Devotion, a stand-alone novel and spin-off of the Rossi family saga, features a steamy, forbidden love, opposites attract billionaire romance. Mature readers only, please
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
The Montavio Brotherhood is a spinoff from the Deviant Doms series that featured cousins, the Rossi family. They share one family member that is in both series, Nonna, the beloved grandmother. Many of the Montavio family members have been mentioned in the previous series, and in this one, we will see Rossi kinfolk.
Eden Soul and Sergio Montavio are the main characters and are as far apart as light to dark. Eden was raised in a cult where women are subservient and abused. Sergio had recently become the head of the Montavio family when his older brother needed to step down to give constant care to his critically ill wife.
The story’s plot begins with Eden escaping the compound in North Carolina, boarding a bus that will take her to Boston, and from there, she has no plans except to get a job and save enough to rescue her sister. Exhaustion will have her entering a building, finding a bedroom, and falling into a deep sleep where Sergio finds her—his own real-life Goldilocks. He is a big powerful man, intimidating to most, and Eden is small, undernourished, but feisty. She manages to convince him to allow her to cook for him—and then for his club. He has few rules, but ones he demands she obeys—and that means no entering the club or going beyond certain areas.
The story is mystery, suspense, life and death danger, and the beginning of two people together. Sergio needs to marry and has allowed Romeo to make arrangements that will add to the family’s alliance because it sure won’t be for love. The one thing he never expected to happen in his life is a little waif of a woman to worm her way into his life and get under his skin, and he would do anything to protect her.
When a near-death experience nearly kills Mario Rossi and Sergio, it can’t be just an accident—when Eden hears word that Sergio is injured, she does what she wasn’t allowed—she enters the club for answers—but instead, she sees a world she has never experienced. Will the BDSM club send Eden running? How will Sergio deal with his naughty chef?
“If this is my reward for disobedience, I hope you know I have no intention of ever doing what you tell me again.”
What will set Eden off that has her leaving her new life and returning to danger? She had no plans, only hurt and the desire to rescue Starla. Will her impetuous decision bring her doom?
“I know—on the other side of fear is—freedom.”
I loved the chemistry between Sergio and Eden. For two different people, with different upbrings and lifestyles, they are the yin to the other’s yang. Eden may have been indoctrinated but it was nothing she accepted. She is strong and loyal—something that Sergio admires.
I really love a good Mafia Romance like this one, it has Lots of Action and lots of Smut, just like how a good Mafia Romance should be. Great characters and a great HEA at the end.
I’ve read lots of mafia books and I have to say this is my first one where the FMC just broke out of a Mennonite like cult and doesn’t even know what a cell phone is. BOOKTOK STRIKES AGAIN 🙈
Adored every part of this book! Eden is so sweet yet isn't as innocent as she seems. I love how Sergio took her and showed her what true love is. What she deserves and what she was missing. He did everything for her. I love how they both talked to each other and explained their thoughts and feelings. I love the ending. Now can't wait for Quinns story.
(the power went out, again, what’s a girl to do but read by candlelight) “I once read that fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.”
