Beautiful Surrender

“All I have is time, and I’ll spend every moment of it convincing you that we are worth the risk."

Jaxon
One tragic accident was all it took to turn my life upside down. Now the ranch I once loved feels like a reminder of everything I lost, and keeping people at a distance is the only thing that still makes sense.
Craving a distraction, I create an online identity where I can seek pleasure without the complication of feelings. No expectations. No risk. Until I meet Callie Cooper. At first, she’s just another anonymous subscriber, but she quickly becomes the one connection I can’t walk away from.
Callie is the only one who lifts the darkness, even if keeping her means breaking every rule I set for myself the day my life fell apart.

Callie
Fight or flight has been my default setting for as long as I can remember. So when my online crush becomes all too real, I do what I do best. I run.
Jaxon Hayes hides his damage behind piercing green eyes and a playful grin, and I bury mine beneath a layer of distrust and humility. Our jagged edges don’t fit, but he keeps reaching for me anyway, and I’m starting to wonder what it would feel like to reach back.

I was so happy to recieve this book as an Arc, as i loved the first book in the series.... and this one hit just as good!

Callie & Jax make you feel ALL the feels and i absolutely ate this up.

The trauma, the tension and the overall story was what made this such an amazing read! Who doesn't want to be a Hayes girl... cause i do!

Can not wait to read Griffin and Angie's story! I NEED that as my next fix!

thank you to the author for giving me an arc in exchange for an honest review about this book!

i wanna start off that i love willa kay! a reoccurring thing in her books is that she takes time to handle sensitive topics in the perfect manner as well as carve a space for plus size representation. because at the end of the day, just because we are bigger girls doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t have the same rep in the books we read.

callie was an amazing character and i feel like i related to her a lot! being 26 and a librarian (well id like to be one one day lol) as well as dealing with past trauma that makes it harder for you to trust others.

jaxon was green flags all around like usual with willa’s mmcs. he’s got his own issues to work through and him and callie are able to do that together.

near the end i was just kind of over it with the sex scenes, there was nothing wrong with them, they are well written like always i just didn’t feel the need to have the amount that there was in this book. but the whole thing is that callie is a virgin so like i totally understand that when they finally do it they can’t keep their hands off of each other. but overall still an amazing read! i love how we get to see past characters and meet the future ones 🤭

I LOVE JAXON!!

I devoured this book. I couldn't put it down.
My heart was broken and put back together all in the same book!
Callie was so relatable, being alone for so long and constantly living in flight or fight. Anyone who has suffered at the hands of someone else understands the loneliness and the difficulty of trusting someone. I feel like this was portrayed and written so beautifully.
Then we have Jaxon. What a tortured soul he is. Blaming himself for things out of his control and battling with his demons. What he did to relax and do to have a connection to someone without needing a connection (no matter how hot 😉 or lucrative it might be).
Nobody deserves happiness more than. these two and I could have kept reading about Callie and Jax 🩷🩷
Thank you so much for this ARC!

✨Book Review✨
Beautiful Surrender
Book 2 in The Whispering Oak Ranch Series
Rating: 4.5⭐️
Spice: 3🌶️

Willa can literally do no wrong. Beautiful Surrender had me deep in my feelings from start to finish.
Every single one of Callie’s flashbacks had me seeing RED. My heart hurt so badly for her. No child should ever have to go through what she did. But watching her grow into such a strong, unbreakable woman? That’s what got me. Going from a home that didn’t show her a single ounce of love to finding a family that absolutely showers her in it had me in tears.

And Jaxon…oh sweet, confident Jaxon. That man had me grinning nonstop. The way he stepped in and took care of Callie without hesitation? Umm yes please!! But watching him wrestle with whether or not to tell her who he really is had me screaming at him: dudeee out with it! And when he finally made peace with what happened all those years ago? Full. Blown. Waterworks. I just wanted to hug him.

Callie and Jaxon are perfect for each other. Two totally different backgrounds, both carrying broken pieces, and somehow they’re exactly what the other needs to feel whole.

The spice? Heating up.
The Hays family? Still the most loving, ride or die crew ever. If you’re craving a small town romance with emotional depth, healing, swoony hero energy, and a whole lotta heat… Beautiful Surrender needs to be your next read.

