Hannah Fraser only wants two things: to become a big-time content creator and to find and marry an impressive Mr. Right. But in tiny Fraser’s Mill, Michigan, where Hannah’s video channel is struggling and she’s been disappointed by the guy she liked all summer, it’s hard to do either thing. Hannah can’t wait to get back to Chicago. But when her parents swap houses with a family from Germany, Hannah is appalled to learn that she’s stuck in her parents’ vacation home in Fraser’s Mill for six months.
Trying to raise money for her own Chicago apartment, Hannah takes a job as office administrator in her family’s sawmill. She begrudgingly befriends her co-worker, dispatcher Jack Rogers. A strong, glasses-wearing farm boy who moonlights as a deputy sheriff, Jack is clearly interested in Hannah. As Jack rescues her from distressing situations, and as they spend time together, Hannah’s feelings about him are getting confused. Is it just friendship she feels for Jack, or is it something more?
Then a suave, good-looking, well-traveled stranger from Chicago—just the kind of guy Hannah’s been looking for—comes to town. Now she has to decide what she really values: is it the glamorous, impressive life she’s envisioned, or Jack, his kindness, and the warm community she’s found in Fraser’s Mill?
Hannah Fraser’s Autumn is a cozy, light-hearted story by author Ursi Engebretsen. If you like clean contemporary romance with humor, cute romantic moments, and small-town autumn vibes, then you’ll love this heart-warming story of friendship, kindness, and appreciating the people in your life.
Ursi Engebretsen has always loved a good love story with a happy ending. So she decided to write some of her own—cozy clean romances with sparks flying, strong family themes, and picturesque settings, with the light and joy of the Gospel shining through. Although her characters have their struggles and problems, she wants her readers to walk away happy and uplifted at the end of every book.
Ursi grew up in Michigan and received her BA in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College in California. She’s a Catholic Christian, a writer, a musician, a voracious reader, and a country girl at heart. Her day job is directing music and playing the pipe organ at her church. She likes bubble tea, a good sunrise, and using too many exclamation points. (She’s working on that last one.)
Hannah Fraser’s Autumn was my first ARC read and it did not disappoint!🤎 it’s a clean and cozy small town romance with the friends to lovers trope😆 definitely a book to add to your fall tbr🍂
🚨Spoilers🚨
Just a few thoughts😉
- Jack Rogers is a dark haired, protective, thoughtful lumber mill dispatcher/Deputy Sheriff who loves books, food, old westerns, and Hannah Fraser🤭 trust me, he’s amazing🤎
- Hated Blake immediately and I was definitely upset with Hannah when she kept hurting Jack😢
- Loved the subtle references to LOTR, John Wayne, and Bonanza😁
- Lastly, I was very happy to see the references to pro-life and concealed carry🙌🏻
I just finished Hannah Fraser’s Autumn and found the story absolutely beautiful. 🍂💛
It’s a clean romance written in third-person POV, set in a small town with a cozy family business, friends-to-romance vibes, and just the right touch of drama. One thing to note—it does reference the Catholic Church, which I’m not very familiar with.
I received a copy of this book as an ARC, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review. All thoughts are completely my own.
- 3rd Person, single POV (Hannah Fraser) - Christian (Catholic) Fiction - kisses only romance - Book 2 (fine as a standalone)
"There's a lot of pressure nowadays to 'go big.' But I think the people making the biggest impact in this world aren't the superstars, but just ordinary people doing what they can to help in their own little way."
Book 1, Summer at Fraser's Mill was one of my very first ARCs (the one that ignited my love of ARC reading) and also my very first 5 ⭐ read of the year. I enjoyed it so much that I knew as soon as this one was announced that it would be a must read. I can happily tell you that I was not let down or disappointed.
Like Summer, I found the religious elements portrayed nicely. And even though this is specifically based around the Catholic faith those who are not Catholic (Lutheran here) as well as those who are not religious at all can still read and enjoy.
Hannah Fraser's Autumn is such a sweet story about a woman who thinks she has everything figured out. She finds that the things she didn't plan for may in fact be worth a change of heart. Also, I'm wholeheartedly with her in her dislike of Jar Jar Binks, no change of heart needed there. This small town is really endearing and I enjoyed the love and support the people share with each other.
Hannah went through a good amount of beautiful character growth throughout this very well written story. The other characters, especially our dearly delightful Jack, added so much depth and kept things interesting. Jack was super sweet, honestly the most perfect cinnamon roll. I love Ursi's writing style and can't wait to see what comes next in her future books.
Happy Book Birthday! Hannah Fraser's Autumn releases today!
I had the honor of reading this book as an ARC from the author. It is a really cute story about a woman who is still in the process of discovering who she is and what she really wants out of life, being stuck in a rural town in northwest Michigan.
Hannah is fairly sheltered, which makes her act and respond a bit younger than her stated age, and can be a bit of an unlikeable character at the start of the story. She wants to be a social media influencer and is looking for the perfect urban, sophisticated partner to help her in this endeavor. She is a trust fund baby, but has dreams of being able to support her lifestyle through her social media, instead of her trust fund.
