Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

LOOKING TO JUMP START YOUR CHRISTMAS SPIRIT? Murder takes a Holiday will do just that. A quick, breezy read, the book features Izzy Greene, a senior sleuth with a great life--if she can hang onto it! This is one of several books in Sylvia Selfman's Izzy Greene Senior Sleuth Cozy Mystery series. It's a tasty treat to read along with a cup of tea, in a couple hours...maybe while taking a break from making you're holiday gift list and checking it twice.

Izzy is retired, living it up in the desert resort cities near Palm Springs. She has good friends, a kitty, and a man in her life--an ex-cop! Her golden years aren't always bright and shiny, however. Even when she's out on the glitzy Christmas party circuit, trouble drops in...right down the chimney. A dead guy at a Christmas party? Whodunit? Why? You'll have to buy yourself a little gift and read all about it.

Lovely Valentine read

I love Christmas stories and this one, even though I read it on Valentine's day was great. A good story can be enjoyed anytime.

Marnie and Izzy meet at a knitting group, now inviting her to posh Christmas party. With an excuse to get her alone, she shows her a note she found in boyfriend Clark’s pocket. She wants Issy with a woman’s intuition to check him out. Gold digger or real. Miscommunication leads to mayhem with good intentions. Delightful little story to read.

Surprise!

What a great mystery! There are a lot of fabulous surprises in this book. The friendships are just about the best part of the story, but I also liked the different Santas and the interactions with Izzy and Flo’s pets.

An interesting story and an easy read. Izzy can be a bit over impulsive at times which is odd for a professional.

Yes it is a holiday book but what a book.

Izzy and Flo get invited to a swanky party of a lifetime. Then the snooping vegans. How many boyfriends can one senior have and which one wants her dead. I could not put this one down. This book is not one to skip just because it has a holiday theme.

I enjoyed this story. It was a nice little mystery to read by the fire just before Christmas. It even had a Santa falling out of a Chimney. I would recommend this story for anyone interested in cozy mysteries

A cute holiday cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was well presented. I will be reading more from this new to me author. Living in a building with seniors I found too many circumstances that could be familiar. The book is entertaining as well as a quick read.

This series is dropping in quality on all fronts: Characterization, plot, editing, and formatting. This novella seems very rushed and the actual mystery makes little sense. I'm hoping for improvement in the next book, but I'm not very hopeful at this point...

Good Story

The third Izzy Green book is as good as the first two. This book is shorter and moves more quickly than the first two books. A fun, easy read.
