THE GODS FLED, THE MONSTERS WON THE WAR, AND THE KEY IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND

- Dystopian Dark Fantasy Romance
- Slow Burn Series
- Love Triangle
- Multiple POV

In Seda’s world, magic lies buried, monsters roam the wilds, and failure means vanishing.

As birth rates collapse, her society tightens its grip, ensnaring those who haven’t conceived through a biannual lottery in the guise of rehabilitation. People rarely return. Seda and Cahir have survived for years by clinging to routine, obedience, and each other.

Cahir is constant, watchful, and devoted in ways Seda refuses to question. But he’s a master of secrets. When political unrest turns the city into a battlefield, Seda is taken, and everything they’ve avoided fractures.

Imprisonment awakens something primal within her. Magic long buried begins to breathe, thundering with elemental force, answering fear with power. Her escape hurls her beyond the city’s walls and into enchanted forests crawling with monsters, spirits, and truths older than the world she left behind.

Longing sharpens. Trust shatters.

And the presence weaving through Seda’s dreams is no illusion—it’s been waiting for her to wake up.

ARC Review: I really enjoyed Corvid Whispers. It was a book that I could easily pick up again. My favorite line “He was a little burnt. Next time, don’t toast for so long, please.” I sounded like a crazy person laughing at 3 AM. The slow burn is there and I love the fact that the author actually shared anger for the FML!! She needs to hit him at least once after all this. I look forward to book 2!!!!

Tropes: Dystopian , Dark Fantasy , Slow Burn

Seda (FMC) & Cahir (MMC) have the most perfect, tortuous slow burn I've read in a while. We are set a dystopian world filled with magic and corrupt systemic oppression with a prime focus on birth rates. We watch our characters navigate it all the while we the reader enjoy stunning world building and complex side characters. Don't get to attached unless you enjoy getting your heart broken. Solid story lines and truly a gift of book. Looking forward to book 2.

Thank you to BookSirens for an advanced reader copy of this book!

This was a journey! There was action, grief, tension, lots of creatures, and a great set up for the rest of the series! I liked getting multiple POVs and felt like I was watching everything play out in my head like a movie. I also liked the transition from the dystopian society to outside of the dome where we meet all the shifters and creatures! That’s where the story really picked up for me!

I look forward to seeing where this series goes because the ending left me wanting more! I can’t wait to see more of Seda’s growth as a character and her unlocking and mastering her power! I’m also looking forward to seeing more of Cahir and Seda and what happens with them. Where we left off with them the tension was palpable!

Overall, very enjoyable and I devoured it in hours!

Corvid Whispers by Dee Mannine is a fantasy, dystopian, slow burn romance, and I loved every second of reading it.
I absolutely loved the world building throughout the book. We are taken into the city of Joro where there are strict rules, political lies, and terrifying monsters threatening the dome around the city. The Wyrd, where people are chosen to go to a camp outside of the city dome for ‘rehabilitation’ if they do have a child before 30, had me absolutely hooked and wanting more as we slowly learnt about the truths.
Seda is the FMC in Corvid Whispers, she’s in her 30’s, she’s strong but also vulnerable, she has strong beliefs which makes it harder for her to come to terms with the reality of the truths but it makes her so much stronger towards the end of the book as she questions the world around her. Cahir is the MMC, he is strong, protective, loyal, and mysterious with so many secrets that he is hiding. Cahir and Seda’s relationship felt so real and emotional, although there were times where I just wanted them to kiss already, I enjoyed and understood the slow burn and the waiting.
I was also in love with the Corvids in this book, especially Roya, she was sassy and such a strong character and I hope that we learn more about them in the next book.
Elco might honestly be my favourite character in this book, his relationship with Seda almost reminds me of Fourth Wing, Tairn and Violet, platonic grumpy x sunshine. He would do absolutely anything to protect Seda even if he got hurt in the process.
Dee Mannine done so well with Corvid Whispers, the writing pulls you in from the start and the world building and character growth keeps you entranced until the very end. I will warn, do not get attached to all of the characters, or do, and go through the emotions.
Overall, I absolutely loved the book, it has so many genres and dives into so many very real issues in the real world. I loved the character growth and world building, I could not put the book down and I am so excited for the next book.
Thank you Dee Mannine for the chance to read your the ARC copy of your fabulous book.

