Romance can be defined for many as simple as matters of the heart. For some unknown reason, I love a story that begins with the main character returning to their home town. That is where this story begins. The story is told in a unique way, which I find very appealing, from her point of view and his.
I was unfamiliar with Sara Shirley’s previous novels. Not having read her previous books, I was concerned that I would not be able to fully understand the characters or plot. However, as I turned each page, I found myself not only following the story but truly developing affection for her characters.
Lucy Wyatt, the main character, has returned home to her hometown of Breckenridge, a small picturesque country town. For me, this is the perfect setting for a romance. Lucy is not only beautiful but an independent, thoughtful and complicated young woman. She has returned home determined to reconcile her past and finally move on with her life. Jake Galloway is her past. He is handsome, rugged, romantic and sensitive to her needs. For the reader, the choice seems obvious, but for the young at heart it might not always be the case. Just as it can be in real life, love can be uncertain. You feel the characters internal struggle as they try to move forward. This turmoil is very real for these characters. The author reminds us all that falling in love with the right or wrong person can change your life forever.
My romantic heart wanted these two characters to find that lasting honest all-consuming love that I wish for everyone. Do they succeed in finding their way back to each other? You’ll have the read the book, just as I did, with heart and romanticism.
