Split Me In Two: A Dark MM Thriller

Rate this book
Men come to Dr. Elias Vexley to spill their secrets.

His voice is calm… his movement careful. He’s always in control… but he’s never sat across from a beast like me... at least not in this form.

I didn’t walk into his office looking to be saved.

No… I came to break him... open. To Split Him... In Two… to make him... MINE.

Therapy? Please.... That’s the mask. What’s underneath... is flesh... blood... hunger. It’s raw... it's untamed.. it's violent… It’s VEX. I'm on VexMode, and I can't stop.

We have an understanding… a Code .

Every word between us is a weapon… every touch is fire. Vex is gasoline to my flame, but Elias is so sweet… so malleable… so easy to corrupt.

I love it.

Elias thinks he’s pulling me apart. He has no idea I’ve already seen what’s inside him… and it’s ready to feast.

Split Me in Two is a dark MM psychological thriller about control, obsession, and the danger of giving yourself to a man who won’t ever let you go.

"He clings to routine like armor. But it only takes a whisper from you. A look. A pause too long".

In the beginning, we're introduced to psychologist Elias Vexley, who has a new patient, Lucien Ward, via a private referral. After meeting for the first time, Elias can't remember anything about the next two days.

We quickly learn that Elias has an alter ego, Vex, who is very familiar with Lucien. Let the cat and mouse games begin!

As other reviewers have said, the story does feature CNC and unaliving people (most who deserved it).

The pacing of the story is great, making for a quick and easy read. Before diving into the story, I did read an About Me of the author from a website that states "her stories resonate with those who crave tales of love found in the shadows". I couldn't have worded this any better. Between the obsessive MMC, intriguing character development and intense spice (including CNC)...I became immersed in the story.

I'm still revisiting the ending of the story to make sure I thoroughly grasped everything correctly. I look forward to what may come next.

Now for the very minimal negatives:

There were moments that I struggled with the flow of the multiple POVs (specifically Elias and Vex). That's the main reason I deducted a star. However, this may be due to the reading environment I had around me which caused me to lose focus, so please just take my comment here with a grain of salt.

Secondly, in my opinion, the author may benefit from a Beta reader in the future. There's one scene that I think didn't chronologically make sense (one scene out of 400+ pages... so, again, no big deal) and a couple typographical errors/sentence structure issues. This does NOT impact the story or readability. Also, they're completely easy to overlook! So, I DO NOT hold this against the author or the rating of the book.

Overall, I recommend checking this book out! Check your triggers and, if it's something you might be interested in, support the author! :)

Wow!!

This is my first foray into the world of a MM psy-op book and I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the trip!

The journey begins with Dr. Elias Vexley, who is a clinical psychologist within a private practice group, and Lucien Ware, a client with a private referral and a history of mental illness. This is where the cat and mouse play begins.

As the story develops, the reader learns that Lucien and Elias have a sordid history via Vex, Elias's alter ego. His alter very distinctive, one is very dangerous and destructive, the other, meek and mild. They “front” without warning.

Elias finds that he loses time, has memory gaps, and experiences internal conflict with past memories, flashbacks of BDSM play with its physical indicators. Even though Lucien is introduced as the patient who needs help, the tables turn and he becomes the “doctor,” who dispenses his type of “medication.”  Lucien's “medication,” CNC, murder, just to name a few.

The secondary characters bring in the back story and help flesh out why Lucien, Elias, and Vex are in this three way love affair.

The sex scenes are intense and yes, they are graphic.

The ending, well, let's just say that I was not ready for the TWIST! This is where I almost threw my phone…lol

Im guessing that this will be the opening for a series of books, exploring this dynamic and its characters. I will patiently await the expansion of this universe.

I rated this up to 3 stars but I actually want to give it 2.5. I really wanted to like this book more but unfortunately I found it underwhelming and very confusing. It’s clear the main characters know each other but there was no allusions as to HOW or WHY. Even the switching of POV would confuse me as far as timelines. The idea was interesting enough for me to finish, but it wasn’t fully fleshed out.

When the therapist is just as broken as the patient

What starts as therapy sessions quickly spirals into obsession, sex, and murder. The erotic scenes are deliciously intense and they add to the psychological aspects of the story. If you enjoy stories that are dark and psych thrillers…you’ll enjoy this.

This is one of those books that’s hard for me to leave a review without giving up any spoilers. What I can say is that not everything is as it seems. The characters you think you can trust, you can’t. There are a lot of secrets and unsavory motives behind the actions of some. So many questions – which is something I love in a book! If you’re looking for a sweet romance – this ain’t it! This is dark, gritty, twisted and deliciously depraved

Lucian, Vex and Elias are the MC’s. Each one is a walking red flag. And through all the twists and turns, it works. I liked Lucian from the start and it only grew the more I read. I wasn’t sure about Vex, but by the end of the book I was hooked. And Elias…oh sweet baby, Elias…my heart broke a bit for him with what he was going through. I can’t wait to see what happens next with them!

The ending tied things up somewhat, but it definitely left me wanting more. I have so many questions! As always, check the triggers. If you are the type of reader that has no triggers, then dive right in – this one is worth it!

You want to know the difference between danger and desire? One lets you breathe, and the other makes you forgets how.

I really enjoyed this book. This book takes you into the minds of two people who are both pretty much psychopaths, one claims it and the other not really knowing what or who is he. I love Lucien's darkness and his possessiveness over Elias. I also enjoyed seeing the switch between Eli and Vex. Even though Vex is extremely different than Elias.

The end was something that I am still trying to process and work out. But overall I really enjoyed this and kinda hoping for more from Elias, Vex, and Lucien.

I received this book as an ARC and was excited to dive into a good MM romance. The spice was definitely on point, and there were some great moments between the characters. However, I struggled to follow the story—even around the 60% mark, I still found myself confused about where the plot was headed. Everything did come together by the end, but I caught myself skimming through sections to get there. Overall, it’s a steamy MM read that will appeal to some, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

A dark and intense psych thriller with seductively dangerous characters.
This book is not for the faint of heart with graphic, and sordid sex scenes, and a story line which appeals to the vigilante in all of us.
The author perfectly sets the ending up to explore a series featuring the main characters, and I am all for it!!!
I did find that I had to pay attention when reading, clear your schedule and prepare to get 100% engrossed in this sordid tale of lust, crime, and blurred boundaries.

I just wish the plot had kicked in sooner instead of being saved for the very end. But wow—this book was something else! When the therapist is just as broken as the patient and the spice is on point 🥵… this is hands down the best ARC I’ve read in a long time.

I did really enjoy this book but I also found it rather confusing. I felt like I was missing something for most of the book. It really felt like I picked up the second book in a series instead of the first. Very interesting ending though, will more than likely read a second if there is one.