Tropes
•small town romance
•forced proximity
•trauma/healing
•hidden identity
•he falls first
•he’s pierced (for every inch)
•cowboy x librarian

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade – that was the saying, right?

It's a shame that Calliope - Callie - Cooper wasn't like that when her mum remarried, her sister ran away from home without explanation, and her stepfather wasted no time in taking it out on his “new” daughters, ultimately giving his full “attention” to Callie...

It is precisely here that something clicks in the girl's mind, and she decides to change the game, knowing that everything could go against her.

Almost fifteen years pass since that event that changed her life and forced her to hide, to constantly look over her shoulder.
She ends up working in an interactive library for both adults and children, and one evening there is a man who has been eyeing her for some time: the much sought-after bachelor cowboy, Jaxon Hayes.

It's a shame that both of them, in their own way, hide secrets and scars that they are not yet ready to talk about.

But one way or another, fate always knows how to intervene, and old wounds and new passions will emerge stronger and more intermittent than before!

I love the Willaverse, and I couldn't wait for this ARC to drop into my inbox.

I fell in love with Jax and all his brokenness in a heartbeat, and I wanted to hug him during the whole novel. Grief is so hard to depict and Willa did it wonderfully. Uncle Jaxy is probably the sweetest thing ever, him taking the girls to story time at the library to get his Calle fill was adorable. I loved being able to get a glimpse of the rest of the characters in the Willaverse.

Callie is such a badass I don't even know where to start with her. She had to do everything on her own and she is so resilient. It's so hard for her to let people in, but when she finally does and she gets the family she deserves... It melted my heart.

They are adorable together, I giggled like a schoolgirl, blushed with the spicy scenes and cried my eyes out. The whole package. Thank you for this wonderful treasure. My first 5-star read of the year.

Can't wait for more love stories in this universe. Apart from Griffin & Angelina, I sensed Noah & Clio and Ben & Catherine... Fingers crossed.

100% recommended!
Happy reading! 💕

Beautiful Surrender - Willa Kay

This book completely wrapped itself around my heart. Callie was such a beautiful FMC and one I connected with so deeply. Her backstory is heavy and heartbreaking and she’s very much a woman who has given up on being saved, yet she still falls in love with books. Honestly the perfect FMC for any book girlies. Soft in the places that matter and strong where it counts.

And Jaxon. Ahhh. What a beautifully muddled man. A nerdy hot cowboy with tattoos yes please, but also layered with secrets and depth. And that tongue of his absolutely does not quit. More than anything though he says everything my heart needed to hear. The way he shows up emotionally genuinely felt healing to read.

The connection between Callie and Jaxon was emotional, tender and deeply satisfying. Watching them navigate their pain and choose each other anyway was everything I want in a romance book.

Also Willa Kay you cannot do this to me. I need Griffin’s story immediately. I feel like I’m being edged having to wait until June and I am simply not okay with it. Five stars no hesitation.

As always, Willa's books are incredible and have amazing storylines. Beautiful Surrender is a beautiful story about two broken individuals, both dealing with unresolved trauma, coming together and healing each other.

I did resonate a bit less to Callie than other fmcs in Willa's books, even though I figured I would relate a lot to her, but in my opinion that didn't write off the book for me.

Willa knows how to make you fall in love with her characters and as always, I absolutely adored the found family aspect.
The sidecharacters making a comeback from the other books in the series, is a nice little wink and gives you a beautiful peek into the future of those stories.

Thank you, Willa, for giving me a review copy!

Willa knows how to make you laugh, cry and kick your feet. Broken characters learning to love and heal themselves is one of my favorites and Jaxon and Callie both have gone through some terrible things. Both guard their hearts fiercely and don't open up. Together, they realize how strong and worthy of love they are. Jaxon is such a dirty talking broody cowboy and Callie is shy with a heart of gold. Jaxon gets her to open up about her past and see how worthy she is. Callie also gets him to open up and learn to love.
I'm new to the Willa-verse but I just love everyone in it. The family and other characters are filled with banter and love.

Emotional, past traumas, diverse characters, a nosey family and friends and some slow burn spice makes for one heck of an amazing story! 4.5 stars but I rounded up. I really loved their story. It’s well paced with plenty of fun and witty moments to break up all that both of these characters have gone through and what makes them who they are and how they grow in between. There’s also a secret or two that shows up and gets unveiled by the end of the book. The writing is fantastic and I’m loving this series!

