Sinful Vows

Rate this book
There are rules you must follow if you want to survive in this world.

Not the usual—be nice to your neighbors, take the trash out before it reeks, and keep the noise down after ten—kinda stuff.

I’m talking about real rules. Mafia rules.

You don’t kill a man on his own front lawn.
You don’t take a shot at the boss of all bosses unless you have damn good aim.
And under no circumstance does one family murder a member of another without the boss’s blessing.

Break those rules, and people bleed.

So when a known New York City mafia figurehead shows up to Tim and Aubree’s wedding, then winds up dead before sunrise, Estefan Cordoza wants blood.

And he thinks it should be mine.

He’s pointing fingers, dragging my family into a mess we didn’t make, and worse, he’s pushing my wife into the crossfire.

I don’t want a war.
But if he’s starting one—
I won’t stand down.

Estefan Cordoza has had a long reign.
Might be time for a new regime in New York.

I love this series…..but

I have really enjoyed this series……and I generally support Minka……..but this one hit differently for me…I get where Archer is coming from and to keep him in the dark…..was wrong she put all of them at risk and refused to acknowledge she broke her promise to him and I didn’t like how she acted like she is the only one that is capable of solving things and when he points out all the things that she didn’t stop she wants throw down an ultimatum. I understand that she is smart but she is not invincible- not sure what the next installment holds for us …..but I would certainly like to see her humbled a little, Archer meets her in the middle A LOT of the time I think it’s her turn!

such a cliff hanger!!

Emilia Finn surprises me with every new book! Her characters are real, loveable and flawed!! Maybe that’s what makes her books so special.

I love this series and EF is one of my favorite authors, however, there are times Minka drives me crazy. Why leave at the end? They were having an argument, which is not something new so why the dramatic exit?

I honestly hope the next book will be the last in the series. Everything it began with totally lost its sense. What were the last three books about? Do we really need all those extra characters involved? Both mafia guys and mercenaries bickering like teenagers, a heavily pregnant woman climbing the walls of the building, a mayor calling a medical examiner every other day like he has nothing else to do. And God, paranormal Aubrey. Did we really need that? Sophia, a MOTHER, acting like a 6 year old. It’s not serious, none of it. Archer is like a boy struck by puberty, cannot keep his hands to himself even for 20 minutes.

The whole story took a really unrealistic and mixed up turn. Minka is what she was, and what she wants to stay. Why should she suddenly crave a mansion by the waterfall, helicopters, yachts and personal drivers? Why does Archer now want all his father’s, and brother’s, money can buy? He despised it all (those money are not clean, don’t be deluded), and now it’s ok to show off what a great rich cop he is. He didn’t even need his brothers, and now he can’t live a single day without them (it’s ok to stay connected, hang out occasionally, but, God, not that often).

If I were Minka, I would just run away from all of them. Everyone is constantly asking something from her, wearing stupid bride gowns and heels, opening her soul when she’s not up to it, tricking her into playing stupid mind games or being forced to share a luxury camper. She was being manipulated all the time. The only thing she wanted for herself is her vendetta. I don’t consider her secret a lie, i think she just didn’t want to put everyone she loved under pressure, make them worry, like everybody else burdened her with their problems. And that is simply who she is, what her morale is. She is absolutely ready to face the consequences of her actions, make no doubt. No matter how painful and tragic that would be. Archer knew what he was “buying”, so why be so shocked now? Minka didn’t make a scene, Archer was the one demanding answers in their family’s and friends’ presence. Nothing is solely theirs anymore, not even the two of them.

I want Minka and Archer to deal with their inner turmoils, to see where they stand. Minka didn’t give Archer an ultimatum, she simply reminded him what she was and what she still wants to be, and gave him time and space to decide what he wants - Minka and a broken little girl still inside her, or Minka in the mansion, surrounded by drivers and security.

This last book was pointless. Its only purpose was to stage the key conflict between Archer and Minka in the last 10% of the book.

It Does NOT Get Any Better

I sat on this review after my first read. Like all of Emilia Finn’s books…they all connect to your soul but this one did something different. This one was the one that took me out and I had to marinate with it the. Read it again. This SERIES is phenomenal….better than any TV series you could ever watch! SVU who? NCIS what? Criminal Minds…Nope. The Mayet Series, every book is better than ANYTHING else. Period. Hands Down and I will go to my grave singing its praises.

Emilia Finn is a mastermind of Taylor Swift level MasterMind. The tales she weaves, the families she blends, the people along the way are nothing short of breathtaking, captivating, staggering….addicting!

This installment of the Mayet series is not like any other because this one test our main characters, Minka and Archer, like no other. I had to read it a second time….to grasp the seriousness of where our characters are going. All I can say is if you aren’t reading this book, this series, THIS AUTHOR then your life is considerably lacking because I can not imagine a world prior to reading Emilia’s books.

Heartbroken in the best of ways

You know a story and its characters have woven their selves into your life, when you find yourself crying over the ending of a book. Emilia Finn has once again delivered, in spectacular fashion. Book NINETEEN of this series, and I'm as hooked as if it were book ONE.
We begin with a wedding, of sorts, lol. The kind that Aubree and Tim always should have gotten. Nothing is ever as peaceful as it seems, and the worlds Archer and Minnnnka try to keep away from, rear their ugly heads. We end this beautifully written installment, with our hearts in our throats, terrified of what's to come. Brilliantly frustrating, I'm now left pondering the previous chapters, and wanting to dive in again, to see what I missed! Can't wait for book TWENTY of an epic series!

