This book was a mixed experience for me.

I spent a few days gathering my thoughts because, while a lot happens in this story, not all of it felt purposeful to me.

I went into it aware of the "small plot, lots of smut" premise and kept an open mind. However, I realized there actually was a plot with so much potential that it was a bit sad it wasn't developed into a full novel.

The main characters are well described, perhaps a tad too much if those details weren't crucial to the overall story. Their chemistry was fast and diverse, but I found myself wishing for a bit more romance beyond the instant lust that drove the relationship.

Overall, I would still recommend this book if you are looking for a fast paced, steamy read with paranormal species. Just go in knowing it's not a "clean palate" type of reading.

It wasn’t my favorite sapphic read! I’m sorry yes the smut was there but every smut scene was described the exact. Same. Way. With the exact same ways. I will say thank you for not using words like “love box”😅 Needed just a tad bit more from the author.

3 stars. All that sex, I’m exhausted for Hazel holy shit. I love a sapphic why choose, I don’t read enough of them but they’re always fun when I do. Three stars for this one because it was repetitive as hell but I did like all of the characters, but Caro was my favorite. They’re particularly sexy and a bit toppy. This was such a fun time and don’t let the three stars deter you, I’d happily read this again. It’s entertaining and a smutty ride.

Simple and to the point

Sometimes I enjoy it when things go smoothly. Like this was such a nerve-healing book.. And also new, I hadn't yet read a book with such a diverse coven. I actually thought this was what J.J.A was going to do with her latest "Why choose" series. I loved this one.

2 stars for each orgasm it gave me. Most of the smut scenes in this book were fun although they did get repetitive toward the end.
The dialogue was cringey and it was poorly written (i can’t with the insta love and overuse of gross pet names) I skipped over almost over the dialogue and what little plot there was but still had a fun time.
This is a “why choose” and I chose not to over think it.

Sapphic Coven Delights!

Five makes a coven, each a different species (I think that’s the word!). Hazel is human and covens of the wrong sort are kidnapping humans as the fifth to complete a coven. She is rescued by Nayali, a vampire and brought to a safe home where the rest of the partial coven resides. Issa is fae. Caro is a shifter. Scarlett is a witch. They also need a human to complete their coven but instead of force they offer safety and choice. Becoming a coven means a ritual of pleasure and power exchange. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I wanted to love it. I really loved the idea of it! I just didn’t enjoy it in practice. If you’ve read this and enjoyed it then that’s great! It’s a wonderful idea for a book. I’m usually a firm believer of ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all’, it just wasn’t done well for me.

Too repetitive and not enough space for the characters and relationships to shine.

Things I DID like:
- started off strong
- the concept is really cool
- LOVE vampires, witches, fae and shifters
- some of the sass earlier on
- the epilogue is a nice message

The idea for the book is wonderful! If it was made into a full length book with time and space for world building, character depth and relationship development then it could be amazing.

There’s smut here, there’s smut there and there’s smut everywhere but I find that I didn’t mind it. There’s something for everyone included here, pick your kink(s) and go crazy. Be sure to read the content warnings and if they don’t bother you, give this book a try. Consent is sexy and in this book it’s always enthusiastic.

I liked that it was a quick read but that there was an actual explanation as to how covens form, what they require from each member, the difference between real covens and covens that just seek power and descriptions of the magic that they posses. I liked that they took the time to find out if they’re compatible, that there’s a safe word, that there’s aftercare and that they focus a lot on sharing 😉

This book was so beautiful in so many ways! I absolutely love the depiction of love and what polyamory could look like, with a bonus of the beautiful depiction of the diverse characters and their powers. I fell in love with the coven in all the ways, finding myself wishing I was part of it! The spicy scenes were filled with elegant description that not only captured the acts between the women but the intentions and feelings between them. The weaving of all of their magical abilities just added to the feeling of being transported to another world. I’m really truly hoping there are more books to come, and maybe even some character art because I am in love with everything about this book, this world, and the magical characters!!

The Pentagonal Coven by Madison Nicole is pure sapphic why choose erotica, and I am here for it. It’s a quick read - less than 200 pages.

There is a bit of a plot - humans are a commodity in a magical world, that helps a coven become its strongest. Our FMC, Hazel, is human, and has been chased down by a rather nefarious coven of all men who are trying to force Hazel into their coven. She is rescued by Naya - a vampire, who introduces her to Scarlet - a witch, Caro - a shifter, and Issa - fae.

There is a lot of smut - a lot - not much plot development beyond the obvious, but it is still an enjoyable read.

This is a fun little read. It could do with another round of edits and the plot is barely there. But isn't that the fun? Very spicy, very entertaining, and when the plot is there, it's doing the dang thing. This book makes for a quick pallet cleanser, a fun spicy read, maybe a partner read? It's a why-choose trope , it's 4 females and a they/them. I'm straight but... Idk, am I? Lol. That was hot. Definitely give it a go, it's short and sweet. Though, do read the trigger warnings darlings. Safety and comfort first, always.

As soon as I read the title of this book, I knew it was going to be good! And it did not disappoint! The smut was smuttily smutting along in this one! I loved how different the characters were and how their magic and personalities intertwined and supported each other!

I will say that the world building and the storyline were a little hazy, and I would have loved to see more development and explanation; but we got more than what we came for in terms of some good why choose sapphic love! 💕

What a genuinely good read!
As someone who has been trying to find more sapphic reads, this is one in the fantasy section that genuinely has it all. Vampires, fae, witches, shapeshifters and they flow together seamlessly.
Honestly the only criticism I have is the few grammatical errors here and there. But if you read the content warning and details on this book you 100% get what you ask for and it is so fun. Would definitely read again.

Sometimes you find a book on tiktok bragging about the spice level and are sorely disappointed but let me tell you this is not one of those books

Total smut with a storyline that only bolsters how you feel about all the characters even the evil ones... Trust me unless you are some sort of incel mens rights advocate you will hate the other coven!!

This was fine. I would mostly describe it as underwhelming and very repetitive, but also fine.

This novel had a lot of good pieces however I’m not sure they were all put together very well. With regards to the plot, worldbuilding, and characters, I think the author bit off more than they could chew. This was billed as erotica, and I think things would have been better if it stayed more in that lane. There were some genuinely interesting bits of lore with regards to the worldbuilding, however it was very underdeveloped to the point where it might have been better if it wasn’t there. I think this premise could make for a good novel, though this isn’t quite it.

If you’re here for the spicy content then this novel has a lot of it. I have read better, and I have read worse. I don’t want to overuse the word but “fine” really does a great job in this instance.

I would encourage this author to write more. I might not be overly enthusiastic about this novel but there were some good pieces here and I think there is definitely potential.
