I laughed and bit my lip. “You want to take me out?”
He crossed his arms over his broad chest. “Yeah. I do. I like beautiful philanthropic women from Wisconsin who dislike me on sight. I have a very specific type.”
I let out a laugh. Then I tucked a stray hair behind my ear. “Okay.” I nodded, feeling shy and vulnerable for some reason in a way I hadn’t in a very long time. A part of me that had been closed for years, opening just a little. “I would like that.”
He smiled. A dazzling, gorgeous, handsome smile.
A healer of scars...
Everything happens for a reason.

This was so sweet and cute! I need more of Lola and Derek!

This is another short story that I wished was a full novel. Derek and Nikki’s chemistry is amazing. I would love to see more of their blooming relationship and their work with Doctors Without Borders.

I wish we got a whole book about Derek and Nikki, but sharing how they met was beautiful.

This was an ok novella. i didn’t really remember who this characters were at the start, and then was ok…I love anything this woman writes…

*Quotes I liked*

He was an anesthesiologist, which was ironic, because I literally couldn't think of anyone less ideal to be unconscious around.

He was a tourist. Here on the pretense that he was going to do some humanitarian thing that he was only doing because it would look good on his resume.

Gave me a fancy new nickname on the way out and everything. I like it. Lets everyone know I've got red hair and an above average penis size.

looked like something a princess would use lounging on a chaise.

"I'm here because all roads led to here." ❤️

"When you have so little control over your own life, even the small choices made in a loophole are precious. Because they're the only ones that are truly yours." ❤️

“you stay in hell because the street signs are familiar? But you still get to pick the streets you take. And sometimes, if you're lucky, the right road leads out."

"You want to take me out?"
"Yeah. I do. I like beautiful philanthropic women from Wisconsin who dislike me on sight. I have a very specific type."

Oh this one???
This one wrapped me up in feelings and refused to let go.

This story had that cozy, healing, start-over energy that Abby Jimenez does so beautifully.

You know when a romance isn’t just romance — it’s about finding yourself again after life knocks you down a few times?

Yeah. That’s this book.

And the slow burn???
PERFECTION.

Every conversation mattered.
Every little moment built into something bigger.

By the time the romance really hit, I was already fully emotionally invested and basically whispering “please be happy” at the pages like a concerned parent.

Comfort book status honestly.

How can such a short story suck me in so quickly and make me swoon?!? I read it twice. Wish we had a cover like we do for The Situationship.

I would have loved to see more of their story, it didn’t have as much suspense or build up as other abby’s books.

Another one of those short stories that I would have loved to see a full novel off. Derek and Nikki are too cute. It fits the trilogy so well.

To be honest, it's too long ago for me to remember who these characters are. But it was quite a cute chapter.

Derek & Nikki (Lola)

This sweet chapter goes into their story and it’s just funny, bantery, and plain lovely.

Maybe my memory fails me but I have no idea how this connects to the Part of Your World series. It was a cute read though. Impactful.
