“I can’t resist. You are exactly my type. Now be a good pet and sit on my lap.”
Peter thought he'd always be too afraid to donate blood, until he met the reserved Draven. The only man he trusted, even if the man was oddly obsessed with Peter's neck and never smiled.
He was supposed to find a girlfriend at the campus Halloween party. No one could resist a sexy vampire. Not even Peter - and there Draven was, fangs bared in a grin, too irresistible to ignore.
Halloween was the perfect time to give in to his bi-curious side. He didn't expect Draven to be so electric. So dominant. Like he wanted to devour Peter down to the last drop.
Peter had never felt so desired - it was love at first bite.
Part of the Halloween Temptation Multi-Author Series
This Halloween, carve out some time to enjoy some frightfully spicy stories. Don’t be afraid, none of it is real… or so our boys tell themselves. But if they face their fear, if they give into temptation, they’re in for an eerie-sistible first time. And if they’re lucky, find love - as a treat.
I had a vision, a vision of my nails in the kitchen / Scratchin' counter tops, I was screamin' / My back arched like a cat, my position couldn't stop, you were hittin' (Stargirl Interlude – The Weeknd feat. Lana Del Rey).
I'm sad because I’ve never been able to say that classic line, “I’ve been really getting into [blank] recently” in regards to vampire media because I don’t see them as genre specific. They're not as limited in scope or as contextual as zombies are because if you want, you can put a vampire into any kind of story. Put a blood sucker in a coming-of-age book like This Isn’t a Vampire Story or a pure YA romance like Simon Snow and I wouldn’t even bat an eye! Get it? Because vampires turn into bats? Anyway, all I’m saying is that even though I’ve technically been really into vampire stuff recently, from reading books like The Vampire Lestat and Carry On to watching movies like The Last Voyage of the Demeter, never for a second did I feel like I was delving into a vampire phase. Because let’s face it, these monsters aren’t seasonal and they’ve got an invitation into my home all year round! Hey, speaking of which, do you want to know the weirdest thing? I don't even like vampire stuff in a horny, Edward Cullen, kind of way! I know that’s wild, especially nowadays since the nightlife creatures have more often than not been recontextualized into misunderstood romantic figures, but I’ve always been more of a fan of their horror side than the tortured artist depiction. I know that a lot of people were enticed by Dracula’s put on charm in Dracula, but as someone whose only experience with the story were retellings of the vampire’s time aboard The Demeter (seriously, The Route of Ice and Salt by José Luis Zárate is a wonderful book), I’ve always understood the character as a vile monster. I mean, I don't think anybody thinks otherwise outside of Theodora Goss, but I'm just saying that vampires don't have as much bite as they used to. Stop edging us, where's the edge!? What I’m getting at is that while I love vampire stories, I think people have to be careful with the way they’re being used as allegories for queerness considering the most popular vampire in fiction is nothing more than a vicious predator, and by linking the two due to their similar “circumstances,” it sets an uncomfortable precedent. Look, I am aware that Carmilla is the original mold for what we've come to understand as vampires, and that the more romantic queer portrayal that was popularized by Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series took more inspiration from said source than Dracula. I do know a few things!
But yeah, all I’m just saying here is that we shouldn’t feel the need to be all like, “vampires have always had an inherent queerness to them” as a blanket statement without a second thought as to what that could possibly be implying. Don’t worry, I’m pretty sure this whole rant is going somewhere, that it'll come right back around to this book! But as I’ve said, I’ve always been a bigger fan of when vampires were used in a horror setting rather than a pure romance, and even though Interview with the Vampire had the sympathetic Louis de Pointe du Lac abhor his vampiric nature (one of the reasons why vampirism can so easily be attributed and related to one’s own queerness), it’s important to remember that he was the outlier, and that every other vampire, including Lestat, were slaves to their basest hunger. Sure, Lestat gets a bit of a retcon into more of a antihero, but he was awful in his original incarnation, all killing anybody with a reckless abandon that could in no way be seen as romantic. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that vampires as a whole are at their most interesting when the duality of their nature and the charm they present to the world are both equally put forth as inseparable parts of their respective character arc. Whether or not they’re struggling with this morality is what makes the undead creatures interesting, and if your story turns them into a pure romantic foil without that specific element or danger or amorality… then what’s the point? Why write about vampires if you’re not even interested in exploring any nuance? Might as well make them into any cookie cutter, Hallmark ass, vanilla boy you're actually interested in writing. You probably know where this is going, but Necking with a Vampire by Pat Lewis was just okay. It was a fun enough time, but outside of having a snappy little Goosebumps title, I really don’t see why this story had to include a vampire at all! Well… it's whatever, let’s just talk about the plot to this gay porn, because that's what I do now for some reason. Steve or Paul or Peter is a college aged dude with a fetish for gothic vampire shit and after his friend introduces him to some creepy guy who’s clearly a vampire named Draven. Then the vampire says, “I vant to suck your cock!” and Steve or Paul or Peter becomes his lover/thrall/consort or whatever.
No really, that’s it. That's all there is to the story! Sure, there’s a minor subplot that's supposed to pass as characterization where Steve or Paul or Peter is scared of needles (which highlights the irony of him necking with a vampire!) but it’s very quickly thrown by the wayside without a care in the world so we can get to the fucking and sucking and then the sucking in a vampire way. I'm just wondering, why even introduce this quirk to this guy if it isn't even an obstacle for him to overcome throughout the narrative? Yeah, I know this book "isn't about that, it's about the man-on-man action," but is it too much to ask for a book to adhere to things like character arcs? Just a question. Anyway, I was hoping I’d enjoy this a lot more because I really liked Pat Lewis’ other book called His First Deep Snow (I talk about this book way too much for how few people have read it) and it was nice how the author took the inspired route of focusing less on the romance and more on the lust aspects of the relationship. Trying to wax poetic about love and soulmates didn't fit the story, so the author didn't