I write diverse, body positive romance because ALL women deserve a sexy love story.

As a recovering yo-yo dieter who has struggled with body image, I channeled those experiences into my debut novel, Fat Girl, and its conclusion, A Naked Beauty. Sadly, I think most women, regardless of their weight or size, can identify with some aspect of body insecurity and self-doubt. I am inspired by the theme of loving yourself and discovering your own intrinsic worth. I want to bring my readers stories that are real, relatable, and entertaining—where strong characters with tough battles and troubled pasts tug at your heartstrings, turn you on, and have you cheering for a beautiful, forever love.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I’m now a proud adopted Canuck, living in Calgary, Alberta, with my husband and daughter. The winters are frigid, but the sun shines 335 days of the year. Tanning in a parka—it happens! Most nights, you will find me in my home office, or on those cold nights, in front of the fireplace, tapping out the many stories in my head.

I liken writing a great romance to a box of Godiva. Decadent and delicious! You can’t stop at just one. xo

This is my first read by this author, and I’m glad I gave her a chance. Take A Shot On Me was such a feel-good read. I loved everything about this book, even down to Queenie’s little feisty self, lol. I am totally invested in this series. I cannot wait for the next book!

Lot and Dice are definitely more than just friends, but they’re not exactly lovers either. They weren’t exclusive, but there was a lot of love between them, even if they often tried to deny it. Their relationship was chaotic, but it didn’t feel messy. What really hooked me was the emotional depth and growth they both went through. Lot’s journey with her dad was super heartbreaking, and Dice’s tough upbringing made him more vulnerable. Watching them face their pasts, make things right, and really learn how to love was such a rewarding experience. And I can’t forget to mention Miss Queenie—she was my absolute favorite!
Thank you Leigh for the ARC!

5/5 stars!!

Thank you so much to Leigh Carron for this amazing ARC!!

Wow yall. This read???? WOWWWWWW. This was so well written, the character development and the pacing of this story?? I'm speechless. Dice and Lot?? UGH!!! My roman empire. I loved how realistically everything in this book flowed as well, and how we could see the emotional development of both Dice and Lot. Neither was willing to give up on each other, but both had their faults as they worked through their struggles together. UGH!!! And Queenie the cat? Please. Such a fun element to this story. Soemthing about friends to strangers to friends to lovers really gets me going everytime like i ate this book UPPPPPP!!! It had so much raw emotion and was so well rounded, i genuinely have no notes on this.

Overall, yall need to pick this up. Like quickly. Yesterday.

This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be checking out other books in her catalog.

This was a fun, steamy, and emotional read! Take A Shot On Me delivers all the drama, humor, and heart you’d want in a friends-to-lovers romance. Lot and Dyson’s chemistry jumps off the page, and their banter is both fiery and sweet. Between the family drama, the rescue cat, and all the feelings they try to ignore, this story keeps you hooked until the very end. A perfect mix of spice, sass, and second chances! Queenie is a true diva if I have ever heard of one, she kept me laughing.

Thank you for allowing me to read an ARC.

This is the second book I’ve read by Leigh Carron, the first being An Imperfect Truth which I really loved, so I was super eager to read this follow on from it which focuses more around Dice & Lot.

Boooooy was this a spicy book! It was a bit too much for me personally, however Dice an Lot are very sex positive/sexual characters, so it did make sense to their storyline. What I loved the most was Leigh’s writing, the character development and their growth. They were both complex/hurt people with massive walls up, so it was great watching them journey towards navigating their feelings for each other, being brave to allow themselves to be vulnerable and take chances not only on love, but with their family dynamics too.

It was also really lovely to have cameos from Lex and Chaz - who is still my favourite MMC of Leigh’s so far 💜 Though Dice and Lot were perfect for each other. Their history and special bond was beautiful so if you like a super spicy, friends to lovers trope then you’ll definitely like this.

