When Sheriff Hayden Duke steps through a portal hunting the mysterious arms dealer known as the Marquise, he quickly realizes he just voluntarily entered Hell.
Trapped in a deadly maze with Space Marine Caleb Card, they’ll need to rely on all of their individual strengths—and each other—if they want to survive. Demons stalk the corridors. Shifting walls hide deadly secrets. And somewhere in the darkness, a powerful enemy plays a game where the stakes are higher than anyone realizes.
The legendary lawman who never gives up and the marine with the unbreakable will must lead an unlikely team through trials that have claimed countless lives before them. But in a place where reality itself can't be trusted, even legends can be broken.
Some battles are fought with guns. Others require something more.
M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.
He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

The Sheriff and the Space Marine by M.R. Forbes I will have to read the rest of the Sheriff books to really get into this. It was great without reading the whole Sheriff series first but I think it would be best to finish it first. By then, maybe the author will have more in this series out. Lots of action and suspense mixed with sci-fi and creatures. Fast action and interesting characters. Forbes rarely disappoints.
This wild roller coaster of a ride with the Sheriff has been a blast for years, but now it's time to come to an end. Like every entry in the Forgotten universe, I can't wait to start it and race to the finish, only to be begging for more. Hayden is hands down my favorite character since Aragorn. It's bittersweet to see the end coming. But at least Hayden has Caleb with him. When those two team up, it's always an awesome adventure. Although they're trapped in a horrific maze, surrounded by danger at every turn, the duo never stop and never give up. I can't wait for book 2!