bother with it! I know that’s way too deep of a reading for a book about another dude getting way too deep in the other dude’s guts, but I’m just saying… the story’s lack of interest in romantic depth ironically helped to make it more impactful of a romance. I suppose that’s my biggest issue with Necking with a Vampire, as I was hoping for something a little less lovey-dovey and more primal and gritty. We are talking about vampires, right? And considering the only other book I’ve read by this author had exactly this, I don’t think I’m out of line in expecting this one to be follow the same baseline, the same groove. I guess I’m just over the whole “possessive ownership” thing being passed off as endearing and wholesome, and if you’re story is going to have a love-interesting acting in such a way, I’d like some acknowledgement of its toxicity. Not that I hate stories about toxic love, I just don't want it passed off like it's sweet! I don’t need an entire think-piece moralizing about what’s right and wrong, but I think Necking with a Vampire took a wrong turn when the author tried to portray Steve or Paul or Peter and Draven’s romance as being lovely when it should have been hungry and desperate and frightening. In other words... I wanted this book to be freak nasty, because isn’t that why we’re all into vampires in the first place, to indulge in a little danger?
"Something odd was happening tonight. Something dangerous. And Draven was involved somehow."
This is the first in a series of smutty & short Halloween tales. I've read many of the stories published by this author and was so excited to read this.
Peter, a bi-curious nursing student, is afraid of needles and also blood. His friend Alex tries to help him out by taking Peter to have his blood drawn by a hot, enigmatic guy who gives off vampire vibes.
Peter is drawn to Draven and finds him again and again to give blood. Peter becomes more and more comfortable and there are some sexy shenanigans til one night - Halloween - everything changes between them and a bond is formed.
There are so many cute and also spicy moments throughout this story - it's love at first bite and I enjoyed it very much. What a way to start off spooky October!
What to Expect: * Nursing student + possible vampire * bi-curious MC * fear of needles, fear of blood * neck obsession * Halloween party * first times * public sexy times * sex in a coffin * possessive MC * age gap * HEA
2.5⭐️ A short and fun novella about a college guy named Peter who wants to get over his fear of blood, and the vampire that helps him do it.
If you’re looking for something quick and easy to read, and like vampire MM books, then this one is for you. Though the writing quality isn’t great, and it’s pretty silly, I still had fun reading.
Peter's friend Alex was accompanying him to a bloodmobile to be a blood donor. He had always feared the process of giving blood, but Alex is trying to help him get over it. He was going to college to become a nurse and he had to get over his fear of needles and blood. He had expected they would go to the usual red or white vehicle, not an ominous black one with darkened windows! He remembered hearing rumors this was the vampire blood merchant's truck, but Alex assured him vampires were not real. They walked up to a tall man and Alex introduced Draven to Peter. Alex waited in a chair outside while Draven and Peter went inside the vehicle. Peter sat in a comfortable chair and looked up at the "fake" bats hanging from the ceiling. Dravan asked if he could identify each type, an effective way of distracting Peter through concentrating on the bats he is so fond of. He was told to keep his eyes up and call them out. Draven mentioned one of them had been injured a few days ago... which confused Peter a little. A slight pinch in his arm was all he felt as he continued to look up at the fascinating bat collection. At one point, he thought Draven was about to kiss him, but he announced he was all finished! So Peter figured he was probably just trying to fluster people with his "vampire act".
A Halloween party was being held on campus and Peter had to get a date. Peter has always been fascinated with bats and the vampire stories. Imagining Draven as a vampire thrills him, although he knows that would be impossible. But he finds Draven is attending the party. Will his fondest wish become a reality after all? Or will they simply remain friends?
When I heard about this special Halloween series, I couldn't wait for October to start so I could start reading these books. How lucky I am to be able to read an arc so I can enjoy this book before October.
The book starts cute with his friend embarrassing Peter to help him get over his fear of needles and blood by taking him to Draven to give blood. Embarrassing him some more by telling Draven is hot and Peter should use him to be his first bi curious experience. The blood giving is all set up in a vampire setting, a thing Peter is into, making it better for him.
I like the slow going between the two, until the night of Halloween. Peter searches for Draven and tries to give hints that he wants to go further.
But the night of Halloween what happened there was such a nice and steamy read. Worth the waiting and building up to.
Only "bad" thing about the book? It could have had more chapters about what was happening after Halloween.
This is a vampire x human supernatural romance novella, featuring Peter and Draven, and is book one in the Halloween Temptation multi-author series.
Peter never expected to find himself falling for the mysterious Draven, a reserved man with an obsession for his neck and a secret hidden behind sharp fangs.
What starts as a bi-curious Halloween fling quickly turns into an irresistible, electric connection that feels like love at first bite.
This was such a fun, spicy little Halloween read. Peter and Draven’s connection was instant, with just the right mix of playful, dark, and sexy. This one was short, steamy, and perfect for spooky season.
Things to expect in this book are: Book 1 Multi-author series MM supernatural romance Novella Age gap Halloween party Vampire x Human Blood/neck obsession Bi curious Dom vibes First times Spicy times Coffin s*x Love at first sight/bite HEA
A cute read Peter has always dreamed of being a nurse, but he has a major problem. He doesn’t like needles and he doesn’t like blood so his friend takes him to a blood drop van and this is where he meets Draven. And this starts a kind of friendship with Draven. Peter looks out for him all the time so he can go back and be near him. He’s the only person who has distracted him enough to take Blood and for Peter not to faint. He has also opened up his bisexual awakening . When it’s coming up to Halloween Draven asked if he’s going to the party and Peter confirms he’s going and this is when everything weird starts to happen every thought the Peter has had of Draven comes through. There is a cuteness to this book to go with the vampires and the werewolves who knew they were real. I’ve got to say it was an enjoyable read. It’s a quick read spicy and hot a good part of this Halloween series.

