John Greyward looked forward to work every night. Since Angel became a mom and got married to Caleb. He had the pleasure of now running The Pyramid club with their third partner Charlie Jordan. Charlie carried herself with quiet beauty and she was a knack with numbers while he ran the floor. But after the doors closed and quiet reigned all he wanted to do was to kiss the sexy brown goddess with the blond streaks in her hair.
John got knocked for a loop when Charlie asked him a question that would change both their lives. Be the father of the baby she desperately wanted before she lost the chance completely. John was already falling hard for the woman he called a friend, so the choice was easy to say yes. While she wanted a baby, John wanted the whole package including the woman who carried his child. But what he wanted may not be even a consideration with Charlie. She had her reasons for choosing to be a single mother and John found out quickly that there was much more her than he knew. If John was anything, he was determined and planned to knock down every obstacle Charlie put in his way.
I really enjoyed this super sweetm super cute novella. It reminded me of the harlequin's i read as a teenager. A little bit of partners to friends to lovers. No angst. Great friends. The story made me smile and overall feel really good that Charlie got her baby and her man John.
This was a great friends to lover story. It wasn't filled with drama. It was super sweet and romantic. Charlie and John were already friends and love grew from that strong foundation. They were able to move out of the "friends zone" trying to avoid a potential tragedy and I loved how that all played out on paper. This book was just what I needed in the midst of my not so great work week. Good job!!!
I have read many books by this author and still enjoy reading her baby stories.
John and Charlie's story is a loving, tender read. The stereotyping of Charlie because she is a light skinned black woman and the prejudice she has to put up with from her own pulled at my heart strings because I know it happens in real life. Bad enough having to take that rubbish from bigoted racists but when your own race does it to you, it is so ugly. John kicks the perpetrator's ass and hands it back to him. Loved that!
I really like that the mc was friends first before entering a serious relationship. It was a great basis to ground their relationship. There was also a lot of self reflection from the characters which created excellent character development. The chemistry was also intense.
Beautiful and very well thought out from start to finish. I've never been in this situation before or knew someone that was...I applaud these women and their courage to take control of their lives... Something that now today is out of our control...Hmmm
I so love Dahlia Rose pregnancy romance books. I feel so at awe with Charlie and John. I love the power of the story, I got emotional with Charlie's decision. Just knowing John stood behind her decision, makes you feel so enlightened about their relationship.