Thank you, Willa Kay, for this ARC! I loved Sweet Escape and was super excited for the opportunity to read Beautiful Surrender a few weeks early.

I love how much care and consideration Kay gives her plus-sized characters. I was so refreshing to see how desired Callie is no matter her size. Jaxon was down bad and we LOVE to see it.

Would have been fives stars from me but I feel like maybe there was too much going on? Also not a huge fan of the characters avoiding each other to further the plot.

All in all, would 100% recommend this book and cannot wait for Angie and Griffin’s book!

I liked this book a lot but some of Willa Kay’s spoke to me a bit more. This stories is centered around an MMC who is still working through (or maybe for the first time) his grief at losing his best friend 13 years prior and an FMC who has spent her life running from her abusive family and the problematic lessons she has internalized. I liked them both and their relationship, but I felt a bit like they were each other’s key to addressing those issues and that felt off for me. I also don’t think the MMC was developed enough and his insta-love for the FMC was just tough to connect with. But these two had a slow burn that was satisfying and are both likable characters who give you a lot to root for.

I just ADORE the Hayes men and their strong, sweet partners 💘

Jax and Callie could start a fire with their chemistry! The spicy scenes were diverse and hot, showing you don’t need to go all in to be satisfied 🔥

Jaxon’s side hustle as a spicy creator and him working out Callie’s online identity really added an interesting element and some tension to the story! Making their fantasies a reality was so intimate and hot, whew!

Both our main characters have a fleshed out backstory with different concerns and family issues. In true Willa Kay style our characters difficulties are dealt with in a real and respectful way, we even got a wholesome full circle moment! 💖

I’m so excited for Reckless Abandon when we get to see Griffin’s story!

Thank you to Willa Kay for the ARC 🫶🏻

Beautiful Surrender Arc Book Review -

Genre - Cowboy Romance
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Callie and Jaxons Story is just as it’s called it’s a Beautiful Surrender. Secretly falling in love online to then find each other in real life. To both come together and overcome both their past traumas to fall in love all over again. It was so beautiful to read and it was so moving with Callie’s getting her happily ever after even after her dad died and she thought she’d never get it. The way they both have the patience’s to comfort each other and off love when discussing each others pasts was lovely and how Jason’s family immediately felling in love and adopted Callie into the Hayes family, if you loved any of Willa Kay’s previous books I would highly recommend this book and if you’ve never tried it, I recommend the whispering okay book series for beautiful cowboy romances.

This book has my heart. He is tattooed and pierced cowboy and she is a shy librarian. What more can a girl want in a book. Jaxon was so good for Callie. Showing her that it’s okay for someone to help and take care of you. And it’s okay to rely on someone else. He gave her a soft place to land when she needed it and she gave him healing, compassion and understanding.

Callie and Jaxon. Wow. Such a beatific story for two broken souls. They help each other heal and have such a beautiful life.

