She's horribly unqualified...and everything they both need.
Travis The last time I saw my ex-fling, she was toasting her engagement to a record producer. So when I heard she'd had a baby, I assumed he was the father...until she showed up at my house seven years later with a little boy and said, "Your turn."
I’m a musician. My life is already loud and chaotic enough, and it's definitely not kid-friendly. But I was raised by a nanny, and I see no harm in finding one for my son.
Too bad he rejects every single person I hire.
The only person he actually likes? Not a nanny. She's a friend of a friend and the former floor manager at a brewery. But she has just enough childcare experience that I offer her the job out of desperation...and instantly regret it.
Hannah is a bossy, opinionated, loud-mouthed hurricane of a woman who tests my patience, my sanity, and my number one don't fall for the nanny.
Hannah Let the record show, I am not a professional nanny. I did, however, raise my little brother, so I know my way around a juice box and a tantrum. Which is more than Travis can say.
My new boss is uptight, obsessive, and needs more help than his kid does.
I was determined to pop in, whip things into shape, and leave, but the more I get to know them, the more I want to stay...
**A standalone romcom in the Babes of Brewing series of interconnected standalones**
There are TWO different versions of this 1) A spicy open door version with some strong language and sex scenes 2) A closed door version with mild language and only kissing. Please choose the version that's best for you!
ANGELA CASELLA lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband, her daughter, and their ill-behaved corgi in an extremely small bungalow. She spends her days writing and pretending to market. She writes solo romcoms and also has three co-written series with Denise Grover Swank.
First off, I love that the author made two versions of this book! One spicy and one sweet so you can choose your spice level. Brilliant.
Hannah is seriously unqualified to be a nanny, but somehow is the perfect match. I love her bond / care with not just Travis but also his son. Travis is a rockstar who just recently found out he was a dad. This is the ultimate grumpy/sunshine and it works so well.
I hadn’t read the first book in the series but didn’t feel lost at all as each book is an interconnected standalone. I’ll definitely be going back for more in the series!
Recently resigned brewery manager Hannah is one of four women who were all deceived by the same duplicitous man. Hannah and two of the other ladies became great friends, bonding over their shared plight and roasting the guy all over Asheville. Now between jobs, and trying to figure out her next course of action, Hannah discovers that one of her new friends’ boyfriend has a bandmate who’s just had a seven year old son literally dumped on his doorstep after never knowing the child belonged to him. Hannah instantly develops a rapport with the boy over a truncated version of an adult card game, winning the boy’s loyalty but gaining the disapproval of his very hot father.
As a songwriter and drummer whose aspirations are humble, wanting to remain Asheville-based, and content to play breweries and special events, Travis had shunned the spotlight under which his actor father thrived. He is immediately overwhelmed by his newly revealed son, whose insomnia and off the charts intelligence disrupt Travis’s carefully curated life. When Hurricane Hannah shows up like a sultry and curvaceous Mary Poppins with attitude, he reluctantly agrees to allow her to act as Ollie’s nanny out of desperation.
Hannah goes above and beyond with Ollie, feeling a kinship with him over her own mother’s abandonment. Travis is in awe of and more than a little envious of the bond between Hannah and Ollie. However, Travis’s main objection to Hannah-as-nanny is the overpowering attraction he feels for her. Hannah also feels the pull toward Travis, but the situation is messy and complicated, as are many of the best things in life.
A host of wacky and endearing side characters help the pair sort through their sticky situationship and as ever, Angela Casella delivers a funny, filthy, and poignant lurch towards a HFN.
I was generously provided an advance reader copy from the author and The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest and enthusiastic review.
I'm bumping this up to three stars because I was possibly just not in the mood for this type of story and that's completely on me and the lack of time to focus fully on a book right now. But overall this book just didn't grab me. The characters were okay but I never truly felt a connection between them and I never fell in love with either of them. Maybe if I had read the previous book and got to learn more about them first that would have helped.
WORST NANNY EVER by @angelacasellaauthor ARC review • pub date 09.12.25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨BOOK 2 in the BABES OF BREWING series✨
you get two options (for each book) SWEET or SPICY and I chose the SWEET version
The books are interconnected standalones so even if you didn’t read Best Served Cold - you can still pick this one up. I personally loved the first book too so I recommend both!
Hannah - who is *highly* unqualified to be a nanny - somehow finds herself the nanny to Ollie - Travis’s son. Travis - a drummer in a local band, unfortunately just now found out about Ollie, who is seven. Hannah steps up and becomes friends with Ollie while helping him and Travis adjust to their new life together.