Peter is a future nurse who has a fear of needles and blood, which is a bit of a hindrance for his aspirations. Draven is a mysterious man who owns a blood donation van. So when Draven is the only one who Peter can give blood to without fainting, Peter has to find out if that's a one off or if he can do it consistently. Of course trying with anyone else just leads to fainting... but it works with Draven. There are all kinds of very interesting twists and turns and we find out if Draven really is a vampire or not - I'm not saying either way, you'll need to read it to find out! But the story is fun and has a lot of warmth in all the best ways.

Peter wants to be a nurse but can’t seem to get over his squeamishness around needles and blood. His friend Alex takes him to a blood mobile to assist him. The man running the blood draw is handsome and very sexy. Draven is able to distract Peter while drawing blood. In fact, he’s so successful that Peter goes back again and again convincing himself that it’s for the assistance and not because he’s bi-curious.
Peter secretly hopes the sexy goth phlebotomist is a vampire even though he knows they aren’t real. Or are they?
***** POV… third person
Standalone or series… standalone in multi author series
What to do when you are a nursing student and can't stand needles or the sight of blood? Go to a blacked out van to get blood drawn by a hot guy of course. Peter is so cute with his inability to draw blood due to his, well fainting. Draven is a pro with distraction and needles. I enjoyed this novella that brings together a nursing student and older vampire. Their relationship starts slowly and builds to a friendship through blood donations. Fun and perfect for Halloween.
A fun Halloween read. A somewhat naive Peter 'donates' blood to a vampire without realizing he is real. Peter is very attracted to him anyway and the feeling is mutual. Some laugh out loud moments keep you rooting for the HAE for these two. I thought it ended too soon and would have liked to have seen what happened next.

A short halloween story with Draven, a vampire, and Peter who's human. Peter is terrified of needles and blood which is a problem since he wants to be a nurse. Draven is the only one he trusts so Peter goes to Draven's donation van to give blood. Peter is very fascinated with bats and vampires and wishes for Draven to be one, even if he doesn't believe it's possible. At halloween he meets up with Draven at a party and from then on Peter's biggest wish becomes reality. An all-consuming spicy short story with bi awakening, age gap and of course necking. I loved it.
Peter has a fear of having his blood drawn which makes it hard to be a nurse. He goes to donate blood to the guy they call the Vampire Blood Merchant, Draven. He makes him feel special and is able to draw Peter's blood. In this Halloween short, Peter finds all he's looking for in Draven who falls completely for him also. I received a copy of this through BookSprout and this is my voluntary opinion.
As with much of this Authors writing, it vivid, clear and strong. We get a well structured and put together book that you enjoy reading and finishing. For an enjoyable read that will leave you with a smile and wanting more, enjoy this short story.

Necking with a Vampire is about Peter who is afraid about needles and he is studying to be nurse, so his friends know blood donation place were Peter can learn how to donate blood without fainting. Peter comes always back to donate blood to Draven, who is a vampire.
Very good quick smutty read.

Had a very interesting story line with plenty of interesting spice. My biggest complaint is i want more of the main couple and this story wasn't enough for me.

I honestly loved this book. It's what I can describe as a fast paced romance. It's definitely different than other books by this author given that it's a pnr, but still carries the signature steam of all his books. I absolutely loved it! It's a great holiday read!
Vampire necking was not on my list of kinky tropes, but alas, here we are. I'm definitely not leaving! What better way to get over a fear than by getting under the savior?.