Things I want to remember…

Rodney, it’s me or him. defenseless Calliope Marsden no longer exists. After making sure nothing seems suspicious, I slide into the back seat of my outdated hatchback on top of the semi-deflated air mattress with the sleeping bag and a single, lumpy pillow. “Home sweet home.”  My life went up in smoke when a gas leak caused an explosion at my apartment complex in Oak Ridge. I escaped with my life, but I lost so much in the aftermath.pleasure peak app Once I’ve caught up on everything I missed, I head into my bedroom and set my camera on the tripod at the end of my bed. After tugging off my shirt, I secure the bandana around my face and put on my signature black cowboy hat. It’s all part of my brand. Does she have any idea I’m the man she ghosted five months ago after finally confessing my feelings? No. If she did, I doubt she’d be sitting here with me right now. I never imagined I’d find my Alley Kat in a library one town over. It feels almost like divine intervention. Callie doesn’t know it yet, but I’ve spent years searching for her in every woman I meet. I’m not about to let her get away again. The thirteenth anniversary of the accident is coming up. Ryan’s family holds a memorial every summer, and every summer, I find a reason to stay home.best friend Ryan’s horse accident. A sharp rap at my car window startles me awake. I reach beneath my pillow and wrap my trembling hand around the taser I keep on my keychain. When I peer out into the night, I meet Jaxon’s penetrating stare. Jax pulls his powder blue Chevy onto the road, and I follow close behind. Somewhere on the outskirts of Oak Ridge, my shitty little hatchback decides it’s done playing nice, and smoke starts billowing from beneath the hood, clouding my vision. I honk for Jaxon to stop as I pull onto the shoulder.copper took Ryan out. My mind replays the feel of his palm engulfing mine at the dinner table. He comforted me before I had a moment to dwell on my sadness. He’s offering the same comfort now, and he can’t know how much I need it. I slide my hand into his and let his warmth radiate through me. “Let’s go home,” he murmurs. After Clio left, I learned to take care of myself. There was no one there to comfort me when I was sad, no one to have family dinners with, or celebrate my birthday. My life is marked by hardship and resilience. I was forced to grow up too soon, and it shaped who I am, for better or worse. Cold sweat covers my body, soaking through the sheets. It’s the same nightmare that’s tormented me for years. His eyes. Blank. Lifeless. The watch, as broken as his body, suspended in time.  After all this time, I still can’t shake the terror of that night. “So, how did you get roped into this?” Clint flashes me his impossibly white teeth. “Nia thinks I need to start taking my dating life more seriously.” “You two are close, then?” “Twin sister. You can’t tell?” “Clearly, I’m the better-looking sibling,” Nia teases. Callie pulls out a small note card and reads it to herself. Her throat constricts as a line of tears forms on her lashes. “You want me to be a bridesmaid?” “Maid of honor. If you want. No pressure.” Liv smiles nervously. “To hell with the scars. Can’t you see how much I want you? Why won’t you let me in?”“You mean the same way you let me in?” She crosses her arms over her chest. “Tell me why you won’t talk about Copper, or why you can’t listen to certain songs on the radio. Tell me about Ryan.”“That’s different.” “Is it? The way I see it, we both have secrets we aren’t willing to share.” She blows out a harsh breath. “This won’t work, Jax. We’re both too damaged.”As I begin to drift off, she whispers, “Is this what love feels like?”“For now, I want to call you my girlfriend. And when you’re ready, I want my ring on your finger and my last name attached to your first. I want the happily ever that comes after, and everything that happens in between.”“I appreciate that you’re taking care of me, but if you don’t make me come soon, I’m going to make you regret it.” He chuckles. “You’re mouthy for a woman who was still a virgin ten minutes ago.” “And you’re cocky for a man who hasn’t made me come around his dick yet.”“Bluebirds sometimes symbolize hope and happiness. Two things I didn’t have before I met you.”Over the spot where a long pink scar once existed, Noah has placed a detailed floral stencil. “There’s one more thing.” Noah stands at her side and adds a smaller stencil to the design, just between her breasts. “Callie had a special request.” When he peels back the paper, a knot instantly forms in my throat, and my vision blurs. It doesn’t have any color yet, but it doesn’t have to—I know it’ll be blue. The room full of people gathers around as Ruby tells the story of how she and Liam eloped at the Nashville courthouse with Liam’s son, Aiden, as the best man. Time passes in a blur, and before long, we’re all lining up around the outside of the wedding barn, preparing to walk down the aisle. Marie joins me and hands me a black box with a hinged lid. “Ryan would’ve wanted you to have this.” I open it, and my heart stops beating. “I can’t take this.” My voice is feeble as I stare down at the once broken watch, now fully repaired—ticking like time didn’t stop at 8:36 p.m. exactly thirteen years ago. “My real name is Calliope Marsden.”I wanted to be just like Clio—it’s why she nicknamed me Copycat. “What are you doing here?” I ask weakly. “I work here... or I will. I got a job at Willow Valley Preschool.” I give her a tight-lipped smile. “That's great. Congratulations, I guess.”"Why did you leave?" Clio pinches her eyes shut and exhales a long breath. "I was pregnant."“Rodney. Our stepdad. She didn't kill him," Clio says. "He died in prison two days ago.”“Have you been back to New Jersey? Is Mom still alive?” She rubs a hand down her arm. “She died about six years ago now. Some lawyers contacted me about her will. They tried to get in touch with you, but nobody could find you.”“I love you, Calliope Alexandra Marsden.” “I love you, too, Jaxon… wait, what’s your middle name?” “Calder after my great-grandaddy.” “I love you, Jaxon Calder Hayes.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 / 5 – I didn’t cry on the first page this time… but I did before the first chapter was even over. 💙🐎

If Beautiful Surrender was about learning you deserve love, this story felt like learning you’re worthy of being fully seen - scars, grief, and all.