Thoughts: - Edens last name is… soul? Really? -40 pages in = “Who did this to you?” (yesssssss mwhahahahaha) - OH THE MC WAS IN THE ARRANGED MARRIAGE AND THEN HE HIT HER NOT THE NEW MALE MC FUCK THAT WAS CONFUSING - “What can I do to make you feel safe?" there we GO - 200 pages to wait before decent smut RIP - ok turns out he was meant to have an arranged marriage also and he was with her while being engages so… yikes - so she went back to the place she got abused, planless, stupid, forgot her phone, and on a whim? Does she have brains at all? Besides cooking. -Can you love someone who isn't yours? - blah blah and you kinda do it one, save the sister, and now you’re getting married? Huh - anyway note to self find where I put that silk blindfold I wanna try something -that ending was so wack haha (before they got married a few days later, more wack) -nvm ending is better now, she’s a brat (lol)
Notes: - With a particular fondness for bold prints and V-necks thatshow cleavage all the way to her navel, she turns heads with effortlessconfidence and undeniable sex appeal. - “Only Sergio couldmake opening a brand-new kink club sound like an act of defiance andaltruism. -is this… an arranged marriage trope? - I tip back the glass and drink until the ice hits my teeth - I want to change the subject. I don’t want to talk about me any more than Iwant anyone looking at me. - Oh my God, you’re adorable and mad - I want to prove to myself that I don’t need people to make me feel safe andsecure. I want to prove that I can handle myself and make a way for myself, and earn so much money that when I go back to get Starla, we can doanything we want. - I spin aroundand stare at the doorway, half expecting someone to find me. But I’m alone. For the first time in a decade… I’m alone. I have mixed feelings about that -you’re no use to me if you faint on the job -The woman’s wearing bruises from the fists of another man -My throat tightens, because I just accidentally stated, out loud, for this perfectstranger to hear, my entire life’s struggle. I want to belong. I need to belong. And right now, the only man I’ve everbeen attracted to in my entire life has orchestrated things so that the onlything I’ve ever wanted is out of my reach -I was created to live. I was created to love. I was created to feel -NEED to get used to how quickly her moods shift. One minute she's chattyand happy and talking with her eyes wide open, looking around her inwonder with the simplicity that draws me to her. The next, panic flashesthrough her eyes. I don't know if I'll ever be able to quell that panic for her. I want to -“I’m scared,” I tell him honestly. “Scared that it will hurt?” His brows furrow. I shake my head. “No. Scared that it… won’t.” “Eden.” -“I don’t deserve a woman likeyou, but I’ll spend the rest of my life striving to be the man you deserve.” -But I’m still not sure what love is, and I can’t make promises I don’t know ifI can keep.
Funny moments: - I knew you were kinky when we were in sixth grade andyou trapped Tanya Monteiro in the broom closet.” I shrug. “Everyone trapped Tanya in the broom closet.” “ Dude. You were the only one who tied her up. - Okay, so it’s fair to say I don’t trust men - I lay back on the pillow and breathe out a sigh of relief. I said a prayer beforeI fell asleep, and maybe there is still a God because I’m still here and noone’s found me yet. “Thank you,” I whisper. “You’re welcome.” I stifle a scream at the sound of a deep, raspy male voice coming fromsomewhere in the room and reach wildly for my glasses. My hands clasparound them and I shove them on my face. (lmao) -“Animal… husbandry.” “Yes, sir.” Sir. Until now, I had no idea one of my kinks was despoiling an innocentwoman.(lol) -“Eden,” I repeat. “Like the Garden?” Good ol’ Catholic school for the win.hahaha -“Can you help or not?"“Oooh,” he says in a high-pitched falsetto like he’s mimicking one of thewomen at the club. “I fucking love it when you get all bossy.” (bromance? Haha) -“Since when have you ever known me to give a fuck about what’s legal?’ Mario grins. “True.” -“Did you tie me up?” I say with a forced yawn. “It must’ve been terriblyforgettable -“Should’ve made youcome five times instead of three.”“Yes,” I breathe, stifling a moan. “You should have, you slacker.