This book was adorable in all ways possible. The way they needed each other without even realizing it 🥰 I love this author and will always recommend giving one of her books a read. I promise you’ll want to read more! Looking forward to Briars story in book 3!
When the perfect nanny is just the opposite of what you are looking for.
Love the grumpy sunshine trope, and this was just next level. When you see that the FMC revels in his strait-laced personality and goes out of her way to ruffle his feathers you know you have a great read in your hands.
Hannah and Travis are polar opposites on paper. So, seeing how their chemistry and how well they complimented each other to fit was beautiful to read. I also loved the richness and care Angela Casella gave the rest of the characters.
Thadn't read book one in the series and never found myself lost in the story. This is the type of feel-good book I gravitate to and look forward to grabbing book one while we wait for the next instalment.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Travis is meticulous , a rule follower & reserved (except when he plays the drums). Hannah is overbearing, a rule breaker & thinks outside the box. The way that these two opposites crash into each other’s world is pure magic. And the I thoroughly enjoyed every character that entered into this story. A MUST read from the Babes of Brewing Series!
Travis just found out that he has a 7 year old son, Ollie. He needs a nanny to help out. Hannah is down on her luck & just quit her job. Hannah needs a job & Ollie adores her, but Travis isn’t sure that she is right for the job.. However, the boss / employee lines get blurred from working so closely together to take care of Ollie. Somehow there is a weird balance between the two.
As a disclaimer, this came in a spicy and not so spicy version....
I,.... chose the spicy 😈
Travis is a hot drummer. He also happens to be a single dad. His ex showed up one lovely afternoon after years and leaves HIS son with him. Travis's goal is to NOT screw this kid up the way his parents did, but his lifestyle is not exactly kid friendly, and so he decides he needs a nanny.
Enter Hannah, not exactly a trained nanny, she actually is a brewery manager. But with some life changes she finds herself playing Mary Poppins, and she is quite a force to be reckoned with!
These two are polar opposites but that doesnt stop the spark of attraction.
This is really fun, has plenty of laughs and a lot of heart. I recommend to any Tessa Bailey and Lucy Score fans. Thank you to the author and Hambright PR for the chance to read prior to it's release on September 12th.
I received this book from Hambright PR. The second in the Babes of Brewing series, this one was every bit as good as the first. I loved the development of Hannah and Travis’s relationship, showing how they grew both as people and as a couple. It also has the return of beloved characters (looking at you, Dottie) but can be read as a standalone. I can’t wait to continue this series and I’m already dying for Liam and Briar’s book!! 5 stars. Thank you to Hambright PR and the author for my copy
I absolutely LOVE Angela Casella...one of the things I love most about her is that she writes beautifully heart felt book with spice, but also puts out a closed door version for those of you who don't want to read the open door version, but still want to be able to enjoy the story...and I love that...everyone is included. So if spicy isn't your thing, don't worry...just grab the closed door version and buckle up for a fun ride!
This story is heartwarming and at times heartbreaking...but there is very little angst, no drama...but a lot of fun, laughs and found family. This is the second book in the Babes of Brewing series...it is an interconnected stand alone, and you do NOT need to read the first book to understand it...but trust me...the first is just as good so definitely circle back to it! 💙
Travis is our...semi grumpy? Rockstar drummer MMC, and newly minted dad. His ex waltzes into town one dat and drops an adorable seven year old Ollie on his door step and is never seen again...now Travis turned into a dad overnight with zero clue on where or how to start. One thing he does know, he's determined to give his son a better childhood than he had, and be the best dad he can be for him.
Hannah is our spitfire FMC...she is in between jobs after navigating a brutal breakup where the guy was dating multiple women at the same time, her best friend suggest a possible nanny job for her fiances best friend. Is Hannah qualified? Absolutely not...in fact she might be the WORST candidate...but...after meeting Ollie, the two instantly hit it off and bond over a card game...and Ollie is dead set on having her and only her as her nanny. Shouldn't be a problem right? Only it is...because his dad Travis knows that if he lets her into his life, she's the kind of woman to ruin it in all the best ways.🤭🤭🤭
Hannah is EXACTLY what Ollie and Travis needed in their lives. Ollie...that sweet boy...he has been through more than any little boy should ever have to go through. He suffers from insomnia due to his trauma from his mother....but the bond he builds with Hannah is something so beautiful...for the first time that little boy feels safe and loved...it almost felt like a fun brother/sister relationship with how playful Hannah was with him.
