I really really enjoyed reading Love Match. this was one funny book if you ask me. It's about Gemma Stone, a 14-year-old aspiring journalist who ends up writing horoscopes for her school's webzine. While taking on the role of Jessica Jupiter, astrologer and matchmaker, she also helps her friends and saves an important piece of school architecture in the process. It appears lighthearted and flighty, but it's actually more serious that that, which surprised me.
Another focus of Gemma's life is her younger brother Ben, who suffers from cystic fibrosis. His illness affects the whole family, and Gemma often has to help out with his physio and medication. It's an inspirational story for anyone in secondary school who's wondering what to do in the future. It shows that you have to keep trying. The romantic matchmaking elements add humour and boys to the story, making it even more reminiscent of being fourteen and not knowing what's in store. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that age! It's a feelgood, accurate portrayal of secondary school life, but it also has an air of maturity to it.

Ah, cute little books, what an amazing distraction you are.

This book is sweetness times ten. It's adorable, funny and interesting, which is why I read it so quickly and decided to continue with the series. I'm not going to pretend it's the best book I've ever read, but it definitly is a nice distraction. It might be the book I read in the shortest amount of time this year, but it made it even better. If you're looking for a story to make you forget about school, work or life in general, this book would be amazing for you. Also, I love how it's about journalism, since that's what I'm studying right now.

Maybe I should have avoided the book because it is a story of a 13 year old..I felt the end was incomplete and cut short..

That being said, the characters were well written.. specially Gemma's self musings.. the way she reported everything like a new report.. on the whole, a pleasant read..

As a 34 year old woman, I shouldn't be reading a book about a 9th grader...but I did and it was so good! A really cute, quick read with a sweet ending!

Titre : La rubrique cœur de Jessica Jupiter
Auteur : Melody James
Editeur : De la Martinière jeunesse
Collection : Fiction J
Histoire : 10/10 ; personnages : 10/10 ; ambiance : 10/10 ; suspense : 10/10

It's a cute little book. I generally like reading these sort of things when I want to relax and not get too deep into anything. However, I found it so difficult because of the astrology theme - I love astrology and I've written about it and I am confident enough to say that I know my stuff when it comes to it. So the lack of knowledge about it was upsetting. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be like this... but the horoscope at the end? It was so difficult to take the book seriously and I found myself disliking it quite a lot.
If perhaps it contained no astrology, or the astrology was purposely made to be not quite up to scratch, I would've probably enjoyed it.

So... the point is...?

That's it? I was wondering if my copy of the book has missing pages. With a slooow build up of the plot, surely the resolution shouldn't just be dished out like that? Fast forward to a month, no news about her love life, or her supposed to be career as a journalist, which she spent two-thirds of the book day dreaming about? I tried forgiving the shallowness of the first parts and the endless daydreaming, but after finishing, I was like, what the frack did I just read?

And then I find out that there are three more sequels. Nope. Nope. No thank you.

3.5. I got this for free in a magazine like 3 years ago and only got around to it now. I actually really enjoyed this! the writing was simple, but I loved the characters, even though I couldn't really relate to them. Gemma was quite funny and cute. I also loved how it was less than 200 pages and we got quite a bit of back story. I kind of want more so if I can find these books here somehow I will totally get one. :)

Carina l'idea.

I read a lot of YA books. Students going to college and stuff like that. This middle school drama was new to me. I'll keep this review short and crisp.

description

Thing I loved :

description

> The author's creativity to write horoscopes.
> The ending. I was smiling.
> The use of an article to let out all the building rage, anger and tension.

Things I did not like so much :

> The use of OMG! - this should be banned from books. According to me it is the worst of worst abbreviations.
> The girls saying ' There will be boys!" , "Wear a dress, to impress". It is the typical middle school dialogues I suppose.

Will I be reading the next part?
> Maybe.