Tension: - If masculinity could be beautiful, he’s sittingright in front of me -I don’t remember the last time I had to tell someone to dosomething twice. “Now sit.” “With all due respect, Sergio, I have some pride.” She did not just talk back to me. She did -How hungry are you?”The innocent look she gives me stirs a hunger of a different sort.“Starving,” I say hoarsely, hoping she doesn’t realize I’m not talking aboutfeeding my belly -Good girl,” he says in a low tone, his eyes on mine -“Tell me, Eden,” he says in a low voice they can’t hear. “Tell me you’ll obeyme.” -I’m engaged to be married. Yes, sir. She knows I like it when she calls me sir. She has no fucking idea. I lift my phone and send Timeo a text. Get me a fucking submissive tonight. I need to get this aggression and testosterone out before it chokes me, and Ido something I regret. -I nestle her hand in my palm. “This might sting,” I say, hesitating to hurt her. “I know. Do it.” I grit my teeth and swipe the blood off her palm. She doesn’t even flinch. -I can’t have her. I can’t be with her. I can’t even kiss her. -“I seem to have led you to believe I’m a patient man.” Oh. Oh my. -He pauses as if he doesn’t want to complete the sentence. I want him to. I want to hear what he would do -“You are a gentleman!”“Mmm,” he says thoughtfully. “Not quite. I’ve only given you that illusion.”I glare at the door and imagine his head just on the other side. I give the wooda good, hard, slap.“Sergio, please. ”He only chuckles. Why is that so erotic? Ugh! -I OUGHT to lay her over that spanking bench behind that paneled wall, righthere in the middle of the club, and paddle her pretty little ass red -I run my thumbalong her jaw, memorizing the feel of her vulnerability -If this is my reward for disobedience, I hope you know I have no intention of ever doing what you tell me again -There's a part of me that wonders what that would be like withyou." I think of the woman on the table and how beautiful she was in thethroes of pleasure. His voice is strangled. “Eden…”"You said those people experience pleasure. I like the idea of… turningsomething that was painful to me into… pleasure. And I think you’d knowexactly how to do that. And I…” -We do not enter into any of this unless you'rehonest with me." His voice is husky. His pupils are dilated, and he’sbreathing heavily.
Smut: -(on watching others) Her head is bowed, and the man’s fingers are under her chin. He strokes hercheek lovingly, and she has a look of absolute ecstasy on her face. I’ve neverseen someone happier in my entire life -His deep-throated chuckle sets my nerves on fire. “Is that a challenge?” Oh. Oh no. Oh yes. I stare at him. -I don’t… date . I hook up. I fuck. I dominate. But this feels different. -190 -194 -He outlines my lips with his finger before his lips brush across mine -I crave putting you over my lap,” he says in a low whisper in my ear. “Iwant to overpower you. I want to dominate you.” With a gentle stroke of hishand on my cheek, he says, “Your submission is the most beautiful thing I’veever seen, Eden. You give it to me freely. I want more.” -“I want to taste you.” -"Take your clothes off, sweetheart." -“And if I want your discipline?”Even the sound of his chuckle makes me shiver with need. “Then disobey me. Go on, then.” -256 to 258 -When he grabs the back of my neck to hold me in place, I stifle a moan. Withanyone else, I’d be afraid, but with him——I’m alive -“You little brat,” he says with a grin. I squeal and try to protect myself, butI’m way too slow. In seconds, he’s got me pinned beneath his weight, sprawled beneath him in gloriously helpless submission. In one swift move,he pins my wrists in one hand and cracks his palm against my ass with theother. “As if you forgot. I should’ve spanked you harder.” -279-280
A bdsm Dom book without the good stuff!!! Why make it a Dom book when there isn't details, surely that s why people read it!!! So pg that I was bored. I did like the characters but after reading one book I won't bother ready any more from this author!!
Love Alpha/Doms who can also be sweet, tender and patient!
Devotion is the first book in the Montavio Brotherhood series. This series is a spin-off of the Deviant Doms (Rossi Famiglia) series. The Rossi's and Montavio's are blood related and their families are intertwined so the Rossi's will pop in and out of this series. (If you haven't read the Deviant Doms series yet, you should.)
With this book Henry has done what too many authors often fail to do when writing Alphas/Doms who demand respect and obedience and pair them with a heroine who's a complete innocent, or worse, one who's endured physical abuse. What's that you ask? Make it believable, that's what! We're expected to believe that this abused heroine is suddenly turned on the very first time she's disciplined (oft times harshly and before any semblance of a relationship is established). In this story, Henry's Alpha/Dom, is similar. Head of his mafia family, he demands respect and obedience from all his people, and yes, he's into kink. Her heroine escaped from a 'religious' cult where she was raised and spent years of physical and mental abuse from her father, the husband he chose for her (at 15) and the male elders. And here's where similarities from other stories end, because Jane Henry makes this work, she makes it believable.