Now...the relationship with Hannah and Travis?? That had me crying laughing the whole book. Hannah is a MENACE 😂😂😂 She is the complete opposite of Travis...crazy, all over the place, fun fun fun 24/7...disrupting his carefully planned out life in the best way. She loves to push his buttons and get under his skin...but the more time they spend together, the more they start to fall for each other. Travis thinks its a terrible idea, and they shouldn't cross that line...but things start to blur...and thanks to their lovable meddling friends who push and encourage the relationship, they find their way to each other.
I loved this book...I love this series...Im so excited to see what the next book holds! Do yourself a favor and pick this book up ASAP! 💙
Thank you so much to Angela Casella for the opportunity to ARC read this amazing book! 💙💙💙

Travis is floundering with trying to raise his incredibly intelligent and mischievous seven year old son he only just learned existed. His ex-gf dropped him at his door and walked away without a care in the world. Unsure what to do, and desperate not to screw him up like his own parents did to him, he scours for a suitable nanny. The only problem is that his son Ollie only wants one person to be his nanny, and she's beautiful, chaos incarnate.
*****
I loved this story so much! Travis was so strict, cautious and holding himself back from truly living because he was paralyzed from his own upbringing and being burned by Ollie's mom. Hannah was an absolute hurricane of mess, bad choices, and codependence brought on by her own abandonment as a child, while helping to raise her siblings. Together they were rife for mayhem to occur, and yet that was where they truly blossomed.
Hannah helped show Travis what a life full of mess and joy and love could bring, while still allowing him to process in ways he needed to. Travis showed Hannah that her whirlwind behaviour and charming havoc wasn't too much for him -- if anything it's what brought him alive.
Together they tackled everything that came across their plates with emotional maturity, understanding, and quirky banter that had me burning through this in one sitting.
Overall this was a funny, spicy and heartwarming read, and a perfect second book to the Babes of Brewing series.

Thank you to The Author Agency for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was so excited to receive the ARC for Worst Nanny Ever as I loved Best Served Cold which is book one in the series!
This one had me laughing, smiling, awww-ing throughout the entire book. Travis and Hannah were just so funny together. Their banter was off the charts, and the way Hannah got Travis to open up and just have fun was seriously the best. It was so heartwarming to watch Travis come into his role of being a Dad and I loved watching his relationship with Ollie grow!
Although this is book two, you can read this standalone. But I highly recommend reading book one because some of the storyline will also make sense! Plus it’s just so good too!
✨ Tropes ✨ - Nanny/ Single Dad - Romcom - Drummer MMC - Grumpy Sunshine - Found Family
✨ I also want to mention that if you want to skip the spice, there will be an option for a sweet version meaning closed door, less language ect. ✨
A big Thank You to @angelacasellaauthor & @hambright_pr for the e-ARC of this one, I loved it!
I am so incredibly grateful to have received an advanced copy of Worst Nanny Ever from the author and Hambright PR! 🫶
“You’re the person I’d choose to be with, out of everyone in the world, and I want you to choose me back. I want to prove I’m worthy of it.”
Worst Nanny Ever is truly such a fun entertaining story that put the biggest smile on my face! 🥹💕 Something I additionally find incredible is that there are two different versions of it in order to cater to all kinds of readers! 🥰 There is a spicy version and there is a sweet version. I chose to read the sweet version so my review is based off that version of the story! 🫶
Hannah is such an incredible FMC and I love how she cares so much for others and always protects people that she cares about. She’s sassy, spontaneous, says things how they are, and happens to be tied for my favorite character along with Ollie. Travis is a musician and he found out that he happens to be a dad to 7 year old Ollie when his mom drops him off at his house. Ollie truly makes the story and he is the absolute best! 🥹 I love his connection with Hannah is the cutest! ❤️
If you love rom-com books, single dad and the nanny, grumpy x sunshine, and a book that will put a huge smile on your face then this is the book for you! 🫶
Worst Nanny Ever by Angella Casella . This is book two in the Babes of Brewing series but can be read as a standalone. Travis only recently found out about his seven year old son’s existence but is determined to make up for lost time. Which means he needs to hire a nanny. His son wants Hannah to be his nanny because she is fun but Travis thinks she is the worst person for the job. And that’s not just because he is attracted to her. . What I loved: -I just love Hannah. She is loud, energetic, caring, goes out of her way to help people, and is just the best person. -I loved every single interaction between Hannah and little Oliver. She really was the best nanny for him because she was actually a friend. -The side plot with Eugene was my absolute FAVORITE part of this story and I shipped Applebottom jeans soooo hard!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE. -I just really enjoyed every moment of this story and am so glad that it came into my life. . 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Worst Nanny Ever is Book 2 in the Babes Of Brewing series, but can be read as a standalone. Although I would recommend reading Best Served Cold because I loved it as well!