Wow! This book was amazing. First off definitely read the content/trigger warnings because there are some dark subjects in this book.

Vibes: this book gave me Hunger Games with a splash of Game of Thrones mixed with fantasy vibes.

Feelings: It is a slow burn with a chemistry build-up between best friends Cahir and Seda. The things Seda went through when she was younger was awful but made her stronger and the part with Esper was just heartbreaking so have tissues. Also Dee is like George R.R. Martin so don't fall in love with any characters or you might have your heart broken even more. You've been warned. Happy Reading Everyone!

Corvid Whispers by Dee Mannine really surprised me in the best way. It isn’t just one type of story, it is a dystopian, fantasy, emotional, and also has romantic elements all blended together, which is what I loved the most about it. The book takes you into the city of Joro, where strict laws, terrifying monsters, and political lies control everyone’s life. The system of the Wyrd, where people are chosen if they haven’t had children by thirty, was chilling but fascinating at the same time.

The characters are the heart of this book. Seda is easy to connect with strong but vulnerable, constantly questioning the world around her. Cahir is protective, loyal, and mysterious, and their relationship has this slow burn that feels natural and emotional. Even characters like Benny and Sara make the world feel alive.

The writing pulls you right in with its mix of action, heartbreak, secrets, and moments of tenderness. The forests, monsters, and the corvids themselves give the story a dark magical feel, while the political side keeps the tension high.

Overall, it’s a multi genre story that gives you dystopia, fantasy, suspense, and romance in one. It’s not always easy to read because of the heavy themes, but it’s gripping, emotional, and memorable. I finished it already excited for the next book in the series which I hope should get released soon as I can’t wait for it!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5)
Spice: 🌶️

Corvid Whispers feels like being dropped onto a nightmare altar where the gods have peaced out, the monsters are running the show, and your entire worth is boiled down to whether you can produce a baby on schedule. It’s dark fantasy romance with a dystopian, fertility-obsessed spin that got its claws in me early and refused to let go.

We follow Seda, a thirty-something heroine living in a rigid society with plummeting birth rates, lottery-style “rehabilitation” for people over thirty who haven’t conceived, and a constant hum of fear in the background. Every six months, the clock resets and another batch is chosen. Seda and her best friend/partner Cahir have been trying for years, so the tension isn’t hypothetical; it’s breathing down their necks. The premise alone is brutal, and the added layer of this world having some modern amenities (think computers) makes it feel that much more unsettling and real. Seda is a devout, law-abiding woman who truly believes in the rhetoric fed to the masses, and it’s so satisfying to watch those beliefs fracture, crumble, and get rebuilt into something sharper.

The book does an excellent job juggling a multi-POV narrative. It starts in a centralized setting and then splinters outward as the world opens up and the stakes escalate. As a fantasy nerd, I loved watching so many plot threads move at once and constantly wondering how they’d all collide in the end. You can tell there’s a larger saga brewing, and I appreciated that the book doesn’t pretend to be a neat, standalone story—it leans into that sprawling, epic feeling.

There were portions that could use a bit of polishing and massaging of phrasing. At times, dialogue or certain points of view didn’t feel fully authentic to the character’s voice, which was slightly jarring for a reader who was otherwise completely immersed. It’s a small nitpick, but one I think will naturally smooth out as the series continues and the author grows more confident in these characters.

For a debut novel, this is a fantastic and ambitious world. Even the transition from the city into the forests felt seamless and believable, like different corners of the same living, breathing sphere. The plot is so intriguing that I can’t wait for the next book to arrive. This is one of those diamond-in-the-rough finds I grabbed on BookSirens, and I’m so glad I did. If you like dark fantasy with the beginnings of a dark, obsessive romance simmering under the surface, I’d definitely encourage you to check this one out.

Thank you to BookSirens and Dee Mannine for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Let me start by saying that I waited patiently for this book since I first saw the author tease it on her TikTok. I never engage with 'strangers on the internet' but this book caught my interest from very early on!

