Architeuthis: A Deep Sea Thriller

Rate this book
It rules the ocean—from the blackest depths to the sunlit shallows. Its arms can crush steel. Its beak can tear warships apart. Once, it stayed hidden. Now, it hunts.

When a ruthless pirate syndicate builds a drug empire in the Andaman Sea, ex-soldier Kane Carpenter and his private team are sent to dismantle it. But in their hunt, they uncover a trail of wrecks—crews vanished without a trace. Kane begins to suspect another presence lurks in these waters.

That presence is no rival gang. It is a ravenous leviathan—an Architeuthis of impossible size, driven mad by a feast of sunken drugs.

Kane Carpenter has fought warlords, mercenaries, and terrorists. But nothing compares to the fury of the ocean’s oldest predator.

Michael Cole really made a fun short deep sea thriller here. The inclusion of modern day pirates was a nice touch. As you didn’t know who was worse the creature or the pirates. The plot flows well and the kills or satisfying. I recommend this one.

Reads like a disposable dime-store novel, one you read and then throw it in the trash. Very pulp-fiction.
Cannot recommend.

Quick Read

This was a quick and easy read with loads of action. A giant squid, addicted to heroin, was easy enough to suspend belief for. Heroes and loads of bad guys provide tasty tidbits for the giant squid. The author has written other books in the G.O.R.E. series. So I suspect that I'll be reading them soon.

Hired to sort out a pirate problem, Kane Carpenter and his team encounter a lot more than they bargained for. Another good story from Michael Cole.

A major disappointment. Instead of being a "deep sea thriller", it was a good guys vs the bad guys with a little monster action thrown in.