I love how Angela Casella has both a spicy and a sweet version of the books to choose from. Of course I chose Spicy!!
Worst Nanny Ever follows Travis and Hannah. Travis (who is a drummer in a band, and likes his routines and order) finds out he has a son Ollie when he is dropped off at his door by his ex. Ollie isn't loving the idea of having Travis as his father, and Travis feels unprepared and overwhelmed to be one. In comes Hannah. She is a fireball of a woman, although unqualified to Nanny, she agrees. And Ollie takes to her right away. She pushes every single one of Travis' buttons, and makes questionable choices. But I loved her so much as a character. She is always meddling. I love all of the friendships, especially Eugene and watching him evolve. And seeing Dottie again was my favorite! Worst Nanny Ever was a great read, with lots of heart and even more laughs. I can't wait to see comes next!
Thank you to Angela and Hambright PR for the early arc of this book!
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Travis and Hannah’s story. Travis is a drummer who works afternoons and evenings, and when he is handed Ollie, the son he never knew about, he needs help. Hannah is a friend of a friend, and after Ollie rejects any of the other prospect, and like Hannah, he hires her. Hannah is bossy and opinionated, and tests Travis’ patience, but can they ignore the fire between them? This is a well written slow burn easy to read story, with found family, friendships, emotions, drama, meddling, close proximity, opposites attract, grumpy / sunshine, challenges, humour, witty banter, matchmaking, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartwarming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Travis gets the surprise of his life when he answers the door to find seven-year-old Ollie and his ex-Lilah at the door. Travis never knew he had a son until now, and he immediately knows he needs help. The only issue is the nannies keep quitting, until Hannah agrees to be Ollie’s nanny. It’s not what Travis wanted, but Ollie likes her and so at least he’s happy. Hannah does not have any experience working with kids, but she does have the traumatic experience of being abandoned by her mother like Ollie. This combined with her spunky attitude wins over Ollie and completely destroys Travis’s will to keep things platonic. One thing about Hannah is she has a big heart. She wants everyone to be happy and to recognize their potential. So, she provides the fun and stability that Ollie craves, and that makes Travis like her even more. He has liked her secretly for a very long time, but watching her with his son has made him like her even more. They work so well as a family unit. She provides the fun and spontaneity. Travis provides structure and rules. I loved how Travis wanted to be present for his son and have a good relationship with him. It didn’t happen overnight, but eventually, he gained Ollie’s respect and love to the point where he even called him dad. The chemistry is there between Travis and Hannah, but they are trying to do what’s best for Ollie, and that means they don’t want to confuse him. That means lots of tension and fun banter. If you are in the mood for a fun single dad with a sweet little boy, you will love this one!
"Don't let yourself get carried away by the tide."
Worst Nanny Ever was heartwarming, funny, enjoyable, and addictive!
Travis is a single father to seven-year-old Ollie, whom he didn't know about until his mother dropped him off. Travis is protective, struggles with anxiety, and is set in his ways, until Hannah came into his life like a whirlwind, bringing excitement and unpredictability.
Hannah is his opposite in so many ways. She enjoys tormenting Travis, challenging and pushing his way of thinking. Hannah agrees to take the job as Ollie's nanny because she can relate to him, even though she's not exactly qualified. She has a big heart, always interfering in people's lives because she truly cares.
I greatly enjoyed all the different friendships throughout this series, especially the unlikely friendship of Eugene and Hannah.
I also enjoyed the brother/sister relationship between Liam and Hannah. Liam is rugged and protective. I'm extremely excited for book three of Babes of Brewing because we will get more from Liam!
Worst Nanny Ever is the perfect nanny/single dad romcom. Full of witty banter, found family vibes, and a grumpy drummer dad learning how to connect with his newly discovered 7 year old son.
Hannah might not be a nanny, but she’s exactly what Travis and Ollie need. She’s spunky, nosey (in the best way), and totally chaotic. Which makes her the perfect match for buttoned up Travis.
I adored: 💛 The grumpy x sunshine dynamic 🥁 Travis learning to share his passion for drumming 👦 Ollie’s clever, science loving personality 👯♀️ The bar babes & matchmaking side characters 🏡 The way this book builds a beautiful found family
This one had me laughing and tearing up, plus there’s both a spicy open door and closed door version so you can pick your perfect read!