Corvid Whispers is a delightfully unique story that kept me guessing from start to finish. The plot unfolds with an intriguing blend of mystery, emotional depth, and unexpected twists that kept me turning the pages late into the night. It’s rare to find a book that feels fresh and slightly unpredictable.

One aspect I especially appreciated was the main character, Seda. She’s a breath of fresh air among today’s typical female leads: real, grounded, and compelling without leaning into the “not like other girls” trope. Seda’s strength and vulnerability felt authentic, and I found myself rooting for her from the very beginning.

That said, the pacing did feel a bit uneven at times. The ending of the book also caught me by surprise because I expected another chapter. It seemed too abrupt. Certain scenes moved briskly while others lingered a little too long, but even then, the story’s tension and emotional pull kept me engaged. I was genuinely upset by a particular character death which, in hindsight, is a testament to the author’s skill in crafting such likeable, characters that readers truly connect with.

One small critique: while I appreciated the inclusion of a trigger warning at the beginning of the book, I think it would be more effective to add content warnings at the start of the specific chapters where instances of assault occur. That would allow readers to better prepare themselves in context without disrupting the overall reading experience.

Overall, Corvid Whispers is a captivating read. Emotional, surprising, and distinct in its voice. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the sequel!

In Corvid Whispers we meet our main character Seda and her best friend Cahir. They live in a dystopian society with declining birth rates, and have entered into a mutually beneficial relationship to try and have children.

As the story progresses we learn that nearly a thousand years ago in this world, the humans and gods fought a war against the monsters. The monsters ending up winning and the gods fled, leaving the humans to take refuge inside a dome where they can eke out an existence safe from the monsters. But they are dealing with declining birth rates and a society built on very strict rules. And even doing your best to follow the rules to the letter doesn’t guarantee your safety.

Every sixth months people are chosen from among those who have been unsuccessful in reproducing to go to camps for “rehabilitation”.
So far Seda and Cahir have been able to avoid being chosen but Seda’s luck has run out.

She gets captured. And now Cahir, along with a trio of feisty corvid shifters and some other new friends, must work to rescue Seda.
Along the way we discover secrets and betrayal, and corrupt leadership to the extreme. Seda must unlock the answers about the world she lives in, the world she comes from, and the secrets Cahir has hidden from her the entire time they’ve known one another.

With unique sects of fae, fascinating shifters, and a slow burn romance with the absolute best yearning, this has elements of the best dystopian fiction, romantasy, and dark romance all wrapped up into one. As a lover of all three of those genres, I devoured this book and can’t wait for book two. This author has definitely pulled me into this world, and I don’t know if I ever want to come back to reality!

Corvid Whispers by Dee Mannine is a dystopian romantasy within a unique world filled with monsters, humans, fae and other magical beings.

Seeing that this is the first book we have a lot of world building and of course suspense as we begin to figure out the world we are diving into. At first I was a little hesitant with how the book started off. It seemed almost immature, like the FMC was going to be this dreadfully boring rule follower. Do not let this stop you from reading it! It makes so much sense later when you start figuring out her story and past.

The FMC Seda, is quiet and reserved in the beginning and then you see her find her voice and begin to come into herself throughout the book. She’s stronger than she believes and is willing to fight for what is right and does not back down when she discovers the horrors around her.

The MMC Cahir, is protective/possessive and mysterious. I was not expecting the plot twist he gave us! He was supposed to complete a task during his time in the dome, he just wasn’t expecting to feel more for our FMC in the process. He has a lot to explain and I can’t wait to see how that all works out ha.

The slow burn is well done and the pacing of the book was a little slow but I believe that’s how the author intended it to be to see up the next book.

One of my favorite side characters was Elco! This creature stole my heart and I hope he sticks around as a loyal companion for Seda.

I can’t wait for the second book to get some answers to the numerous cliff hangers the author left us with!! I would definitely recommend this for a slow burn romantasy reader!

auntingly Beautiful and Thoughtfully Written

Corvid Whispers by Dee Mannine is a quietly powerful and evocative read that lingers in the mind long after the final page. With poetic prose and a deeply introspective tone, Mannine explores themes of loss, transformation, and the thin line between the natural and the supernatural.