Jaxon Hayes is carrying grief that has rooted itself deep. After losing his best friend, he’s been stuck in guilt, convinced that moving forward would somehow mean letting go. He’s shut people out. Even the parts of himself that still want more.

And then there’s Callie.

Callie is strength wrapped in silence. She’s survived more than anyone should have to, rebuilt her life from nothing, and convinced herself that staying guarded is the only way to stay safe. She doesn’t believe she deserves softness. She doesn’t believe she deserves to be chosen fully.

What I loved most about this book was how layered their healing felt.

The tension simmered from the start. Broody cowboy. Hot librarian. A connection that felt charged even in stillness. Their chemistry wasn’t rushed, but it wasn’t dragged out either. Every small act of care built something steady.

Jaxon doesn’t rescue Callie in some dramatic way. He notices her. He makes space. He cooks for her. He pays attention to the quiet things. And Callie doesn’t magically fix his grief either. She gently pushes him to face it. To talk about it. To stop punishing himself.

Some of the most powerful moments are the quiet ones. When Callie allows herself to be truly seen, it isn’t dramatic. It’s brave. And Jaxon’s response to her vulnerability - protective, tender, unwavering - is what sealed this as five stars for me.

The symbolism woven through this story was beautiful too. The horse. Facing what’s been avoided. The bluebird representing hope layered over pain. Choosing a future instead of being defined by the past. It all felt intentional without ever feeling heavy.

The Hayes family once again completely stole my heart. Mama and Pops. The brothers. The way they fold Callie in without question. Watching her slowly realise she isn’t temporary in their lives made my chest ache in the best way.

The kids melted me. Emmy and Gracie’s love for “Uncle Jaxy,” the softness in their moments with Callie, the warmth they bring to even the heaviest scenes.

And I loved that we got to see Wilder and Livie in this next chapter of their lives too, baby Gracie! Seeing them as parents together - not in a step dynamic, but fully, wholeheartedly united - meant so much. Livie and Emmy don’t feel like stepmother and stepdaughter. They feel like mother and daughter. Completely bonded. Completely chosen. Watching Livie love Emmy so naturally, and watching Wilder stand back in quiet awe of his girls, made the ranch feel alive and evolving. Their story didn’t just end in the last book. It deepened here.

One of my absolute favourite elements was Olivia’s role in this book. The way she stepped in for Callie. The way their bond grew into something that felt like true sisterhood. Olivia saw her. Backed her. Made sure she never felt alone. In a story centred on found family, that friendship was just as powerful as the romance.

There are unexpected turns that deepen the emotional stakes, but nothing felt like drama for the sake of it. Everything served the growth. The healing. The choosing.

This wasn’t just a romance.

It was about survivors choosing softness.
About guilt loosening its grip.
About being brave enough to let someone love you completely.

By the end, I didn’t just feel happy.

I felt safe.

And I already know Griffin’s story is going to emotionally wreck me next.

"You see me. Being with you - being loved by you - feels like finally coming home."
♡♡♡

This book is one of my all time most anticipated reads of the year and I absolutely loved it. Jaxon and Callie! These two were so good together and I loved their story. It was about healing, moving forward, rising up after tragedy and accepting that you are deserving of love.

Both our MCs have gone through some devastating experiences that have physically and mentally scarred them. My heart broke for both of them and I was rooting so hard for them too. I loved Wilder (from Sweet Escape) but Jaxon, with his 100% devotion to Callie from day one *fan's self* that man was so down bad and proud of it, he was irresistible!

This is my 3rd book by this author and I am in love with her green flag, big hearts and dirty talking cowboys. Every hero has been an absolute dream man and every heroine has been a strong woman to root for. I've been charmed and seduced with each and every one of them and Beautiful Surrender was no different.