Thank you to the author and Hamburg PR for this ARC! I read the spicy version.
This book had so many great tropes—surprise child, nanny/single dad, close proximity, and even workplace romance. I really enjoyed how Hannah and Travis fell in love slowly and gradually—it felt natural and sweet.
What stood out most to me was how the author explored Travis’s complicated feelings toward his parents, especially his father, and the theme of parental abandonment. It was handled with such nuance and understanding.
And let’s not forget the meddling—everyone in this book had a hand in it, but Hannah was definitely the chief meddler!
For me, this was a solid 3.5-star read. The spice is mild, but it fit the story well. I highly recommend it!
Thank you Hambright PR for the arc , my opinions are my own.
First time reading this author and I had so much fun! There is a first book in this series that I didn’t read (but now I will )but you can read this as a standalone like me .
Here is the thing, you meet Travis , dark hair, tall , broad shoulders , a little grumpy AND a sexy drummer… yes please ! And then you meet Ollie , his 7 year lost son .. Ollie: really cleaver , reader , loved science and got this smart mouth that I was fascinated. I loved him instantly. Ollie’s mother Lila , drop Ollie at Travis door and said “hey, you got a kid , take care “
That’s when Hannah comes along, Hannah the red hair ,best friend of rob’girlfriend . Rob is Travis best friend , and bandmate. Hannah , really unqualified, opinionated, and I don’t give a f Hannah is the one who Olive chose to be his nanny. So all of this happened in a few sentences at the beginning , I was hooked and laughing, and seeing Travis change his life and got a worried look all the time was delightful to watch.
This book has two versions , the spice and no spice one. You know wich one I pick 🥳.
Overall, all the plot, the dialogues , the side characters (Eugene and Dottie ), and Hannah’s girlfriends made this book a delightful, fun and hot read.
Oh my goodness this book maybe even better than the first one. Hannah and Travis are the definition of opposites attract. Travis is private quite definitely type A and likes order. Hannah is a beautiful disaster wrapped in sweet chaos. Travis suddenly becoming a father and needing a nanny for his son that he didn’t know he had. The two of them unit over their love of sweet sweet Ollie (plus who doesn’t love the nanny trope). It just makes your heart so happy I can’t wait for Briar‘s book.
Worst Nanny Ever is the first book I've read by Angela Casella, and I loved it! Casella's writing is definitely binge-worthy! This is the second book in the Babes of Brewing series but can be read as a standalone (I did it!) I am already anticipating going back and reading book 1 (Best Served Cold - Sophie & Rob's story) and am super pumped for Briar and Liam's story expected in January of 26!
First off , I thought it was great that we were given the choice for the spicy or sweet version! Of course, I chose the spicy and it really is not over the top. It's the perfect amount written very tastefully!
Travis is thrown a major curveball in his life when his ex-girlfriend drops his 7-year-old son off to him, the son he had absolutely no idea about. He goes all in; he has no clue what he is doing, he's never had to "dad" before, but he is determined to do the best job he can- but he feels like he is failing at every turn. He has hired several nannies but all of them quit; Ollie is not very welcoming of any of them. Travis is left with no choice but to take a chance on the least qualified candidate, but also the one that his son seems to love, Hannah Moroney. She's a fun, loving and chaotic mess and it seems that Ollie may not be the only one who has fallen in love with her 😍
There are SO many other stories going on in the midst of Hannah, Travis and Ollie's story. The side characters don't really feel like that because the author has given them just as much depth and consistency- it is just as easy to get invested in their lives and the outcomes as it is to follow the main story! The author did such a fantastic job of balancing it all where it doesn't feel overwhelming or difficult to keep up with. It's such a smooth, engaging, fun and heart-warming read!
Worst Nanny Ever is full of all the witty banter you can ask for and also plenty of touching moments when you find your heart can't help but smile! Eugene Peebles and Ms. Applebottom Jeans were one of those heart-smiling moments for me! 🥹 Just wait and see! This book was the definition of a sweet romantic comedy, so if that's your genre, this needs to be on your TBR yesterday!
🦔 found family 🦔 single dad & the nanny 🦔 grumpy vs sunshine 🦔 the best group of old people 🦔 oh the crystals....
Thank you to the author and to Hambright PR for this free, advanced reading copy! All opinions are my own!
I received an ARC of Worst Nanny Ever, and Angela Casella’s writing continues to be the kind of witty magic that makes you forget you were only planning to read one chapter. There’s a rhythm to her writing that makes the pages fly.