How? By creating a heroine who has a spine of steel; one who's willing to face her fears to change her life; who may be innocent in the ways of a modern world, yet sees and understands so much underneath the surface. By creating a hero who sees her bruises; who is so taken with her goodness, innocence and honesty he wants to temper his normal inclinations, protect her from that side of himself, to earn her trust and keep her safe. Working in the kitchens of his sex club, she's been forbidden to enter the actual club; and has no clue what it's about. Until news reaches her that he's in the hospital after a car accident and she can find no one in her domain to tell her if he's alright. Her worries for him lead her to enter the club seeking one of his men to tell her if he's alright, only to discover he's been released and is already at the club and not happy to find she disobeyed him. What ensues is a beautiful piece of work as he decides to no longer hide who he is and allows her to see what the club is about. The honesty and insights revealed by both and the truths spoken as he exposes her to his world, and how he does it make this all believable.
Be assured, kink is only a small part of this story. It's mainly a story about two people with the strength to go against everything they've been taught to believe, against everything expected of them, even against their own nature, to change their lives and live it. It's about learning and growing. It's about saving the ones you love and eradicating what threatens them. It's about family and belonging and love...And Yes, I loved this book, but then I love all of Jane Henry's work. 5 Stars.

Sergio Montavio is on the cusp of opening his exclusive club catering to those with a taste of kink. When he finds Eden Soul sleeping in one of the rooms, he knows he has to have her but the timid woman who is desperate to earn her own place needs time. Sergio is the head of the mafia and his life is complicated which includes needing to wed someone who has advantages to add to his family, which Eden does not.
Eden fled from a cult who touts the word of the lord but certainly does not follow what they preach. Eden is intent on earning enough to go back and get her little sister out. She doesn't plan for Sergio or the conflicting emotions she has for him. Can the girl who grew up sheltered blossom to the woman she is destined to become?
This was entertaining. Liked the chemistry between Eden and Sergio. I was pulled in right away and wanted to read more about the other characters. Will be reading the rest in the series.
Started promising: spoilers ahead Edit: After reading the third book, I was recommended the corsica series which looked familiar, I read one of them awhile ago. I didn't realize it was the same author. Either way I guess she came along way from that series to this one.
I started to read the third book first without realizing it was a series, so I stopped and began with the first. I also didn't realize it was a spinoff as the author is new to me. With that being said, you don't have to read the spinoff to understand this book, I would though to understand the characters more as they are talked about a lot during the entirety of the book. Let's move on, I really wanted to like this one because the concept and storyline were new and refreshing when it came to the subgenre of mafia romance. I did enjoy the first 30% of the book, but unfortunately, I had to force myself to read the rest over the course of a week. The only reason I didn't dnf is because I want to read the 3rd book about Starla. I thought I was going to love Eden at first due to her willingness and hunger for survival. She left "the fellowship " without knowing anyone or anything and was determined to survive on her own long enough to save her sister. Great, I love a strong fmc. However, as the story continued, she fell flat to me, and honestly, her naivety annoyed me. One moment she didn't know how the world worked because she had been apart of the "cult" for so long and the next moment she was speaking words of wisdom while cooking Italian food ( she was from North Carolina) for large parties at the club. It just didn't flow well or make sense to me. Like a lot of books, unfortunately, the fmc starts strong, and then they meet the mmc and completely change either their personality, the plan they had for themselves, or they just become dense . This is the case for Eden. Oh no I can't be attracted to Sergio because it's a sin and I'm married then literally in the blink of an eye she's getting spanked and aroused but don't worry because her inner monologue still feels guilty to an extent. Her character was wishy, washy , and barely tolerable, in my opinion. Not to mention, she knew nothing about Sergio at all. Also, why was Daisy the dog apart of this story? Seemed like something just thrown in there. "I'll always have daisy, I'll never leave her" 2 chapters later " I left daisy in the room with a note for Quinn to take care of her because I can't take her with me. See, wishy washy. Also, who is Quinn? They met on the bus but became besties, and Quinn knows everyone in the family at the club ? No back story whatsoever on her. Maybe she was in the other series ? Now on to Sergio. I personally don't care much for the whole dom/sub lifestyle in books, but I will say I expected it to me more. All he did was spank her. It is also weird to me that she immediately got aroused the first time he did that given her past. I'm not a professional, though, and I don't kink shame, so it's whatever on that aspect. Sergio was boring. Way to calm, cool, and nice to be a mafia Don. He really could've just been a billionaire who owns a sex club with ties to the mafia cousin family. I think authors are trying to hard to keep up with what's popular and just making any character mafia, organized crime, mob, etc. It doesn't work for everyone and every storyline. Not once did he need to be a Don for this book or the storyline. " If you were mine, I'd punish you by spanking you." Please... We've been done with fifty shades of grey for almost a decade now. Let's try and get creative. I know this review is pretty lengthy, but I just needed to vent. I really wanted to like this book, but I just didn't. I gave 3 stars because I did enjoy the first 30% and I will read starlas' book. I'm unsure, however, if this author is for me.