*ARC Reader* Oh my gawd! Take A Shot on Me is excellent! Leigh Carron has written another masterpiece. This story has EVERYTHING! The chemistry, the spice, the drama, the angst and the characters gosh the two main characters are so real. Lot the FMC is fierce, stubborn, independent, sassy, and unapologetically herself and has an idea of what she wants and what she feels she needs, but kind of holds back on it. I love that. She’s so beautiful and feisty and comfortable in her skin and will not allow anyone to not treat her with the respect she deserves. Dice the fine af MMC is cocky but gentle and he knows that he’s a Playboy and a player but he also is quick to recognize when he is wrong. I love that Dice recognizes his flaws and is honest about his temper and always knows when to take a break but works through his feelings and trying not to keep up appearances and build up walls. This book is so well written and it’s so funny and each character is so relatable. Queenie brings in so much comic relief with her diva behavior and cuteness to the point where I want to get a cat even though I’m terribly allergic. Take A Shot on Me is a must read!

Lot and Dice's story was full of emotions. They were best friends growing up but she moved to NYC and both closed off to get over the pain, thinking the other was better off not staying in touch. When she is back in town, the sparks fly and they start a friends-with-benefits situation.
Lot was such a strong and independent fmc, she loves her life how she wanted. She also had lots of personal growth with her family, especially her dad throughout the story. Dice was charming and did all he could to prove to Lot how he has always felt. He also had family issues that he went through. Lot and Dice were so supportive of each other in their journey together and apart.

Let’s just say… this book served romance with a chaser of heat and I am absolutely tipsy on it. 🥂

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The chemistry between the bartender with the slow, teasing smile and the curvy, confident heroine sitting at his bar? 🔥 Electric. You can practically feel the tension bouncing off the page (and the bar top).

Leigh Carron gives us banter that bites, kisses that linger, and emotional depth that sneaks up on you between the laughs and late-night confessions. It’s flirty, it’s swoony, and it’s got that “we both know this is a bad idea but I’m doing it anyway” energy that makes romance fans feral in the best way. I got this as an ARC and it was really good.

beautiful story with lots of emotional growth for the characters. I enjoyed how forgiveness is not a given for everyone and they all had to do self work to deserve the other. Queenie is my fave.

This is my first read from Leigh Carron. I loved that Lot & Rayne are unapologetically curvy women. The slow burn was cute though I found myself annoyed with Lot a lot throughout the book. Dice was more vulnerable than she was but it worked. I appreciated the father daughter conflict as well. It was nice to see that unfold and they finding a way to get a long. In the end love found Lot, Dice and Queenie. Looking forward to Rayne’s book.

Thank you to Leigh Carron for my advance copy of Take A Shot On Me. This story had me grinning, side-eyeing, and fully invested from the first page. Lot and Dice’s chemistry is that dangerous mix of comfort and chaos, the kind that makes you want to shake them and then root for them all over again. Between the bar banter, family drama, and all that tension they keep pretending doesn’t exist, this book was a whole vibe. Lot’s sass and Dice’s soft spot for her made it the perfect friends-to-frenemies-to-lovers ride. Whew, the spice was spicing 😮‍💨, and let’s not forget Miss Queenie, the baddest, sassiest cat ever, truly living up to her name.

In Leigh Carron’s Take A Shot On Me, Lot Webber is dreading having to manage her ex-best friend Dyson Jones when her father calls her home to Bayside Harbor to run his bar while he recovers from knee surgery. Until she can return to New York, she plans to avoid Dice as much as possible, throw a little shade his way, and protect her heart. What she doesn’t expect is getting into heated arguments with Dice, then somehow ending up agreeing to be F-buddies after they declare a truce. Lot and Dice’s friendship and lives are complicated by their denial of their true feelings and the depth of their connection, family drama, and Dyson’s family past rearing its ugly head. Will Dice and Lot face their feelings for each other and take a shot on love?

Take a Shot on Me is my first read by Carron, and it won’t be my last. I love her down-to-earth storytelling, writing style, use of language, and authentic and colorful dialogue, which fits her characters and themes. She uses her character senses and her vivid, detailed description and world-building to draw you into the story and the character’s lives to make you feel present with them in each moment. It’s fun how Carron pulls the chapter titles from within the text of the chapters themselves. I love the body positivity that runs throughout the novel. Carron doesn’t shy away from describing Lot’s plus-sized body in loving, specific detail so that you are not left wondering what she looks like. Confident and self-assured, Lot loves her body, and, ‌in kind, she’s attracted to men of all body types. When they’re intimate, Dice hungrily loves on every part of Lot’s body. This makes Take a Shot on Me an even more enjoyable read for plus-sized readers–especially Black women.

