This for my hoodoo girls my southern gothic fans, it’s not really horror but it’s paranormal in a way. The story was so good that the romance portion was just a bonus for me. Chade our FMC is annoying but in a guarded judgmental kinda way. There is def some growth by the end but still. While I know it’s due to trauma I don’t like when anyone is rude or condescending under the guise of protecting themselves like you’re being a B*tch right now and if someone talked to you in the same way it would be an issue. I loved the blood line and familial trauma aspect because it’s interwoven so well throughout the story. I wish the pace had been sped up just a teensy bit because I feel like where we needed just wasn’t enough. Especially cus the sneak peek leads you somewhere different.
I am super intrigued and look forward to this authors work lol oh and Emory putting Chade THROUGH THE MATTRESS next book lol cus it’s overdue. Spice here was minimal and we got a more detailed scene from the supporting cast. I do have questions about what’s to come and I’m hoping they are answered in the next book. This is one I’m actually gonna buy a hard copy of because it’s that good. The author dropped a lot of gems and jewels that I think is worth me revisiting multiple times.