The characters are flawed in all the best ways — real, relatable, and the kind you want to root for (or be best friends with). There’s just the right touch of humor—I even caught myself chuckling out loud a few times. I love that there was a little bit of mystery tossed in to the storyline. The friendships between Hannah, Sophie and Briar and Travis and Rob make my heart happy - everyone needs a friend who has your back. Would I recommend it? Absolutely — especially to rom-com lovers, fans of laugh-out-loud moments, or anyone who’s ever wished for a nanny story with sass and spark. I can’t wait for Briar and Liam’s story!
Is Hannah really the worst nanny ever? Well, I guess that depends on who you ask. To Ollie, she’s the only nanny, and he won’t accept anyone else. To Hannah herself, she’s not actually a nanny but she does have plenty of experience with little children. To Travis, poor beleaguered, overwhelmed, uptight Travis who just found out he has a 7-year-old son, yes, Hannah is most definitely the worst nanny ever. But she’s also his very last hope.
Worst Nanny Ever is the second book in author Angela Casella’s Babes of Brewing series and just as wildly entertaining, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and scorchingly romantic as the first. We already know Travis and Hannah from Rob and Sophie’s story, Best Served Cold. Yes, I know each book will work perfectly as a standalone, but why deprive yourself? Rob, Travis and Bixby are members of the band Garbage Fire. Another band member is leaving so they’re looking for a replacement, and they’re on the cusp of going big-time. Exciting, right? Dream come true? Or have things changed since they formed the band? Hannah is one of Sophie’s closest friends. A rather new close friend, but a bond was formed when Sophie discovered her fiancé Jonah was also dating Hannah, Briar and Nora. All four women took this news differently, and although Nora hasn’t really become part of their group, they got their hilarious revenge on Jonah, and now Sophie, Hannan and Briar are besties. Hannah wasn’t dating Jonah – or anyone – for the long haul. Doesn’t mean her heart is available, though. Even if she and Travis have a hot attraction and have done some flirting in the past.
Except you can’t flirt with you son’s nanny!! You can’t let anything start, because what happens when Travis and the woman Ollie probably trusts more than anyone else in the world right now break up? Travis may be a brand new dad but that doesn’t mean he isn’t determined to be a good one. Besides, while Hannah may be smoking hot, pretty funny, and easy to talk to she always gets under his uptight a-place-for-everything-and-everything-in-its-place skin like no one else. Ollie seems happier, Hannah doesn’t break every single rule, so let’s go with the status quo and hope it doesn’t blow up too soon.
Ollie. Ollie’s story will have you reaching for the tissues. Travis had no idea he was Ollie’s father. No idea, because Ollie’s mother told the rich man she left Travis for that it was his baby. And that’s how Ollie was raised, until the rich man found out and totally, completely, absolutely, cruelly rejected Ollie. And Ollie’s mother, having places to go and people to see, dropped Ollie off with Travis: he’s yours, your turn. Ollie is (understandably) not happy with being left with Travis. A little boy, old for his years but still a little boy, abandoned by his mother, pushed away by the only father he ever knew, and now living with a man who seems pretty clueless. We all know where we want this story to go, don’t we?
Well, trust me, author Casella takes us lots of places in this amazing story populated with people we can’t get enough of. It will make you cry, make you laugh out loud, and have you doing some heavy breathing occasionally. There are so many delightful twists and turns and surprises, like Travis’s cheesy actor father, Travis’s time in a sailor suit, the destructive power of the internet and crazy fans, a little treachery, Hannah’s past experiences that have led her to the decisions she’s made, her even-more-uptight-than-Travis-if-you-can-believe-it replacement at the brewery, and so much more. You will fall in love with this adorable little boy and the two people who just might be the parents he really needs. I received an advance copy of Worst Nanny Ever and recommend it without hesitation. Read it, read Best Served Cold and get in line for the next couple of books in the series. While you’re waiting read everything else this fantastic author writes. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.
Angela Casella is an author I can reliably turn to when I want a fun contemporary romance. Something about her writing just clicks for me, and I know I’ll have a good time with her books. Worst Nanny Ever is another strong outing from Angela—perfect if you’re looking for a lighter read between heavier titles. Thanks to Hambright for the complimentary early copy.
Travis, drummer for a North Carolina band, never expected fatherhood to literally land on his doorstep. When his ex leaves behind seven-year-old Ollie, Travis is determined to step up, even if he has no clue how to parent and didn't even know he had a child before that moment. Ollie is a brilliant kid but hurting, and every nanny quits—until Hannah enters the picture. Chaotic, extroverted, and between jobs, Hannah has no formal childcare experience, but Ollie takes to her instantly. She just might be what both father and son need—if Travis can loosen up enough to let her in.
