I started reading this series in 2016 - a decade of unadulterated, laugh out loud, magical reading. The cast of characters is astounding - the humour is mixed with detailed character observation, hilarious situations, wonderful names, intricate plots (most of which are resolved in each story, mixed with long running plot lines). Supernaturals and magic - talking animals, ghosts, quirky humans and quirkier Sups - family dynamics, murder, mystery and mayhem. I look forward to every new book in the series, with unalloyed pleasure.

It felt as if this book is getting back to the things I liked most about the series. It's as if Jill is finally growing up a little, though she still manages to get into scrapes and have to fast talk or magic herself out of them. Her cases this time were less silly and more meaningful. There was closure to one of her long standing investigations along with a new, even more sinister one. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens. I hate when books end of such a huge cliffhanger!