Willful, opinionated, proud, and independent, Charlotte is a talented 30-year-old artist who creates graffiti and urban designs and runs an online T-shirt company in NYC. All sharp edges, Lot is a tough fighter with a need for control. She’s wild, chaotic, and uncomfortable with touch and affection, moving through the world with careful detachment. But people who she trusts and lets in know that she has a soft underbelly she doesn’t let show. She’s dramatic, messy, and so funny!

Easygoing, with a good heart and confident swagger, Dyson lives the player lifestyle. Dyson is a bartender at Lot’s father’s bar, who creates signature drinks, and a weekend DJ. With a traumatic, troubled past, Dice keeps his emotions buried and doesn’t scratch beneath the surface of things or problems, preferring to let things lie and avoid drama.

I love Dice and Lot’s relationship. They’ve had each other’s backs and supported each other since they were children. Carron deepens Dice and Lot’s connection and transitions their relationship from friends to lovers through snarky banter, humorous, steamy and intimate interactions and love scenes that are deeply sensual and emotional at the same time. Lot and Dice balance each other, and match each other’s sexual energy and freak, making it feel safe to explore and try new things together. They’re so into each other and down bad, but afraid of being exposed that they hide their emotions, which complicates things between them. It’s frustrating! I love Dice’s POV and how into Lot he is, how much he cares for her. His voice is so distinct and well-written. Lot is the first person Dice ever trusted and felt something genuine for. She looked out and cared for Dice. Their chemistry is electric and full of sparks.

Carron wonderfully explores the scary parts of transitioning from lifetime friends to lovers, taking risks, following dreams, family relationships/ties and family drama. I hope Lot’s cousin Rayne gets her own book because I really like her, and I’m totally drawn into her story. Take A Shot On Me is a sweet, steamy, hilarious, emotional, high heat, fast-paced romance recommended for forced proximity, friends-to-lovers, heroes-who-fall-fast-and-hard-for-the-heroine, secret/perceived unrequited love, pining, Black love, multicultural romance, forbidden romance, childhood crush, restaurant/bar-themed, family-centered, steamy rom-com, sassy plus-sized female character, big-hearted reformed player, plus-sized/body positivity romance fans.

Thanks to Leigh Carron for the ARC.

I received an advanced copy of the e-book.

First, I would like to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to get a chance to read this book before the world gets an opportunity to experience it. I found this book to be a really good read. It was completely relatable. If you’re looking for a rushed fast paced book. This is definitely not it, this book was meticulously written to give you nearly all the details of a true love story a reality that a lot of us face! Meaning it is relatable! What girl is not stubborn, knowing that a man wants her, but tries to play it off because she doesn’t want her heart to be broken! 👀👀!! And vice versa with the men!

Lot is definitely stubborn, hardheaded lol but she has a heart of gold. she does what she does best and that is to protect herself. Dice has been in her life since childhood (best friends) they experienced so much trauma together they understood each other beyond words. The connection they share is more than what they both want to believe .The way that they were written even in detail about the things that they went through under the love that they have for each other. I honestly don’t think that it could’ve been expressed any better. TRUE CHEMISTRY!! Dice your typical Playboy strong job on fresh waves, beautiful complexion tall a body to die for yet no matter what he offers on the outside. It’s easy to entertain multiple women, but what is not easy is letting go or watching your true soulmate leave not once but TWICE! Was he willing to hang up his playa ways !! That I won’t spoil for you!😉! Every character played a significant role in the story, no character was left short of their own story and even though it may not be a long story, you knew everybody’s place, and it did not make the storyline confusing! This book was overall five stars for me from the beginning of the story to the end! This story can bring you in various emotions ( me personally half the time I wanted to knock lot lol and tell her to give our boy dice a break! But hey he made his bed or truthfully maybe she was the issue 👀👀!! 😮 lol

I can’t wait for everyone to read this book! Well written! Amazing character development, amazing story line! Lots of spice 🥵🥵🥵!! And definitely a journey of emotions that’s worth every page!!

