" and most cowered in front of him.
