I hate giving less than 3 stars, however…
I am generally a big fan of Kelani Knox, but I am disappointed with this story. It’s not because her writing is bad or that the story premise was not compelling. In fact I was looking forward to reading the whole story. What got me upset as well as disappointed was the fact that I didn’t feel as if I was reading an interracial romance. I had no problem identifying the male lead as white but when it came to describing the female lead, all I got was a vague reference by the male lead looking for the correct shade of brown hair and the author describing the female leads as having green eyes. Her mother also had green eyes. While I personally have black relatives with green eyes, grey eyes and hazel ones, anyone seeing them knows that they are black. There is no reference to her skin tone or her being mixed race or anything. I felt like I was reading a Harlequin Romance novel like I used to read when I was a teenager where the heroine was white. I’m 64 years old and I want to read about a black female character. I couldn’t finish this book because I lost interest.