I do not have the words to adequately capture how much I loved and adored this story! Lot & Dice have stolen my heart and I cannot wait to read their story again. They brought high spice & deep emotion and will be going on my comfort read/brings me joy list.

Lot is an artist who lives in New York and grew up in Bayside.

Dice is an artist and bartender who grew up in Bayside & still lives there.

They knew each other as kids. They lived on the same street and were best friends. Then she moved to New York and things broke between them. Both were hurt but neither knew. She is back in town to help at her father's bar. Things are tense. And the tension builds. Until they agree to a fun buddies situation. Which just makes things complicated as they both pretend there are no feelings involved. Cue the delicious moments & intense emotions!

Lot is possibly the greatest woman ever written. She is fierce and bold and powerful. And she is guarded and cautious and doesn't trust easily. She doesn't do relationships but has loved Dice from afar for years. She could choose to just have fun and stay in her comfort zone, but she chooses to do the work and start examining her relationships & responses and it is inspiring & emotional.

Dice is a gorgeous man, inside and out. And he is a good man. Stunted in some ways & unsure of how to love or what it means to be in a relationship, but good. He fought against his raising to be the man he is and he continues to fight against it to learn how to love and how to be loved. Oh my heart!

These two together are amazing. They are hot & intense (hello cuff scene!), but also soft & vulnerable. The way they fight for each other and learn how to communicate? Gorgeous.

And Queenie? The best! Seriously, she wins all the best pet in a book awards.

Leigh's writing is so unbelievably good. Honestly, at the end of her books, I feel like my brain chemistry has been changed. The way she crafts characters & stories is impressive and my brain & heart love her words.

I received this as an ARC and could not be more grateful. This had zero impact on my review.

Writing this with actual tears in my eyes lmao

Lot and Dice's story was wonderful. Both cautious people who were hesitant to let their walls down and love each other properly, they side-stepped their feelings and decided to be "friends with benefits", all the while *kinda* living together, and basically raising a cat together.

More than friends, but not quite lovers, is the best way to describe these two, they weren't exclusive but they were, they loved each other, but denied it, their relationship was chaotic, but not messy. Once I started reading this I couldn't put this down, and much to my boyfriend's dismay, I did send him 20+ messages of me crying lmao. Once Lot and Dice admitted their feelings for each other the waterworks came.

The MCs supported each other, had the kinda relationship that started as childhood best friends turned more, was filled with sass, love, and overall warmth. The relationship between the two was fun to read but even their relationships with the side characters was fun to read! Lot and Rayne's familial dynamic was full of support and moments that had me chuckling, and even Lot and her father had me thinking "Awe they're so similar, it's adorable." Dice and his best friend C had a real bromance and their little bet was just as cute.

This story was so much more than just sex, sass, love, and the diva that is Miss Queenie. It showed the struggles that the MCs had, especially Dice. Overall, Take A Shot On Me was a beautiful second-chance romance story and one that I'll go back to reading again and again. The ending didn't wrap up in all pretty sparkles and rainbows, Dice didn't become buddy-buddy with a certain character, there was no pregnancy (which I loved, happy endings don't always mean a child), there was no Lot and her father becoming besties, but it was perfect. It ended in a way that fit THEM. Dice reached a huge milestone, Lot's new line was popping off, Dice gained a new friendship with another character, and Lot and her father are mending their relationship.

I was so so pleased with how this story started, flowed, and ended. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to ARC read this, it was everything I was hoping for and way more.

✨ARC Review✨ Take a Shot on Me by @leighcarronauthor Releases 11/6/25 & is a must read!

From the very first page, this one never let up. Solid from start to finish — the pacing, the tension, the emotion — all of it hit exactly how it should. We get a dual POV, childhood friends-to-lovers story featuring Dice & Lot, and y’all… the chemistry is chef’s kiss.

Lot is that girl — fierce, full of attitude, bad bish energy with sharp edges but a soft, guarded underbelly. Talented & the kind of character who’s careful with her heart but still impossible not to love. Dice, on the other hand, is that man who moves like he’s unbothered, but underneath all that calm is a storm — both of them still holding onto anger and regret due to words left unsaid. Eventually they take heed, “Carry the past like a weight and that shit will sink you.”