Callie is my favorite type of heroine! She's vulnerable and wary (with good reason) but she's also sure of herself and capable. She’s genuinely a good hearted and kind person who just needs a little nudge to see herself like everyone else does. Jaxon loving her unconditionally and supporting her through not only her highs but her lows too *sigh*

Bringing these two together was the perfect blend of healing, romance and love. Bonus shout out the Hayes family. I love the close family bonds and accepting vibes. They always manage to enrich the story with a wise word or comforting hug. If you love curvy girl romance, small town vibes, handsome cowboys and found family vibes, I can definitely recommend!

Favorite Bits:
🖤 Wilder and Liv's wedding 💕
🖤 Jaxon down bad and proud! Taking Callie and Atticus to just spend time with them *swoon*
🖤 The epilogues!!! I love them and these two were perfection! The engagement and the wedding were *chef's kiss*

Ironically these moments were each made into beautiful character art pieces that I'm obsessed with! That and Jaxon's signature scent *OMG* I want tucked it into the book and now it smells divine!!!

💜 Whispering Oaks Book Ranch 💜

Beautiful Surrender is the second book in the Whispering Oaks Ranch series by Willa Kay. Each book can be read as a standalone, but it is highly recommended reading the series in order. Not only is book one fantastic, but it introduces readers to the Ranch and the characters. Check your trigger warnings on this one babes, I dirty cried. That’s all I’m going to say.

Jaxon Hayes, hot, nerdy cowboy who makes spicy content on the side, a softy to the core for his nieces and an all around good guy. But Jaxon holds his own demons, ones that he buries, ones that keep him up at night, ones that keep him from living his life fully. That all changes with Callie Cooper. Callie has lived in a constant state of fight or flight for what feels like her entire life. She hides her scars, both emotional and skin deep under her glasses and sarcasm, but when Jaxon comes to her rescue at one of her most vulnerable moments, Callie finds herself lowering her walls to him. Through patience, grit, family love and acceptance Callie and Jaxon both fight back their demons and decide to give their growing love a chance.

Beautiful Surrender hit right in the freaking feels! Jaxon has such love in him, he grew up with a wonderful family, with opportunity available to him, but when tragedy strikes, his world is turned upside down. A single moment that changes him for the rest of his life. Callie on the other hand is a warrior. Fighting for her life from day one, after being let down by her mother, her sister and anyone else that came along the way, she learned to take care of herself. She survived. Callie finds her happiness in being a librarian, with her books and with her big gray cat. But when Jaxon comes into her life, she starts to see what things could be. She could have family, she could have love, but she has to take the risk.

Oh how I loved this book. Coming down from it however was emotional and made the story that much more meaningful. Callie is a boss, and Jaxon is perfect for her. There’s a lot to unpack, and when reading I was a little nervous towards the end, not knowing how the author was going to resolve so much in such a small time, but she did and oh boy did she do it well. Together Jaxon and Callie heal from the trauma of their pasts and start looking towards their future together. The slow burn was a slooooowww but, but had treats dropped throughout the book that were the perfect appetizer before the main course. I can’t wait to see what author has in store of book three!!

This was such a gorgeous story!

Jaxon's entire life was shattered by a tragic accident that made him lose the love he had for his home. He keeps everyone at a distance to avoid reminders and to avoid attachment like the one he lost. When he wants to experience pleasure without any feelings or attachments, he creates an online persona and quickly connects with a subscriber that he only knows as Alley Kat. Callie has overcome her traumatic upbringing and tumultuous past and finally got her dream job as a librarian. When Jaxon and Callie connect at the library, they are drawn to each other without immediately realizing their previous connection. However, in order to form a true relationship, they both have to work through their trauma and insecurities to learn to trust in each other.

My heart hurt so badly for all that Callie went through. No one should have to go through that, but it especially distressing when it happens to a child. However, I was absolutely in awe of how she overcame so much adversity and grew into such a strong woman. I loved that she put herself through school and got her dream job. I also felt it was very realistic how she was a bit insecure about her body and her scars and how it would be difficult to trust anyone with her body after everything she had been through. Jax has also been through a lot and has never really confronted his grief. I completely understood how he would bury all of his feelings and avoid attachments. Their online interactions were so spicy and fantastic. I absolutely loved his dirty talk.