So this is so unrealistic, to the point where it's almost offensive. Eden is running away from an abusive cult that forced her to marry at the age of 15 to a older abusive man. She was in the cult since the age of 9, doesn't know how to use a cell phone, doesn't know sarcasm or jokes (unless she's the one being sarcastic or is joking...weird...), and is super naive (unless she's just...not. At times, she's super knowledgeable and it's as if she was not in a cult, it's very much not consistent). And despite living in a cult since the age of 9 she is VERY knowledgeable about how to cook Italian food (despite not knowing Italians within the cult and not being allowed to go to libraries, or watch tv...so that doesn't make sense). Sergio owns and works at a sex club and is in the high ranks of the mafia. It's insta lust once he finds Eden randomly sleeping in a bed within his club. She just snuck in...and fell asleep, in a random bed...because apparently that's a smart thing to do? He quickly realizes that she was abused after seeing a bunch of bruises on her. He hires her as a cook pretty much on the spot, because she cooked an amazing breakfast of bacon, eggs and...bread. Impressive. /s Anyways, she's cooking for his club unaware it's a sex club, he forbids her to go into the club. He's so horny for her he asks for a sub who has no limits. But anything that happens with that sub is completely off page. But let me tell you, once Eden and him finally do get together it's pretty damn vanilla. For a sex club, he's very tame. Granted, I DNF'd at 87% because they were basically together, most strings got tied up too nicely (and quickly...it was anti-climatic at how quickly everything got tied up), and I got really annoyed at all the typos. This book needed to be edited a couple more times. The writing was immature and needed to be fleshed out, and all of the characters were underdeveloped. Eden was at times timid...but most of the time it's as if she was never experienced abuse or anything. Her behavior was inconsistent and didn't make sense. One thing I DID like is that Sergio suggested she speak to a therapist due to all that she went through--that's not something you see in romance novels (especially mafia genre's). And yes, someone who went through what she did would most def need to see a therapist.
Jane Henry has started yet another brilliant, powerful series and anyone who was addicted to Deviant Doms, as I was, will welcome revisiting the Montavio and Rossi families. Eden Soul handed all the money that she possessed to the ticket man and asked for a ticket to as far as her money would take her, it took her to Boston. Eden opened her eyes in an unfamiliar room, the events of the day before gradually coming back to her, she had secretly saved and planned her escape from the Fellowship, a cult where women were physically, mentally and sexually abused, no one left the Fellowship and Eden was heartbroken to have to leave her young sister behind but this was the only way that she could save the two of them. Sergio Montavio was proud of his high class erotic club and was astounded when he found a bespectacled girl in a long skirt, looking for all the world like an Amish girl, waking up in one of his rooms, she was like no other woman that he had ever met, she had an innocent beauty, she didn't belong in his world but somehow he felt protective of her and gave hera job in his kitchen. This is Eden and Sergio's story, she married to a cult leader, him engaged to a woman that he didn't know in order to strengthen the alliance of his mafia family, a family of which he was Don. I loved revisiting the brilliant Rossi family who are cousins to the Montavios, they all accepted Eden, except Sergio's mother, and she loved the feeling of belonging to a family, a feeling that she had never had but still her goal was to earn money, return to the Fellowship and rescue her sister. The attraction between these two very different people was cataclysmic, Eden saw the gentler side of the mafia boss and he saw the feisty, funny side of Eden but were the hurdles along the way insurmountable ? I love the code of ethics of the Mafia families, they have their own rules, they are fiercely loyal, family always comes first. I really enjoyed this book, Jane Henry has created wonderful, likeable characters , the love between Eden and Sergio is palpable, there is suspense, danger, atrocities, corruption, I am so looking forward to the next book in the series, a well deserved five stars. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
A riveting read that will captivate you and engage you with an exciting plot and characters
This is a spinoff of the Deviant Doms series which is set around the Rossi family, they share a Nonna and many of the Montavio characters have been mentioned in the previous series and in this book, we will meet the Rossi Family and kinfolk. The main characters are Sergio Montavio and Eden Soul who had been raised in an environment where women are treated poorly. Abused and beaten a Serio has steeped down to care from his ailing wife who requires constant care.
