This book follows Owyn Kellobyn across the enchanted realm of Gerennt. She is a merchant of magickal wares, and the book starts with Owyns recurring nightmare where the Council's magickal practitioner has stolen her pyx, the essence that sustains her life.
The Council has started to exploit the magickal Drao people. Using them for a range of different twisted experiments.
For Owyn to get her pyx back the Council has given her the task of travelling across Gerennt on a dangerous journey to collect some illegal faerie eggs and bring them back to the Council.
On her way back she comes across some thieves and a guard named Pax who helps her and says he has to ensure her safe journey back to Jova. She is reluctant to have a travelling companion as Owyn can handle herself and has been trained by the best. However a strange bond forms between them. I don't want to give anything away so I will stop here.
I really enjoyed reading this one, and I loved Owyn and Pax's characters and found myself wanting to read one more chapter everytime I picked it up. An enjoyable and easy read.
There is only a sprinkle of romance, more yearning and it's YA so the romance is closed door.