The interactions between Callie and Jax were so much fun. I loved how flirtatious he was and her innocent reactions. I went through all sorts of emotions throughout this book and I loved every minute. I especially loved how the Hayes family was so inviting and accepting of Callie. They welcomed her with open arms immediately even before she and Jax started dating. I have not (yet) read the other book in the series, but I am definitely going to go back and read it to get Wilder and Olivia's story. The kids are so adorable and Jax's soft spot especially for Emmy Lou melted my heart every time. I did feel like the ending was a little bit rushed/forced in order to get closure on some of Callie's past. There are so many fun side characters and I'm excited to read more about them! If you like small town cowboy romance, definitely give this book a read!

I received a free advanced copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

ARC Review:

First I would like to thank the author for allowing me an ARC, i Really enjoyed the book and Callie and Jaxon as a couple, i also cannot wait to see what else this series will bring because book 1 & 2(this book) have been good.

rating: 3.75-4 stars
Spice rating 3 stars:

Fave tropes:
-secret identity ( not so secret for some... looking at Jax)
-roomates
-cowboy x libarian
open door scenes

content warnings for the book:
Discussions of child abuse (past, on page)
• Murder (brief description of events)
• Death and grief (past, on page)
• Homelessness
• Alcohol consumption
• Sick animal (alive and well by the end)
• PTSD (nightmares and panic attacks)

Mini review:
-The Prologue really got to me and i really felt connected with Callie and i am glad she found Jaxon.
-Jaxons dirty mouth really got me, the hidden cowboy being a spicy content creator and finding out Callie was one of his subscribers before she vanished.
- Jax finding Callie sleeping in her car and demanded she stay with him. <3
--seeing the cameos from the book 1 couple love Liv and Wilder and it was so good to see them. As well as seeing Emmy lou and Gracie mae being Jaxons in at the library at times, they were adorable.
-their nicknames for each other, Bluebird and Cowboy
- Jax dirty talk is again on another level and the foreplay, they do not get right down and dirty till around 70%
- no main conflict in this book, it is mostly them getting to know each other personally and intimately but also them healing from their past trauma to be together and be open with each other.

-This book has my favourite, what i call a mini trope of breeding kink but is more a promise.
-All the Hayes boys (even the dad) are down bad for their women, will Griffin fall hard as well???
-I really enjoy Willa kays writing this is my second book of hers i have read, a si have currently only read this series even though it slightly connects with another of hers (where the hayes sister has her HEA) it doesn't to me affect the story any way.

-i cannot wait to read what Willa Kay writes next with this series <3

Oh my heart. Where do I start? This story was gorgeous. GORGEOUS! It was filled with heart, spice, feelings, banter, healing, laughter, tears, discovery, learning, and hope. It had me laughing, crying, hating on some characters, and wanting to re-read it as soon as I read the final word. I'm in love.

Callie is a librarian.

Jaxon is a cowboy accountant and spicy internet performer.

They know each other from around town. And online (but they don't know that right away). He has a painful past. She has a painful past. Their presents intersect significantly when he finds out she is sleeping in her car and offers her his spare room. And so begins their journey together. Swoon.

Callie is a woman who has saved herself. She has survived. She has been hurt. Badly. Horrifically. And yet she keeps on. She keeps trying. She keeps breathing. And she keeps looking for a safe place for her & Atticus. I loved watching her open up to & support Jaxon. I loved her heart & her mind. I loved her getting to have new & good experiences and find a home, a family.

Jaxon is a man who lived but has not been living. He is going through the motions of life and avoiding the joy. He doesn't feel worthy of it. He needs to forgive and begin to allow himself to heal so he doesn't lose his future. And I loved watching him work on that.

These two are stunning. Individually. Together. Around other people. With his family. Loving her cat. Stunning perfection. I cannot wait to re-read it! And am jealous of everyone who still gets to read it for the first time.

Willa is an amazing writer. She has thoughtfully handled incredibly difficult & painful topics so that the characters have dignity and readers have safety. She writes stories that will bust your soul open, shuffle things around, expose some stuff, and then put you back together with a little bit of glitter & glue.

I received this as an ARC and am so grateful. This had zero impact on my review.

