Clem has been in love with Harry since he walked into Harry’s bookshop and saw his Heathcliff curls and poet’s face.
That love has only grown stronger over the years of working for him, but unfortunately, Harry has never noticed. He considers Clem to be far too young for him and seems set on dating a never-ending line of unsuitable men.
Then Clem’s fortune changes. Harry needs a fake boyfriend to attend a family wedding, and Clem immediately steps up for the job. He has one weekend to change Harry’s mind and make him see that Clem could be the real thing for him.
From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a novella about secret feelings, a young man’s cunning romance plot, and kisses under a strawberry moon.
Strawberry Moon previously appeared in a promotional giveaway, and has had an epilogue added to it.
She lives in sunny England with her husband and two children, all of whom claim that they haven't had a proper conversation with her since she got her Kindle.
She has spent her life with her head full of daydreams, and decided one day to just sit down and start writing about them. In the process she discovered that she actually loved writing because how else would she get to spend her time with hot and funny men?
Her latest release is Under Gorse and Stone, which is a magical Christmas story about a centuries-old dragon and his human mate.

I almost cried with happiness because this was so sweeeeeeet and funny. Quick short plot and super cute scenes. An extremely hot sex scene and otherwise wonderfully funny. Cliche-ish, yes but I just love it.
the seagulls in Cornwall will trot up and take the food out of your mouth if you’re not careful. Last week one had casually walked into the Co-op and got itself a sandwich off the shelf. 🤭🤭🤭
I wink at him. “If you need to fit something big in a tiny space then I’m your man.” He chokes on the drink he’s sipping, and I laugh at him. 🤣😂🤣
“But you can’t build a relationship on sex.” I take in a breath and look at him. “But you can build it on two people who like each other better than anyone else, who make each other laugh, interest each other, never run short of things to talk about, and who care desperately about the other person’s well-being.” 🫠💕🫠💕🫠
Lily Morton is an author that I can always trust to put the biggest smile on my face when I read her books and this one was no exception. What a wonderful little story this one was.
it’s no secrets that my favorite thing in the world is pining and there so much of it in this book, it just made me so happy to read. This book provoqued so many feelings in me. This book made me laugh every 2 lines because of the banter between the main characters and then it made me grin like a kid on christmas due to how much love and tenderness these two held for each other.
I added one more star because of the epilogue. This is my 3rd time reading this fun , comfort story. Clemo and Harry are definitely made for each other. Probably going to be my go to read when I need a short no angst story. And Clem is so entertaining;)
3.5 stars 🌟 This is a short novella, funny and lovely, everything you need to know is written in the plot. But I feel like I’ve read this same book by Morton many times before, down to the main characters, the endless banter, the plot, and everything else. I honestly gave it a chance because it’s short. I do love Morton’s books, and this one made me laugh, the mcs where nice, but lately I’m taking a break from this author for the aforementioned reason: it feels like I’m reading the same book over and over again.
Such a cute story from Lily. Full of snark, romance and all the awwwws 🥰 Clem is madly in love with Harry. Unfortunately, Harry believes that he's much too old for Clem. Up steps Clem's grandpa, who proves to be an excellent wingman, and such a charmer, making me smile throughout 😀 As is usual, with the lovely Lily, there are lots of laughs, snuggles, and cosy feelings. The additional epilogue is over the top dreamy. Thank you, Lily, loved it 💖
If you're in the mood for a novella of low angst and amusing banter, give this one a try. I quite enjoyed it. It needed another edit pass, but I couldn't care.
Cute short romance about a young man with a long-time crush on his bookshop boss. The fake-ness of the fake-dating is minimal as they both fancy each other. No one else is deceived, either.
**Re-Read, originally released in the Summer Nights Prolific Works Giveaway in August 2024. I read it then but it has disappeared from Goodreads, as freebies often do...jerks. The Author added an epilogue to this edition.**
I normally love Lily Morton books but this just misses a lot of marks. I read that it was part of a giveaway thing and it really felt dashed together so kudos if that was the case. On it's own merits it felt a little flat. Harry is a handsome and shy bookshop owner and is the object of desire to his much younger employee named Clem. They have worked together for quite awhile and it is obvious that Harry likes Clem but thinks he is too young. To compensate for the age difference Morton gives Clem a smart mouth and twink personality to appear more worldly I guess. This only partially works and Clem could jump on your nerves a bit. Anyway, the thin plot involves a fake relationship to Harry's family on a trip back home. It was absolutely not necessary but how can you get the two together in a close environment without a little machinations? It is obvious what is going to happen and Morton can pull together even this thin plot and short page count into something quite readable but not memorable.
Clemo (Clem) is a self proclaimed loud twink, who works in a small bookshop in his home town of Fowey in Cornwall. He enjoys his work, mainly because he is in love with his boss, except his boss doesn't know it.
Harry is the owner of the bookshop, and has recently been dumped by James, his awful boyfriend. Harry is going to his cousins wedding, and James was meant to be his plus one, now he needs someone to step in. Clem to the rescue, he offers to accompany Harry, as his fake boyfriend, but nothing about it is fake.
