My review. It took a while but I needed to digest it well.
Just like its title, AWAKENING stirs something powerful in Maya, a resilient fighter born from the small, quiet community of Gwemaru. A girl who once only loved to cook now rises as a warrior clad in armor, standing for justice, fighting against slavery, and defending the innocent.
A star is born, one with the spirit and energy to rule the great Kingdom of Hamazar. Sworn to be the change history has never known, Maya pledges to protect her loved ones and restore peace and unity among communities.
Even as Royal Consort, her fire cannot be quenched and not even by Emperor Khari. A warrior has emerged, and she’s here to stay.

As Maya steps into her full power, Zufan transforms into a bolder, braver daughter, one willing to die for the cause of justice.

Book 3 of The Wellspring Tetralogy was such a ride, and honestly, it might be my favorite of the series so far.
The romance scenes were beautiful. They had so much emotion, but also danger, because you know love in Hamazar Palace is never just love, it always comes with a cost.
What really struck me in this book was how Maya finally understood she had no choice but to join the political schemes. The author completely got me there. I didn’t realize Maya was already being set up for this move, but looking back, it was so well planned. Watching her step into that role felt powerful.
The fight scenes? Absolutely thrilling. They balanced the politics perfectly, so the story never felt slow. And speaking of politics, I actually enjoyed the palace schemes this time around, it was like every character had a hidden hand in play, and you never knew who to trust.
I also loved how the story expanded into the Northern Red Sea Kingdom. The setting was vivid and beautiful, adding a fresh layer to the world-building.
Overall, Book 3 had everything, romance, action, political intrigue, and a setting that made me want to linger on every page.

This book completely blew me away!
Just when I thought Book 1 and 2 had brought all the chaos, tension, and drama, Book 3 raised the bar even higher. I went in expecting a continuation and got an emotional whirlwind instead.
Maya’s growth in this series was everything. She finally steps fully into her power, bold, unshaken, and ready to rule. The love triangle twist? Absolutely unexpected and shocking.
The world-building was top-tier: from the fashion to the food, to the war scenes, everything was so vivid, it felt like I was watching a movie. Every chapter delivered surprises I couldn’t predict.
Precious Osikha has outdone herself. If you haven’t started the Wellspring series yet, you’re seriously missing out. Highly recommend

The plot took a sharp turn, making sense in hindsight. l unexpected twists. I thought the villains were already dealt with in Book 2.
The entire plot shifted into a new shape, and surprisingly, it all made sense. Absolutely. The plot took a sharp turn, making sense in hindsight.
My favourite parts were all the romantic and soft moments. I didn’t expect to enjoy the romance as much as I did, but I truly did.

The word Awakening had me curious. But truly, if you read Books 1 and 2, you’ll agree that some characters were “sleeping.” Here in Book 3, they finally woke up and it was fire. I enjoyed every bit of it.