The banter, the flow, the writing style — all so on point. Leigh’s dialogue and pacing kept me hooked, and the character growth for Dice and Lot was beautifully done. You feel every ounce of frustration, love, and healing right alongside them.

And let’s talk about the spice🥵 — it was heavy throughout but perfectly woven in, never overpowering the story or the emotion. Hunty, you might learn a few new tricks 🤭.

Side characters? On point. You can already tell they’ve got stories waiting to be told. BAEs OF BAYSIDE coming to us soon! Listen … Queenie the cat was a whole side character for real to me! That little furball had personality and perfect comedic timing.

Thank you for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! This was the total package for me! SN: We would def buy Lot’s graphic tees!!! #TakeAShotOnMe #LeighCarron #ARCReview #Bookstagram #FriendsToLovers #BlackRomance #IndieAuthorLove #BookReview #SpicyReads #BookRecs

This book had me smiling, sighing, and low-key kicking my feet more times than I’d like to admit 😅. Leigh Carron did such a good job blending romance, humor, and real emotion that I honestly couldn’t put it down.

The story follows Lot, a woman who’s strong to a fault, the type that would rather wrestle her own problems than ask for help and Dice, the man who knows exactly how to get under her skin. Their chemistry is undeniable, but it’s the history between them that really makes things interesting. You can feel that push and pull, that love wrapped in pride and old wounds.

One of my favorite parts was their banter, it’s funny, sharp, and full of tension. At one point, Lot describes Dice as “chocolate-truffle fine” (and honestly… she wasn’t wrong 😌). Another line that stuck with me was when he teases her, saying, “She’s you in feline form. Only tamer.” The way they bounce off each other made their relationship feel real, imperfect, but full of spark.

And can we talk about Queenie, Lot’s cat? I adored her😂😂😂. She had that same bold, moody energy that every cat owner knows too well. I couldn’t help but laugh because Queenie reminded me so much of my own cat, Daisy same sass, same side-eye, same “I rule this house” attitude. It made those scenes even more relatable and endearing.

Beyond the flirting, it’s also a story about growth and second chances. Lot’s learning that letting someone in doesn’t make her weak. Dice is trying to show her he’s not the same man she used to know. Together, they walk that fine line between old hurt and new hope and watching them find their way back is both emotional and satisfying.

If you love romances that feel grown, full of heart, humor, and just the right amount of spice, Take A Shot On Me will definitely hit the spot.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5) | 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Take a Shot on Me by Leigh Carron had me feeling every emotion possible. They ranged from laughter to heartbreak to fanning myself behind my Kindle! I was hooked from the very start and couldn’t put it down. The banter between Lot (Charlotte) and Dice (Dyson) was absolutely electric! It was sharp, flirty, and perfectly balanced with deeper, emotional moments. Even when they were butting heads, their chemistry was off the charts.

Lot was all sass and spice! She was bold, confident, and unafraid to speak her mind. I adored her fire. Dyson, on the other hand, was the smooth charmer with undeniable player energy, but from the beginning, it was clear that Lot had the power to shake up his entire world. When I say these two were down bad for each other? I mean down bad! The spice in this book? I wasn’t ready! There were scenes that had me clutching my invisible pearls. These two definitely knew how to match each other’s freak (word to Tinashe).

Beyond the heat, though, what really pulled me in was the emotional depth and growth both characters went through. Lot’s journey with her father tugged at my heart, and Dice’s complicated upbringing added such a vulnerable layer to his character. Watching them both confront their pasts, make amends, and truly learn to love was so satisfying to witness.

Leigh Carron delivered a story that’s equal parts fiery, heartfelt, and redemptive. If you love second chances, sizzling chemistry, and emotional character arcs, Take a Shot on Me is absolutely worth your time.

ARC REVIEW
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Lot and Dice’s love story was so real super funny and beautifully written. The chemistry, the spice, the tension the way their love unfolded. It was everything!!

Lot was unapologetically herself, and I loved that about her. She stood on business in everything except her feelings for Dice. They were childhood friends, but once she left for New York, they stopped talking for five years.