The presence of corvids—those mysterious, intelligent birds often tied to omens or hidden knowledge—adds a symbolic depth to the story that is both eerie and compelling. Mannine's use of imagery and atmosphere is striking, giving the narrative a dreamlike, almost meditative quality. It's not a fast-paced book, but one meant to be absorbed and felt.

The characters are nuanced and real, shaped by grief, memory, and a yearning for connection. While the pacing may feel slow to some readers, it allows space for reflection and emotional resonance. At times, the plot felt slightly elusive, and a few narrative threads could have been more tightly woven, but overall, the story delivers a rich and rewarding experience.

Dee Mannine has a unique voice—lyrical, layered, and quietly haunting. Corvid Whispers is a beautiful exploration of the unseen threads that tie us to the world around us, and to each other.

Highly recommended for readers who enjoy literary fiction with a touch of magical realism and a deep emotional core.

My thanks to Dee for choosing me to be an ARC reader for this book, I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Corvid whispers is a dystopian fantasy that kind of gave me hunger games vibes with a slighter darker feel. There were appropriate trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, including highlighting a storyline involving SA, but I do feel that Cahir spitting into the cup in the clinic required its own trigger warning! 🤢

This is definitely a slow burn in the romance department , full of jealous rages from men who never talk about their feelings. Unusual, right?! But I do like how Seda is allowed to develop as a character and an up and coming badass before she is metaphorically swept off of her feet. Physically though …. This girl has spent so much time being swept up by men I’m surprised her legs work! Glad she got a pair of boots eventually!

The absolute star of the show for me, was Elco. His grumpy sarcastic nature just did it for me: I am hoping for far more of his little background comments and sass in the future.

Overall I enjoyed the world building and storyline of this book but at times found the writing, in particular the language used in conversations a little clunky and unnatural. Honestly though, it didn’t make me enjoy it any less and I very much look forward to the next book in the series!

4.25⭐

From the moment I saw the gorgeous cover, I had a feeling this story would be something special, and it absolutely delivered. This book offers a unique story that refuses to fit neatly into one category, instead weaving a dual blend of sub genres that complements its dark fantasy and dystopian elements perfectly.

The world building is phenomenal: rich, layered, and immersive without ever overwhelming the narrative. And at the heart of it all is a fiercely relatable FMC in her 30s, a refreshing and much needed shift from the typical YA leaning heroines that often dominate the genre.

The romance is a devastatingly slow burn in the best possible way, simmering beneath the surface while tension builds with expert precision. Elco shines as an exceptional side character, he might be my new favourite.

The multi POV narrative is handled beautifully, each perspective adding new layers, insight, and intrigue. Just when you think you understand the direction of the plot, the author throws in twists, turns, and emotions running high. The pacing is perfect for the story.

I highly recommend this book to fans of dark fantasy and dystopian fiction. It’s bold, gripping, atmospheric, and utterly absorbing. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Thank you Book Sirens for providing this arc and congratulations to Dee and Anas on a great book.

Absolutely loved!! And eagerly waiting for book 2!

I read a beta copy pre-publication. The journeys Seda (who is refreshingly in her 30s) takes both physically, through mystical and enchanted lands, and as she grows into her true self are enrapturing. I couldn't put the book down, which is saying something as I was in the middle of moving internationally with a 5 month old. I was reading it out loud as a bedtime story at some points. Lol

In addition to the beautiful world building reminiscent of The Last Unicorn and The Dark Crystal, I particularly enjoyed how tougher topics such as inherent prejudices, governmental exploitation, familial and friendship betrayals, and lost innocences have been addressed so far. I'm curious to see how the story continues to unfold and if Seda will be able to come to terms with everything she has been through or if she'll crumble under the pressure.

I also loved the side characters and found my self rooting for them more than the main characters in some chapters. There is a very large, and sometimes furry, side character that is held close to my heart. His true identity caught me off guard but makes me like him even more. The story ends on a spicy cliffhanger but is well worth the pain as I wait for the next book.

