Deadly Sins: Gluttony

Rate this book
Gideon Belmont never wanted to return to Hollow Pines—or to the crumbling bakery his late mother left behind. Inheriting her failing business only unearthed the ghosts of his youth, and the cruel nickname that clung to him like a curse—Gluttonous Gideon.

But with the business sliding deeper into ruin, Gideon makes the grim choice to come home and close its doors forever. As night settles over the town and he turns the shop’s sign from open to closed, the red velvet curtains stir, and he senses a presence lingering in the dark.

In a town where silence holds its own dark voice, the past has returned, and he’s about to learn an unfortunate lesson. Someone has been harboring a grudge of their own, and for Gideon, endings don’t come easy in a town that never forgets.

this was shorter than the others, but just as good. Gideon never wanted to return to his home town of Hollow Pines, but thanks to the passing of his mom, and her leaving him the bakery, he is here. He makes the decision to close the bakery for good since it's not turning a profit. He is killed the night he is closing for good.
Sloane and her husband Cade are in town for the Spooktember fest and find Gideon's body. The sheriff comes across as a macho jerk. Gideon's sister hires Sloane to help find who killed her brother. There was a lot packed in this short book, but done very well.
I have missed Sloane working with Cade. Really enjoyed this.

This book (novella) was a great, fast read. A man is shot dead in the bakery he owns, his widow shows up and the family knew nothing of his marriage. Family members are conflicted as Sloane is hired by his sister to find the killer. This is all taking place in a Soutnern town where a vision of a dead woman shows herself to the locals. After the murder was solved, Sloane and her husband leave the town only for Sloane to see the apparition of the woman as they leave. Very good, short read.

This was a novella, so a quick read, but it wasn’t short on the suspense. Good character development and a surprising villain. Sloane Monroe always finds who she is looking for and solves the mystery. I’ve read all Ma. Bradshaw’s books in every genre. Never disappointed.

Great quick read mystery series. These short stories have a great detective, and are as fun to read as a longer novel. Can be read stand alone, but I suggest reading the entire series! Bradshaw's writing is captivating and smooth to read. Great mystery, surprise ending.

Excellent book. The premise made sense and the characters were consistent. I always feel like I’m in these small towns and know these characters. She brings you into the scenes with them.