When she comes back home to help with her dad’s bar, who’s still there…Dice! And he is still fine, still remembering everything lol. He’s the head bartender and DJ, but Lot’s still holding onto how things ended before she left. Miscommunication, chile. Dice might be a f-boy, but he gotta heart. He’s trying to be friends (or more 👀) and keeps showing up no matter how hard she tries to ignore him.

Then enters Queenie the cat. And baby, she is a queen and sassy just like her momma 😂. That cat basically turned their lives upside down.(she runs the show lol) Before you know it, Lot and Dice are in a friends-with-benefits situation AND we all know how that goes lol. Now Dice got two feral cats…Queenie and Lot 😭.

But honestly, I loved watching them get to know each other again in this new stage of life, sex, and friendship. They were freaking freaking lolol, but the real beauty was seeing their connection deepen. The vulnerability, the respect, the love. Seeing them face life’s curveballs together was just so good.

This book gave more than I expected, and I loved every single bit of it! Thank you Leigh for the early access can’t wait for the next one.

Oh Dice… and Lot. Take me back. I loved this book in more ways than one. 🥵

Take a Shot On Me is a second chance romance with two STUBBORN, HARD HEADED ex best friends. Lot is a graphic designer and Dice is a DJ/ Bartender. Both dreamers and go getters. Lot marches to the beat of her own drum and I loved it. 🥰

This story was perfectly written and you can tell it was made with pure love and dedication. No detail extra and nothing was left unsaid. I loved the way their story and what they went through was so thought out and spoken about. Every character meant something. It was all relatable.

Dice is a typical playboy still pining over his childhood best friend Lot. Lot wants one thing, to protect her self and stay off of Dice’s roaster. That didn’t last long, what was meant to stay “casual” festered into love that was always there just hidden and unspoken. The chemistry that these two had on paper was just so delicious and SPICY.

Let’s not forget Queenie, that cat was the star of the show 😂 her personality was just as big as Lot’s.

Both of them were NASTY in the best possible way. The spicy scenes had me kicking my feet, blushing and screaming at my screen. This is an absolute must read.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

The artwork for this book?? Complete chokehold. It is GORGEOUS!!!

This is my first Leigh Carrona book and it will NOT be my last.

So first don’t let the cartoon cover fool you. They were some freaky frogs man(I didn’t know you could do that with strawberries). Anyway, this was a pretty good second chance romance. Lot & Dice irritated me at one point because WHY ARE Y’ALL PLAYING IN EACH OTHER’S FACES KNOWING HOW MUCH Y’ALL LOVE EACH OTHER😤But fear will do that and make you miss out on what’s destined to be yours. That almost happened but thankfully they learned from the first time. And when they decided to be in…they were in & I loved their relationship!

I also really appreciated the character development. They were two emotionally stunted people but over time you saw their walls crumble and them leaning into each other and growing together. I appreciated the plus size rep without there being a lick of insecurity in sight. Lot loved herself unapologetically and Dice worshipped her. Also Queenie was a cute side character. Love sassy pets🤣

This was my first read by this author and I’ll definitely go back to visit Chaz/Leigh’s story and I look forward to Rayne’s story next.

This book was everything!!! The chemistry and the way they handled situations together was perfect. I love me some Lot..she was an artist who was a strong independent take no sh*t kinda girl. She stood her ground and knew exactly who she was and what she wanted until she ran back into her childhood best friend/ crush Dice. Dice was a Dj and Play boy with abandonment issues not looking for love until Lot come back in town. Lot and Dice is everything they both thought they didn’t need but really deserved. The spicy in the book was top tier and I love how they was both open to new things. The way they both supported and lean on each other as they dealt with personal challenges show growth and trust in the situation. I’m not a cat lover but Ms. Queenie was that girl and I feel like she help bring them together.