Omg I need book 2 immediately!
This is a fantasy dystopian paranormal series with monsters, shifters, fae, and many other magical creatures. By the first chapter I was gripped and the whole book was very action packed without a dull moment.

The world building is interesting but also a little confusing, BUT I think that’s intentional. We are meant to learn new things at almost the same pace as our FMC - Seda. There are twists and turns and a ton of betrayal anddddddd there is a juicy love triangle. I literally don’t know which one I’m rooting for at this point, which never happens.

I took one star off because there were points where the plot felt a little rushed. I wanted more of intimate moments between Seda and Cahir just to see how close their relationship truly is. And Seda says she grew and changed but we don’t get to see that fully. Just a little more of “show, don’t tell” would make this absolutely a masterpiece. Regardless, I’m absolutely obsessed with the book and cannot wait for more.

Little side note: it was super jarring that two absolutely vile characters had the names of my dad and husband! 🙈 Obviously not the author’s fault and of course it didn’t affect my love for the book but just a weird coincidence.

Thank you Book Sirens for the ARC :)

Ultimately this book wasn't my favorite, but there were some things that I LOVED, and I'll start with those!

Firstly, the descriptive writing. The author sweeps you into a magical world with rich descriptions of the setting and characters. I was immediately drawn in by her writing style. The book reads like a dark fairytale anime! (If it's ever made into one, I will most definitely be watching).

Second, I loved the world building. Usually, I see a long glossary at the beginning of the book and groan, but the author did a good job explaining the world she immersed us in without making it confusing. The author's creativity really shines through in this book. If you are a fan of high-fantasy, its worth giving this series a shot!

The aspects I didn't love: I can't put my finger on it, but there was something off about the dialogue. Sometimes it felt weirdly formal and forced, and other times, it was super casual- i.e. I think the word "wowzers" was used at one point. Even despite all the things I loved about this book, it just never really drew me in. There wasn't enough suspense for me, and though I was initially intrigued, I was just never really HOOKED. Because of this, I likely won't continue with the series. Overall I am glad I gave this book a try though!

Corvid Whispers is the debut novel from Dee Mannine, the first in The Amethyst Wrath series. I thought it was a very solid release. This book gave me Handmaiden’s Tale meets Hunger Games (minus the games) dystopian vibes.
I thought it was very well written. The first novel introduces us to the main characters; Cahir and Seda. A relationship I would have loved to seen more developed. Cahir is very protective of Seda and I would have loved more background on their relationship, more “moments” between them. Cahir has kept a big secret from Seda, one that could potentially destroy their relationship. Seda is learning to discover who she truly is and I hope that we can continue to see her grow; I want to see the transformation of her going from a scared, unsure young woman to a complete badass. The overall story felt a little rushed. I don’t particularly like the love-triangle thrown in, it felt out of place to me in this story. There was quite a bit of action; the story never lulled or got boring at all. Overall though I really enjoyed it. I started reading and couldn’t put it down until I finished and that’s a win in my book. I’m eagerly awaiting book 2 to see where the journey continues.

I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I was immediately intrigued when I started and continuously exclaimed, “what?!” as shocking details kept getting revealed and kept me hooked. Towards the end it did start to slow down and then right at the end when it got really good… it ended. I was hoping to get a few more details before the end, but I guess I will have to wait for book 2 to see how it all plays out.

I loved how much this book kept me on my toes with new surprises. There was some modern lingo that pulled me out of the fantasy world, but I still enjoyed the writing.

I also want to mention to just pay attention to the trigger warnings with this one. There’s nothing extremely graphic, but there’s enough to make some readers uncomfortable and possibly be triggering.

I really liked how there were illustrations. I wish there were illustrations of the domed city though because I got a bit confused. It was said it was in the sky, but then it sounded like people could just walk right out of the dome? How high in the sky is it? Is it just floating? Why were people just inside the dome one minute and out the next with no explanation of needing to get back to ground level?