ARC REVIEW
Beautiful Surrender by Willa Kay
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I devoured Beautiful Surrender. After finishing Sweet Escape, I knew I needed more of Whispering Oaks Ranch but nothing prepared me for how deeply this book would hit me in the feels.
Callie completely stole my heart. She’s a total badass resilient, independent, and used to surviving on her own. Letting people in is hard for her, but watching her slowly open up and finally receive the love and family she’s always deserved was so beautiful. Her flashbacks shattered me. No child should ever endure what she did, yet she remains kind, witty, and full of quiet strength.
And then there’s Jaxon Hayes hot, nerdy, tattooed cowboy, math lover, secretly spicy content creator, softie for his nieces and a man carrying his own buried grief. He doesn’t believe he deserves joy until Callie. Their connection is tender, passionate, and healing in all the best ways. Jaxon falls for her first and hard but it’s once Callie finally lets him see the vulnerable parts of her that he truly, fully loves her. The way he shows up for her in both her highs and lows Swoon.
Callie and Jaxon together are absolute magic. She hides behind sarcasm, glasses, and emotional scar tissue he hides behind avoidance and guilt. Watching them slowly let their walls down and choose each other felt so real and rewarding.
And the FOUND FAMILY. Pure perfection. The Hayes family embracing Callie with open arms, Jaxon’s adorable moments with his nieces, and Emmy Lou continuing to steal every scene my heart could barely handle it.

Considering how much I loved book one, Sweet Escape, it is unsurprising how much I loved Beautiful Surrender. The characters are multi dimensional, the banter is hilarious, the chemistry is unmistakable and the spice is well balanced.

Jaxon Hayes is the exact kind sensitive soul masquerading as a cocky cowboy that I want to read about. He is a shameless flirt that has his eyes set on the woman that he’s been pining over for years, and only has eyes for her. This man is so down bad and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that Callie feels safe and cared for, even if she fights him on it.

Callie Cooper has found a dream job as a small town librarian, but is struggling to make ends meet after a lifetime of trauma and bad luck. While she is mistrusting of new people, is incredibly tough and resilient, even if she doesn’t truly believe it. I absolutely adore Callie. Although she finds Jaxon charming and irresistible, she does not give up any opportunity to bring that man down a peg when he’s being cocky. 😂 And I love that kind of energy.

Throughout the story, Callie & Jaxon both struggle to overcome the scars of their past and feel unworthy of love. Their individual journeys to healing are fraught with setbacks, but their friendship empowers them to seek closure and move forward.

The relationships are my favorite part of this book. Of course, Jaxon & Callie’s relationship is playful and their chemistry is sizzling, Jaxon’s interactions with his brothers are hilarious and his relationship his nieces is adorable. And the found family that Callie builds along the way is especially heartwarming due to Callie’s upbringing.

Overall, I loved this book. The banter so ornery and playful, the spicy scenes were 🔥 and well balanced with the rest of the story, and the plus size representation is a favorite of mine. Highly recommend!

ARC Review
OUT TOMORROW
Whispering Oak Ranch Series, book 2

I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to read this book. I loved it so much I’m going to be very careful to avoid spoilers in this review because I don’t want to deprive you all of the full experience when you read this gem.

I will say that it has everything you expect of Will Kay’s writing, it is FULL of heart, found family, emotional depth, funny and sweet moments and EXCELLENT spice and romance. This visit to the Whispering Oak Ranch particularly resonated with me, the emotion of this story reached into the hidden shadowy parts of my soul and shone a cathartic light. Both characters have deeply hidden scars that they are forced to face and they become the safe harbour for each other in such a wonderful way.

You will adore these two!

Callie is a plus sized librarian who keeps people at bay because she’s never had anyone to rely on. She’s guarded, beyond sarcastic and quick witted and books have become her safe space, something I think a lot of us can relate to.

Jaxon is a heavily tattooed, math loving cowboy with a secret spicy side hustle and a need to keep things surface level after losing his best friend at a young age.

The Hayes family is the perfect found family, what I wouldn’t give for a seat at their warm chaotic table! I loved that you got to see more of Olivia and Wilder (Sweet Escape, Book 1) and Ruby (Skylines & Sanctuaries). The community created by Willa is one you would dive into if you could.

If you want something that will make you cry, swoon, laugh and then cry again (I’m the best way), this is for you.

Out tomorrow, just run and read it people you won’t regret it.

Thank you for the ARC 💕

Really looking forward to the next book! 🥰
