Logan moved to Westfield a year ago. This season, he'll be playing against some of his old friends. Will they see him as a traitor? Will he be able to be loyal to his new team without making his old friends mad?
Who is Jake Maddox? Athlete, author, world-traveler–or all three? He has surfed in Hawaii, scuba-dived in Australia, and climbed the mountains of Peru and Alaska. His books range from the most popular team sports to outdoor activities to survival adventures and even to auto racing. His exploits have inspired numerous writers to walk in his footsteps–literally! Each of his stories is stamped with teamwork, fair play, and a strong sense of self-worth and discipline. Always a team-player, Maddox realizes it takes more than one man (or woman) to create a book good enough for a young reader. He hopes the lessons learned on the court, field, or arena and the champion sprinter pace of his books can motivate kids to become better athletes and lifelong readers.
I really liked this book because it is hard for me to find a football book and football is my favorite sport. This book is about a boy that moved and had to leave his football team and he was sad because they were his best friends. He was at least glad that he did not have to play them but then the schedule changed he had to go against them. He was not playing his best because he missed playing with the team and not against it. After halftime his teammate gave him a pep talk saying how it is all about playing football and having fun and if he is not trying than his friends might as well play on the easiest level. After they won the game his friend from his ex team talked to him and congratulated him. He now was able to still be friends with his old friend and he met two new friends from his new team. At the end the three of them went out after the game to get tacos and watch a scary movie.
Logan has just recently moved from River City to westfield. Logan spent most of his first days at Westfield in his basement watching tv. He is also at the Football field almost everyday after school, and when he gets home he goes to his room and does homework or to his basement and watches tv.
The main character in this story is Logan Meltzer. Logan loves playing football so he signed up for the Westfield wildcats and made the team. His position is defensive linebacker, And is big and strong making him perfect for his position. Logan makes a friend named Andrew, the wide receiver for the westfield wildcats. Andrew invites him to sit with him and the rest of the football team but Logan says maybe another time.
The problem in this story is when Logan has to play against his old football team with his old friends that he feels like he abandoned them. In that football game Logan doesn't try his hardest and looks slow and slobbish. This is because he doesn't want to tackle his old friends because he doesn't want them to lose the game or think Logan isn't his friend anymore. But after Andrew gives Logan a pep talk at half time, Logan starts to play as hard as he can and wins his team the game. This book is great because it's about football and I love reading about football. I give it an 8 out of 10.