Eden escapes the compound in North Carolina and climbs on a bus that takes her to Boston, she has to find a job and save enough money to rescue her sister however when she falls into a deep sleep in a cheap room where she is found by Sergio. She is a tiny thing that is undernourished but she has a temper, and is feisty and he knows she will obey so she is taken on to cook for his club but has to remain away from the front of house.
This is a story that is filled with lots of mystery and hard men and women that have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. However, Sergio needs to marry and has allowed Romeo to make the necessary arrangements. That was until he let a certain feisty female get beneath his skin where she has stayed, he never thought he would find a woman he cared for and yet for Eden he would do anything to keep her safe.
When Mario Rossi and Sergio are nearly killed and it is apparent that it was no mere accident, Eden hears that Sergio has been injured and she tries to discover what has happened. When Sergio discovers that she broke his rule and entered the club she knows he will be unhappy, he is not sure how she will feel about seeing a BDSM club up front and personal so to speak.

What an exceptional start to a new series by Ms. Henry. The Montavio Brotherhood starts with Sergio’s story. Sergio’s is head of his mafia family based in Boston. He takes his role as leader extremely seriously. He does what is necessary for his family and for the perseverance of his family line. Eden has had a rough miserable life. But she is a young lady determined to break the cycle of abuse. Not just for herself but mainly for her younger sisters sake. She’s naive and innocent because of her situation and circumstances. But for me that just made her so much more endearing. Eden overhears a conversation so she mistakes Sergio’s new club for a hotel. Well Eden is in for one shocking surprise. Because she finds comfort not in a hotel but in a classy BDSM club. I just need to mention how much I loved this part of the story. It was funny and so sweet. The innocence of Eden to the depravity of Sergio. Her guileless to his worldly. Light to dark. Made for the best opposites attract. Yes they are absolute polar opposites. But they fit perfectly. I loved Eden’s backstory. It made for a suspense and action filled backdrop to their budding relationship. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because it was inevitable that it would. The rough and tough Sergio, the dangerous and ruthless mafia man, was something completely different when it came to Eden. I loved seeing that side of him. She brings out what no one else can or could. They are an incredible couple together and getting to see them fall in love was heartwarming. The character growth and development was amazing. Most especially Eden. Family bonds gave her belonging. Friendships made her feel liked. But Sergio’s love healed her. Built her up and gave her confidence. She always had it in herself. But Sergio’s unconditional support and love brought it all to fruition. **4.5 stars**
I thought I couldn't fall more in love with these characters, but - I was SOO wrong! While technically this is a new series, this is also an extension of the Rossi family [who we started loving in Vittoria and Romeo's story - Oath of Silence]. The major players I fell for in those stories are in this one, and while you can read this as a stand-alone, I recommend reading all the Deviant Doms prior to this book. I loved "seeing" Mario, Tosca and all the other relatives again, and was happy to already know their backstories before this one.
If you don't enjoy OTT, controlling, protective Alpha men, and/or Dom/sub relationships - this is Not the read for you.
