Nashville Heat was the first book in the Nashville series by Bethany Michaels. It was also my first book by the author.

Sydney Stratton was a struggling writer / musician working multiple jobs in Nashville until she could find her big break. Dex Wilder was a new country star and known as a playboy who sings about drinking and partying.

Nashville Heat was a sweet story depicting the struggles to fame. It was written from a single POV, Sydney’s. I liked the premise of the story, but I desired more. I loved Dex felt there was something under the surface to him and would have loved his POV for more complexity and dimension. Additionally, I liked Sydney and understood her perspective, but felt she was a bit shallow or short sighted. It came together at the end but would have liked the depth and intensity underneath.

Otherwise, it was a quick, steamy, sweet and entertaining read. Becca seemed like a trip and she’s up next in Nashville Naughty.

It was fine except for the bit where the heroine gives up her dream of stardom to write music behind the scenes. She does it with no remorse or much thought. The trope of women giving up on careers they love and struggle for a man makes me angry. Can't we send more empowering messages to women?

Acord doar 3.5 stele acestei carti.

3.5 "Fun-to-read" Stars

Sometimes a simple visit to romanceland is all it takes to put a smile on this reader's face. That’s exactly what I found in Bethany Michaels’ “Nashville Heat” and it was a freebie to boot! Quick, short and fun read on a Sunday afternoon with a cast of easy to like characters and steamy encounters set in country music’s exciting city of Nashville. One has already found fame and the other is still striving with every ounce of strength to gain it. A chance encounter puts them face-to-face and the sparks fly and the music begins to seduce. Although there is an instantaneous attraction between them, it takes some time, space, and a little heartbreak to get it all together for the HEA – but it’s a nice one with all the notes blending in perfect pitch.

Sydney and Dex share a steamy one night stand together.

That's it - until singer/songwriter Sydney sneaks backstage one night at a country gig to give her demo to a producer. Instead of a producer, she meets Dex, who is now on his way to superstardom - and they're all over each other again.

This was fine - I wanted pure escapism and I got it. I didn't like Sydney and I didn't like the humming and hawing over whether she wanted to be with Dex or not. I'm usually a fan of the will-they-won't-they stuff but this was more kinda shit-or-get-off-the-pot.

It was fine, it distracted me during an otherwise difficult week so I was grateful to have it!

A new-to-me author and it was a great introduction.

The story flows very well, with developed characters.

I thought the periphery characters played important roles, helping to make the story more believable.

I enjoyed the premise of an up=coming Country star, 'working' to pay the rent whilst trying to get heard within the Music Industry, and thought this was very true based on friends experiences doing the same thing.

Our heroine Sydney finds herself interacting with guests at a part, where she is working, and whilst she is a good girl, hell bent on doing the right thing, she does allow herself to get swept up in the moment, with the fiction of meeting and enjoying the company of someone famous.

The famous guy is a new to the Country Music scene, hot shot, with a sexy reputation. Dex Wilder, our Hero.

I think Dex felt more of their instant connection, and wanted to act on it a lot more than Sydney, although their 'meeting' were very hot and steamy.

Sydney did not want to be just another girl, and closed herself off, letting her head rule her heart.

I loved her meddling mum, and that Sydney wouldn't tell her to drop it - the meddling, the match making! I was glad that she did come through for her daughter though.

I was also glad that Sydney let Dex finally under her skin, they were quite sweet together and a lot sexy!

I'm already popping into grab the remainder of the series, itching to read about Sydney's band mate Dillon and her best friend Becca.

Nashville Heat, is a fairly quick read with a believable 'real life' edge to the story, of two people making their mark in the Music Industry, meeting and falling for each other, whilst trying to protect themselves from heartache along the way.

Sweet read

This book by a new to me author was a good one. It was short but sweet, a quick, sexy, steamy, fun book about a country singer, Dex, who ends his Nashville night hooking up with a girl, dressed in a toga, serving drinks at an industry party!!! He's very interested!

Sassy Sydney is that girl, a lead singer herself, with her band, Road Kill, recently having moved to Nashville, hoping to be discovered like everyone else in that town. Dex's star is on the rise while hers is non- existent, playing dive bars & waiting tables. She is hoping & trying to break thru & become noticed, but it's so hard.

Fast forward 2 years & Syd is still stuck in her boring life, getting nowhere with her musical career while the gorgeous & talented DeX Wilder is is a household name having reached unbelievable success already. Their paths cross again in Nashville, it's clear he's not forgotten her, even if it was only a one night stand to her. But, Sydney hasn't forgotten the hot cowboy with the sexy voice either but thinks he's way out of her league, doesn't trust his feelings for her, thinks she just another notch on his womanizing bed post. She doesn't need a hot man to complicate her life right now.

