This was a short story- could be one chapter in a book- but it was so so so so cute!! Ugh, I just love Abby Jimenez so much! 💕

I would absolutely read the book if she wrote more and turned it into one. I needed to refresh my memory on who the characters were as they were side characters in a few of her central novels, but once I put the puzzle pieces together, it made Derek and Lola’s meet-cute even more adorable!!

This was a cute little tie in and a bridge between The Happy Ever After Playlist and Part of Your World universes.
I missed the connection between the series and this brought it full circle for me!

This is a short story that explains how Derek, Alexis' twin brother in "Part of Your World", meets Nikki/Lola, the pop star from "The Happy Ever After Playlist". It's free when you subscribe to the author's email list (I only signed up to get this free story). Derek appears briefly at the beginning of Part of Your World.

The story takes place in Cambodia, where both Nikki and Derek are involved in humanitarian work following a typhoon. Nikki is volunteering at a women’s shelter, while Derek is working as a doctor, providing medical assistance to people affected by the disaster. Nikki is a successful singer but the story gives more attention to the person behind her public image (there's no mention of her career). Away from her career and celebrity status, she is focused on helping the women at the shelter. Derek, being in Cambodia, shows his commitment to helping people in difficult circumstances. It was a quick read.

This was my first time reading Abby Jimenez's work, and it left a good first impression!

A short and cute story about the first meeting of Nikki and Derek, a pop star (though not immediately apparent if you read this without background from Part of Your World like I did - I have since read said book) and a plastic surgeon.

Although Nikki doesn't have a great impression of Derek at first, she soon warms up to him as they find a connection.

Spice: None, contrary to its being tagged with smut for some reason. Although, there is a mention of male genitalia.
Swearing: Not really, but there's a mild British English swear?

pues tenía razón. en inglés, la prosa de abby jimenez es mucho más interesante que la traducción de parte de tu mundo (aunque, de nuevo, me parece bastante normalita, que no mala). lo tendré en cuenta para el futuro.
la historia de derek y nikki me parece mucho más interesante que la de alexis y daniel (he tenido que pararme a pensar sus nombres y eso que terminé el libro ayer). osea, un cirujano plástico de médicos sin fronteras y una cantante de pop caída en desgracia que se enamoran mientras hacen una misión humanitaria en camboya? dame más. se me ha hecho bastante corta (el relato solo presenta el primer encuentro de los personajes) para toda la chicha que pueden tener estos dos (sobre todo, con las pinceladas que deja parte de tu mundo), y me da rabia que no haya ni un solo fanfic en ao3 para satisfacer mi curiosidad.

This one wrapped me up in feelings and refused to let go.

This story had that cozy, healing, start-over energy that Abby Jimenez does so beautifully.

You know when a romance isn’t just romance — it’s about finding yourself again after life knocks you down a few times?

Yeah. That’s this book.

And the slow burn???
PERFECTION.

Every conversation mattered.
Every little moment built into something bigger.

By the time the romance really hit, I was already fully emotionally invested and basically whispering “please be happy” at the pages like a concerned parent.

Comfort book status honestly.