Eden has nothing and no one when she finds herself where she shouldn't be, but it is infinitely better and safer than what she's running from. So when the Dom of the Montavio family finds her at his club, she has to think fast, and use what few skills she has. Sergio is instantly taken with the delicate, naïve woman he finds, and the Alpha protector in him springs to life. [umm ... Yes please!!] Good thing, 'cause she's gonna need everything his protection provides! Their chemistry is fun to read, and I enjoyed seeing his restraint.
The twists and turns, violence, family loyalties, and steamy dominance that we expect from this author and her characters are easy to connect with, and enjoy. My most favorite part of this read was how similarly these two carry their personal struggle to be loved and accepted for who they are, and how they achieve their HEA.
I really enjoyed this read, and highly recommend this book, this author, and her numerous other creative and engaging series. I can not wait for the next one in the Montavio Brotherhood.
Eden Soul has fled a cult, including an abusive husband and controlling father. She leaves in order to establish a new life for both herself and her sister, Starla. She takes all of her savings and makes her way to Boston, where she wanders into a club and falls asleep. Unbeknownst to her, when she wakes, she is in the company of none other than Sergio Montavi, Don of the Montavi family.
Sergio is powerful, he is a dominant and is the owner of the new sex club. He has been informed that it is time he marries per the families custom. He is determined it will be for that reason only love will not play a part.
Sergio was surprised by his immediate feelings for Eden. He is fiercely protective of her and is determined to learn her story and to keep her safe. The more Sergio learns, the more he wants to keep Eden by his side.
Eden, having been in an arraigned and abusive marriage since the age of 15, is overwhelmed by her new environment. She is struggling with both her attraction to Sergio and how to best free her sister.
The way this relationship and the characters evolve is beautifully written. The characters have undeniable chemistry. There is just the right amount of romance and spice and angst. There are hints at future books in this new series. Also, if you have read the Deviant Dom's Series, you will love the many appearances of the Rossis.
This author is an automatic read for me. She is truly one of my favorites, and this book is a perfect example of why. This is book one in the Montavio Series, and I am eagerly awaiting future books.
I received this ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "DEVOTION" OMG!! I ever get enough of this authors books such an extremely talented writer always a pleasure she never disappoints, I love the start to this new series. Eden Soul escapes the cult shed been raised in where women are treated like crap, abused, she couldn't take it anymore, ends up sleeping in a building exhausted from her running away. Sergio Montavio recently be ame head of Montavio Family because his brother steps down to take care of his critically sick wife. Sergio finds a sleeping Eden who looks frail, small but feisty doesn't know her story but she begs him to let her cook for him & his club he's drawn to her wants to protect her for some reason. Eden was in an arranged marriage at age 15yrs he was abusive, she finds she's attracted to Sergio but his world is overwhelming & she struggles with wanting to rescue her sister Starla. I definitely recommend to get this amazing intense drama Sergio & Eden take you on quite the adventure so much happens, can they get a HEA, will she rescue Starla to set her free, its a must read such an addicting page turner you can't put down. I'm so looking forward to "ADORATION" the next book in this amazing new series with awesome characters that pull you right into all the chaos. PHENOMINAL MAFIA ROMANCE 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
Eden has finally gotten up the nerve to leave the cult she was dragged into as a child. She has to get far enough away and make enough money to come back for her younger sister. But she knows absolutely nothing about how to exist in the world outside their enclave. The money she managed to scrimp together got her to Boston, but now she is broke. Walking into a strange house and falling asleep in a soft bed may be her luckiest mistake - or her biggest one.
Sergio Montavio is finally opening the exclusive Boston BDSM club he's dreamed of. Unexpectedly finding a strange woman asleep in one of the guest rooms is an unpleasant shock. But once she awakens and he talks to her he realizes that she is running from something or somebody. When she tells him she can cook, he gives her a chance to prove it. Hiring her might be a mistake, but it is one he will happily make because this beautiful, slightly naive woman may be just who he needs.