Jack is the kind-hearted boy-next-door who has lived in this town his whole life. He works with Hannah by day and moonlights as a deputy sheriff at night. He is a good man from a good family, who loves kids and has endless patience. But, to Hannah, he's seen as a little boring and is initially friend-zoned.
An exciting city boy from Hannah's hometown of Chicago enters the scene and starts pursuing her. Will Hannah fall for the new guy in town and realize the life she always pictured having? Or will she fall for the quiet man with a heart of gold?
I really appreciated Hannah's character development and the few plot twists we got along the way. A good cozy, comforting read -- great for those chilly autumn days when you are snuggled into a blanket with a mug of hot apple cider!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A charming and heartfelt autumn read Autumn by Ursi Engebretsen is a charming YA novel that follows Hannah Fraser, a city-loving young adult who reluctantly spends time in a small mill town she wants no part of. At first, Hannah’s resistance to everything local—from the quiet streets to the unfamiliar faces—is frustrating but relatable. However, when an unexpected tragedy strikes, it forces her to confront her assumptions and reevaluate what—and who—truly matters to her. The emotional shift in Hannah is handled with subtlety and care, making her journey feel authentic. While the story does drag a bit and could have moved a little faster, the novel as a whole is an easy, comforting autumn read with real emotional depth. Perfect for fans of character-driven stories with a touch of small-town soul.
I finished this book with a smile on my face. Hannah Fraser's Autumn was a clean, light read with a sweet, small town romance. This heartwarming story touched on dealing with change, disappointment, new friendships, and finding love in unexpected places.
The pace is slow in a comfortable, laid-back manner, like taking a stroll. It may take time to get accustomed to for some, but I had no problem. I imagined each scene described in detail and enjoyed the beautiful locations, events, people, and food. The story flowed smoothly, and as it progressed, the more I related to Hannah. I probably would have responded as she did in some scenarios or fallen into similar mishaps. As she made discoveries about herself and others, her character arc felt natural.
This was my first book by Ursi Engebretsen and I wasn't affected by not reading book 1 yet. If you've read Summer at Fraser's Mill, you'll enjoy seeing familiar characters in Hannah Fraser's Autumn. I want to thank Ursi for sharing an ARC of this wonderful story.
First I would like to thank the author for an arc of her book! I absolutely loved it! I loved Jack so much! I don’t see how she didn’t like him sooner. He was so kind to her and so thoughtful. She was extremely oblivious to a lot of things that were happening around her. Especially about Blake. He was so horrible I don’t know how she liked him at all! I’m so glad she finally realized who she was truly in love with! 4 stars ⭐️ No language No spice
What in the farm boy/city boy romance is this amazing story!! Goodness, I was rooting for Jack the whole time, but Blake!! He seemed to fit Hannah better-ish. Like a whole wonky love triangle. I was pretty much guessing to the end who Hannah would end up with, and man the ending did not disappoint!!!
My first ARC review🥹 I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy recently and this book was a much needed break☺️ It’s cozy and light, a great read that helps you step into autumn. A little bit predictable in some parts, but fun to read. Small town guy meets big city girl and the rest is history.
I really enjoyed this story except for one thing: I just plain thought Hannah was clueless! She finally gets it together in the end, but I did enjoy reading her story, especially the little mystery in it.
Loved this book sm! The character arc was just perfection. We meet Hannah in Summer at Fraser’s mill, and she comes across as stuck up and snobby. Then we get to see her true personality shine in Hanna Fraser’s Autumn. The writing was perfection, I adore how Ursi brings her characters to life. Jack was so sweet, but poor guy kept getting hurt and I felt so bad for him. He’s just super lovable, and I adore his family relationship. The two of them create such a sweet read, the moments between them were truly precious. I was swept into the story of trials and difficulties keeping Hannah in a quaint little town rather than big city Chicago. She expands her social circle and makes new friends, I love that she pushes herself out of her comfort zone even if she would rather not. The setting was super cute, I mean Hannah lives in a lakeside cabin, and it’s just perfectly cozy for fall. I recommend for those looking for a sweet, clean read that has mostly low stakes and is super bingeable.
This book is such a great read, I really enjoyed it! I thought it was a really cute story. It's always so nice to find clean romance books. This is a great fall feel-good story. I didn't want to finish it, and now that I have I can't wait to read it again!
I received this book as an ARC. I was not required to leave a good review for it. These thoughts are my own.
ARC REVIEW: Wow, I absolutely loved this book!! While I do think the end was a little fast, this book was so sweet and funny. Hannah is incredibly driven and working towards a certain goal but ultimately trying to make life work where she’s at which I admire. Jack was such a dream boat and I found myself getting so mad when Hannah didn’t see it. I really enjoyed the side plot involving Blake because it felt like a bit of suspense was added too!!
Overall, this was a book that felt realistic, intentional and fun. This will absolutely be a reread!!
Thank you to Ursi Engebretsen on Instagram for giving me an Advanced Readers Copy. All thoughts expressed are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.