Corvid Whispers pulls you in with its vivid sense of place and an impressive breadth of world-building. The environmental detail is rich and atmospheric, and the author’s creativity really shines through in the unique creatures and the unsettling antagonist that drives much of the tension. As to not give any spoilers, I'll say my favorite character reminds me of a dog you get from the animal shelter. I'm invested to see their journey and exploration. I’m also looking forward to watching the existing relationships deepen and to meeting new characters who can bring warmth, humor, and quirkiness to the storyline.

A few characters moved through the story so quickly that they didn’t have much time to develop before they were no longer part of the story. Even so, the author’s passion for the world she’s creating is clear, and the foundation she’s building holds a lot of promise for what comes next.

Overall, Corvid Whispers sets up a world full of intrigue and potential. I’m genuinely excited to see how the main characters grow, how their personalities come forward, and how the story expands in future installments. This is a strong start with plenty of room to blossom, and I’m eager for book two.

This was my first book of 2026 and I loved it.

I had so much fun piecing together the little crumbs of mystery and spinning my own conspiracies as I read. I completely fell in love with the characters, and Seda, who is in her thirties, is such a refreshing protagonist to follow. My favourite supporting characters were Elco and Roya. They had some really droll lines that had me chuckling. This is a fast paced, high stakes read that kept me guessing consistently. It pulled me in, dragging me through a spectrum of emotional turmoil before it spat me out, leaving me wondering what on earth was going to happen next! The writing is beautiful, with vivid descriptions that fully immerse you in the world Dee has so carefully crafted. There are secrets, betrayal, romance, monsters, and so much more, and the artwork is absolutely stunning. I’m chomping at the bit for the next instalment.

If you enjoy any of these, you're in for a treat:
found magic
dark fantasy romance
dystopian
suspense
torturous slow burn
monsters
obsessive yearning
multiple POV
touch her and 💀
secrets and betrayal

Dee Mannine has created a unique dystopian world and original storyline with her debut. I have a feeling this series is going to be one to keep an eye on as it continues.

What I enjoyed-
Elco. I absolutely love Elco and he may be my favorite character. But I was also a Falcor kid. And Tairn & Andarna are my favorite Empyrian characters.

The unique world.

Cahir’s secret love for Seda (she’s adorably naive to the feelings behind his care for her).

The strength of the sibling bond.

The twists and turns as secrets are revealed.

Seda discovering her strength.

What I hope comes next-
Although Seda is well into adulthood, I would love to see her gain maturity alongside her strength.

Enemies to lovers, but make it slooooowwww burn. He needs to GROVEL.

A love triangle? Because it’ll only make “him” sweat that much more.

Seda’s strength continues to grow and she puts every man who has wronged her in their place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this new dystopian fantasy and am thankful Mannine reached out to me to ARC read.

OMG this book is brilliant - 7 days it took me to read and that is only because I had to go work and get some sleep (overrated I know 🤣)

I was hooked from the beginning, didn’t want to put it down and was so sad when it was finished because I wanted more. The biggest issue I have with the story is that is it not yet published and I have to wait for the next novel and just can’t go out and get it now.

Corvid Whispers is a dystopian, romance fantasy and Dee Mannine has created a world like no others. The characters all have their own personality, traits, things you love about them and potentially things you will hate. Twist, turns, hints and those cliffhangers I think will make this a favourite of those that enjoyed ACOTAR and Quicksilver.

This was my first ARC read and I am so happy that it was. Getting to read this before it is even published means I get to share my love of this book and hopefully influence others to read it. Big thanks to Book Sirens for this opportunity. I also can’t wait to be able to buy a physical copy to go on my bookshelf and also read it a bunch more times.

Corvid Whispers was an excellent introduction to this series. I devoured this book in less than two days - I literally could not put it down, and it has lived rent-free in my brain ever since. The world-building, although complex, was very easy to grasp, and all the characters are incredibly likeable.

I especially loved that Cahir wasn't an asshole and Seda wasn't twenty and bratty - it's a refreshing change to what I've been reading recently. The character development for our sweet Seda was chef's kiss. I loved that she started out unsure and afraid of everything, and that it takes time (along with pain and betrayal) for her to find her power and rage to become stronger.

