The story of Annie Oakley is more than a story of a female sharpshooter at the end of the 1800's. It's the story of a young girl, a young lady with a great set of morals, loyalty to family and friends, the drive to rise out of poverty, loss, and abuse, to become one of the greatest sharpshooters of all time. Sad to say, I really didn't know much about Annie Oakley before reading this short book other than the little I knew or thought I knew from TV and movies. This is definitely a book for all ages.
One of the better volumes in this series. Oakley's nickname "Little Sure-shot" is mentioned several times but not the fact that Sitting Bull is the one who gave her that name and was a close friend.