Worst Nanny Ever is book two in the Babes of Brewing series. I skipped book one because it was a fake-dating romance, and I don’t read contemporary fake-dating stories anymore. Fortunately, Casella does a great job filling in the blanks so readers have all the context they need. The series follows a group of women who, in the first book, discovered they were all dating the same man and went on to become best friends. I loved that concept and really enjoyed the themes of female friendship, intergenerational friendship, and community that carry into this installment.
Most of the conflict here comes from Travis’s life. Between his son showing up out of nowhere and his father’s lingering fame as a B-list actor, he has a lot to deal with—and he doesn’t always handle it well. Travis combines two of my favorite tropes: Man Becomes Guardian to Child He’s Ill-Equipped to Care For and Starchy Hero Meets Whirlwind Woman. Both are executed wonderfully here. I especially appreciated how Travis kept showing up for Ollie and Hannah, even when he messed up. Casella gave us a clear sense of who he was at the start and stayed true to those core values throughout the book.
Worst Nanny Ever comes in two versions: sweet and spicy. I chose the open-door version because if I’m reading a single dad x nanny romance, I want the spice. As usual, those scenes were well written. I also like that Angela offers both options to suit readers’ comfort levels.
Overall, this was a charming, heartfelt single-dad romance. I’m already looking forward to book three in the series! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved, loved, loved this opposites attract, forbidden, single dad, forced proximity romance. It’s a heartwarming and spicy story with intense, strong and passionate characters. It will give you all the swoony swoons along with the snort worthy laughs all the while pulling at your heartstrings with all the warm fuzzy emotions. Travis is a drummer in a band and recently learned he’s the father of a 7 year old precocious son, Ollie. Travis is all about control and order which helps his anxiety. Hannah is an exuberant all in ball of chaos who is taking a break from her old job managing a brewery to heal from stuff. She’s used to people thinking she’s too much. Travis’s bandmate and best friend is dating Hannah‘s best friend and Hannah met Ollie the day his mother dumped him on Travis‘s doorstep. After Ollie drives away multiple nannies and despite his better judgment and that Hannah is not qualified to be a nanny, Travis pleads for Hannah to be Ollie‘s nanny. Travis and Hannah had been able to ignore their attraction to each other but once Hannah is in Travis’s house that’s no longer possible and the journey to their HEA begins in earnest. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit scarred and bruised, like Travis, Hannah and Ollie. I just wanna reach into the story and hug them to help them heal. The healing in the story included the usual baggage unpacking, inner voice finding, truth telling, and life course correction but the setting and the well rounded secondary characters made it an immersive experience. I loved that Ollie was a wonderful and integral addition to the story rather than a flimsy story prop. The story would not have been as rich and well rounded without the full development and inclusion of his character. Just like the first book in the series, this book made my heart so happy while I was reading it. I loved Hannah, Travis and Ollie’s love story. And I loved this group of women and the group of wise elders with their unlikely friendships and community. I am excited to read more of the Babes of Brewing love stories especially with Dottie working her usual crystal centered magic.
There's so much to love in this one, I may need to re-read it again... today! :)
This second book of this series finds one of Jonas' exes - Hannah - finding her forever in the most entertaining way! Sophie, Hannah, and Briar have a supportive friendship that is easy to connect with, even if it started in the most ugly way. Hannah has an energetic, caring and sassy spirit and of all the "exes", she's the most unpredictable. Something that Travis doesn't know how to handle, but is exactly what Ollie (and Travis) needs!
Travis has his hands full, having just found out he's a father, and taken custody of his seven year old son. Finding a nanny is at the top of his list, but is hindered by the intelligent antics of Ollie. Understandable from his son's point of view, but troublesome for Travis. Hannah's availability (but not 'experienced' help) is better than nothing, and the high jinx in his house begin, much to the delight of Ollie and the dismay of Travis! Along their path to forever are some pretty big hurdles to work around, but with heart and steamy chemistry, this pair finds a way. I easily finished this one in one sitting, so plan your time, as it is very addictive.
I really enjoy the banter between these characters and the extended friend group. It is easy to connect with this couple, and their own personal emotional issues that take time to resolve. Along the way, Dottie and the group from her Tea shop help guide the relationships - and Dottie being Dottie [IYKYK] - is very funny and sweet.