I was happy to continue the Boston mob stories with the first Montavio offering. Most of the Rossi's will make an appearance and I am betting Eden's sister will eventually capture her own heartthrob - as soon as she is old enough.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This is a very interesting and intelligent read. Eden comes from escaping a cult type religion. I had never read a book from that angle before. The twist it’s given was very different and actually, I wondered if this particular angle of the story would ever be true!!! Sergio Montavio is the Don of his own family and they are Cousins to the Rossi Family of Boston and these two families are very close, as big Italian families tend to be. I loved this! The tension that exists between Sergio & Eden, a stray off the street (literally) is very steamy. I love the interactions between the two families. The loyalty and love between them feels so real! These characters are fully formed and OTT and spring to life within the first chapter. Eden has so much to reveal about her past before she is able to find her happiness. My heart broke for her during many of her struggles. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Mafia, fairy tales or just likes to peek under the hardcore, glittery covers of a Love story. Underneath all that is a tale of family and belonging. Well done to this Author on a excellent story.
Eden and her sister, Starla live in the fellowship a cult like place. Eden was married to Seth at a very young age. She knows that things aren’t right in her life and wants to get her sister away from their situation. She sets out to find a job and earn the money to free her sister. On the way she meets Quinn a worldly woman who befriends and looks after her as Eden has no knowledge of the modern world. When they reach their destination Quinn and Eden go their separate ways. Eden, alone exhausted and penniless stumbles into a club and a bedroom where she falls asleep. This is where Sergio leader of the Montavio Brotherhood, the owner of the club finds her the next morning. He’s amazed by her presence, her beauty and her innocence. He offers her a job cooking for his club which Eden gratefully accepts. It comes with the room she was asleep in. Sergio is fascinated by Eden and Eden is attracted to Sergio. So begins their relationship and Eden’s efforts to earn the money to return and free her sister from the fellowship. This is now my favorite Jane Henry novel, but I can’t wait to read Starla and Timeo’s tale.
I'm so glad we are getting books about the Montavio family, I have always enjoyed reading about them in previous books. This book was all about Sergio, and I loved his attitude, how protective he is, is so dominant and family is everything to him. Sergio stumbles upon Eden when she falls asleep at his new club. Eden had quite the backstory, it was interesting having such a innocent, sweet character. She was raised in a cult and loved the attention to detail with this character and how new technology was for her but how not having all the new technology almost gave her more freedom. Sergio isn't a patient man but when it came to Eden, he had all the patience in the world. Eden didn't even realize the impact she was having on Sergio. Eden might be sweet and nice, but she has a fire in her that was never squashed thank goodness. It was amazing reading about how Eden saw herself and how much more secure she became in herself and knew what she was worth. She is the perfect submissive for Sergio. Sergio never had the intention of falling in love with anyone, but Eden made him change all his views. Sergio will do everything in his power to keep Eden and her sister safe. It was great that other characters from previous books are in this one. I'm looking forward to hopefully reading about Eden's sister and how her life goes on. It always is a good book when the big bad mafia man falls to his knees for a woman. Another detail I really enjoyed were the titles of the chapters.
My favorite quotes: "When you recognize your own self-worth, when you know how worthy you are of love you're untouchable. Because no one's criticism, anger or hatred can hurt you."
"I don't deserve a woman like you, but I'll spend the rest of my life striving to be the man you deserve."
I was so excited when I heard Jane was bringing a series about the Montavio Brothers! I just loved them in the prior series of the Rossi Brothers.
Sergio has always put the family first as the head of Montavio Family. He knows what is expected of him and what he needs to do to make his family stronger. He's feared by all his men but is fair. He never expected nor wanted to marry but understood that it was necessary Then he meets Eden, and she takes his breath away. He's never met anyone like her, never thought he'd be interested in someone like her.
Eden came from such a troubled past that she was still fighting. She's sweet and kinda funny even though the things she says aren't meant to be funny, lol. I really liked that even though Eden has this innocence and tries never to tell lies, she is so strong. She runs away from the bad with the intention of going back to save her sister. She finds herself and her strength!
I'm so glad Sergio and Eden found love. They deserved it. All the twists and surprises, plus more time with the Rossi family, was excellent!