I also appreciated that there are multiple POVs beyond our FMC - it gives you a fuller picture of the world that the author is building and the stakes involved, which I think makes the story feel richer.

I would definitely purchase a physical copy of this book for my collection and I can't wait for the next one!

Best book I’ve read in a long time - a must read for dark fantasy romance lovers

Corvid Whispers pulled me in from the first few chapters and didn’t let go. The world is harsh, strange, and cruel, but it feels real, and I was fully invested in Seda’s journey. She starts as someone just trying to survive a broken system, and slowly grows into someone stronger, braver, and more powerful than she believes.

I loved the tension between Seda and Cahir (my fav character), it’s not a cheesy romance, it’s messy and emotional, with real pain, secrets, and history between them. The mix of dystopian society, fertility lottery, political violence, and then the shift into enchanted forests and monsters kept the story fresh and different from other fantasy books I’ve read.

If you like intense stories with high stakes, strong character growth, and a dark fantasy romance at the center, this is absolutely worth reading. Even if this is not usually your favorite genre, give it a try, it will pull you in, and you might end up loving this genre for life. It’s that good.

A Slow-Burn Romance Forged in the Darkest Magic
At its core, Corvid Whispers is a powerful story of love, trust, and self-discovery set against a stunning backdrop of dark fantasy and dystopian decay. In a world forsaken by the gods, the key to balance lies with Seda—but first, she must survive the horrifying lottery system of her city, Joro, and the threat of "rehabilitation."
Seda's journey is profoundly moving. She is a strong, yet vulnerable, protagonist who must heal from her past while unlocking a mysterious power within herself. Her relationship with her best friend, Cahir, is a beautifully crafted slow burn. His absolute loyalty is balanced by his closely guarded secrets, creating an emotional tension that is instantly magnetic. You'll find yourself instantly connected to the central pair, as well as the wonderful cast of side characters (including a large, furry favorite whose true identity is a great surprise!).

ARC Read.

4⭐️

Corvid Whispers is a multiple POV dystopian, dark, fast-paced romantasy, and I was shocked to find this was the authors debut due to how immersive the world building was and how easy the dialogue flowed. It's been a long time since I came across a book like this where the World Building didn't feel heavy and confusing.

The plot twists came out of nowhere, and I loved how we moved from different characters' pov's so flawlessly. Seda, our FMC, was so relatable as she navigated some truly difficult situations in a short period of time. I loved her character growth throughout the story and found myself really rooting for her.

I will definitely be picking up book two in this series once it's released and predict big things for this new author.

Thank you Dee for gifting me this advance reader copy!

PLOTS ON PLOTS ON PLOTS!

I received Corvid Whispers as an arc and really enjoyed this book.
Pacing was great and I really enjoyed the chemistry/relationship between the main characters. The miscommunication trope is my secret guilty pleasure, and if I'm reading vibes right its friends to lovers as well with a sprinkle of a love triangle!
I would consider this a dystopian fantasy, it was fun and different than what I am used to reading. Just when the story finally started getting juicy it ended on a cliff hanger. Just when you thought you understood the angle a "new" character or POV was revealed. I will definitely be reading BOOK 2!

4.5⭐️ Review

This story kept me guessing from start to finish! It is a unique story that brings mystery to fantasy in an emotional roller coaster that kept me on the edge of my seat and in “just one more chapter” mode.

I love our main character Seda. She is so real and feels so authentically her. The author writes in a way that makes you feel her fear and vulnerability and anger and joy. You can feel her strength through the story telling and you are on her side from page one.

Overall this was a great read and it left me on some cliff hangers that I am excited to reveal more about on book two!!

Congratulations Dee Mannine on an exceptional Debut novel!

I received an advance reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this. It felt dystopian and fantasy- two genres that I love and can’t always find together so that was great. The romantic storyline was sweet. I really liked the fmc, Seda. I wish she was a little bit of a strong fmc but it was part of the storyline that she was brainwashed by the government her entire life, so I understand her being a little vulnerable. Cahir was great. He was protective and loving and I really enjoyed the very slow burn.

Overall the writing was great and I am excited for book 2