As the weekend progresses, Harry and Clem become close, and realise they are meant to be.
Lily Morton has a very unique style of writing, the ‘Britishisms’ appeal to my sense of humour. This book was so much fun and super sweet, I would have liked more. I could have read a full book about these two.
“And I know you’ll say it’s too soon, but I didn't fall in love with you this weekend. That happened years ago”.
A cute novella with some of the usual tropes but with Lily's usual snark, sassy, and steamy writing skills! This storyline also involved two granddads who are just as irreverent and outspoken as one of our MCs, Clem, who walked into a bookshop housed in an old Victorian building, and told the new owner, Harry, that he already worked there and was pleased to meet him!
Funny stuff! I really enjoyed all the silliness & sassiness with a familiar "fake boyfriend for a family wedding" scenario that had some funny and unexpected spins to it! This was coupled with some self-image issues for both guys, who struggled with an age-gap situation, although from opposite point-of-views.
A fun read when you're in the mood for a lighthearted romp with a sparkly twink engaged in figuring out "how to get his man".
Another banger from this author! Every book has me eager for more and this one hasnt disappointed me. Sooo much sass 😁 even the Grandads were getting in on it, it was a joy to read. Clem is the joy Harry needs in his life and as always this author captures it so well you can see it all in your mind as you read it. I must say as sweet as the epilogue was, I was absolutely howling about the vicar and the book receipt. Just topped off the book for me and is exactly the reason I read everything this author puts out. Read this book you won't be disappointed!
I love Lily Morton! Strawberry Moon was such a sweet, funny, and entertaining novella.
Harry and Clem love each other and have been pining for each other for years; ever since Clem started to work for Harry and the bookshop. When Harry is in a bind, Clem offers to be his fake boyfriend for a cousin's wedding.
Clem's grandpa convinces him to use a romance novel as a guide to snag Harry. It works!
While I loved Clem and Harry, the grandfathers stole the show for me.
...sad moment when I finish a Lily Morton book. I never want them to end, because she has always given me such a fun time. I laugh out loud in public, I love her characters, who feel real and relatable and I always wish they actually existed somewhere in England. Her sense of humor is spot on, and I smile for a long while after I close the book at the end. This one, while not long enough, has the same effect.
I forgot to document this book here (thus the strange date for reading the book - I just remember that I read it sometime last summer, so...). Like all of Lily Morton's books, it's simply lovely – a twink who is in love with his boss. Fake dating that turns into real dating. It's not so much the original idea – which isn't that original – but the charming execution. Morton's main characters are always likeable people who you would love to know and be friends with in real life. The same goes for this book!
As I started this novella I knew I'd read it before, it wasn't on my read list, which is odd, but it was all so very familiar. Anyway, a lovely, amusing re-read, a tale that will make you laugh one min and then go aww the next, an utterly delightful mix of entertaining characters. It's been a while since I read works from this author, used to hunt them out some years ago.
I have read that this was originally a story that was part of an anthology. I think it would work that way but as a stand alone it’s quite lacking. I found it too sappy and lacking any sort of depth. I usually really like this author so I found it confusing. I definitely wish I hadn’t paid real money for it.
I've never read a book from Mills and Boone (is it like Harlequin?) but I loved the way a bodice ripper played a role in this hilarious, sweet book by Lily Morton. I so enjoyed this funny book. But is there a book by Lily I didn't enjoy? None. I buy them blind and they NEVER disappoint.
Just what I needed to get over a lingering book hangover.
Lily does, what Lily does best. Harry is the curly haired bookshop owner, and thinks he’s far too old for his assistant Clem. When Harry is invited to a family wedding in Norfolk (I flipping love Norfolk), Clem agrees to go as his pretend boyfriend.
You get older/younger. Boss and employee. Fake boyfriend. Only one bed. So many tropes.
On top of that, you get funny grandpas, who absolutely steal the show.
There’s nothing not to like here. I want to walk to the beach at Old Hunstanton and have a dip in the very cold North Sea, then nip into a beach hut and have a fried egg sandwich on the beach - bacon should be an option for the carnivores.
You even nailed the 75% point "twist of fate" As I read the first 3 to 5 chapters I tried to remember lines that were particularly funny but I was like a rock rolling down hill. Harry and his family turned out to be the funniest people in the book. Except for Clemo's mum and Grandad. Lily even made me cry.
Was initially part of a promotion back in 2024, did a reread before it’s released with an epilogue. Loved this delightful little nugget with two idiots in love, great parents, grandfathers who need their POV’s told, and it’s set in a bookstore!
As always, Lily hits it out of the park. The characters are charming, the interactions make me laugh, and the only thing that would make it better is if it was longer.
Strawberry Moon is another great standalone by Lily Morton. This is a fake dating, age gap, boss/employee, sweet short story about Clem and Harry. Loved this book so much, just wish it was even longer.
This novelette has some of my favorite tropes: fake relationship, forced proximity, one bed... with the added bonus of a romance guidebook. And Lily Morton is a great writer. I recommend it!
This is a fun, sweet and fabulous quick read that I loved. Clem and Harry are a delight and their banter was everything. There is nothing not to like about this book and I highly recommend it.