Sydney lets the tabloids color her opinion on Dex even if she's seen his real, true self, not the 'star' the world see's. Some bad press of them together has painted a slutty picture of her, sends her running from Dex..again. She's always running, he's always chasing but will this game become old eventually for Dex? Will distancing herself from his fame make the movers & shakers in Nashville take notice of her talent & judge her music seriously in her own right or will they think she is just sleeping her way to the top? She has to find out, but will she pay a higher price for this independence?

Read this one, it's so great to have a light, fun book to pick up your spirits at the end of the day. Not too much drama, just enough of everything to keep you going to the finish.

If you prefer characters getting to know each other and building attraction, this book is not for you. Sex happens in chapter 1, which I guess is supposed to be “hot” but since I don’t know or care about the characters yet, it just felt trashy. Sex also occurs in chapter 2, even though the characters (still) know nothing about each other. That’s where I almost stopped reading. But I didn’t, and it got marginally better. We see Sydney’s struggles to be taken seriously as a singer/musician, she turns down an opportunity to sleep her way to the top, and she fails to win a pivotal contest. All of this could have been good and I sorta started to respect her and then… Dex shows up and it’s mindless sex again. Dex claims he can “be himself” with Sydney even though they had only one date that wasn’t completely about sex. He never tries to defend his lifestyle, or reassure her she’s more than one of his bimbos. He’s bummer because he’s famous and can’t play the music he wants to play (didn’t buy it). It just didn’t work for me; this is not love, just lust. 2.5 stars.

I really wasn’t that crazy about this one.. she kind of seemed like a whore.. and what was the deal with the whore friend? She didn’t want to include her in exciting news but expected her to fight off that security guard so she could sleep with dex? And honestly.. what was the whole mindset about not wanting to get involved with him because then people would think he’s the reason she’s famous and not for her music? From a musicians standpoint it doesn’t really matter how the heck you get your name out there... popularity will get you people who will appreciate your music! Just dumb..

Great series start

I enjoyed this story. A break from my usual MC Series I read. This was a quick, fun read. Based in my favorite city of Nashville,. A chance enounter at a party puts these two together. Dex is already a star & Sydney is trying to make it in the business. Circumstances keep them apart & bring them back together. Even with the great hot & steamy attractions it takes them awhile to connect. But when they do sparks fly. They get their hea, pretty good for a free read.

Wow!!!! This is definitely a new favorite author for me! I love reading about Nashville and I love country music, so this is a win win for me! I loved Dex and Syd. Dex was so honest and sincere and HOT!! I actually started reading this book but then had to stop to read an ARC book for another author. Although I loved the other book, I couldn't get this book off of my mind and I couldn't wait to get back to it! I'm so excited to start a new series with this author and I highly recommend it!!!

A mature fairy tale romance between two musicians. Granted, each time they are alone together they wanna bang. I am also kinda concerned how their confrontation made Dex sound manipulative, that the woman didn't know what was right for her. But that is my own bias. Side characters are interesting.

Really, my favorite part was the sample for Nashville Naughty, which has delightful banter and humor that I love!

Sydney wants to be a singer/song writer but she doesn't expect to meet the one man she couldn't say no to. Dex wilder is a new hit country star and he wants her he has her but all she does is run from him but two years later when she ends up in his dressing room by mistake will he just let her walk away again?

It was OK. I got it as a free ebook and it was alright to read as a quick chick flick sorta thing. I found the story a bit patchy at times, like it just threw itself into the next bit.
I’d recommend it for a quick read though.

Ok ish

I found it easy to get into this story, felt the connection to the characters but felt it was rushed. It was 200 ish pages and felt that it could have been a good read if it wasnt rushed l.

Quick touching read. I agree with other reviewers that parts are overly mature reading. But the main story line is endering. Who doesn't want to meet and fall in love with a sweet caring musician. The very least the story ended with me smiling. I love that.

WOW...

Poorly written...no timeline or anything. This was purely a book where two people met, had sex and confused lust for love... could've been written better and I'm glad it was free.

Good story, terrible copy editing

This was a great intro to the series, I will definitely buy more. But the copy editing / proof reading so so terrible it pulled me out of the story multiple times. Hopefully that improves in later books.

Saucy little novel

Great book. The story had some erotic love scenes that only added to the story.
I enjoyed this book a lot.