The day finally came! Aubree and Tim’s wedding!
The beginning of this book was so funny! I loved Minka’s crazy outbursts. She’s socially awkward still and I loved the altar scene! Haha!
I love the love Archer and Minka share. They are so perfect for each other!

And I just knew she was somehow involved with Agosti’s death! And the more I read the more I realized this book would end in a cliff hanger! Which Emilia hasn’t done that for the past few books! I feel like the last time a book ended in a cliff hanger was the very first one! And maybe the third.. anywho! I loved the interaction she had with Cordoza’s body guards! I could just picture it all while I was reading.

Emilia has a way of pulling you in, and explaining in great detail what is happening. I enjoy reading her books. This one broke my heart at the end. But I know
Minka and Archer will
Survive this!

What an ending

How, why, ugh June? We gotta wait till June after that ending. Cruel and unusual punishment. This book was everything we didnt know we needed and also some things we could do without. (Like that ending) ugh my heart. Way to break it. Once again Emilia proves why she's a force to be reckoned with in her writing. Minka and archer are so amazing and it's no wonder we're on book 19 of this cult and their amazing story and families. Im living the cross overs. And come June i expect happy penguins Finn!

June is too far away!!!

This was terrific and frustrating at the same. I look forward to the release of every book in this series; I love Minka and Archer! I love every single character whom they love and interact with regularly—and there are so many that we come to know. Where are my Mayet Justice fans out there? I am going to need a support group to get me through until June….

Emilia Finn has outdone herself again with the new Mayet Justice book. Estefan Cordorza wants answers when someone ends up unalived after Tim and Aubree's wedding, and he wants Minka to provide them, much to Archer's dismay. This book has everything you expect from an Emilia Finn story! The humor, the passion, the suspense, the mystery, the tension, and all the anticipation of what's going to happen next.

"Oh good. She bagged a smartass. You insist on testing me, Doctor Douchebag. But it's fine. You have your fun."

That ending though.

Great, twisty, mafia full story. The Malones, Cordoza, Checkmate, the Emeri family, the mayor, and some surpise guests attend a wedding that leads to a case for Minka and a different one for Archer and Fletch. Then... ugh.
I love the Malone chaos! Minka is so stubborn and passionate. Archer so protective and just as passionate. But, man, can they create some drama! That ending has me screaming for the next book already! I don't want to wait!

Whois gonna be next?

I could not get this out of my head I mean what kind of ending was that. She kept stuff away from them but it was to keep them safe. She is a medical examiner it’s her job to keep it private. I mean there is a dead mobster. 15 underage to mid twenties girls that are starved in a hotel room. There are some serious issues in Copeland and oh don’t forget about the mobsters that are visiting from NY. Yeah it’s definitely not the same city like it used to be.

couldn’t put it down

I won’t give anything anyway. I didn’t feel like this lagged too much it wasn’t non stop action but not a boring set up book.
I had a feeling while reading the book before this we were sounding like something would happen relationship wise for people.
I cannot wait until June to read the next book! This author is one of my favorites.

So many laughs and a twist I wasn't ready for

Another good one! I laughed a lot in the beginning, Aubs & Tim's wedding was great! The twist that comes later threw me for a loop. And oh how it threatens everything. Do we really have to wait until June now?? Emilia Finn, you're breaking my heart, woman! But, well done on the plot twists and turns!

I liked this one better than the last, but Minka is starting to grate on my nerves. It's not often I go from really liking a FMC to not liking her, but she is devolving through the books. This one ends on a cliffhanger, and I really do want to see what happens next, so definitely looking forward to the next installment, and I love Emilia Finn overall, just need Minka to dial it back a bit.

the best Mayet chapter yet!

I truly cannot wait for the next one. I hope this series never ends. Every time we catch a glimpse of what's happening in Copeland city you never know what's going to happen and I am here for every minute of it. I fell in love with Bobby and Kit, but Minka and archer, I love your story. I cannot wait for the next one to come out.

Prediction…

Well this one was easy to predict but was still a lovely departure from the all about love theme. It was easier to predict the mystery but I’m really interested in seeing where the trajectory of Minnnnka and Archers romance will go. I’m really want to see Fletch and Fifi fall in love finally. That’s the book I’m really waiting for.

What a wild story.

Oh man, Minka and Archer were on a roll with this book. Emilia, how could you?!?! We have their usual fun, playful, sarcastic moments but this one also seriously tugs at your heartstrings and infuriates you at the same time.

Best Mayet Justice book yet

MINKA! Ugh, Archer is tied only with Bobby as my favorite Emilia character. Archer is trying so hard to keep his family and life together and Minka is singularly focused on her own priorities. She is getting frustrating in her selfish moral high ground.

I love the series and enjoyed this book. Great characters throughout that you get attached to. Archer’s love for Minka = goals. He gets her. Minka however is selfish and non-wavering. It’s unfortunate that she repeatedly does things that break Archer’s heart.
