This is my first book by this author and it’s promising. I’m curious to see how Heather copes as she progresses in law enforcement.
We’re introduced to newly qualified rookie deputy Heather King, the first book in the series of ten books. Driven by a desire to uncover the mystery of her sister’s disappearance, she joins the force. Currently, she’s learning the ropes.
On her first day, she’s thrown into the deep end, assisting on a murder case alongside an experienced detective.
Heather possesses a unique ability to spot patterns faster than some seasoned detectives. This makes her an invaluable asset as a detective, though it often leads to conflicts with the sheriff.
A serial killer is on the loose, targeting young girls with striking similarities to his ex-wife. He believes he’s saving them from becoming like her.
When Heather breaks protocol, she faces serious trouble. Will she survive to explain herself?

GR states it won't be published until November 2025... perhaps this is for mass publication? IDK?
Regardless, I just finished, and think this is one of the best books she's written. The characters are real, the plot is strong and well developed, the story reads smoothly drawing you into its intensity, and it is a definite page turner where you can't put it down because you're hoping to find out clues or more info on the next page just so you can take a break only to grab you again and keep you reading.
I just finished a book she wrote and was very frustrated with how she portrayed her law enforcement characters. They were all so stereotypical that it completely ruined the book. This was written thoughtfully.

Regardless, I just finished, and think this is one of the best books she's written. The characters are real, the plot is strong and well developed, the story reads smoothly drawing you into its intensity, and it is a definite page turner where you can't put it down because you're hoping to find out clues or more info on the next page just so you can take a break only to grab you again and keep you reading.

A young Rookie after a serial killer is finding her way in the police department. She has a good mentor and as they work the case ideas keep coming to her. Another good read from Kate Bold
Good read, but too many mentions of the missing sister. Every chapter almost has a nod to her and being the reason for becoming an officer. Annoying really but besides that, a good book