I'm in love. on the face of it we have two commitments phobes, childhood friends turned salty with buckets of sexual tension. Of course the banter is on point and the spice is unreal.. ( like unreal unreal these 2 strong personalities give us a show 🥵) But more thant that i have rarely read a book where the complexity of the characters is so perfect. Layers and layers of trauma, and struggles and accepting different aspects of themselves and hope and dreams and yearning and hurt and care and shame... seriously all the emontions all the layers. its hot and snarky but guts you in the chest with feelings. i am obsessed. you do not understand the intensity of this relationship, nothing is perfect, but you just have to be their. one of my favorite books this year.

There's so much right with this book!
Leigh Carron has, once again, written a beautifully confident fat woman in Lot, but she's also provided readers with Dice, a fine ass man who loudly and proudly appreciates all her soft, squishy, and jiggly bits.
'Take A Shot On Me' balances both a story about growth and maturing alongside some hot and filthy spice. Lot and Dice are brimming with tension, which often results in incredible frustration (for me) regarding their pining. I found myself literally screaming at these two to get their shit together over and over again, until they finally did.

Thank you for gifting me an advanced reader copy. Review reflective of my personal opinions

This is easily the best romance book I have read in a long time, possibly ever. Lot and Dice are so well fleshed out, so flawed, and so perfect. I was laughing, crying, and just loving every moment. Even though they get hot and heavy fairly early on, their slow burn into becoming real and raw with each other makes it perfect in every way. No moment was left as a short, quick, or fleeting thing. It felt like I was with them in every scrambled egg for Queenie, every intimate moment, and every emotional event and conversation. I love them both SO much. I can’t rave about Lot and Dice enough. And the photo at the end? Sobbing 😭 This was a second chance romance done right. The spice was also SCORCHING and felt just as messy and wild as their love for each other is.

"Take A Shot On Me" is a spicy but cozy second-chance romance about two childhood friends who, in their own way, walked away from their love. Dice and Lot are reconnected by chance. Even though, there was a little resistance in the beginning, the chemistry was undeniable. Don't get me started on the lusty details because this one was spicy! I am big on character development and the individual backgrounds of the characters. I loved to see them both overcome their childhood traumas and the mending of relationships with the secondary characters. I think this book covered a lot of real topics and also shows that communication can fix many things. Overall, I enjoyed my introduction to Bayside. I can't wait for the next books in the series.

✨ ARC Review | Take A Shot On Me 🍸 by Leigh Carron ✨

Listen… Lot and Dice had no business being that hot and that stubborn at the same time 😭🔥
Between the bar drama, the cat with attitude, and that fake “we’re just friends” lie they kept telling — this was such a good time.

Lot was spicy, confident, and trying her best not to fall for the one man who could really see her. Dice? A certified playboy with a heart he pretends not to have — but that man was gone for her from page one. Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts.

Lot was learning to be soft again, and Dice was the kind of man you want to argue with and fall asleep next to. The banter, the tension, the growth? Chef’s kiss.

The Definition of Grown Black Love

Whew! This book ate. In every sense of the word The spice? Perfect. The angst? Felt, but balanced. The heart and humor? Hit every note. Lot and Dice had that kind of chemistry that burns slow but steady, with moments so tender they sneak up on you. Lot was strong, grounded, and unapologetically herself, and Dice, flawed but willing to grow, matched her energy beautifully… loved her beautifully.

The banter had me grinning, the emotional beats landed hard, and Queenie, honestly deserves her own novella. This was the right mix of sexy, funny, and heartfelt. A beautiful, authentic Black love story that felt real and grown. My first read by Leigh Carron, but definitely not my last.

Thank you to author Leigh Carron for the gifted eARC. These are my honest and personal thoughts.

Summary: Temporarily forced to return home to cover the family business, Lot is also forced to confront issues that she has long since run from. Dice, the businesses bartender/ DJ and ladies man, has buried his past and pretends it doesn’t affect him. Both are afraid of the connection between them after all these years and aren’t sure if opening up that door is worth taking the shot.

Thoughts: This was a great second chance romance!! I absolutely lost sleep following Lot and Dice’s journey lol. I truly enjoyed how all along the way we got to see both their relationship and family problems be addressed. It wasn’t just everyone getting the perfect ending to issues, but instead showed very realistic ways of communicating through them and finding common ground. I just loved how Dice and Lot’s journey comes together in the end. WHEW THE SPICE WAS SPICY! Loved it!!