It is best to have enjoyed the first book before this one, so the progression of the storyline makes sense, but this can be read first, and then return to book one. Rob and Sophie's story is just as fun as this one, so don't miss it. Next up is the third of the "exes", Briar, and I can't wait to see how she handles her challenges.
Once done with this series, I encourage you to visit this author's catalog for more unforgettable reads - and more of Dottie!! :)
I was fortunate to have received an ARC spicy version of this book, (thank you), and my thoughts are my own.
Truthfully, part of my resistance to the idea of Hannah taking care of Ollie is that I’m attracted to her—fiercely attracted, the way a man only can be to a woman who has the power to destroy him. So maybe I should hire her, if only to make her completely off-limits.
I loved Hannah and Travis as much as I thought I would, but Ollie was a standout for me in this one. He is a hilariously smart, sweet, mischievous, adorable, but unfortunately very hurt seven-year-old who's navigating far too much for his young age. He also helps Hannah and Travis connect on a deeper level while they're trying their best to help him by realizing they have far more in common than they ever thought, and that they both need each other in their own ways as much as neither of them wants to admit it.
Travis is trying to figure out how to be a dad to a seven-year-old all of a sudden, dealing with the fact that he never knew he had a son and all that he's already missed out on, and compounding that with his own childhood trauma which makes it almost impossible for him to really see what Ollie needs from him-a parent who wants him around and truly wants Ollie to be a part of his life. Sadly, that's something Ollie hasn't had up until this point, but Travis is too focused on all of the other stuff to see the solution that is right in front of him.
Enter Hannah: the "nanny", but really Travis' best friend's fiancee's best friend, now unemployed and a little lost, the only person Ollie wants to be his nanny regardless of her (lack of) qualifications, and the woman Travis been crushing on but won't let himself have. Her pranks and hijinks had me cracking up, but I really loved the way she included Ollie in them and how that helped to finally break the ice between Travis and Ollie. She persisted in helping Travis, even when he didn't deserve it, because she saw some of herself in Ollie and she knew Travis could do better by him. There was an attraction between them from the very beginning, but I loved that the real heart of their relationship was both of them coming together to make things as good for Ollie as they possibly could.
I genuinely love the worlds Angela creates in her romcoms. There are so many wonderful side characters/previous main characters who pop in and out and add to the story in such great ways, and it really helps round out the MCs worlds that much more. This story is no different, and I'm also loving the teases for the next book!
I did read the spicy version, and it is open-door, but it's honestly not that spicy. So if you're just not a high spice reader, then I think you'll be fine with this version. If you want no spice, though, Angela has made a closed-door version, so just make sure you're picking the right one based on your comfort level.
I recommend this book to anyone who's read Angela's books and is looking for more romcom, spicy, sweet, fun times. You can start with this one if you're looking to start reading Angela's books, just know that the series is interconnected and there is a bit of back story in the connection between the FMCs so you may want to start with book 1 so you don't feel like you're missing too much. And also because Rob and Sophie's story was another great read. 🥰

"Worst Nanny Ever" is the second installment in the Babes of Brewing series, Spicy Version. The love story between Travis and Hannah kicks off in quite the messy, complicated way, but sometimes that's the best way to find your Happy Ever After (HEA)!
Travis grew up as the son of an actor, with a dad who loved being in the spotlight. But Travis? He prefers to hang back and play his drums for local breweries and events. Right now, he's navigating life as a father to his seven-year-old son, Ollie, whose world has been flipped upside down after his mom left him at a stranger's house.
When Travis’s best friend and bandmate, along with his girlfriend, come to offer support, they bring along Hannah. From the moment they meet, she and Ollie hit it off, and she sticks around to help Travis on that chaotic first day. After that, Ollie is convinced that Hannah should be his nanny, and it seems like every other nanny just can’t stick around for long! Eventually, Travis has no choice but to ask Hannah to be Ollie’s temporary nanny.
The bond between Hannah and Ollie is so sweet that Travis can’t help but feel a little jealous. He wishes he could connect with his son like that! As they spend more time together, the spark between Travis and Hannah grows stronger.
I’m absolutely loving this series more and more! The author has done an amazing job creating relatable characters and introducing some delightful side characters as well. It’s not just about Travis, Hannah, and Ollie; I found myself cheering for everyone, eager to see if Spreadsheet and Applebottom would end up together and get their own HEA. I’m such a sucker for stories about found families that are all about getting involved in each other’s lives and lifting each other up—and this book does just that! I couldn’t put it down, and I was left wanting more when I finished it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series, and you can bet I’ll be picking up the spicy version!
